PeopleSoft Ubuntu Installation - HCM

Hi All,
I am going to try and briefly explain everything i did so far and the error i am encountering now.
Ubuntu 10 32 bit , Oracle 10G, Peopletools 8.52, WebLogic 11G R1, Tuxedo 11G R1, HCM 910
I am unable to find the 32 bit version of Tuxedo in 10G, hence went ahead with the 11GR1 where 32 bit version was available.
I do not have the luxury of having multiple systems and i am setting up a learning environment. So i wanted everything (all layers) in one Ubuntu system.
Now installed database software, installed weblogic, installed Tuxedo, created peoplesoft database, setup Demo database. (Had to jump through hoops to setup demo Database. Had to setup Virtual Server and install Windows and connect through that to get the Data Mover working). Ofcourse later got to know that i could run Data Mover from command line. ;)
I am new to all these and learning as i am going. I read that in Peopletools 8.52 managing Domain, Tuxedo services etc are done through PSADMIN.
And here is the problem. PSADMIN won't come up for me. It just burps with the message that Bash: /opt/PT8.52/bin/psadmin: cannot execute binary file.
I finally managed to create a Domain and site through PsMpPIAInstall/setup. So PIA Domain is created and booted fine.
I am able to start the WebServer and boot the domain using StartPIA and StopPIA script under webserv. Webserver started fine and the main page is coming up fine. From the Webserver logs i am seeing that JSL is not listening in port 9000. So i need to configure Tuxedo and start its services so that JSL picks up requests from the WebServer.
Now why PSADMIN won't startup. Is it solely because of Tuxedo 11G version?
To add to the worry, psappsrv.cfg is nowhere to be found. I can see psappsrv.ubx. I believe both these cfg and ubx are used by ubbgen utility to create psappsrv.ubb which can be used to create the PSTUXCFG.
I tried reinstalling the Application Server again to no effect.
And without PSADMIN can i configure Tuxedo separately. If yes, guidance please.
Any help to get me out of this impasse would be really appreciated.

As i mentioned to make the DMS work i had to create a virtual server and install Win XP. Then i connected from that Win XP to the Ubuntu host.
So that did indeed bring up both App Designer and Data Mover. Data Mover, i was using in Boot Strap mode, so was connecting directly to Database. However for App Designer i was getting some login error, userid permission error or something. Hope that should be easily solved.
Do you think that should be enough to create a good learning environment?

Depending what you want to do with your database :
1. a DEMO database, choose demo which contains data sample, use for training or dev database
2. a SYS database, choose system which does not contains data sample, use for UAT and prod database
3. a Peopletools system database, doesn't contains any application data (only Peopletools data), for some very specific usage like performance monitoring
The character set is also depending what you are planning the language you want into. If only English, or only latin characters, then Western European would be a good choice.

Hello everyone, I have planned to install peoplesoft fscm software,

According to the steps I have followed upto the Oracle Tuxedo installation.But after that I am not getting crystal reports software and after that I have to configure the database.Can anyone help me out with this?
I want to learn peoplesoft financial supply chain management.I have installed sql server and now confused in the step of configuring the peoplesoft database.
Please help me with suggestions.
Overall my query is which database should I configure with peoplesoft to learn finance,whether sql server or oracle database,and please help me with the steps of database congiguration..

A lot of the questions raised here concern PeopleSoft installations.
If you read the installation manual carefully and follow the steps you should be able to get your own env up and running.
I know it can get complicated if this is your first PeopleSoft installation.
Instead of going through the entire PeopleSoft installation steps here, you could have a look at the prebuild/preconfigured PeopleSoft demo images through below link.

These virtual machines run on Oracle Linux, Oracle database on Oracle Virtual Box.
After downloading the vm, unzipping the zips, you can run a fulling installed, preconfigured FSCM environment with demo data.
This should get you up in running within hours, not counting the download time.

