People Magazine Error

I downloaded an issue of People Magazine in January without any trouble. However, earlier this week, after I downloaded the latest issue, it stopped downloading at about 9%. Now when I try and download it, it tells me "An unknown error has occurred." I tried calling Apple but it refereed me the website and then hung up. Im out the money for the mag as well as the ability to read i.

After establishing the Credit Card account (i.e. after you have made purchases), you can remove the credit card information by editing your payment info, choosing "None".

People Search Error

Since upgrading to SharePoint Server 2013 SP1 (April 17th release) our search for people returns results but the links to the User Profile My Site page are invalid (double URL Encoding). If, from the search results page, a user clicks on a person the link
looks like:
https://mysite.contoso.com/Person.aspx?accountname=Domain%255CUserName. The account name link should just be Domain%5CUserName, converting the backslash to %5C, however, it looks like the results are reformatting the link from % to %25 resulting in %255C.
I'm not sure why it started doing this. The images next to the search results appear so the user profile phot link is correct and is not double encoded. Another place where this is occuring is in the video viewer page (videoplayerpage.aspx) the image
next to the User Information above the Related web part is a broken link
https://mysite.contoso.com/User%2520Photos/Profile%2520Pictures/username_MThumb.jpg?t=63515195352. As you can see when generating the link it has already converted the space to %20 but it then for some reason reformats it again convering the % in %20 to
%25 resulting in %2520 which doesn't go anywhere. Does anyone know why the already formated links are reformated?

I can confirm the workaround proposed by Trevor of modifying Search.ClientControls.js delivers the base result desired, although I think there may be an issue with that in that it's going to be tricky to push out the modified JavaScript and ensure
that it gets updated in downstream proxies & end users browser caches. I had some user reports firsthand and seen other reports where the modified JS is not seen to have been updated on the end users client.
This is to be expected as the symptom of the change not seeming to kick in is definitely an effect originating downstream from the server - if it's not the local workstations client caching, it could be downstream proxies.
For the uninitiated, Chris O'Brien has a good post from a while back on some of the principles of SP clientside cache behaviour in regards to JS:

If you needed to validate/bust the caching, you could use Fiddler on any workstation and change the expires headers for the file in question, or modify the "?Rev=" querystring part in the following line on your SharePoint page output and you
should see the expected patched script:

Unfortunately that script reference is not directly referenced the standard SP 2013 Masterpages (not that that would help for people using OOTB masterpages anyhow) but rather generated on the fly. I've not caffeinated enough today to follow that
trail any deeper.
People Search is one of those places where key SharePoint stakeholders will notice breakages right away- profiles & social are obviously critical in SharePoint. I think the best thing would be if an official patch for this were expedited
at high priority by MS, before we all descend too much further down the rabbit hole of trying to work around this bug. :)

People recognition error in PSE 9 Organizer

I am new to PSE and PRE. I purchased version 9, installed and began importing my photos and videos. My library has 8566 entries. At first people recognition worked fine finding photos with faces and suggesting names as I entered them. Then it read "No unlabeled people found in your selection." I thought this was great because I had everyone tagged. I noticed as I looked through my photos that not everyone is tagged. Now I get boxes asking "Who is this?" and when I click the box I no longer get a suggestion. Also if I try to run people recognition it says "No unlabled people found in your selection." I get this message even after importing new photos that were just taken. PSE Organizer recognizes the face but still says no unlabled people. How can this be? Please help.

