Peoplesoft HCM 9.2 demo database

Just installed the demo HCM 9.2 databse. While trying out the global search, it says enter a name. If we choose a name that is in the demo system, say "Diane Palmer". The search returns that nothing was found. But if I go to the company directory and lookup that name, it comes right up. Is there something that needs to be turned on so that the new search global search feature of 9.2 works?
Thanks.

If you have not done so yet, download SES installation files from Oracle Software Delivery Cloud. You can find them in the same section as HCM 9.2 media pack.
To install SES follow next doc:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21698_01/install.1122/e14093/toc.htm
To configure SES and PeopelSoft, you can follow the steps as described in PeopleTools installation manual, Chapter 11 Configuring Integration Between PeopleSoft PeopleTools and Oracle SES
SES relies highly on proper configuration of the Integration Broker. Although the PeopleTools installation manual describes the steps to configure IB, you can follow the steps as described Chapter 2 of the following blog:
http://bloggingaboutoracleapplications.org/integration-broker-basics-peoplesoft-developer/
And finally you can read an overall blog on how to install, configure and build the indexes:
http://bloggingaboutoracleapplications.org/peoplesoft-oracle-secure-enterprise-search-ses/
After this you should be up and running.
For more detail on Search FrameWork, you can have a look at PeopleBooks:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E38689_01/pt853pbr0/eng/pt/tpst/index.html
I think this will provide you enough reading material :)

  • How to install HCM 9.2 demo database for non oracle platform

i am new  to peoplesoft. We are planning for an upgrade to hcm 9.2 and peopletools 8.53. We are currently on 9.0 and peopletools 8.51 and SQL platform.
i understand we have to creat a demo the old fashion way for SQL. I cannot find any required at upgrade and required at install fixes. Can someone please go over the process really quickly in brief and where I can find them. The upgrade home page does not talk anything about non oracle based platforms.
We are preparing to install tools. What will be the next step after installing tools?
I  have signed up with oracle university for training but that is not taking place for another 4 weeks.
    Confused Oracle user,

Hi , you don't need to be confused as installing Oracle PeopleSoft is not hard as many would think. Most of the steps are clearly documented and with proper resources can be learnt very easily.
Here is an overview of steps that you would need to follow
    Install Tools
    Install Application CD
    Create Database
Edit and Run Database Scripts e.g utlspace, hcddl, psroles, psadmin, connect.. etc.
Copy Projects (PPLTLS84CUR, ..) , Run AE programs, Execute dms scripts etc.
Pretty much follow the database creation steps from Install guide for your database platform. Here is the link for SQL server installation guide
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E38921_01/psft/acrobat/PeopleTools_8.53%20_Installation_for_Microsoft_SQL_Server.pdf
    Install Tuxedo, WebLogic
Create App Server, Web Server, Process Scheduler
Once your envrionment is ready, you need to plan for your upgrade.
Required at upgrade and Required at install fixes are available inside the PUM images now, so you need to deploy PeopleSoft Virtual Images too.
    Upgrade Tasks:
Review your upgrade path, check hardware/software support, download upgrade templates for your upgrade path,
Follow Upgrade Guide for detailed step by step process for initial pass.
here is a brief overview of installation process - PeopleTools 8.53: Steps For Installing PeopleSoft HCM 9.2 on Windows 7

  • Degree Date not mapped into Peoplesoft HCM 9.2

We have installed PeopleSoft HCM 9.2 and People Tools 8.53.We are using PeopleSoft HCM 9.2 Demo database in our test environment. We have integrated our Resume Parsing solution with PeopleSoft HCM 9.2.Our Parser is capable of extracting degree date from the resume content. We are finding issue with Mapping "Degree Date" into respective field.
We are trying to Map the "Degree date" as field in Degree section in Poeplesoft HCM system using HR XML mapping  as per Recruiting_Solutions_9_2_Integrations_Setup.pdf documentation.
    XML LOCATION                 : Candidate.Resume.StructuredXMLResume.EducationHistory.SchoolOrInstitution.Degree.DegreeDate
DATA OBJECT LOCATION  : CandidateItems.. JPM_DATE_6
    RECORD LOCATION           : HRS_APP_ITEMS. JPM_DATE_6
Oracle Recruiting solution document says "Degree Date" is mapped to "HRS_APP_ITEMS.JPM_DATE_6" field in Peoplesoft HCM 9.2 Application. (Please Refer page no 65 ).
We are finding that this mapping is not happening as expected
Does anyone know how to resolve the issue ?