Ubuntu Installation: buffer I/O error on device sda, logical block 2

ich habe einen LAPTOP Levono G700. Er hatte Windows 8 und EFI darauf. Es war mir gelungen Unbuntu 12.04 (64) zu installieren. Nach einiger Zeit häuften sich die Lese-Fehler, bis schließlich Ubuntu nicht mehr lief. Beim Versuch, Ubuntu neu aufzuspielen habe ich wohl versehentlich die Festplatte ganz platt gemacht.
Es ist mir gelungen Windows 7 neu aufzuspielen. Es läuft fehlerfrei. Beim Versuch, Ubuntu erneut zu installieren, bricht die Installation immer mit dem Fehler "buffer I/O error on device sda, local block 2" ab. Was bedeutet dies? Läßt sich Ubuntu nicht installieren oder ist die Festplatte kaputt?

The flash card for CUE might be corrupt. Try and reinstall CUE and restore from backup to see if that fixes it. If it doesnt, try a different flash card.

Recovery partition after ubuntu installation

Hi, my computer has Windows 8.1 and the usual recovery partition. I'm looking for switching to ubuntu, but keeping the recovery partition in case I want to go back to windows (I don't want to lose my license). My question is, is the recovery partition bootable, and able to recover the full installation of windows? Thanks.

The recovery partition is bootable- but that function is usually broken when you make changes to the hard drive, especially when installing Linux distros. Make your Recovery Media on USB Flash drive. This can be used to boot from to recover the laptop back to Factory. Creating Recovery Media>> Windows 8

I just recently installed the new jdk1.6.0_14 via the .bin file provided on the java.sun.com site. Pretty straight forward..
just placed the .bin file in a comfortable spot and ran /bin/sh on it.
From there I just needed to add its path enviroment script's PATH declaration.
To hook it up to firefox, just create the "plugin" folder for .mozilla (i.e. ~/.mozilla/plugin)
then create a symbolic link to libjavaplugin_oji.so (i.e. ln -s .../jdk1.6.0_14/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so ~/.mozilla/plugin/),
then rename the link to "javaplugin.so" in the ~/.mozilla/plugin directory. (something I had to do for Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope and Firefox 3, says the Ubuntu forums)
By the way Ubuntu 9.04 comes with jdk1.6.0_13 if you install it from the repositories via sabre150's methods so you're better off doing it his way ;).

Step by Step PeopleSoft HRMS Installation from scratch.

I am a very newbie for all the Oracle products. Haven't used any oracle products ever. I need to create a POC of integrating PeopleSoft with Microsoft Technology.
I have Windows Server 2008R2 x64 with MS SQL Server 2008R2. The Microsoft technology which would work with lastest Peoplesoft version is 9.0
I have the edelivery account created from where I can download the software's. I need to know the what softwares and order of installing all the softwares in order to get a just basic demo Peoplesoft HRMS system ready.
The edelivery has documentation but i found them pretty tedious for a non Oracle guy. Is there any place i can get simple steps and also if someone can tell me the order of installation here that would be great too. I need just basic Peoplesoft HRMS 9.0 env on Win 2008R2.
Any help is much appreciated.

I don't think the others components are needed in your case for a POC. And of course, the very first step is a reading of the Peopletools Installation Guide where every step is described : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E26530_01/psft/html/docset.html (take the one according to the database software you are planning to build your Peoplesoft environment on).

An good way to get an environment for POC is of course the use of Peoplesoft OVM Template, where eveything is already ready to use, but that's based on Oracle VM, Linux and Oracle database (at least you don't have to bother with any Peoplesoft/database/tuxedo/web installation). Ubuntu installation problem on lenova 3000 g430

Dear all,
latest i try to install ubuntu 8.10 on my lenova laptop, i am able to install but after restarting pc is shows options...
ubuntu 8.10 memorytest86
boot other os
windows xp
actually i have windows xp pre installed.
I then checked /boot directory, i found that linux image is not present there.
I did not understand why this is happening?
ubuntu is able to run in live mode.
i get this cd from december linux for you issue.
this is multi boot cd.
Please suggest.

did you try using the live cd of ubuntu?was it working fine then?try using an another cd or if you have downloaded the iso image there may be a problem with the integrity of the image..check the cd for defects during the initial booting stage from the cd

T440S stuck on BIOS/Thinkpad Screen after Ubuntu installation.