Can you tell me what is happening after you tried my suggestions. Are you still getting "No unlabled people found in your selection" when pressing the Start people recognition button?
I may have duplicated this issue. I will ask that you investigate something else. First, some background information...
Running face recognition makes an entry in the catalog. In addition it creates a file for every photo which face recognition is run on. This file is placed in the BreezeData directory under the catalog directory. I was able to duplicate the issue where the propmt "No unlabled people found in your selection" by write protecting the BreezeData directory.
Possibly, there are issues with this directory on your system. I just helped someone else who had directory permissions on the .dat files which caused other issues. Possibly there are permission problems in this directory? Or, could this directory contain too many files (NTFS volumes should allow for a very large amount of files)?
This is what I would like you to check...
1) Check to make sure the security settings are set to "Full Control" on the BreezeData directory.
a) Right click on the BreezeData directory from the Windows Explorer
b) Click on the Security tab
c) Click on the Advanced button
d) Click on the Effective Permissions tab
e) Click on "Select..."
f) Type in the user name which is currently logged in or the user name you wish to check permissions on in the box "Enter the object name to select (examples):
g) Press the "Ok" button.
f) Review the checkboxes in the "Effective permissions" list to ensure there is a checkbox next to all items in the list.
If you don't have sufficent permissions, then add full control to the desired users. You may want to verify that the catalog and all content under the catalog is set to Full Control. Make sure to exit the Organizer and restart before you try face recognition again.
2) If 1) does not indicate any problems, see if you can actually navigate to the BreezeData directory.
a) How many files are in this directory?
b) Can you open up any file?
c) Can you create a temporary file such as a word document or even a text file with Notepad?
Note that the same thing happens for media-analysis except for a file is created in the CAXMPFiles directory for every photo analyzed.
I hope this helps. I'm not sure I can help you beyond this and it would be best to contact Adobe directly to report this.

Internal error when person doing people search has matching name as search query

I'm trying to find a solution for peculiar problem in our SP 2010 people search. We get this error
Internal server error exception: System.Threading.ThreadAbortException: Thread was being aborted.
at Microsoft.SharePoint.WebPartPages.DataFormWebPart.PrepareAndPerformTransform(Boolean bDeferExecuteTransform)
when person doing the search has matching name. e.g. I as a person have name: jane doe. If I do people search either using jane or doe, I get internal error. If I search john or any other phrase, people searches return correct result. Has anyone encountered
similar problem and found a solution for that?

People Search results links are incorrect?

Hello Everyone,
Just setup People Search on SP2013 SP1 (July 2014 CU). I have not used it in the past.
I am finding that after I search for a staff member the results show fine. However if I click on the user link to go to their MySite page I get the "Sorry, something went wrong" page with "User not found".
When comparing the URLs I see this difference:
Url from search result -
https://.../Person.aspx?accountname=DOMAIN%255Cusername
Url to the users MySite -
https://.../Person.aspx?accountname=DOAMIN%5Cusername
It appears is adding a 25 in the url preventing the "\"?
Can anyone confirm if this is a bug in SharePoint 2013 SP1 (July 2014 CU)?

Yeah, that's a known issue caused by the MS14-022 security patch.
It is hoped that it's in the September CU according to Stefan's comment in the link below:

People picker works in Central Admin but not other site collections

I am having a sudden problem with adding users to permissions for document libraries. It appears to only affect the main site collection. The people picker displays some users that are already in site collection when you start typing letters of the name
of the user. However at some point in the typing the message appears "sorry we're having trouble reaching the server." The problem does not occur in Central Admin when adding permissions. Using Fiddler there is an error when I get the message "sorry..."
"500, HTTP, SERVERNAME, /_vti_bin/client.svc/ProcessQuery." Also when I go to the library and select "shared with" I get error "Unexpected response from server. The status code of response is '500'. The status text of response
is 'System.ServiceModel.ServiceActivationException'." I believe they are connected. Any help is appreciated.

Error Handling and Error Messages

I already posted this in the java programming forum, but I dont think the people responded understand patterns, or what I was asking. Here is my original post, for reference I am not asking how to catch and exception, or how to display an error, I am asking about the pattern implementation.
I am currently in the process of creating my Exception model for my program, and I have a question about error messages. I was reading the book "Effective Java Programming" which deals with patterns and it states that an exception should state the error and report information on all relavent states. For instance If you have a class the modeled some sort of memory array, and an access was requested to a block of memory outside the array you should throw an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException("Index:" + index + ", start:" + 0 + ",end:" + Array.length) or if you made your own MemoryAddressOutOfBoundsException(same as above) which when printed should read
ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: Index:-1, start:0, end:0

The pertinate information is the index, start index, and end index.
The book CLEARLY states as an industry design pattern that exceptions weather checked or unchecked should not contain user error messages. For instance with the above example one might be tempted to use this as the exception message: "The memory addres index is not a valid memory address." This is clearly a user error message.
So heres my situation. In a gui environment (command line console not visible) how do you generated a user error message, letting the user know that an internal exception has occured.
In my previous implementation of my project, I used the exception message the user error message and just reported the message on a dialog. I have heard of people using error catalogs, which centrallizes all the error messages into a single class or file.
I was wondering if and Error catalog was a good approach, how I might go about implementing one, and if not how do you the community handle user error messages.

