PeopleTools 8.51 Install
I have been doing upgrades since 1999. BUT, due to the current economy, this is my fist install from scratch.
My goal is to install PeopleTools 8.51, and FSCM 9.1 MPxxx. Currently I have no ORACLE demo database. Our DBA will return next week.
In following the instructions for Enterprise PeopleTools 8.51 Installation of Oracle, I have arrived at Chapter 4 - Using the PeopleSoft Installer.
My question is this:
Can I install PeopleTools 8.51 on our server without a database?
Thank you.
Yvonne
As I said earlier, you can install Peopletools without creating any database.
It will just install out of the box tools such as AppDesigner and DataMover as well as all the PS_HOME/* files. Nothing to do with any database at this very moment., you're even not prompted for any.
Once it is done, your DBA will be able to use these binaries/scripts stored in %PS_HOME% folder to create the database if needed.
Nicolas.

The correct procedure to install PeopleTools 8.49
Dear Friends,
Hello. I am still not sure the correct procedure to install PeopleTools 8.49. I have done the following:
Step 1: Install Windows Server 2003
Step 2: Install MS SQL Server 2005
Step 3: Install BEA WebLogic 8.1
Step 4: Download 7 disks of PeopleTools 8.49 from Oracle e-delivery site
Step 5: Install PeopleTools 8.49 using setup.exe located in Disk 1.
Step 6: Setup PeopleSoft Database using C:\PeopleTools8.49\setup\PsMpDbInstall\setup.exe
Step 7: Install Tuxedo using C:\PeopleTools8.49\appserv\pstuxinstall.exe
Step 8: Install application server using C:\PeopleTools8.49\appserv\psadmin.exe
Step 9: Install PIA using C:\PeopleTools8.49\setup\PsMpPIAInstall\setup.exe
From Step 1 to Step 6, my system works correctly. But from Step 7 to Step 9, my system is not working correctly. Is the above procedure correct to install PeopleTools 8.49 in Windows Server 2003 ? Thanks.
LucyNicolas,
Thanks a lot for replying to me. I have 3 questions as follows:
First, How many PeopleTools can be installed using 7 disks ?
As I indicated in previous discussed, I have done:
Step 4: Download 7 disks of PeopleTools 8.49 from Oracle e-delivery site and extract them.
Step 5: Install PeopleTools 8.49 using setup.exe located in Disk 1.
Step 6: Setup PeopleSoft Database using C:\PeopleTools8.49\setup\PsMpDbInstall\setup.exe
In step 5, setup.exe in Disk 1 load all of files in 7 Disks into C:\PeopleTools8.49\ and PsMpDbInstall install PeopleSoft Database successfully. I can log into Application Designer and develop my first application successfully in 2-tier mode.
Second, As you said in previous discussion, "Tuxedo is apart from PeopleSoft..." , do you mean I don't need to do Step 7: Install Tuxedo using C:\PeopleTools8.49\appserv\pstuxinstall.exe
Third, I don't understand how to install the rest of PeopleTools using the files in 7 Disks. Are they application Server and PIA ? Thus, we do:
Step 8: Install application server using C:\PeopleTools8.49\appserv\psadmin.exe
Step 9: Install PIA using C:\PeopleTools8.49\setup\PsMpPIAInstall\setup.exe

Query regarding the People Tools installation for HRMS & Financials install
Hi all,
Greetings,
After a lot of struggle, I was able to install Peoplesoft HRMS 9.1 on People Tools 8.50 ( had faced a lot of version conflict issues for almost 2 months after I was able to get up this). Now, the challenge is that the client wants me to install Financials (9.0/9.1) and Campus Solutions on the same machine. As such the Weblogic, Tuxedo etc have been installed already, I am unable to adjudge, if we need to install People Tools again, for every module in PeopleSoft ( I was told by one of my friends that for every module like HRMS, Campus Solutions, Financials of PeopleSoft we install, we need to install a subsequent PeopleTools as well, unlike, all of them using the same PeopleTools). Would greatly appreciate if you can help with any table/chart that helps with the version compatibility as well.
Kind Regards,

1. This is how we setup the HRMS9.1 on Peopletools 8.50. We had request for a version of Peoplesoft HRMS9.1 compatible with PT 8.50 over the SR.I understand now.