Hello,
i've just installed ubuntu 13 on the whole disk of my T440s and after the reboot, i'm stuck on the BIOS/Thinkpad screen (To interrupt normal startup, press Enter).
Enter key doesn't work and Fn key stays on.
(and curiously, the keyboard backlit works ! i can cycle through the different ligth stages. The luminosity too...)
I've also tried to reset the thinkpad with the reset hole (heard the click) on the back : no changes !
Does anybody has an idea ?

He made some checkings : usb connectors, ram, booted with all usb connectors connected, etc. ... but nothing worked.
Bad for you too ! I find this more than annoying...
I also had the latest bios too !

I bought a Lenovo Flex 14, and made a backup of Windows with One Key Recovery and tried to install Ubuntu as dual boot, but in this process I made a huge mistake and simply formated all previous data, including the “One Key Recovery” that is not working anymore (well it works when the ultra is off and when it is pressed, it shows the same menu before the formating, with the options “Normal Startup”, “Bios Setup”, “Boot Menu” and “System Recovery”. And the System Recovery option does nothing).
1) Is there any way to recover “One Key Recovery”?
2) Will I be able to reinstall my previous Win8.1?
3) Can I do this without de-installing my actual Ubuntu?
4) Will I need some key to proof my windows as original? Where do I find it?

Satellite U300U warmer after Ubuntu installation

Hey guys,
I'm new to Ubuntu, but after switching from Windows Vista i have noticed that my laptop is quite a bit warmer than when i use windows.
I mean, i can tell just by physically feeling the laptop.
The palm rests and touchpad are alot warmer than normal.
When i run sensors my output is:

Core 0: +50.0C (high = +100.0C, crit = +100.0C)

These would be my idle computer temps.
How are these core temps? Normal? Bad?
Anything i can do to cool my cores more?
Are there any ways i can check if my fan's are working correctly?

I have Ubuntu on a Toshiba Satellite L305D-s5881. It runs unusually hot ie /proc/acpi/FAN1/temperature shows
66 C on idling with nothing running and keeps rising. I have seen it go upto 75C in a matter of 20 mins.
The fan just does nt seem to turn on. It seems to be a bad DSDT ( according to experts on the Ubuntu forum). I am getting
errors in the dsdt.dsl compilation with the Inteal iasl compiler. This was explained to me as due to the BIOS not being
right in this version hence acpi doesn't seem to be be able to read the params at which the fan should switch on and
thereby cool the laptop.
Do you have a solution for this problem? Vista runs much cooler 45-47C as shown by the SpeedFan Utility.
The key question is if Vista is able to switch the fans ON via acpi why doesn't this happen with Ubuntu ( 8.0.4)
. I spent a couple of weeks getting the Wireless (Atheros Chip) working after quite some effort. But if the laptop is going
to overheat then the only option is to remove the Ubuntu OS. Any thoughts or suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.

Please advice me how to proceed this and move forward asap.

I hate to be rude, but I am following you for a couple of days now on this forum and even in the same tread and it looks like you do not want to helped, you just want quick answers. I do not see you putting any effort nor show any respect for the product or the people how try to help you. Keep in mind that everyone on this forum is voluntarily posting answers, nobody is getting paid, and I'm sure you do not pay to post here either, so please do not use words as asap and immediate.
You started of wrong, by following a post and not following the installation manual and even tried installing the wrong components.
The post was written by someone with experience on the subject who meets the installation requirements, with all respect to the poster of the blog.
I have to backup Nicolas in his saying.
Nicolas has asked you to use better thread title (more informative than just "installation help") and you created a new thread with this subject.
This does not say anything about the issue you are facing now.
I doubt you can successfully complete this installation, not meant personally, but you are using the wrong software, on the wrong OS, with no documentation.
My advise:
Stop with what you have done until now and start all over by following the installation manual and hardware & software requirements.
If you really want to master a PeopleSoft installation, you can follow following course at Oracle University: PeopleSoft PeopleTools Installation & Server Admin. Rel 8.50

Do not forget you are trying to install an ERP system, this is not done by starting an installer and clicking on the Next button three times.

