People Recognition loses "ignore image match" choices

I'm new to Elements but what I'm seeing seems like a glaring bug, so I'm hoping I'm just doing something wrong.
In the organizer, I click "Start People Recognition".  After entering some names, it shows me images that "might match", you have to click on a small "x" in the upper right hand corner of the image to "mark that that choice as not matching the person".
The problem is that if you instead double-click on the image to get a larger view of the person so you can verify who the person is (based on context in the rest of the image), when you click the "back button", I found that Elements "forgot or lost the other images that did not match".  This is a ROYAL pain in the butt and basically means that you can't really use the "expand to full image" feature (if you've selected any people to be "ignored").
Is this a known bug or is there something I'm doing wrong?  Or does elements expect you to click on Save before expanding to the entire image.
I'm using Elements Organizer 9.
Thanks for any help.

  • Reset "ignore" in people recognition in PSE 9

    Hi all,
First, as I am no native speaker: please excuse my bad English, thanks.
Does anybody know how to reset the people recognition?
Problem: I did people recognition over my whole catalog. Doing this, I told PSE to ignore some people. Now, after a while, I would like to tag these people too (and not by using the "white rectangle" manually for some thousands of photos).
If I click on people recognition now, PSE tells me, that there are no people unrecognized any more.
==> how can I get PSE 9 to "forget", which people where ignored and to suggest them all (except the ones with tag) again?
Please help without forcing me to delete all my tags already set ;-)
    Thanks a lot in advance!
    Mano

I would not recommend you remove the BreezeData folder or any content within this.  You will loose the ability for PsE 9 to make people suggestions on the existing media in the catalog.  In addition, attempting to run People Recognition on any existing media in the catalog will issue a dialog "No unabled people found in your selection" even though there are unlabled people.
The only way I have found to reset the "ignore" option is to remove the media from the catalog and then re-import it.  Export the tags before you do this.  You will have to confirm faces again.  I would try baby steps with a small test catalog to make sure you don't loose anything before you try this on your real catalog.
It would be great if Adobe could add an option (Under the Edit menu and with the right mouse click) "Run People Analysis" on photos which would allow you to start over with people recognition on a photo.  This would add the bounding boxes which were removed with the "ignore" click.
This is what I think is happening...
Once a media item is added to the catalog, a flag is set on that media item telling it that People Analysis has not been executed yet.
If Media-Analysis/Analyze Photos for People Automatically is enabled, the People Analysis will run on newly imported photos.  This will identify potential people with the bounding boxes and some data which helps identify the face.  This creates the data in the BreezeData folder.  I think the bounding box information is also duplicated in the catalog.pse9db file -- but face identification data.
If Media-Analysis/Analyze Photos for People Automatically is not enabled, People Analysis will run when you click on the "Start People Recognition".
The people tag information is also stored in the catalog.pse9db file when you 'confirm' a face to the bounding box.
Some flag must be set in the catalog.pse9db file after People Analysis is run on a photo to tell the system that People Analysis has run.  This prevents it from running ever again on that particular media item.  Running Auto-Analysis will not run People Analysis as it seems these are considered to be separate tasks.
You will also run into problems if you edit a photo using photoshop elements and save it as the same file name.  Again, the Organizer will not make any recommendations on faces because people analysis was run once on the photo -- even though the content may have been changed.  The "Run People Analysis" option would help with this scenario as well!

  • Can the people recognition function in PSE 9 be configured to look for a specific person?

    HI All:
I have over 100k photos in my library.  I'd like to have PSE 9 search through these images and identify only my family members.  For instance, I would like PSE 9 to serach for images of only my daughter and provide a tag for each image that contains her picture.  With this many photos it just takes too long to use the people recognition function because I must go through every person (face) that it identifies rather than just my daughter's.  So, is there a way in PSE 9 to restrict the photo recognition feature to search for only one person/face?
    Thanks, Jeff

I have the same need. We have numerous app vendors that change their certificate that I need to deploy to 2500 PC's. We were using the registry via MS JVM to import these certificates. That is no longer an option with 2003 Server and Vista not supporting MS JVM. I have tried the Keytool as a login script process but it keeps asking for a password. Doubt we would ever be able to locate anyone who would know what it was. So far I have found the system deployment setup but am having problems actually getting it to work. Here is what I have so far for the deployment.config:
    deployment.system.config=file\:/M\:/Winstall/Utils/Javacert/deployment.properties
    deployment.system.config.mandatory=false
    The deployment.properties has:
    deployment.system.security.trusted.certs=file\:/M\:/Winstall/Utils/Javacert/Trusted.certs
The Trusted.certs file ahs all the certificates we support from a network application point of view. Any help would be appreciated.