Q.Please suggest us on below queries:
a) Peoplesoft Financials 9.0 -- Which version of PT is compatible (to avoid upgrade of either application database or peopletools after we install & configure them)As far as I know, the application 9.0 was initially built on PT8.48 (to avoid PTools upgrade but quite old now).
b) Peoplesoft Financials 9.1 -- Which version of PT is compatible (to avoid upgrade of either application database or peopletools after we install & configure them)The latest FSCM9.1 recut, feature pack March-2011, is available for download on edelivery only within Peopletools 8.51 (so, no upgrade necessary). But again, 9.1 application was initially built on 8.50 (SR required to request media).
Most likely, you should go for the latest version appl/ptools to be able to upgrade as the easiest as possible if needed, or for starting project from scratch, try to keep the same version of components over your application and tools.
Not sure where you want to go though and what is driving your decision.

"why the Psoft oracle DB and SID names should be in all upper case
Customer is having a Question like
"why the Psoft oracle DB and SID names should be in all upper case (according to the PsoftTools 8.50 Installation for Oracle manual)
why the Peopletools 8.5 install book states all Oracle SID and database names should be in UpperCase.
If we use lower case database name, would encounter any problems, what sort of problems?
i Observed that all the Installation manual for 8.49,50,51 States the Same for Creating of Data base !
Task 1-6-1: Determining Databases and Database Names
You should also determine the names of the
databases at this point, using database names that:
• Are limited to eight characters, all UPPERCASE.
• Capture information about the PeopleSoft product line and the type of database
Please suggest on this !
Thanks

TMADMIN_CAT:1607: ERROR: Unable to initialize public key subsystem
Hi All,
I have installed HCM 9 with 8.49.08 PeopleTools on CentOS 5.3 Linux. Everything went fine (I have completed the creation of database) until I am about to start the application server that I have just created. I am getting this error, "TMADMIN_CAT:1607: ERROR: Unable to initialize public key subsystem".
@Nicolas
I have followed the instructions in your blog (it's very helpful). However I am now stack with this error.

This seems to be the main culprit... GP_CAT:1345: ERROR: pif: can't load 'registry.so' and I have searched this forum and found several suggestions like make sure that LD_LIBRARY_PATH is correctly set .. incorrect permssions, delete the .adm ... etc. I have done all of this suggestions. Hi,
I have PeopleTools 8.50 installed on Windows 7 Professional x64. When I select View in Browser menu item from the Layout menu in Application Designer to see what the my page looks like, Application Designer just shutdowns without error. Also, if I select Generate to HTML menu item, Application Designer shutdowns without error.
Has anyone experience this behaviour with App Designer under Windows 7 Professional x64?
Thanks for any help.Hi Nicolas,
I installed Oracle 11g R2 32-bit on Windows 7 Pro x64. I am using a 2-tier connection. My database server is Oracle 11gR2 64-bit running on Oracle Enterprise Linux 4 64-bit inside a VirtualBox virtual machine. The database server, Tuxedo, and Weblogic are setup inside this virtual machine for learning purpose. I have Peoplesoft HCM 9.1 demo database setup and running on the virtual machine. I can login to PIA using Peoplesoft super user PS. I can connect to to the demo database in bootstrap mode using SYSADM. I can create or editing existing pages in App Designer with no problem. I have already created a page that access a single table and I can access it via PIA. If I want to check the layout via "view in browser", App Designer shutdowns without any sort of error messages. I use the base release of PeopleTools 8.50.
Thank you for your superb instructions on how setup HCM 9.1 on your blog.

