People turning purple?

So this is a little complicated, but stick with me.
I am editing some footage in FCP. The footage consists of a girl lit under a blue light (simulating moonlight). The footage is properly color balanced, and it has a hint of blue to reflect the natural lighting.
I just color corrected it in my friend's editing suite (in order to use his HD TV as the output monitor).
Color correcting consisted primarily of crushing the blacks. We did a couple other things, but mainly that was it.
Everything looked great on his TV. We exported the files back to FCP on his computer. I then copied the color corrected quicktime files to use on my computer.
This is where things get weird.
On my computer, the color correction looks horrible. The actor looks purple! (like a character from Avatar). I opened up the files on another Mac. Same thing. The actor looks purple.
Stay with me, things get weirder. I opened up the same exact quicktime files on a PC. Everything looks great. No purple people.
I burned a DVD and played it on a TV. It looks great. I played it on a PC. It looks great. I played it on a Mac. The actor looks purple.
One final thing. Back in FCP, I took a screenshot of my computer image. I opened the screenshot on my Mac. The actor looks purple. I opened the same exact screenshot on my PC. The actor looks normal.
I really have no idea what is going on. Everything is fine on a TV and a PC, but it looks horrible on a Mac. And since the output medium could be any of these three (and the footage will most likely be viewed on other Macs), it is unacceptable for the footage to look the way it does on a Mac.
If anyone has any idea what is going on, please help.
Some information that might be useful.
FCP: version 6.0.6
Color: version 1.0.4
Footage: DV anamorphic
Raw footage codec: DV/DVCPRO - NTSC, Integer (Little Endian)
Color corrected footage codec: DV/DVCPRO - NTSC

Well, that would be great if you were making a music video for a "one-eyed, one-horned, purple people eater...", because I could never figure out if the eater was purple or if it only ever ate purple people... so now we'll find out.
Sounds like a ColorSync/ color management issue, and it could also be a driver YCbCr issue between Mac and Windows systems. As I understand things, you were happy at one point with the output of COLOR to some kind of "TV". I would find it remarkably odd that you would get these differences if you had been using a true Video I/O card and monitoring an SDI signal to a broadcast monitor and or waveform/vector monitor (which would be the only calibrated method for accurate color placement).
If you were somehow short-cutting the output using a DVI-bridge... then all of that color processing falls to internal Quicktime ColorSync and color management processes which may or may not be appropriate to the media... and can fall anywhere and is for the most part uncontrollable. This would be made even worse if you're attempting to do this "by eye" with no scope confirmation.
So somehow along this process, you were happy with the values on a Mac system, if you were processing the media under Apple COLOR, but it would appear that there was another process intervening in the displayed values. There aren't that many ways out of COLOR, and typically the complaint is with contrast being compromised with the 1.8/2.2 gamma incompatibility. But for a hue to be wrong, but then be reinterpreted more pleasingly under a different internal processing strategy implies that the files are being decoded and displayed in different ways. The only place that I can see that happening is in ColorSync.
Are you using any kind of third party "calibration" application? Or was your friend juicing the "TV"?

  • EMac 700MHz display turned purple/pink. Can't boot from HD and CD

    hi,
    I have several issues here:
    1) My eMac display turned purple/pink from the start
    2) It won't start from either HD or CD. It gets to the grey Apple and the spinning wheel.. After a while of spinning, it freezes and nothing else I can do. This happens on booting from HD and CD.
    Please help.

try unplugging the cord for an hour or so. unplug it completely, from where it goes into the machine as well as the outlet. if that doesn't work, you could also try a pmu reset. instructions are found in part 6 of this article. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=34885 let me know if that makes any difference.

  • I have a 2nd Display that turns purple.

I thought this was a problem with the Samsung display and bought a Acer replacement.  The Acer turns purple too on occasion.

Could be a GPU issue. Considering the computer is about closer to 8 years old you may want to consider replacing it. However you can also take it to an Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) to be professionally diagnosed. You can contact one by clicking https://locate.apple.com/country

Try pulling down the spill level and reducing the spill tint. You're probably going to have to tweak the color selection manually.

