People Recogntion in Elements 8

I am having trouble using the people recognition feature in 8.0. I have selected and identified my wife in 8 pictures out of a catalog of 2500 pictures. When I tell it to find other pictures with her in it, I get about 8 pictures none of which is her.She is probably in 200 - 300 of the pictures. The same thing happens with other people. The recognition feature is either not searching the entire catalog or it is failing to recognize people.
Is anyone else having this problem and has anyone figured out how to solve it?

If you'd like to identify what may be causing the problem with face recognition, I suggest a next step would be to make a new test catalog, import several of the problem raw photos with "good" faces, and see if Find > Find People For Tagging can identify the faces. If it can't, then try saving the photo as a JPEG, import it into another new test catalog, and try again. This process will identify whether the problem is particular photos, all photos from a given camera model, or a problem with your catalog. At that point, a workaround may suggest itself. Of course, you may decide it isn't worthwhile. (I know it's frustrating to do Adobe's quality assurance for them, but that's the reality these days.)
Is it any limitations on the number of images you can have in one catalog? ... I have about 30k pictures, and 10k of these are raw-files.
In general, people have reported PSE 6/7/8 catalogs with up to 65K files, and many have reported catalogs in the 30 to 40K range. When PSE 6 was first released, Adobe reported testing with up to 100K photos.
I don't know if the face recognition has a lower limit. However, I've tested it on my 14K catalog (almost all JPEGs), and it seemed to work fine.
The organizer seems a bit slow and buggy.

Automatic people recognition in Elements Organizer

Hi everyone,
Because I have limited online disk space, I've been using Elements Organizer for quite some time to catalogue all my offline images. What I do is to burn all my images to DVD's and then import these images into Organizer as offline media with the “Generate previews” option. This way I can quickly find out on which DVD a particular image is kept. This way I save on disk space on my computer.
Now I would like to get some advice and comments from you guys on using Organizer this way. I get the impression that the automatic people recognition does not work with offline media. Is this a correct assumption? How do you best optimize use of disk space when you have over 10000 images. My current version of Photoshop Elements is version 12.

Bridge doesn't currently have a way to recognize people, like Photoshop Elements Organizer, but the keywords should certainly be recognized! When you're in Bridge, check out the Keywords Panel (Window > Keywords Panel). It should contain the tags that you set in Organizer.

People names in elements organizer are not saved.

After i name people in elements organizer 10 why are the names not saved? I have to name some of them again and again each time I reopen the program. I'm using the same catalog each time. Also, some names, even though they are in my people list, have to be entered (typed in) each time as Elements does not prompt

adding other encoding before the famous en-US,UTF-8 one gives warning for default lang and falling back.

EDIT: my findings on this matter.
even adding all the langs to /etc/locale.gen and then using locale-gen command doesnt fix this. cause this are different issues.
this problem as a whole doesn't have a solution, cause linux unlike windows doesn't have a default inbuilt filename encoding and it all depends on your environment.
linux just treat the filename in the encoding you tell it. so it cant detect anything cause there is nothing to detect.
from its perspective filename are just binary data ready to be interpreted as wished by the user.
widows on the other hand uses UTF-16.
plz if anybody have another contradicting point ,then reply but plz dont say I have to use correct encoding. the only way to fix it is using convmv util and that requires finding the correct original encoding.

Restoring People Recognition Data: Elements 11 Organizer is frozen @ 55%. Why?

Windows 7 Professional O/S.
Prior version Elements 8 also installed.

The Organizer preferences may have become corrupted, needing to be automatically re-built on a re-start.
Close Elements.
Click the Start Button and then your user name (in place of mine) and navigate to:
C: Users >> 99Jon >> AppData >> Roaming >> Adobe >> Elements Organizer >>11.0 >> Organizer
Delete the PSA file (with key symbol) and delete Status.dat
After deleting these two files re-start the program

Changing normal tags to people tags

Hello,
I'm using Elements 11. I imported some photos to my catalog and the program asked if I wanted to import the tags as well. Of course I did and so did the program. However, now when I want to find pictures of a specific person that I tagged in people taggs in elements are separate from the photos in the normal tag with the same name of that person. So I have to review both places to find all of the pictures for that person.
Is there any way to change a normal tag to a "peoples tag" so that I will find all images of that person when I want to find it?
In my opinion it is a little strange that there is now the distinction between two different tag types. If I save the tags to the file via "Save Metadata to Files" then the peoples tags are written in the normal tags section in the files since Windows seems to know only one tag system. So when I import the files again in Elements then naturally the peoples tags are converted to normal tags because it could not distinguish which is which.
Is there a better solution? Can I just combine the normal tags with people tags? It's far too hard to retag all of the photos and the automatic face recognition doesn't work very well in many cases so a lot of work is necessary.

The easiest method is to simply drag the new people icon to a batch of selected photos.
Start by ensuring the people icons are displayed at the bottom of the right-hand panel under the Media tab. If you cant see them as a list go to the top menu:
View >> Show People in Tag Panel
Then click on the right pointing icon to the left of People Tags to expand the list (see image below) and you can also use the plus symbol to add new people icons.
Now scroll to the top of your keywords and choose a persons name that was imported by clicking on the chevron to the right of the highlighted (people) keyword. Press Ctrl+A to select all the photos of that person or use Shift+Click on the first and last. Now drag the new people icon for that person on to one of the thumbnails and it will be added to all the selected photos.
Return to the top of the keyword list and right click on the old person tag and choose delete. That will remove it from all photos with that word.