32-bit version odbcad32.exe (C:\windows\syswow64)
1. By default on any 64 bit machine, 64-bit version of odbcad32.exe (C:\windows\system32) is used.
2. It is also correct that one can use 32-bit version odbcad32.exe (C:\windows\syswow64) and add DB entries in System DSN .
3. But, even following Step 2, given above, Alter audit report is failing out.
4. It would be great help, if you let us know what additional step she used to run Alter audit report in WINDOWS 2008 R2 server.PeopleSoft client tools such as application designer, datamover, etc run on 32 bit, where as PeopleTools is installed on 64 bit servers.
You need to add a system DNS for both 32 bits as 64 bits.
The 32-bit version of the Odbcad32.exe file is located in the %systemdrive%\Windows\SysWoW64 folder.
The 64-bit version of the Odbcad32.exe file is located in the %systemdrive%\Windows\System32 folder.
This is also stated in the installation manual of PeopleTools, Appendix B Installing a database manually
Snipet from the installation manual:
Task B-2: Configuring an ODBC Data Source
Now that you have established your database name and location, you can set up an ODBC data source on the database client.
Note. With Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and above a new connectivity driver was delivered for Microsoft SQL Server databases named “Sql Native Client” or SNAC. Ensure that you use this driver during installation.
If you are running on a 64-bit machine, confirm that you are using the correct connectivity drivers. PeopleSoft PeopleTools executables are 32-bit, but can be run on a 64-bit machine. If you are running on a 64-bit
operating system you still need to utilize the 32-bit connectivity drivers for PeopleSoft PeopleTools. Use this information to verify that the ODBC Data Administrator odbcad32.exe is running from the correct
location. The ODBC Data Administrator resides in the following two locations on a 64-bit Microsoft Windows machine:
• The 32-bit version odbcad32.exe is found in C:\windows\syswow64: This is for 32-bit applications running on a 64-bit operating system. This is the correct version for PeopleSoft PeopleTools.
• The 64-bit version odbcad32.exe is found in C:\windows\system32: This is for 64-bit applications running on a 64-bit operating system.
When you run odbcad32 on a 64-bit Microsoft Windows machine (Start, Programs, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, ODBC Data Administrator), the 64-bit version of odbcad32.exe (C:\windows\system32)
is used by default. In order to run 32-bit PeopleSoft PeopleTools, be sure to include a System DSN entry for the 32-bit version odbcad32.exe (C:\windows\syswow64). -
Peoplesoft Enterprise Program Management Download
Hi,
I'm looking at assessing the Program Management application from Peoplesoft, but I can't seem to find the download anywhere.
I am assuming its like normal Oracle downloads in the sense that you can trial the software. Are there specific downloads for this?
Could anyone point me towards any other requirements for the application, such as Oracle 10G database and if it comes with example projects built in.
Many thanks for any assistance
K
;)Program ManagementProgram Management is a part of FSCM application. As previously suggested, you can find all the downloadable software on http://edelivery.oracle.com
Download from there all the required components (Tuxedo, Weblogic/Websphere, PeopleTools, FSCM application), install them, and build a DMO database to get samples.
Of course, you'll need a database software previously installed.