As stated in the following doc, this issue has been solved in PeopleTools 8.53.04 patch
E-SES: Problems Deploying Search Definition With PeopleTools 8.53 And Oracle SES 11.1.2.2.0 [ID 1558997.1]

  • PeopleSoft HCM 9.1 OVM in a single VirtualBox guest machine

Following a suggestion from Jim Marion in an earlier post in this forum, I started installing the PeopleSoft HCM 9.1 OVM using a single VirtualBox guest. The PeopleSoft OVM appliances are delivered as two separate virtual machines, one for the DB and another for the PIA/App-Batch. Since I am running on a 4 GB RAM laptop I wanted to conserve memory by installing on a single virtual machine.
As I was starting to figure out the changes needed in the configuration scripts, for example creating a symbolic link instead of an nfs mount for PS_APP_HOME, I got a surprise. Lo and behold, the good folks at Oracle had already thought of this! In the oraclevm-template.sh there is an environment variable VBOX_SETUP that is set if the script detects the existance of both PS_DB_HOME and PS_HOME. This triggers the installation of all the tiers -- DB, App-Batch, PIA -- on a single machine. With a few tweaks I was able to get a fully functioning HCM environment with a single execution of the setup script.
The starting point for installing PeopleSoft OVMs on VirtualBox is these two blog posts:
    [url http://jjmpsj.blogspot.com/2012/05/converting-peoplesoft-ovm-templates-to.html]
    [url http://jjmpsj.blogspot.com/2012/06/converting-peopletools-ovm-template-to.html]
Since I was only using a single virtual guest I mounted all the file systems at once. Here are the entries (excluding the System images which are only mounted temporarily as explained in Jim's blog posts):
    in VirtualBox:
    SATA Port 1: Oracle11gR2.vdi (Normal, 4.41 GB)
    SATA Port 2: HCMDB.vdi (Normal, 26.38 GB)
    SATA Port 3: Tools.vdi (Normal, 11.25 GB)
    in /etc/fstab:
    /dev/sdb1               /u01                    ext3    defaults        1 3
    /dev/sdc1               /opt/oracle/psft/ptdb   ext3    defaults        1 4
/dev/sdd1               /opt/oracle/psft/pt     ext3    defaults        1 5I commented out the ovm_set_password and ovm_configure_network steps in /u01/scripts/db-reconfig.sh since I had manually set up a static IP on my guest. (Note: this script no longer bothers checking for or setting up oracleasm so you don't need to worry about that). I also uncommented the DEBUG_PSFT_OVM variable in the /opt/oracle/psft/vm/oraclevm-template-utils.sh script. Doing this bypasses the root password reset and networking configuration in the oraclevm-template.sh script.
I modified the .bash_profile script for psadm1, psadm2 and psadm3 to use the ORACLE_SID that the setup script discovered based on the contents of $PSFT_DB_HOME/oradata and added $PS_HOME/setup to the PATH for COBOL compiles:
    # psft env vars
    export PS_APP_HOME=/opt/oracle/psft/pt/apptools
    export PS_CFG_HOME=/home/psadm2/psft/pt/8.52
    export ORACLE_BASE=/opt/oracle/psft/pt/oracle-client
    export ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/11.2.0.x
    export ORACLE_SID=HR91C323
    export TUXDIR=/opt/oracle/psft/pt/bea/tuxedo
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$TUXDIR/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/lib
    . /opt/oracle/psft/pt/tools/psconfig.sh
    export PATH=$TUXDIR/bin:$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PS_HOME/setup
    export LANG=C
    export COBDIR=/opt/oracle/psft/pt/cobol/svrexp-51_wp4-64bit
    export PATH=$PATH:$COBDIR/bin
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:$COBDIR/lib(Just a note on the beauty of VirtualBox: I didn't figure out all the above in a single step. But by taking some snapshots of my virtual machine I was able to go back and start over with a minimum of fuss.)
I still had a few errors after I got a clean run of /opt/oracle/psft/vm/oraclevm-template.sh:
<li>The app engine VERSION program failed because it didn't pick up the PS_SERVER_CFG variable. The variable is set in the script so I'm still trying to figure out what happened.
<li>The ovm_dbusers.sql failed on a couple of statements with insufficient privileges. It is run as SYSADM and may need to be run as sysdba.
<li>The ovm_ib.sql script had a unique constraint error on an insert into psibsvcsetup. Since the row already exists this should probably be an update.
These were minor issues that were easily resolved after the instance was up.
I have started making changes to further reduce the footprint of the VM: lower weblogic min/max heap size to 128m, don't start PSAESRV in the batch server, don't start Analytic and Query servers in the app server, lower the sga_target and pga_aggregate_target in the db server, etc.
These PeopleSoft OVM templates are a fantastic way to get started with an up-to-date, well configured PeopleSoft application.

    Hi,
To keep all my peoplesoft servers on a virtual environnement i will use Oracle Database 11.1.0.6 for x86_64 (64 bit) with Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.2 template and install on it the peoplesoft CRM. it's a good idea ? Yes, why not.
But you could also want to minimize the number of virtual machines running in your env by adding the CRM database into the existing Peoplesoft OVM database server, check if there is enough space to host this CRM db in addition of the running HR db, if not you could increase the space or add a new disk.
and which files from http://edelivery.oracle.com i should use to install peoplesoft CRM database ?
You'll only need to download PeopleSoft Enterprise Customer Relationship Management 9.1 application, part number V17881-01 from "PeopleSoft Enterprise - Customer Relationship Management 9.1 Media Pack".
sorry for those question i'm still beginner in peoplesoft. No problem, Peoplesoft is not so easy software anyway.
    HTH,
    Nicolas.