K410 - Error 1962 - Ubuntu 12.04 Installation

I am getting the message "Error 1962: No Operating System found", before any boot selection menu, when I try to boot the system. What ROM Bios tests could be failing to cause that message?
My system is a Lenovo IdeaCentre K410. The Bios Revision level is ECKT16A, BIOS Date is 04/06/2012, Boot Block Rev. Level is EC16A. The tower has two identical 500GB disk drives. I had been running a Linux, Mandriva, with multiple partitions (file systems) as RAID1 partitions. The Linux boot used the MBR with a Linux boot loader, LILO. Now Mandriva as an organization is out of business. I chose to install Ubuntu 12.04 with a similiar configuration.
However the disks were totally zeroed, and a new partition label format, GPT, was used. Both disks have an unraided 1MB partition with the bios-grub flag set. Both disks have raided partitions; /boot,/, /usr, /tmp, /var, and /home. I installed Grub on the first disk drive during the standard Ubuntu installation (which is supposed to write grub's own initial loader into the MBR, and populate the bios-grub partition. I also installed Grub again on both disk drives using a boot rescue utility from Mandriva. But I still get the error message. Thank you for your assistance.

ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not existThis error usually has two reasons:
1) ORACLE_HOME and/or ORACLE_SID aren't set as expected
2) Your shared memory configuration has some error.
So, let's start the analysis... For 1) please run
env | grep ORACLEand see if you get the following values (or none if you've uninstalled already)
ORACLE_SID=XE
ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xeFor 2) we have
sysctl -p |grep kernel
df -k /dev/shmThe first one should verify that you have enough shared memory in your kernel parameters to serve your memory_target parameter. (Which value did you enter for that parameter, anyway?) You can also verify if the semaphore parameters ( sem ) have been setup as required.
The second one should verify that this amount of shared memory is actually available on the mounted device using the right filesystem-type ( tmpfs ).
I've checked and repeated steps regarding this issue few times (point 7 from the above tutorial for 11.10) but it didn't help.It's not just section 7 that's relevant for using memory target. I'm not sure if you read and applied all the steps of the guide you've referenced.
We'll see if your configuration is expected when you post the output for the commands above.

I have checked the required entries in integrationGateway.properties files for proxy server.
Also have checked the userid:pwd entered in Proxy-Authorization property for HTTPTARGET connector ID.
I have restarted the servers and machines as well but still the same error.
Kindly help me ?

I agree with Hakan, sounds like your problem is getting to the proxy.
Is the SES server on the same network as PS? Or is it really somewhere else? Is this some kind of home setup since you are running PS on Win 7? If SES is on the same network as PS, I would drop the proxy config and test that way first. Get it working without the extra complexity, then add in Proxy. You can test connectivity from PS to SES with telnet or just browsing to SES.

The PS is a Demo Instance being used for study purpose. Both the machines are on the same network.
I tried the ping after removing the entries in integrationGateway.properties files for proxy server and it worked.
Ping, Test Login and Validate are successful.
I get the following error when I check Proxy Login.
Proxy login failed : Invalid credentials for the federation entity (262,1317) (262,1318)
I have created Federation Trusted Entity key by the name HCM92 on Oracle SES side and am using the same ID and password in the Query Service Credentials on the Search Instance Properties Page.
I was not getting any error in any log file related to this.

PeopleSoft 8.53 Integration with Oracle SES

My System Details are :
Machine 1
Hostname : host1
Port : port1
Application : PeopleSoft 8.53 + HCM 9.2 (DEMO) + Oracle 11g
Default IB Node : PSFT_HR
OS : Windows 7 (64 Bit)
Machine 2
Hostname : host2
Port : port2
Application :Oracle Secure Enterprise Search 11.1.2.2.0
OS : Windows 2008 Server (64 Bit)
Machine 3
Hostname : host3
Port : port3
Application : PeopleSoft 8.53 + ELM 9.2 (DEMO) + Oracle 11g
Default IB Node : PSFT_LM
OS : Windows 7 (64 Bit)
No Error was encountered while installation and systems started without any error.
I was able to integrate PeopleSoft HCM with Oracle SES (with great help from my forum friends ).
I was able to establish Global search in HCM 9.2.
Now I have PeopleSoft ELM installed on host3. I need to integrate this to the same SES Server Installed on host2.
In identity management setup on Oracle SES entry is given for host1(HCM).
How can I achieve this. I know I need to establish Single-Signon between ELM and HCM but, I am not sure how.
