People-Centric UI and BSP possibilities...?

Brian, I posted this thread since I haven't got any response from Mark Finnern in the SDN Suggestions Forum, yet. In my humble opinion this area is definately an area that should receive more attention here. Exspeciall from a SAP CRM and SP HR perspective in combination with BSP development this is a very valid and promising area. Eventhough SAP's stance is that as of Portal v6.0 sp8 the PC-UI capabilities should focus around WebDynpro, they still do not (I tested with Portal v6.0 sp9 and BSP's are still used. Can you consider my original request to create a seperate PC-UI thread? Thanks in advance for your thoughts, Tiest.

There are basically two arguments at the moment that swings the decision.
(1) Critical mass. SDN prefers only to open a new forum when they can see critical mass of discussions on any topic. Which also includes (in my personal opinion) support from the internal SAP group (to help moderate and provide deep technical help). What is usually done is to have the group develop in another forum, and later when critical mass is there, open a new forum. In this you can discuss PCUI in BSP forum. But we are still missing critical mass. I have emailed before the internal development group, and see some colleagues from time to time here. But still not at the level that it is going to carry an own forum. The time is not yet ripe.
(2) Within SDN there (until now) no real application related forums. Just low level platform forums. It see nothing speaking against this, it is just status quo. Recommended is also to look at the SAP Community. They have strong application related forums. See http://www.sap.com/community.
One remark: we will NOT accept any discussion here about the reasons for SDN versus SAP Community, which one is better, etc. Any post with comments on this topic will deleted without comment. Do not do it.

Customer Prospect in People Centric UI

Hi together,
can somebody explain to me, how to create an iView to create customer prospect in Portal?
I found two OSS-notes where I found the information, that I have to copy the BSP and to add my own view on to the customer (ie. OSS-note 712481).
In the iView "account", of the crm business package, there is called the BSP bsp_frame. In Customizing of the application CRMM_ACCOUNT (which is also defined in the iView) there is the package CRM_BSP_MODEL_IL_BP assigned. In this package I only found only the BSP-Application "crm_prn_acc_ov" - but I think this is not the account BSP.
Have anybody an idea, which BSP-Application I have to copy? Where I'll give in the new iView the information for the new BSP-Application? Which steps I have to do in customizing?

In the SAP GUI, business partner roles (BP roles) represent different views for a business partner.
This function is implemented in a different way in the People-Centric UI.
SAP delivers the "Account" and "Competitor" People-Centric UI applications with CRM Release 3.1 and CRM Release 4.0 - two views for the business partner. The "Contact person" application represents a special view for the contact person relationship of a business partner.
I'm working with CRM 4.0 and Portal-Application. The proplem is, that I wan't to create(!) business partners in the role prospect (BUP002) and additional in role general (00000). SAP delivers only two iViews one to create business partners in role "sold-to" (CRM001) and one to create competitors (CRM005) (see OSS-Note).

I m woking on CRM 5.0 I want to create a new layout in people centric UI. Let me describe u: I want to add a new field in my BP.Lets say SSN NO. can anybody tells me wheather I can do in STATIC MODEL OR DYNAMIC MODEL. What is the diff b/w this two.

Hi Chinmaya,
You have to first check whether your field to be added is available in the structure assigned to that Field group. In this case structure COMT_BSP_BP_SEAREQ_BUS1006. You can check this in SE11.
If available then you have to add that particular field in SPRO transaction for Field Group structure (Application Element-> Field Group -> Field group structure. In your case for Field Group BUP_BUS1006_SEARCH_04. Specify your View, sequence and other field details while doing so.
Then generate the field group in SPRO ( Application Element-> Field Group -> Layout generation) for your view.
Then you can view the field in PCUI.
If the field is not available in structure then it is a complex process.

The actual truth is that MVC (controllers) has nothing to do with frames or not.
Look at the problem from the browser side. Here you require a frameset (or you can look at iframes) to achieve what you want. So the browser must call an URL, let us call it default.htm, that will render out the frameset. This default.htm can be a page, a controller with print_string instructions or even a controller that calls a view that prints out the HTML. Personally, I simply use a page.
Default.htm will then have source about like this:
<frameset>
<frame src="applog.do" ... >
<frame src="personaldata.do" ...>
</frameset>
Please check HTML documentation to get <frameset> correct, including things like fixed sizes and scrolling. Also, frameset documents have a different page structure than normal HTML pages, and does not for example have a <body> sequence. Most people make mistakes here. HTML documentation is highly recommended. (There are no tags to render out framesets. You should just write the HTML directly.)
The important aspect here is that we are just using the URLs of the different controllers to load them into the different frames we require. From view of the browser, these are just URLs that will return HTML. Whether pages or controllers+views are executed to generate the HTML makes no difference to the browser.

Definition of people centric?

Dear all,
forgive my ignorance and if this is off topic but I came across that expression when I read an announcement concerning mySAP CRM and wonder what is all about.
From the expression I would expect that the user not the process is on focus of the design, am I right? Is it just that and what, if any, is the difference to user-centered?
When I searched SAP Help I found the expression only in context with CRM - but I would expect that concepts like ESS have also a people centric approach. Are there more (to come?)?
I really would appreciate if somebody could help me out with some details or comments on the subject.

I think you should ask the SAP Marketing Guys at SAP Community what they mean with people centric. SDN is more focused on the technical aspects.

for which version of Business Package and which SP Portal 6.0. is SAP-Reference note: 659881 "Compatibility of the navigation of the People Centric CRM with EP6" valid.
We brought the note for portal 6.2.0.4 (BP 60.2.3) and
navigation functioned not.
Does anyone know this problem and can help me?

Hello Irene,
Go ahead and do as per the instructions given in the note. Download the zip file and proceed as instructed. Everything works fine. This note is applicable to the SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 and any level of the support package.

Got a problem .I have customised my webclient but cannot execute the people-centric UI.I am currently using a 4.0 server (IDES) and the institution cannot help because they claim that they do don have any access.can any one suggest ways on how i could get access to people- centric.? Does 5.2 server have the access to people-centric UI? if so, can you suggest any provider who can give me access at a fee?

Go to Settings>Notifications and turn alerts/sounds on for the app(s) in question. Not all apps have all options.

IAC view and BSP iviews gives pop up for user id and password

I am facing a problem in quality portal.
we have SSO configuration between Portal and ECC system and the Jco connection using SSO with login tickets are working fine,test and ping both are succesfull.
The ESS and MSS webdynpro application are also working fine.
But the IAC iviews and BSP iviews says "session managment will not work ! Please check the DMS log files for details" and then ask for user id and password of the ECC system,But the system alias that i am using,is configured for SSO with logon tickets.
same iviews are working fine in devlopment system with system alias with SSO Login tickets but in qa it is asking for id and password ...
I have checked all the system properties also FQDN of ECC system is also maintained.
Please suggest what could be the issue ??

When messages about Session management popup then it is 99% an FQDN issue, but you say you already checked it.
Did you also checked the parameters:
- ITS Host Name
- Web AS Host Name
... in your system object?