  • Peoplesoft HCM 9.1/Oracle 11g installation on Windows 7

    Hello All,
I am trying to install Peoplesoft HCM 9.1 / Oracle 11g on windows 7 64-bit platform ( laptop).
So far, I installed the loopback adapter and then installed Oracle 11g database enterprose version successfully. I can login to the database via SQL Developer.
    I have couple of questions...
    1. Since I am installing everything on the same m/c , will i still need to install oracle client?
    2. Do I need both 32 bit and 64 bit client ?
    3. If I need client, do they go into the same location where the Oracle 11g database sits ?
Thanks for all your help in advance!

  • PeopleSoft HCM/CS integration in Portal 10.1.4

    Hi everybody,
    I've got a "small" question;
We're starting with a project to implement a portal via Oracle Portal 10.1.4. We want to integrate some functions/information out/from our business applicaties PeopleSoft HCM 8.9 (PT 8.46.07) and PeopleSoft CS 8.9 (PT 8.46.07).
What is the easyiest way to do this? we prefer not to direct querying the database.
    Thank you for your help.

Did nobody did this already? To bad, thought that Oracle Portal was large implemented over the world today haha

  • Conversion from system to demo database

I have a EPM9.0 database in peoplesoft . How can I check if the database is system or demo instance?
I need a demo database but if I have a system database then can I convert a system into demo database?
If yes then how to do it? Can i just run the datamover script and convert.
If not then I will have completely build up a new EPM database demo version

Basically, there is no difference between a DEMO and SYSTEM database, but data.
If you are not in multilingual config, when you create a SYSTEM database, one datafile is imported, $PS_HOME\data\hcengs.db amd when you create a DEMO database, two datafiles are imported, $PS_HOME\data\hcengs.db and $PS_HOME\data\hcengl.db
If there is no sample data in a SYSTEM database, there are a lot in a DEMO database. You could check the user account list to see easily if there is sample account or not.
To move from a DEMO to a SYSTEM database, it could be really paintful since you have to remove a lot of data from many tables (not only the sample user account).
If a development database could be based on a DEMO database, a UAT or production one must be built on a SYSEM database. To change, the most simple way is to create a SYSTEM database from scratch, and move the users projects from the DEMO to the SYSTEM database.
To move from a SYSTEM to a DEMO, it is the same, much more sure to create a DEMO database from scratch and move the projects.
Or you could try to import a dms data file specific to the DEMO $PS_HOME\data\hcengl.db, but it could overwrite your own modifications or so, I didn't test a move from SYSTEM to DEMO with such running.
    Nicolas.

  • Crystal Reports has stopped working with Windows 7 and demo database

I'm trying to get back up to speed on Crystal Reports after 10 years away. I'm running Crystal Reports 2008 Standard with the just-released Service Pack 3 (same symptom with SP2).
So I downloaded the demo database and tried creating a new report. No problems creating a simple customer list. When I add the Orders table and link the CustomerID columns and then add the OrderDate column to the report, everything works fine. But as soon as I add the OrderID or OrderDate column, the application crashes.
Culprit seems to be MSVCR80.dll. Here's the log:

    Hello,
It may be that something was "fixed" and our default xml file falls out of the Standards now.
Are you wanting to connect to SQL or XML?
Go to Microsoft's site and search for C++ distribution and download and install the recommended one for windows 7. It may be that part is corrupt or our installer thinks it is there. Try doing a Repair install and custom options to select all of the DB drivers and exports types to see if that resolves the issue.
    Thank you
    Don

  • Pb to connecting to the demo database

    hi ,
    i'm newbie :)
i have just installed TimesTen with demo ,
i can't see how can i connect to the demo database in the command line (i'm on Linux)
what's the name of the demo database ?
    thanks for help
    :)

Y.Brunet, I can not be as sure in my words as you are, since I don't know how other companies and programmers solve these problems, but I cannot easily accept your advice to code dates as Strings.
In our company's projects everywhere in DB handling code we use PreparedStatements because AFAIK they provide better performance than CallableStatements if frequently used. Also they provide abstraction level - why should I know how the f!@# the Database expects dates/int/float/String... in SQL statements?
We use several DB servers - M@SQL, Access, Oracle, Ingres - they all handle dates in different way(not to mention that in most DBs date format is customizable). But code written for one server works on others (most of it, of course) because of this level of abstraction.
Let's leave the driver format the stuff as the DB expects and concentrate on the real work - pass correct values, perform logical checks, improving performance.....

    Thierry,
I am curious to know about Fusion. I heard that Oracle Reports and Forms will not be used from R12 onwards. Is it so ?
And anything new that we need to improve ourselves against the Fusion Application ?
Any interesting new features for HRMS in Fusion ?

    Hi Janakiraman,
unfortunately we don't have an upload storage here in the SDN. At this point we have two options:
    a) you could upload the screenshots to a website that provides storage and then you can paste the url to the screenshots here
    b) we can route this through our support channel. You can send a message to our support team in the <a href="http://service.sap.com/smb/sbo/support">SAP Business One Support Center</a> in our <a href="http://service.sap.com/smb/sbo">SAP PartnerEdge Portal</a>.
