We're having issues with running Peoplsoft Jobs in TIDAL . Tidal Master Service runs as a LOCAL SYSTEM and Account has all the rights that specified in the doc. However Peoplesoft doe not see the output path of Peoplesoft Folder .
Does the Tidal Master Service Needs to run as Service Account ???

If the output path for the Peoplesoft Folder is not on the Master server, then the Master service needs to run as a Service Account with access to the output path for the Peoplesoft Folder. When a Windows Service runs as a LOCAL SYSTEM account it can only access the server's resources, UNC folders on other servers are not accessable.

I need to check what SQL Server services are running(engine,agent,IS,AS,RS,browser and Full text) and what is the present status and what service accounts are been used by them on several servers in a single shot.

After BI install SIA and Tomcat could not start with service account.

Hi BO Gurus,
I want to install BO child node (Expand the parent install)
Client IT prepared a system with MS Server 2012 with Windows 8 as OS, and assigned a Service Account for me.
I gave service account following permissions -
Act as a part of operating system
log on as a batch
log on as a service
After this I rebooted the system and logged in with Service Account credentials. Started the installer, performed custom/expand install.
the install was successful.
When I opened CCM, both Tomcat and SIA are running under 'localsystem' account.
I want them to run under service account --> i sopped SIA and changed credentials in 'Log on as' box under SIA properties.--> Click on 'apply' and 'OK'
When I go on and start SIA I get following error -
' The Service did not start due to log on failure'.
The same service account runs services on 3 other BO boxes including parent node of the above install and 2 other DS boxes and everything apart from this machine works exactly fine.

BI 4.x Platform will NOT work on Desktop OS like Windows 7 / 8.x / 8.1, it required 64bit Server Operating system. See attached screenshot.

VSC 4.2 Service Account Logging In and Out of vCenter Repeatedly

We are currently running VSC 4.2 with ONTAP 8.2P2 on vCenter 5.1 and the VSC service account is logging in and out of vCenter every 10 secs. I have run the steps below and still had the same issue. (Recommended on another thread...) • Log into the VSC server over RDP using an administrator account • Open a web browser and go to https://localhost:8143/Register.html • For troubleshooting purposes, re-register using an administrator account (local) • Make sure you're entering the IP addresses of the vCenter and VSC servers for the registration • Click the register button • Montor the sessions to see if there are still logins each 10seconds (after initial logins are completed)Any help is greatly appreciated! This is a new install of NetApp. We don't have anything on the storage yet. VSC 4.2 was installed on vCenter for performance testing right now. One thing I have noticed was, when I try accessing the VSC snap-in. It takes like 65secs to come up. That's not normal. -IT

How to remove farm account from Application Discovery and Load Balancer Service Application

    Using Sharpoint 2010 Server I think the reason
the User Profile Synchronization would stop is because somehow the farm
account was registered as a managed account. So I removed the farm
account from all services that ran under the farm account so that I could
run Remove-SPManagedAccount or click the Remove icon in manage service accounts
and then unregisted farm account as a managed account.
   But before I can run Remove-SPManagedAccount I need to remove it from one more
service account that uses the farm account which is:
    "Application Discovery and Load Balanceer Service Account".
    However, nothing seems to remove it from there.
    I tried :
"get-spserviceapplication | where {$_.TypeName -match "Application Discovery and Load Balancer Service Application"}
    and then
"stop-spserviceinstance "dde7fbef-b068-4687-bedb-f67230efab5a"
    amongst a host of other methods so that I could ultimately
unregister farm account as a managed account.
    But no matter what I do when I try to remove the farm account from Application Discovery
and Load Balancer Service Application
and then unregister the farm account as a managed account a message always says
"Application Discovery and Load Balancer Service Application" is using the farm account
as its service account.
    What can I do to free the farm account from Application Discovery and Load Balancer Service Application?

The Farm Account is always a Managed Account and can never be "unmanaged". You don't have to set the automatic password roll.

