Per-preset file name format for external editing presets

This would be so that you could add an identifier of the program to the filename, as in [filename]-viveza, say, if you have edited the file in that plugin. That way, you would be able to track which programs you have filtered a particular file through.

Thanks, web-weaver and Victoria. Do you know of a reference that summarizes how much file size can be saved in compression? Are there pluses and minuses of the two compressed formats? I saw that at least one of the Nik filters (Viveza) can only use an uncompressed file if of TIFF format.
I have done some more research on LZW vs. ZIP. http://vitaleartconservation.com/PDF/digital_image_file_formats_n_storage_v20a.pdf suggests that LZW will typically give about a 6% compression; ZIP will give more but, apparently, isn't as universal.

  • The file name format for Voice Memos has changed - how can I change it to the original format?

The file names for the voice memos changed in the last update.  Now the day is first, which means when you sort them in a file folder, they sort by the number of the day and not year - month - day as before.  Is there a way to change it back?

Restore it as new or sign out of that account and into yours.  Both are covered in the manual.

  • File format for external editing - reference or summary sought, please

I shoot in raw and typically edit files as ProPhoto uncompressed 16-bit TIFFs. It's been a while since I set that as my default and I can't remember what the tradeoffs were for compression and even PSD vs. TIFF. Is there a handy reference to help inform these choices? Thanks!

  • File name format of rotated access log

    Hi,
    I'm using wls5.1sp9 on Solaris.
Is it possible to specify a different file name format of the rotated http access
    logs?
Instead of getting files named access.log0001 and so on, I would prefer access.log.<date>
    or some other custom format.
    Best regards,

    Hi,
Thanks for your response. But I have another query. The name of the file as per your reply is like UsageReport.xls correct? Now my query is, should it contain some date, account id/orgid etc associated for that usage. The reason for my query is that if MSP
downloads the usage for different orgs having same bill date then it would conflict with the different usage files.

  • Which option do you use? PSD or TIFF for external edits?

I'd like to hear why you use PSD or TIFF for external edits. Why do you choose one over the other? Do you wish you had a choice, as in an option, when you click on Edit in External Editor?

I did a little reading on this and this is what I have found so far:
Deke McClelland in Adobe Photoshop CS2 one-on-one states:
"TIFF is a wonderful format to use when handing off CMYK files because it enjoys wide support and prints without incident."
He also states "Photoshop also lets you save layers to the TIFF and PDF formats, but where multilayer compositions are concerned, the native PSD Format enjoys wider support among other imaging applications (including, older versions of Photoshop itself)."
    Classroom In A Book states:
"TIFF is used to exchange files between applications and computer platforms. TIFF is a flexible format supported by virtually all pain, image-editing, and page-layout applications. Also, virtually all destop scanners can produce TIFF images.
"PSE is the default file format. Because of the tight integration between Adobe products, other Adobe applications such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe GoLive can directly import PSD files and preserve many Photoshop features.
Apple Aperture 1.5 by Mike Cuenca:
"PSD: The Photoshop proprietary format is widely used by digital imaging professionals because it supports the storage of alpha channels and layers. Aperture will preserve this extra data byt will not display the layers or channels. PSD files are not compressed, and although they are intended for use within Photoshop, they are becoming more widely accepted outside Photoshop."
"TIFF: The TIFF format is the recommended format for high quality storage of master images. It has a loss-less compression method that can be applied, but more often the images are stored uncompressed. The TIFF format is also the most widely used format for images destined to be printed on a printing press."
Maybe some of this will help

  • Rename file name & format using ftp sender

    Hi all,
This is regarding the renaming of file at sender file(FTP) communication channel and placeing the same file in the same folder.
At FTP server at sender side (i.e.clients place) is in .txt format. But now .txt file has to rename and change into .sav foramt with below required name convention of file.
client format is  :  SAP_Order.txt (Pervious file name).
We need to change the file in to "SAP_Order_yyyymmddThhmmss.sav" format..
How can i achieve this requirement?
Can please suggests me solutions ASAP.
    Best Regards,
    satya,

    Hi,
if your requirement is to pick the  existing file in the FTP folder...and send as idoc to the target and place the renamed file to FTP folder...
    then its simple...
use two receivers instead of one , one for point to target and other for sender itself... (second receiver  is for  changing  the file name format....)
Hope the above understanding is correct...if not provide more details of your requirement...