Install PeopleTools 8.53 with Linux: psdmtx issue
Folks,
Hello. I am installing PeopleTools 8.53 Internet Architecture. Database Server is Oracle Dabase 11gR1. OS is Oracle Linux 5. I have installed JDK7, WebLogic 10.3.6, Tuxedo 11gR1 and PeopleTools 8.53 successfully.
Now, I am setting up PeopleTools8.53 Database. Because the Install Wizard has problem, I set up PeopleTools 8.53 Database manually using Oracle starter database instance named PT853.
I have run the 5 scripts successfully at SQL> as below:
1) utlspace.sql
2) dbowner.sql
3) psroles.sql
4) psadmin.sql
5) connect.sql
Then, I run "psdmtx" in $/PS_HOME/bin on command line as below:
[user@localhost bin]$./psdmtx -CT ORACLE -CS localhost.localdomain -CD PT853 -CO SYSTEM -CP SYSTEM -CI people -CW people -FP /PS_HOME/modifiedscripts/dbsetup.dms
Its output: error while loading shared libraries: libtrio64.so cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory.
My question is:
How to solve the above error to populate the PeopleSoft Database instance PT853 ?
Thanks.Folks,
The issue is solved by myself. Thanks. -
Folks,
Hello. I am installing PeopleTools 8.53 Internet Architecture. Database Server is Oracle Database 11gR1. OS is Oracle Linux 5.
I confront the issue regarding booting Application Server Domain PT853 while Database Server is listening as below:
[user@userlinux PT8.53]$ . ./psconfig.sh
[user@userlinux appserv]$ export SYSTEM_PASS=SYS/SYS
[user@userlinux appserv]$ export ORACLE_HOME=/home/user/OracleDB_Home
[user@userlinux appserv]$ export ORACLE_SID=PT853
[user@userlinux appserv]$ export TUXDIR=/home/user/Oracle/Middleware/tuxedo11gR1
[user@userlinux appserv]$ export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$TUXDIR/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
[user@userlinux appserv]$ export PATH=$TUXDIR/bin:$PATH
[user@userlinux appserv]$ ./psadmin
Its output gets 2 errors in the current server log file /home/user/psft/pt/8.53/appserv/PT853/LOGS/APPSRV_0919.LOG as below:
First, GenMessageBox(200, 0, M): PS General SQL Routines: Missing or invalid version of SQL library libpsora64 (200,0)
Second, GenMessageBox(0, 0, M): Database Signon: Could not sign on to database PT853 with user PSADMIN.
I create a symlink in /home/user/OracleDB_Home/lib and /lib32 as below:
[user@userlinux lib]$ ln -s libclntsh.so.11.1 libclntsh.so.8.0
[user@userlinux lib32]$ ln -s libclntsh.so.11.1 libclntsh.so.8.0
After that, I run ./psadmin to boot the domain PT853 again, I see the first error is solved. Now, there is only one error in the current server log file /home/user/psft/pt/8.53/appserv/PT853/LOGS/APPSRV_0924.LOG is below:
GenMessageBox(0, 0, M): Database Signon: Invalid user ID or password for database signon. (id=MyOwnerName)
Server failed to start
I have changed UserId as PSADMIN in Configuration file, purge cache and clean IPC resources and reboot. Password is correct. But the error always indicates id=MyOwnerName.
Application Designer login as PSADMIN successfully. Data Mover Bootstrap login as MyOwnerName successfully.
My question is:
Why both PSADMIN and MyOwnerName are invalid user ID or password for database signon ? How to solve the issue ?
Thanks. As stated in the installation manual there are a few prerequisites in chapter CHAPTER 8B Configuring the Application Server on UNIX page 238
Prerequisites
Before beginning this procedure, you should have completed the following tasks:
Installed your application server.
See "Using the PeopleSoft Installer," Understanding PeopleSoft Servers
Installed Tuxedo 11gR1
See "Installing Additional Components."
Granted authorization to a PeopleSoft user ID to start the application server.
The database configuration procedure includes a step for setting up the user ID with authorization to start
the application server. See the application-specific installation instructions for information on the user IDs
for your PeopleSoft application. See the PeopleTools: Security Administration product documentation
for information on PeopleSoft PeopleTools delivered user profiles.
See "Creating a Database on UNIX," Running the Database Configuration Wizard.
See "Creating a Database Manually <on Windows or UNIX>," Creating Data Mover Import Scripts.
Run the following SQL statements on your database server to review and if needed, update the PSCLASSDEFN table:
SELECT CLASSID, STARTAPPSERVER FROM PSCLASSDEFN
WHERE CLASSID IN (SELECT OPRCLASS FROM PSOPRCLS WHERE OPRID='<OPRID>');
UPDATE PSCLASSDEFN SET STARTAPPSERVER=1 WHERE CLASSID='<CLASSID>';
Note. Installers typically use VP1 or PS to test the application server. If these users are deleted or their
passwords are changed, the application server will no longer be available. To avoid this problem, you can set
up a new operator (called PSADMIN or PSASID, for instance) with privileges to start the application server.
If you do this, you can use the new operator for your servers and you won't need to change the
password each time VP1 or PS is changed.
Does you user have privileges to start the applications server.
Also pay attention to the connectid configuration in the application server. This should be the same connectid and password as you provided during the database creation script connect.sql -
Install PeopleSoft (PeopleTools 8.49, FIN) on 40GB laptop?!
Hi all,
Never done PS install myself before and wondering if a 40GB laptop be enough to install PeopleTools 8.49 along with the Financials module?
Thanks in advance.Hi all,
Never done PS install myself before and wondering if
a 40GB laptop be enough to install PeopleTools 8.49
along with the Financials module?
Thanks in advance.Hi,
I am demoing PT 8.49, Weblogic 9.2, Tuxedo 9.1, MSSQL Server 2005 Express with HCM 9.0, CRM 9.0 and ELS 9.0 on it.
Database Dirctory is a whopping 6.4 Gb for all three databases. FinSCM should not exceed that by much.
Bea Directory is 1.4 Gb big.
The PeopleTools Directory is the biggest, encompassing the span of 16.1 Gb
MSSQL Server 2005 Express takes 0.5 Gb of space.
So without Crystal or other BI tools that comes down to a net size of 24.5 Gb on my laptop.
Windows XP Profesional takes another 4 Gb on my machine.
The Data Folder under %PS_HOME% is 6+ Gb big, a candidate for compression.
The Projects File is another 2.7 Gb big
The verity indexes for German, Dutch, French and English indexes take another chunk of 2.2 Gb of the %PS_HOME% place
After building your Database you can remove the corresponding data files.
So, yes, running PeopleSoft FinScm 9.0 should work fine on a machine with 35 Gb disk Space free.
Cheers & HTH

Can HRMS and Campus Solution 9.0 be installed with PeopleTools 8.49 ?
Folks,
Hello. I installed FSCM 9.0 with PeopleTools 8.49 and the applications work correctly.
I want to install "HRMS and Campus Solution 9.0" in the Operating System Windows Server 2003 in which FSCM 9.0 and PeopleTools 8.49 are installed.
I have checked installation guide for "HRMS and Campus Solution 9.0". But some Guide said it can be installed with PeopleTools 8.48.05 or higher. Some other Guide said "In order to run HRMS 9.0, you must be using PeopleTools 8.50.03 or higher".
Can any folks tell me the correct version of PeopleTools to install "HRMS and Campus Solution 9.0" ?

But nothing is supported on Home edition, and Peoplesoft is neither supported on 32bit OS.
You could use a virtualization software to get a supported, and for sure working, OS (i.e. OEL - that's free to use).
