People category in Organizer 11

It seems that if the facial recognition software does not recognize a person as a person the photo will not go into the People category. I have not found a way to manually tag someone. Is there a way to do this?
Is there a way to display in the People category like in the group category? IE with the keywords on the side, timeline, etc.

Hi,
Thank you for answering my question.
On part 2 what I was trying to do was finding of people. In playing
around I found a solution. I had a People category with a Family
sub-category and an individual keyword.  This has worked well for me
since version 3 (I believe) thru version 9. I did not get 10. The former
rationale worked well and seemed fairly intuitive to operate. Have no
idea why on this version People was split off.
What I was trying to do was do a find of photos that contained
individuals. For example if I was looking for photos containing Bob,
Mary and Joe, I would check those individuals. What I found I had to do
was to go to the Media "tab", click on Find and then do an Advanced
Search. Then I am able to do what I did on earlier versions.
What is the purpose of the People "tab" in version 11? It just gives me
a stack of individuals that I can not do anything with on that view.
Thank you again for your response.

  • Adding People to an Organization

In the address book I can create a new "Organization". However, when I click the "People" tab (while creating or editing the organization) I see no way to add people/contacts to the organization.

Well, that does seem to work. Seems like a strange design though. Seems like you would create the organization and then have an "Add" button on the organization's "People" tab, similar to how you add people to a "group".
I also noticed that if you edit a person, go to "Advanced", and type something in the "Organization" field (which is how I am interpreting your suggestion), it will actually create that organization if it doesn't already exist. So, make a slight typo when adding an organization name to an existing person and you create a 2nd organization...
Again, seems like a very strange design. But THANK YOU for your reply! At least I have a way to make it work now.

In my experience, it happens from the other direction. I.e., if you edit people
and put the organization name in the organization field, they will show up in
    the organization object.

  • Sharepoint audience targeted items no longer showing for specific people due to Organizational Unit was renamed,

we found one day that audience targeted items were no longer showing for specific people.
After a bit of troubleshooting, we discovered that one of the active directory domain groups that we were using was in an Organizational Unit (OU) that had been renamed.
After a bit more research, it appears that whenever a profile import occurs in SharePoint and the corresponding membership import occurs, SharePoint stores all the domain group membership in
a database table in the SSP database called MemberGroup.  This table stores all the groups with a corresponding count and the group's canonical name.
When the group's canonical name changes in active directory SharePoint finds the new group and adds it as a duplicate entry into the table, and orphans the old record.
However, the audience rules still point to the old record, which is no longer valid and the audience compiles without any members.

looking for solution for this problem ?

    Hi,
There is a way to restore Membership information synchronization between content database and profile database for all site collections. How to do this is described in a microsoft support case:

  • People Refinement Panel not displaying "Department" filter category.

I am trying to create people directory in SharePoint 2010. I am using "People Search Core Result" web-part and "People Refinement Panel" web-part.
Following is the screen of my "People Search Core Result" webpart properties:
Following is the "Filter category Definition" in "People Refinement Panel"
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

I have unchecked "Use Default Configuration" in "People Refinement Panel" web-part.
I can only see "Job Title" in refinement panel.
In above xml code, the metadata property "DepartmentR" is mapped to "People:Department(Text)".  I even full crawled after creating this property but this property never appears in Refinement Panel. I even performed full profile synchronization
in User Profile Application but still no luck.
    Please help.

Make sure the managed property has the following set
    1. Allow Property to be used in scopes: Ticked
    2. Reduce storage requirements for text properties by using a hash for comparison: Ticked
    3. Add managed property to custom results set retrieved on each query. Note: Only the first 2 kilobytes of data is available for display by default: Ticked

  • PSE 9 (Mac) Organizer - Category Tag shows no pictures

I have tagged all my photos and have my heirarchy set.  If I click on an upper level tag, the organizer automatically "clicks" all the subordinate tags, and shows me all the pictures for those tags.
However, if I click a category tag, The organizer automatically "clicks" the subordinate tags as above, but tells me there are no matching photographs.
Shouldn't I see all the photos in that category?