  • People Recognition in PsE 8 vs PsE 9

I have 16000 photos currently in PsE's version 8 organizer.  I'm thinking about moving to PsE 9 (also PrE 9).  Have PsE 9's people recongition features improved?  One of the previous releases of PsE would show faces from many photos and allow you to manually tag the photos.  This was very optimized -- although it would not attempt to automatically recognize the faces.  PsE 8 seems to only allow recongition in one photo at a time which is very slow - although it seems to actually guess on the faces for you as a head start.  What has changed in PsE 9?

well , pse 9 has come up with better People Recognition this time , they have made the user interface better and speedier. Also , if you want to tag multiple faces at one time them simply select the desired images and click on face button present in the keyword panel. This will show up a dialog which will ask you to label some faces . On the basis of that it will give your suggestions too Hence making the entire process smoother.
Its surely worth a try !

  • Automatic people recognition in Elements Organizer

    Hi everyone,
Because I have limited online disk space, I've been using Elements Organizer for quite some time to catalogue all my offline images. What I do is to burn all my images to DVD's and then import these images into Organizer as offline media with the “Generate previews” option. This way I can quickly find out on which DVD a particular image is kept. This way I save on disk space on my computer.
Now I would like to get some advice and comments from you guys on using Organizer this way. I get the impression that the automatic people recognition does not work with offline media. Is this a correct assumption? How do you best optimize use of disk space when you have over 10000 images. My current version of Photoshop Elements is version 12.
Your comments and advice is much appreciated. Thanks!
    Regards,
    Dave

    Hi, cihurst!
Bridge doesn't currently have a way to recognize people, like Photoshop Elements Organizer, but the keywords should certainly be recognized! When you're in Bridge, check out the Keywords Panel (Window > Keywords Panel). It should contain the tags that you set in Organizer.
Let us know if this helps!

  • Strange behavour of "People Recognition"

I've just installed Elements, and was looking forward to test the face recongnition. After install I marked some picures, pressed the "People Recognition" and it analyzed the images. Everything worked out fine.
Now, a few hours later", when mark some pictures and choose this feature it start the "Analysis". When the progressbar reach 100% it dissapears, and .. well thats it. Nothing more happens.
Anyone know whats going on, or how this can be fixed?

... you select some thumbnails and do Find > Find Faces For Tagging.
The progress bar appears, goes to 100%, and then progress bar
disappears.  But the Organizer keeps running (it doesn't crash)?
Yes, this is correct. The same thing happens when I select only one photo. Organizer do not crash.
I should mention that "Generating thumbnails" is running in the background.

  • Restoring People Recognition hangs PSE12

I upgraded my computer from XP to Windows 7 and installed all the updates for Windows 7 before installing PSE12.
After installing PSE12, I converted my PSE8 organizer catalog to PSE12.  I had to rename the catalog since the default name was already used.  The conversion worked fine and the photos showed up in the browser.
However, a process started called "restoring people recognition". I only used face matching a few times in PSE8 and don't really want to use it in PSE12.  Anyway  the process  showed 9% completion and stops and PSE12 organizer is unresponsive.  At this point I cannot use the organizer since it gets hung on the "restoring people ..." process even after rebooting.  Also, I looked for a process to kill in the task manager but was only able to kill the entire PSE12 organizer.  Any suggestions?

  • People recognition no longer recognising a person

I have been working my way through my digital photographs, tagging them with Photoshop Elements 8.  I am using the People Recognition feature to tag photos with who is in them and it works very well most of the time.
There is, however, one person that it used to recognize in photos and now never recognizes.  I am never presented with the prompt "Which of these people is not XXX?" for this person, nor does it ever suggest this person as one of the three most likely faces when asking me "Who is this?".  Both of these features seem to work fine for everybody else in my people tags.
The person in question is in an awful lot of my photos so it is turning out to be a real pain.
Can anybody suggest a way for me to fix this?

Several of us have observed that as you tag more and more faces of a given person, the recognition gets worse.  I think that Adobe may have chosen an inappropriate "learning" algorithm that, as you tag more and more instances of person, builds up an "average" set of facial features that are more and more generic (average) and less unique to that person.  This negative feedback loop gets worse if you tag the "poor" occurrences of the person's face (partially obscured, in profile, too small, poor lighting, etc.).  (And of course, the whole point of tagging is to identify each face!)
To see if this is what's happening to you: Create a brand new tag for that person, e.g. "Jane Doe 2", and use that tag exclusively on all new pics of her.  Does face recognition for her get better, at least temporarily?   Unfortunately, there is no way to merge all the recognized faces of two tags together -- you can assign "Jane Doe 2" to all the pics currently assigned with "Jane Doe" and then delete "Jane Doe", but you'll lose all the face rectangles identifying the occurrences of Jane Doe within the pics.