OIM 11g - Error Creating Custom 'Service Account' Field

Hi experts,
we would like to create a custom "Service Account" checkbox on a Form Provisioning, in way to enable\disable the 'service account'
status on a target account.
We wanto to control the 'Service Account' status through a checkbox into the account form.
Here our steps:
- Create a new Field on 'UD_ADUSER' Form, we add a 'Service Account' CheckBox as boolean type with default value = 0.
- Create a new Adapter 'Service Account':
---- into 'Variable List' tab we define 2 variables: ProcessInstance -> Long and ServiceAccountCheckBox -> boolean
---- into 'Adapter Task' tab we define an IF(ServiceAccountCheckbox == 1) launch tcUserOperationsIntf.changeToServiceAccount method, with our variable 'ProcessInstance' as Input
- Create a new task into 'Process Definition', we created 'Service Account Updated'.
---- into task tab named 'Integration' we set our custom adapter, mapping Process Data > Process Instance and Process Data > Service Account with adapter variables.
When we assign an 'AD User' resource to a user, the new checkbox 'Service Account' is showed into the form.
If we check/uncheck the checkbox the task 'Service Account Updated' is launched, but the response is "*Specified User Account Not Found*"
I think that the problem is into the adapter..
Any one can help us?

How to set WSSE credentials using Service Account in OSB

Flow Path:
OSB-A (Only Proxy Service) --> OSB-B (Both Proxy and Business service present) --> PIMWS --> PLSQL
In OSB-A i have a service account, which iam getting it in a variable using assign activity and trying to populate that in header variable using replace activity then calling OSB-B but iam getting the following exception..
When i check in the flow.. $header is not replaced with the actual WSSE: tags and credentials. How to make it to work ?

I am able to use Service Account in my OSB. The following are the steps i did.
I have created a service account and kept my username and password there in a common OSB Project.
Then in my proxy service i have an assign which is having the wsse header tags, which retrieves the username and password from service account.
I replace the header with the above information and calling the business service using routing options.
In business service, in http transport page i have used Authentication type as basic and kept the service account by browsing from my common OSB Project.
If i fire a request iam getting the response back as expected.
My question is why should i do 2 times the same thing, when i try to remove the configuration from business service iam getting exception saying "WSSE credentials are missing"
When i put it back its started working.

Best practice for service account?

Hello guys,
May I ask what's the best practice to have and maintain a service account?
For ConfigMgr, you may need to have a service account for e.g client install.
An employee who run this service just depart, and we realize we don't have service account credential left to our knowlege.
So let say we have to reset it, and reconfigure back the service account with new credential, what's the best practice to have this credential kept in safe and can be retrieved back for future use?
Do you keep it in a secured email? Secured envelope? How you maintain it in a big organization.
Please throw me some ideas. Thank you very much :)
p/s: this issue may not restrict to ConfigMgr only, you may need service account for SQL, IIS and etc.

Help! Reset the password and now master account at log in is missing??????

I really need you help on this. Today I was helping my younger cousin with his macbook. He lost his password so I put in the disk that came with it and held down C and went to Utilities/reset password and reset the main account password. I might have reset the Home Permissions and ACLs. I reboot the computer and in the login screen only show the other that was made and not the main account. So the master account is mission how do back so I can log in it. Can anyone help?

is the other account admin? if yes, log in as the other user and run the following terminal command
sudo rm /var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/short-user-name.plist
Instead of short-user-name put in the above the short name of your main user which is now missing. It's the same as the name of that user's home directory in /Users folder which should still be there.
You'll have to enter the admin password which you won't see as you type it. that's normal.
Please make sure you copy the command EXACTLY as given. it's very important. we don't want to delete the wrong thing here. this will delete the directory services record for the missing user.
Restart, log in as the other user again and try creating an account with the short user name of your main missing user in system preferences->accounts. it will say that a home directory by that name already exists and ask if you want to use it. say "yes".
this should bring the account back.
if the only currently existing account on the computer is not admin then boot from the install DVd and using the password reset utility activate root (=System administrator). then log in as root and perform the same steps as above.

Service Master and Material Master relation

Hi Friends,
Our client requirement is to procure and sale same services.
and client wants to post the services to different G/L accounts for ex: if I am raising a sale order or Purchase order,
then for each different service line item to be posted to different G/L accounts.
Initially I thought of creating the service master with different valuation classes but when the same thing comes to sales then with service master they cannot create the sale order.
Hence kindly advice in this case whether to go with the service master creation and create the PO's with the service masters
or   go with the creation of material master with the services material type with different valuation classes?