  • IPhoto: After I've changed the file name/format in Finder iPhoto can't load/relink to the referenced file.

After I've changed the file name/format in Finder iPhoto can't load/relink to the referenced file anymore. For some reasons I don't like to reimport the file.

Hmm the advice has been not to use referenced libraries - you ignored and did it anyway and you find the advise not helpful
Furthermore the advice is that if you choose to use a referenced library that you assure that the path never changes - you also choose to ignore that advice and do it anyway - and you blame the peopson trying to help you
once again - you have one choice - change the file names back and put the files back in the exact same place - and again you are totally ignoring the advice and instead name calling and attacking the person giving you advice
Maybe life would be easier if you followed advice rather than ignoring it and then complaining that things no longer work
change the name back and you will be fine until the next problem you hit that is caused by choosing a referenced library
    Have a nice day

  • Color Space for external editing

I know I can set LightRoom Preferences to open an image in Photoshop, but it seems my only choices are ProPhoto RGB, Adobe RGB or sRGB as working spaces. I'd like to set it up to use BetaRGB as my standard editing space. I know I could open in ProPhoto and convert to Beta RGB, but that is an extra step each and every time I edit an image. I would prefer to go straight from LR to Beta RGB in Photoshop.
Is there any way to do this or am I stuck with one of the big three? If I can change it, how?
    Thanks,
    Lou Dina

Thanks...that'll work, though I'd prefer if Adobe allowed the use of any profile for external editing to retain the features you mentioned.
I just created an Export preset, with Beta RGB, full sized PSD, save to same folder, add to catalog and open in Photoshop after the export is complete. That'll work.
    Thanks,
    Lou

  • When I send a file to PS for further edits then send it back to LR..

When I send a file to PS for further edits then send it back to LR, sometimes the file goes to the end of the folder with the original rather then staying in order with all the other file #. How do I get them to stay in order.

  • Run Applet On Server Using 8.3 File Name Format

    Hello Everyone,
I am currently trying to produce an applet that will display content from a PLC (which hosts its own webpage). The PLC itself only allows files using the 8.3 file name format to be stored on it (eg. 123456789.123).
I have tried a few simple things, such as changing the ".class" file extension to ".cls". But this just produced an error in my internet browser (IE 8).
Any help and/or work-arounds would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,

what file name is for the driver of gpib-usb-b?and how to add the driver file to vb in win2000??thanks

    Hi,
Multiple files are required for the proer fnctioning of any of our GPIB products. Unfortunatly the installation is not as simple as copying a single file over. If you wish to make the installer silent, i believe this is entirely possible in a fashion similar to the details given at http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/0730A66245E6808086256CA8006E2183?OpenDocument.
    Hope this helps out!

  • Lightroom 4 doesn't detect Photoshop Elements 9/10 for external editing

    Hi,
I own Photoshop Elements 9 and recently decided to install trials of Lightroom 4 and Photoshop Elements 10.  For whatever reason, Lightroom doesn't detect Photoshop Elements 9 or 10 for external editing.  I need to make sure this functionality works before proceeding with purchasing Lightroom and possibly Photoshop Elements 10.  Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?
    Thanks,
    Matt

List of supported Nikon cameras. I think you're out of luck for tether-shooting.
      Nikon
    D3
    D3s
    D3x
    D90
    D300
    D300s
    D700
    D5000
    D7000
      Notes on Nikon cameras
If you trigger the shutter with the tether bar capture button, the image must finish downloading before another photo can be captured. Triggering a capture with the shutter release button on the camera does not have this limitation.
Images do not save to the compact flash card. They are only downloaded to the computer.
Only one Nikon camera can be attached at a time.
Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Mac OS X 10.6 are not officially supported for the D3x, D90, and D5000, but they can still work.