    Thanks,
I am in Thumbnail view, and I checked all of the items in the link you provided.  I looked closer, and found that it is only the People category that has problems.  I moved some of the sub-categories to another temp holding category, and found that the problem disappeared when some combinations of sub-categories were moved.  But when all of the subcategories were moved to the new holding category, then the new one failed as well.  So there must be something about the specific set of circumstances in my library that is causing this to occur.  I think I'll just forget it for now and see if the problem still exists in the next release.

  • People names in elements organizer are not saved.

After i name people in elements organizer 10 why are the names not saved? I have to name some of them again and again each time I reopen the program. I'm using the same catalog each time. Also, some names, even though they are in my people list, have to be entered (typed in) each time as Elements does not prompt

    rezad,
it was a long time ago i had that problem and locale handling is like a black box to me.
It's easy to reverse if it doesn't help though, why don't you try it ?
    I have tried it.
adding other encoding before the famous en-US,UTF-8 one gives warning for default lang and falling back.
I see these error when running apps from command line.
adding other encodings after that encoding doesn't show this warning but i have a suspicion that it mean that other encoding are suppressed,
i have to try it with a file with a wired but known encoding and then adding that encoding to config and testing again.
my problem is how do i find the filename encoding?(not find content encoding)
this is the file in question. can somebody tell me what is the filename encoding?
    https://www.sendspace.com/file/fwmxpc
EDIT:  my findings on this matter.
even adding all the langs to /etc/locale.gen and then using locale-gen command doesnt fix this. cause this are different issues.
this problem as a whole doesn't have a solution, cause linux unlike windows doesn't have a default inbuilt filename encoding and it all depends on your environment.
linux just treat the filename in the encoding you tell it. so it cant detect anything cause there is nothing to detect.
from its perspective filename are just binary data ready to be interpreted as wished by the user.
widows on the other hand uses UTF-16.
plz if anybody have another contradicting point ,then reply but plz dont say I have to use correct encoding. the only way to fix it is using convmv util and that requires finding the correct original encoding.
    thanks for all the replys.

  • PSE13 Organizer Crashed during People Recognition

I am using PSE13 on two computers with common photo folders on my NAS. The photos on the NAS are mapped to M:\ drive in M:\photos and are divided into a number of subfolders by year (e.g., M:\photos\2014). When I do a people recognition in Organizer on a single subfolder, the program often crashes during the 'analyzing photos' phase. Has anyone ever come up against this problem? Any solution recommended?
    Thanks

  • How to change the standard category thumbnails?

This month I upgraded to PE6. I don't like the dark gray background and miss some of the features I got used to, but I can live with that. On the other hand, I extremely disliked the standard category thumbnails for places, people, events and other. Why on earth did Adobe change the appealing thumbnails for those categories in PE4? The present ones are dull and because I can't make anything of the fine details in the new thumbnails I keep forgetting what they stand for.
So far I have made several attempts to revert to the old thumbnails. I replaced the *.png picture files in the shared_assets\bitmaps\tag_palette with the old picture files (which are, by the way, present in the same directory, as "legacy" files). Didn't make any difference.
The second attempt was to add the old picture files to the shared_assets\caticons directory. They then appeared in PE6 as possible alternate choices for the thumbnails. I changed all four categories. Took some time, but it worked. However, next time I started PE6, everything was back to the original situation. Heavy sigh... Where does PE6 hide the new stupid thumbnails??

There's something about those legacy icons that's built-in to PSE 6. Here's a recipe that worked for me:
    - Copy shared_assets\bitmaps\LegacyCatIcon_People.png to shared_assets\caticons\MyPeople.png.
    - Invoke the full editor on MyPeople.png and change one pixel to a slightly different color.
    - Save MyPeople.png.
    - Edit the People category and select the icon for MyPeople.png.
    - Restart PSE 6 Organizer.