Lightroom VS Photoshop Elements for Beginners

I am creating a website for beginners on computers and other home electronics and I am going to do a post about what the best program is to get for a beginner at photo editing. I have seen so many people using Photoshop Elements to start out with but many people who have gotten editing programs prefer Lightroom and use it and say its a better program to begin with... Do you have any suggestions on which I should tell poeple to go with? They each have strength and weaknesses. LR for example has the same full RAW processor as full Photoshop, but doesn't have the full range of image editing features.
There isn't a simple answer. I think you would be better off reviewing both and pointing out the differences so that your blog audience can make an informed decision for themselves.

Auto Analyzer in Premier Elements 11

I've never before owned or used any video software. I just purchased and installed Premier Elements 11.
I searched for "Updates", which the program found. After starting to download, I received an error dialog to the effect of: -- cannot proceed; must first uninstall "Elements Auto Analyzer".
What the heck was that, I thought. I had no idea, but I am familiar with the Windows boot procedure, so I went to "msconfig>Startup", and sure enough, I found "Elements Auto Analyzer". I unchecked it, closed msconfig, and rebooted the computer. Now that "Elements Auto Analyzer" was not running, the update to Premier Elements 11 downloaded and installed without a problem.
Ok, I am familiar with Windows’ "msconfig"; but what about others? How do most people update Premier Elements 11? So I rooted around as I was exploring this brand-new-to-me program. I stumbled upon "Organizer>Media Analysis>Run Analyzer on System Startup", and its associated checkbox.
So I ask, what is this Media Analysis tool? Should I leave the box checked, knowing that it then loads this Auto Analyzer tool upon every system startup? Or should I uncheck the box so that the Auto Analyzer does not automatically load.
If helpful, know that I purchased Premier Elements 11 for the purpose of capturing, editing and burning DVDs from video on my old VHS tapes.

As I use a similar program, Adobe Bridge (with Premiere Pro, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.), I am only speculating a bit here.
I would run Auto Analyzer one time (might take a bit, depending on the number of Images and Videos on one's system and the speed of the computer), to establish the Albums (or whatever they are called in Organizer), and then turn it OFF, so it does not fire up, whenever an Image, or Video is added to the system, then run it once more, manually, before using Organizer with PrE. I do not like having a lot of programs running in the background, especially if the are likely to pop up and begin cataloging, whenever I make a simple change, like Coping over some Video files from a flash card. I want complete control.
Now, Steve, who is the guru, on all things PrE, might have different advice, so go with his, over mine, any day.

Photoshop Elements vs. Photoshop with Lightroom

Are there any limitations to transferring photos and editing using Elements as opposed to full Photoshop? I've had a few glitches in the quality of the photos after editing in Elements and then bringing them back to Lightroom.

Unless you describe the "glitches", there's no way to be sure the problem is Elements and will be solved by using Photoshop.
There should be no "glitches" using Elements, and most people who use Elements with Lightroom do not have "glitches"

People recognition in Bridge?

Is there a way to get the people recognition in Photoshop CS6's Bridge like there is in Photoshop Elements 10's Organizer? If not, is there a way to get Bridge to recognize the people tags from Organizer?

People Recognition

I am having a problem with people recognition on Elements 10, and I'm using windows 7 64 bit. This has just started in the last week, where I try to add tags to people and the people tagging starts and stops without finding anyone. For a while I could shut down the computer and restart it and it would start working again, but that doesn't work anymore.

Delete fields in Address Book view

I imported my Outlook contacts into AB via .txt file. Now all of the address cards that I have just imported have bithdays and anniversaries with the same date. These fields do not appear on my template in preferences. Is there a way to delete these 2 fields on all of my cards?

Sales order creation issue

Iam creating sale order through function module using BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2 , After creating salesorder I checked that salesorder in VA03 and check ' incompletion log' the screen show CONFIGURATION. What could be the reason Can any body help me.

Hi,
Go to "VUA2" transaction and see which Incompletion procedure has been assigned to your order type. Then go to "OVA2" and select the procedure which is assigned to your order type and click on fields you dont want and remove them .Actually Profit center and internal orders(Order) are defined by FI/CO people and WBS element by PS team.

Hi All,
I am currently facing a problem in deleting an employee. Its saying 'you cann't delete people who have element entries'.
But when i tried to delete the employee assignment it is saying 'You can't delete th eprimary assignment'.
But how do i delete the element enries of an employee.
Is their any way to delete it?
Also when i deleting employee it is giving an erro of ' Can't delete people with extra assignment infomation.'
Plez any one help me on this.

Generally in HRMS, we don't delete the employees rather we change their status to Ex-Employee etc.
If you want to delete the element entries, then go to the element entries screen from Fast Path or from People screen
People Form -> Assignment -> Entries button.
It opens up the element entries. Then delete the element entries.