For services the concerned entries have to be maintained in table T030.
The system will then suggest the G/L accounts as per the valuation class
maintained in table T030 (Standard Accounts Table, transaction OBYC).
The system will determine the
G/L account depending on the following criteria:
T001K-BWMOD
BKLAS
T001-KTOPL
T163K-KOMOK
Services level is one level below materials, which results in
some inherent restrictions compared to materials. In case of
services the values have to be maintained in the table T030.

SP2010 Application Pool Service Account fails to login to master database on a SQL Server mirror

This is a weird problem that just started showing up, cause unknown. Could go in this forum or in SQL 2008...I put it here because for me the context is SP2010.
We have 2 SQL servers (2008 R2 with SP1). Each server has 2 named instances, the second being a mirror for the other server's main instance. In other words, the named instance /SQL has a /SQLMirror on the other server and vice versa.
The error is: Login failed for user 'domain\sharepointapppoolaccount'. Reason: Failed to open the explicitly specified database.
As best I can tell, the specified database is "master" on the mirror instance. I am unaware of any reason for the app pool account to be connecting to the master on the mirror (the master database itself is NOT mirrored). There is nothing
in the user mapping that would suggest any reason to try connecting. And there are no equivalent errors in the main instance (SQL).

Hi,
When the principal server(SQL) disconnects clients from the principal database, then the mirror server(SQL) will take charge of clients’ requests.
So the error is regarding to the mirror server may be due to that the mirror server is taking charge of the clients’ request instead of the principal server when the principal is becomes unavailable.
I recommend to grant sysadmin permissions to the service account in SQL(mirror server) to see if the issue still occurs.

EWS API - Impersonating to update a calendar item created by any other user than a service account, raise an error "Access is denied. Check credentials and try again."

I am new to using EWS managed APIs.
Following is the issue:
1. I am using a service account e.g. [email protected]. This user is a global administrator and also has ApplicationImpersonation role assigned. (Sign into Online Office 365 account -> Admin -> select "Exchange" tab- > select Permissions
on the left panel -> create an impersonation role -> assign ApplicationImpersonation in Roles: and [email protected] in Members: -> Click on save)
2. Create a calendar item by other user for e.g. [email protected], and invite an attendee - [email protected].
3. In a c# program, I connect to EWS service using a service account - [email protected], fetch its calendar events. If organizer of an event is some other user - [email protected] then
I use impersonation in the following way to update the calendar event/item properties- subject, body text etc.

When your connecting to [email protected] mailbox the only user that can make changes to items within
abccalendar is abc (or ABC's delegates). If your impersonating the Organizer of the appointment pqr that wouldn't work unless the organizer had rights to abc's calendar. If you want to make updates to a calendar
appointment like that you should connect to the Organizers mailbox first update the original, send updates and then accept the updates.
When you impersonate your impersonating the security context of the Mailbox your impersonating so its the same a logging on as that user in OWA or Outlook.

Reviewing Windows NT Rights and Privileges Granted for SQL Server Service Accounts

Hi Folks,
I am an experienced .NET apps developer who has been tasked with writing a bunch of technical controls for all the SQL Server instances on a domain.
So for the last month I have been diving in the deep end learning Powershell, dba and infrastructure tasks. This is still a work in progress, so be kind to me.. ;o)
So the task I am stuck on is described in the section on 'Reviewing Windows NT Rights and Privileges Granted for SQL Server Service Accounts' http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143504(v=sql.105).aspx
I have not been able to find cmdlets that gives me this information. I have found some exes which come frustratingly close like NTRights.exe. This lets me specify a computer name which is great, but only seems to let you set or deny permissions, not just
list them!
Any help with this would be very much appreciated as I am firmly stuck. As per comments above also bear in mind that up until around 1.5 months ago I had never used powershell / knew very much at all about SQL server admin etc. Feeling much more comfortable
with them now, but much less so with Active Directory/ windows permission structures etc so please can I ask anyone kind enough to reply to try and keep the acronyms down as much as humanly possible.. ;o)