  • Why won't my visited links turn purple

Hello, I'm brand new to Firefox, I seem to LOVE everything about it except one thing. I cannot get the links that I've already visited to turn purple. I know that in Chrome and IE, anytime you click on a link to visit its page, and you go back to the search page (ebay, google, kijiji, etc.) the link you just clicked on will be purple and the rest of them are blue. But in Firefox I cannot get the visited page to turn purple. Please help, so hard to see what I've already clicked on.

  • Visited links don't turn purple?

Hi, my visited links never turn purple. What's the problem? My Firefox is set to remember history, I don't see why it doesn't work. The only way to make it work is to uncheck "Allowed pages to use their colors instead of the ones selected above" but that makes every site look like crap. Other web browsers had this working, how can I make it work with Firefox without unchecking that option...?

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.

  • Samsung Stratosphere screen turned purple

My girlfriend's Stratosphere's  screen turned purple today.  She doesn't have the insurance through verizon either.  She got the phone about 3 months ago.  What are options to fix it or get it fixed?

I just had the exact problem this morning. I just woke up, picked up my phone and the screen was tinted pinkish purple. I figured I should investigate before calling Verizon, but this is the only other case that I can find. Did you do anything to fix yours?

  • ITunes videos turning purple??

I hope somebody knows what's wrong with my itunes, because it confuses the heck out of me. I recently tried to watch one of my music videos downloaded from the itunes store. I opened it and at first I got a black screen like normal, when all of a sudden it turned bright purple! When the video started, it looked like a photo negative in purple and teal. I honestly have no clue what would cause this.
I recently upgraded my video drivers (I use omega drivers), but I don't think that's the problem, because everything else works. It's only itunes that is haunted.
I hope someone can tell me how to fix this. I'd really like to watch my videos.

  • Screen has turned purple pink and I can't see anything!

My Apple TV has suddenly turned the screen pink/purple and I can't see any of the navigation options. I read somewhere that I need to switch it from HDMI auto to RGB High but after I do that the screen turns black. I try all the other settings and nothing works. This is VERY frustrating. I spent $100 on a device from Apple that is supposed to "just work" and now it's suddenly not working. I have my Apple TV connected via HDMI through a Yamaha receiver and have never had issues with it in the past. I've unplugged the power and the HDMI cable, I've also restarted my Apple TV and nothing works. Please help!

Try it connected directly or with a different cable.

  • Macbook freezes and screen turns purple

Over the last few days every time I've tried to use my Macbook (white, bought in January 2010) it has frozen, with the screen turning this odd shade of light purple. It will not respond to anything when it is like this. I turn it off, and when I turn it back on, it works fine... sometimes for hours, sometimes for minutes... then does the same thing again. If I turn it back on too soon after turning it off, it will freeze during start up, so I make sure to wait a significant time before restarting.
What might be causing this? What can I do to make it stop? Is my poor computer a goner? If you have something you think may fix it, please keep it in as basic English as you can, as I am nowhere near what anyone would call computer savvy! (As evidenced by use of the term "computer savvy")....

I have the same problem. I just bought my first Mac and I have had the problem happen three times. Once just now, but with a grayish screen I could only force it turn off. Once before it was a greenish screen and in between those times the screen went fuzzy and a loud ratcheting squeal while I was listening to music streaming. The times when the screen went to a solid color I was using Firefox. The first instance I was opening a pdf file, and the second closing Firefox. Perhaps there is a software link. What browser for web are you using? What were you doing in the browser right before things froze?

  • Edit screen background turned purple!

I was looking about my newly installed Homesite and somehow
managed to turn the background of the edit screen dark purple.
Can't find a way to change it back to something easier to read.
Everything I open has this background.
Also, I wanted to make my internal and external default

internal browser that seemed to work.
    Help appreciated.

You can open your settings (either F8 or Options >
    Settings).
Click Editor then you will see "Background Color" downdrop on
the far right. Change it back to white or whatever other color you
    want.

  • My Mac Book Pro display has turned purple/blue, - why?

My screen started to flickr and has now turned purply/blue as if something has died..any one know why?

Your first choice is to go to System Preferences>Displays>Color.  Make sure that your profile set is the appropriate one for the MacBook Pro, which should be "Color LCD".
I'm going to skip all of the normal suggestions of resetting this and that, because from what I've researched this in the past, and it appears you have an issue with either the graphics chip (low probability) or a worn cable causing one of the color channels to be bad or your LED screen has a problem.
In other words, it's probably hardware related.