HT4943 Issue with People Mag App and the Newsstand

Does anyone know how to get the people app back as the newsstand took over and I am not able to see my previous publications and it won't let me use the People app.

Itunes won't sync ipod (error 54)

I installed the new itunes and bought a new ipod and initially I had a problem getting itunes to recognize my device but after going into update driver software it now recognizes the ipod but I still can't sync! It will start to and then I get an error message 54. Any help is appreciated as I am really tired of spending so much time on this one ipod problem.

This is from an old post - it seems to have fixed the problem for some people.
Error -54 is a file permissions issue -
if you open the Start menu & type %userprofile% (including both % symbols) then hit Enter you should see the My Music folder, which is the default location for iTunes music files.
Open My Music, select the iTunes folder
Then, make sure you have sufficient control over the contents of that folder -
    right-click on the folder, go to Properties
    Security tab, Advanced..
    Permissions tab, Change Permissions...
    click your account name in the list, make sure it says 'Full Control' [if not, reply to that effect & we will need to revise this answer]
    check the box underneath for "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object"
    click OK. That should recursively give correct permissions right down the folder hierarchy.

Yeah, I remember when they started teh 1400 pixel requirement, I was not a happy camper that day...
Amazon doesn't care at all about the data ha! However, their awful pricing rules over shadow their ease of uploading. I still can't believe Apple got in trouble for "price fixing" when Amazon forces us to fit our titles into their "fixed" range, or else we get hit with a massive penalty (loss of royalty, which is the same thing)! That's the one reason I like iTunes over Amazon/Barnes & Noble, though we actually haven't uploaded to B&N yet.
Anyways, my workflow is: InDesign ePub export, Clean it up with Sigil, then use Calibre to split the pages, generate the TOC, and convert to Mobi.
Also, remember ePub is just a Zip file. So if you really want to inspect the file, change it's file extension to .zip and unzip it. I've tried doing this through Finder but it never seems to work so I do it via command line (Terminal). Then I can manually tweak it if needed. One example of this being a requirement, was when I was getting an error from Book Proofer that the ePub was encrypted! Turned out that InDesing placed a little xml file named "encrypted.xml" inside the META-INF folder. Luckily the fix was to just delete the file, zip the data backup and then change the extension back to .epub.

Error: Thead is being stopped

I get an error in my code: "Thread is being stopped" It is an exception that is thrown and looks like it's got something to do with the RecordSet object. I am attempting to get the list of sales order drafts from the database. I want to convert all draft orders to sales orders.

The error occurs every time in this piece of code. Sometimes on the DoQuery and it was once on the last line. If I move the 2 GetBusinessObject rows to imediately after the DoQuery, the error occurs on the GetBusinessObject line.
I saw a couple of posts with people having errors on RecordSet, but am not sure how to solve this. I don't have the SQL password for the clients and am not sure how else I can get the list of draft order.
Please help - any help is appreciated!

How do I fix Itunes error (-54)

Whenever I try to sync my Iphone an error comes up saying "The Iphone cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (-54)" I have updated my Itunes, and my Iphone is on iOS 6. My laptop runs on windows 8. I have tried finding a locked file but none of my files are locked, and I saw that for some people this error came up because of their photos but I don't sync photos. The only things I sync are apps, music and pod casts

Is it possible to turn off FlashPlayer error pop-up?!

Is it possible to bypass or turn off the FlashPlayer 10 error pop-up in browser?
I tried the "omit trace actions" and "permit debugging" in Publish Settings but the pop-up still appears in browser testing.
The error is well known and I dont need to solve it right now, but I need to show the project to some people without errors.

Magazine subscriptions itunes

I subscribe to Times and People Magazine and everything works well with the ipad apps. What I cannot understand is that downloaded magazines keep un-downloading.
I mean, a magazine I have already downloaded goes back to having to get downloaded again. I would think it should just stay on the ipad. I could not find a setting where this gets controlled.

I am getting the same problem, have you found a solution to this?