  • Adding Fields to People Search Results Page

    Hi
Working in SharePoint Online, I've been able to add a few fields to the People Search results page successfully:
    Organization
    Office Locator
    Office Location
    Work Phone
    Mobile Phone
    Home Phone
    Work Email
All of the above fields are working and display on the People search results page.
I tried to add these and they simply do not display.  There is no error:
    University Email
    Assistant
    Calendar/Scheduling
I set them up the same way.  I created the Property in the User Profile area.  I then populated the data for each user.  I then added the property as a Managed property (search schema) linked to the Crawled property from the People category.
Made sure that they were query able, retrievable, searchable, etc.  Then I edited the People Search code and then I waited over the weekend for the search to pick them up.  I came into work this morning and they still do not display.  Here is
my code, just in case I missed something.  Thanks.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you have an issue about adding fields in people search results page.
Per my knowledge, there is no issue in your steps, and the issue may be related to the search crawl in SharePoint online.
For SharePoint server on-premise, we can start the search full crawl, however, for SharePoint online, we could not start the search full crawl manually.
You can wait for some time to complete the search full crawl in SharePoint online, then check whether it works.
As this is the forum for SharePoint server on-premise, I’m not familiar with the SharePoint online search crawl, for this issue, I recommend you can post a new question in the forum for Office 365/SharePoint online.
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/forums/154.aspx
More experts will assist you, then you will get more information relation to SharePoint Online.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
    Thanks,
    Jason

  • Photoshop Elements 7 - some tagged people cannot be found

In photoshop elements 11, 4 people have vanished from the "All people" view. The actual photos are still tagged with their names, but I can't use the feature to see all photos with a particular person as they are neither in the "all people" view, nor the list of people tags. It so happens that these 4 names were previously used as tags in my previous version of Elements 7. Help please!

Please check Imported Tags category in the tags panel. Since these tags were not under People category in your previous version, they should be moved to Imported keyword tags list upon conversion.
Moreover you can type the person's name in Full Text Search box present on the top right corner of the Organizer window and check if these tags are brought upon conversion on not.
    Thanks
    Andaleeb

  • Workaround for PSE 6 "Exclude photos from category" bug

PSE 6 Organizer broke the ability to exclude from a search all photos tagged with a category or a tag within that category. Heres a partial workaround:
Suppose you want to show all photos not tagged with the Places category or a tag within the Places category. In previous versions, youd right-click Places in the Keywords Pane and select Exclude photos with Places category from search results. Thats broken in PSE 6 so instead, do this:
    1. In the Find bar, Show All. (This shows all photos.)
    2. In the Keyword Tags pane, check the box to the left of Places. (This shows only those photos tagged with Places or a tag within the Places category.)
    3. In the Find bar, select Options > Hide Best Match Results and then select Options > Show Results that Do Not Match. (Only photos not tagged with Places or a tag within the Places category will be shown.)
Unfortunately, you cant combine this workaround with additional search criteria, i.e. all photos without a Places tag and in the date range 1986 2000.
Thanks much to JonE at Elements Village who suggested this.

    Thomas,
Yeah, that's the limitation of the workaround.
Unfortunately, this is still broken in PSE 7. Its ironic that your use-case is precisely the one described in the PSE 6 and 7 User Guides as an example of how to use exclusion.
The text search box in PSE 7 provides a partial workaround for some uses of exclusion. You can do not places to find photos not yet tagged with any tag in the Places category. You can do not people to find all photos with no tags in the People category. But larry and not people wont find photos containing just Larry and not any other people it excludes all photos with any tag in the People category.
Another limitation of the text search box is that it matches all the text in the photo tags, categories, captions, notes, etc. So when I search for jasper, I get photos tagged with People > Friends > Jasper as well as Places > Jasper National Park.

  • PSE 8 Face Recognition and PSE5 "People" Tags

I have a lot of photos tagged in Windows PSE5  Organizer.  I have recently upgraded to PSE8 and need to think about how to align the two.
A simpliifed example: In my current catalog, I have two tags upder the tag category "People": Bert and Ernie.  Over the years, I have tagged pitures with both Bert and Ernie with both tags.   When I do a search on "Bert" I find pictures with just Bert and pictures with both Bert and Ernie.   This has been satisfactory.
Now PSE8 is finding Bert's face and asking me "Who is this?" or "Is this Bert?"  It creates brand new "Bert" tags.  (And oddly, they are in a different namespace than my old Bert tags since I don't get a "duplicate tag name" message.)
How should I align my old tags wtih the new?
    * Should I only drag the new "Bert" tag on those pictures with only Bert in them?
    * Or can I drag the new Bert tag on pictures with both Bert and Ernie?
I don't understand the technology well enough yet to know if it can get confused by the latter.