  • People Recognition: Duplicate Tags Created

In going through the process of identifying and confirming names and faces in People Recognition, the organizer will sometimes create a new tag that is identical to an existing tag, even when I have selected the existing tag from the list of suggestions. Having more than one tag for a given person causes chaos. Anyone have an explanation and/or solution? Thanks

    You can merge/delete  duplicates.
Select the Media tab in Organizer and on the top menu click:
View >> Show People in Tag Panel
Click on one of the duplicate names (use the right pointing symbol) and then use Ctrl+A or shift-click to select all of the chosen images.
Then drag the correct name from the tag panel and drop on to one of the highlighted images. That will mark them all; so they should have both tags .
In the tag panel click on the one you wish to delete and use the minus button or delete key to get rid of it.

Your image history (if I understand you properly) is stored in your catalog file, and nowhere else, and so it is only on a single drive.
Do you mean you have edited photos on multiple drives? This isn't a problem for Lightroom at all, the software doesn't care, and you can leave things just the way they are. But if it bothers you for some reason, you can move the photos to a single drive if you want. In Lightroom select the desired photos or folders (it's easier to do this using Folders) and drag them to the desired drive.
Alternative if you will be moving lots of folders: Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders

  • Problems with People Recognition in PSE 9 that were not in PSE 8.

Hello, I recently downloaded PSE 9 Trial Version and imported a PSE 8 Backup into PSE 9.  It took quiet some time but it eventually converted the library to suit PSE 9.  I have noticed a couple of small things that I find very irritating and that seem to be a step backwards.  Firstly, when I am in people recognition mode, not all of the names auto complete when I type in the first 3 or 4 letters of the name like they used to in PSE 8, even though the people are in my people list.  This might not seem like a huge problem, but I have 100's of people in my catalog and if I do not spell the name exactly as I typed it before, I will create a second instance of the same person.  Secondly, when a bunch of faces come up in the "Name these people" Screen, I used to be able to hold down Shift or Ctrl key and select multiple people to name at once, PSE 9 wont let me do this, I have to name them one by one, even if they are the same person.  I'm sure this is just a small issue that Adobe will get around to, but it is a huge turn off from PSE 9.

So it sounds like PsE is installed correctly if new people tags work correctly.
I have seen another issue that might be related.  You can manually create a people tag by adding it to the people category.  As long as this tag exist in the 'root' people category, people recognition seems to work correctly.  You can also have people recognition create a tag during the people recognition process.  These are two different tag types if you look inside the database.  And they behave differently.  For example, you can merge tags which have been manually created whereas this functionaliy is not possible for tags created through people recongition.  (By the way, I would not recommend merging the manual tags because you will run into issues when PsE finds a face on a merged and deleted tag).
Once a face has been tagged to a manual people tag, the tag can be moved into a sub-category.
I don't know if tags created in PsE 8 are considered to be manual or not in PsE 9 but this may explain some things
Have you tried to move the people tags to the root people category and see if the functionaly works as expected?
I can't help you beyond this -- you have exhausted my people recognition skills.

  • When I sync PDF file "with links" to iPad i lose my images.

When I sync a Adobe File (which includes links) to Good Reader or any other PDF Reader from my MacBook Pro to iPad, I lose my images.  Tried to save down to Adobe 6 and 7 but still now success.  Someone posted earlier to go to Preview and save as JPEG since iPad has issues with JPEG2000, however then I lose my links. Does anyone have a solution?  My Adobe file is already 13MB and I would like to keep the size down as much as possible.

You likely need support from Adobe. The Apple User Guides are made with Adobe InDesign and they work fine with hyperlinks and illustrations in iBooks and GoodReader.

  • How can I remove people tags from MULTIPLE images in Organizer 13?

How can I remove people tags from MULTIPLE images in Organizer 13?  The strategy for removing keyword tags does not work. It appears that keyword tags and People tags are considered something completely different in 13.  I highlight multiple images, right click, and under keyword tags it says there are no keyword tags. There does not appear to be an option for people or other tags. Can anyone help? It is going to take literally hundreds of hours for me to do this one photo one tag at a time.  ??

That CSS is complete nonsense. The correct way to remove borders from around links is here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/417110.
If you want to get rid of dotted lines, they are almost certainly caused by the outline property. However, outlines around links are there for a reason: it provides a visual "you are here" clue to people who navigate the web with the keyboard, either through preference or because of disability. You shouldn't remove the dotted outline without providing a different visual clue.