The Who Is This box is part of the new face-tagging in PSE 8.  When you invoke Find > Find People For Tagging, it will let you tag individual faces with People tags via the Who Is This box.  When a face is tagged, that tag can still be used like the old People tags -- you can assign it other pics, you can search for all pics that have the tag, etc.  But the Find People For Tagging command will also show the face associated with the tag.
For some people (including me), if you type the name of a pre-existing People tag exactly into the Who Is This Box, PSE will use it.  But some others have reported that PSE makes a new, duplicate tag in this case.  I don't know why.  (But it is clear that Adobe didn't really think through the issues of people with existing catalogs.)
The Find People For Tagging command creates its tags immediately under the People category.  You can merge the old tag with the new tag by selecting the old tag in the Keyword Tags pane, Edit > Select All, dragging the new tag (created by the Find People command) to those photos, and then deleting the old tag.   In the Keyword Tags pane, you can drag the new tag anyhere you want in the tag heirarchy.

  • How do I get the Windows 8.1 Mail/Calendar/People apps to connect to my company's Exchange server?

I have a Surface Pro 2 on my organization's domain, and while I have Outlook 2013 running fine on the desktop side, I'd really like to connect the Mail, Calendar, and People apps to my work Exchange account if possible.
First, a little background on my company's Exchange configuration, which is "extra secure" variety. Obviously, I'm using generic placeholders here. My email address is
[email protected], but our actual Exchange server is exchange.internaldomain.com, and my actual username is lasfir (first 3 of last name, first 3 of first name). I'm not 100% clear on our certificate process,
but from what I understand from talking with our Systems team, it's a self-signed certificate.
Anyway, when I try to add my account, I get the usual email address and password prompts. I enter
[email protected] and my password, which don't resolve. The app returns "we couldn't find settings for
[email protected] Provide us with more info and we'll try connecting again."
So I add the internaldomain as the domain and lasfir as my username and click Connect again. This time it returns "we still couldn't find settings for
[email protected] Providing this additional info may help. If you don't know this information, search online or check with your provider."
So I enter exchange.internaldomain.com as my server address and click Connect again. This time it returns "to connect to this account, you need a valid certificate on this PC. Contact your system administrator for more info." That tells me at least
it's finding my Exchange server, but I have no idea about the certificate thing. I reached out to our Exchange admin and our Systems guys, and they just weren't sure about the certificate process.
As one of the few people in my organization running Windows 8x, I'm a bit of a guinea pig for stuff like this. Any advice how to get this working?
    - Greg

It doesn't sound like the Exchange environment is configured in a manner to support these types of clients very well.  Have your Exchange team look at the following
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2012/11/26/supporting-windows-8-mail-in-your-organization.aspx
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2013/10/18/supporting-windows-mail-8-1-in-your-organization.aspx
From the latter article: "Communications applications can connect to a corporate Exchange service
configured to require certificate-based authentication. User authentication certificates can be provisioned to Windows 8.1 devices by administrators or end-users can browse to certificate and install to user certificate storage."
    You might want to:
Ask your Exchange team the public URLs (ExternalURL) for Exchange OWA & ActiveSync
Open the OWA URL in your Internet Explorer from your Surface
If you get a Certificate warning, open the certificate and select Install (NOTE: You may have to install the entire certificate chain).  Your desktop support team should be able to support this because it is the SAME process for standard Windows 8x
    desktops.
Confirm that you can open OWA on your surface with no more certificate or security warnings.  NOTE: The Exchange team will have to configured OWA properly.
Once confirmed, repeat the same steps for the activesync URL that they provided.
When done, try using the OWA OR ActiveSync URL value in your settings of your Mail client.
    Good Luck

  • How are people using Catalogs?

I know I asked this question some time ago, but I'd like to ask it again since I will soon be upgrading from LR2.7 to LR3.
I would like some friendly advice from people how they use Lightroom Catalogs.
I currently use several catalogs.  I have one strictly for day-to-day stuff where I might take shots of friends and family.
I use another catalog which I use strictly for Photography Workshops I go on.
Yet another one is one which I use strictly for the few professional photography jobs I have done.  I am not a professional photographer, but I have been paid for a few photo jobs.
Still another is one which I use strictly for pictures from others.  I get a lot of pictures from relatives who wish me to edit them.  Notably, I get a lot from my mother, and many of those pictures are of family and friends, of her flower garden.  So I do like to keep them myself, but I do so in a separate catalog.... in order to keep them separate from my own pictures.  I get a lot of photos from a friend of mine whom I used to work with in Europe....and he is now sending me many pictures he has taken while working in Ghana.  I like to keep some of these in a catalog but for now, I like that to be a separate catalog then the one I do most of my work in.
I would like to get some ideas from LR users how many catalogs they might use.  Do they separate their photos into different catalogs like I do?  Do they keep photos all in one big catalog?  Or perhaps do they just use a small number of catalogs.
I do like the ability to keep separate problems, but the 2 main "problems" I have with doing this are as follows: 1)I some times I accidentally put pictures in the wrong catalog.  I usually catch this soon and merely have to do the process again, putting the pictures in the right catalog. and 2)As far as I know, I do not think you can search by keyword (tag) across multiple calendar.  This is not a big issue, but it would be nice to be able to search by keyword to get, for example, all of the pictures taken by me and my Mother of say, my niece.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.
    Thanks for your input.
    Richard

I know Lightroom doesn't care about the directory/folder structure.  But I care how that directory/folder structure looks in Lightroom.  Again, it's kind of hard for me to explain this, but from what I've seen, LR mimics the structure you have on your hard drive.  It works just fine, but I don't want it to mimic the folder structure I had before with LR 2.7.
I'll try to explain, but, again, it's kind of hard for me to put into words without one actually seeing what I'm talking about.  My original folder structure on my hard drive was by year......2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, etc., each a primary folder.
Within each year, I had folders with the date(s) as well as a brief description of what was in that folder.....e.g., 122509_Christmas_at_Mom_and_Dads.
Within that same yearly folder (e.g. 2009), I also would have things like 042809_Kauai_Photo_Workshop as a subfolder.
With LR 2.7, I organized things by Catalog.  So I had a Catalog for personal photos such as Christmas with my family; I had a separate photo for Photo Workshops  I had yet another separate Catalog for pictures my Mom sends me to edit.  And, I had a few other catalogs.  It was just my way or organizing groups of photos.
My original post asked the question about how people use catalogs.....either single catalogs or multiple catalogs.  Yes, there were many comments about using keywords.  Based on the comments I had received, I did decide to combine all of my catalogs into one single catalog.
Within that new single catalog, however, I still want separate folders showing "personal pictures," "pictures from Mom," "workshop photos," "photos I did for a professional job," etc.  That's just the way I like to organize things.  As I found out, if I create separate folders in LR in a single catalog like this, it also creates a corresponding folder on my hard drive.  Therefore, I have to move those pictures into that corresponding folder if I want to keep these separate folders in LR.
One reason I like organizing things this way is that my Mom often will take similar pictures to what I take.  She'll take pictures of her grandkids that she wants me to "fix" by removing redeye, etc.  Because I'm not so sure she backs things up to the extent I do, I also like keeping her pictures to be sure they are properly backed up like I do backups.  When she takes pictures of the grandkids, I'm usually over visiting as well and take my own pictures.  So I like to keep these sets of pictures separate.   Yes, I know I could put keywords in there such as "Mom's Pictures" or "My Pictures," but I just like to keep these sets of pictures separate.  That's the way I am.  People like to organize things their own ways.
Having said all of that, I have been using keywords ever since I started using Lightroom, version 1.  I spend a lot of time doing so.  I do like them.  But, I also like having the LR folder organized the way I do.  Right now, I have a very long list of keywords.  If I want to find a group of pictures, I'm not so sure I'd find all of the ones I'm looking for unless I select the specific keywords I am looking for, and with the list as long as it is now (and it's growing), I might miss something.  With a single catalog, it does make it easier to search for all photos with a single key word, but the folders in LR help do help me narrow down what I might be looking for.
Lightroom provides these tools, and to me, I am taking advantage of them, including keywords, to help me organize my photos.  Once I get my current LR photos into the new folder structure, any new additions will be very easily and quickly done.
