Perfomance BO and BW

Hello,
I want to build report, which based on architecture:
BW cube>BW query(no restrictions)>Universe(No restrictions, copy of query))-->WEB BO query with limitations in filter field by promts.
In BW query storage all or half char and kf of cube,I do it to have opportunity of having 1 universe for as much as possible reports.
So, I have question:
When I run BO report(Consist of 3 objects from 20 objects from universe and query), limit it by calendar year only through- Which data from BW go to BO server?
1. All data from BW query without limitations(damn BO)
2. All data from BW query restricted by Calendar year(damn BO)
3. Only 3 objects from BW query restricted by Calendar year(perfect)

Hi,
If you have only 3 objects in your query and you have a filter on calendar year; the query will fetch only 3 columns of data for that particular calendar year.
I mean to say, the 3 point in your answers list is correct.
However, if you have more objects in your query and you are displaying only 3 objects in your report, then the number of objects in the query will be returned based on the restricted filter.

Oracle Jserver is quite fast and scalable. Nevertheless, there exists an important overhead in calling a CORBA or EJB method, so you should desing "heavy" functions in your EJB/CORBA objects. Instead of calling 10 times little methods, call one time a hevay one, and you'll find that JServer perforns very fast and reliably.

HT1689 Hello I traveled outside the country and now my ipad cannot update or purchase apps. It tells me to switch the the USA store to continue; therefore how can I change the purchasing process to the USA store?

How can I swicth stores in order to update or purchase apps.
I am currently in a different country and I do not know why it changed stores to the local country store. I need to change it to the USA store to perfom updates and purchases?

Here's a little more information from a previous post:
iTunes Store content is country specific. When you change countries, you no longer receive app update notifications on your iOS device or in iTunes for the apps you purchased in your original country, nor do those Apps appear on your new country's Purchased page.
However, you will still be able to download those applications again for free if they are present on your new country's store (even if they are updated).You will not be charged and the download will not appear on your Purchased page. If a previously purchased app is not available in your new country, you will not be able to download it again.

From a development perspective nothing in relationship to compensation has changed for performance management in ERP2004 or ERP2005.

1. Start the TREX admin tool (stand-alone)
Prerequisites -
Since the TREX admin tool has a graphical interface, you need an X server on UNIX . You cannot use a terminal program that only supports text mode, such as telnet.
Log on with the user <sapsid>adm.
Enter the following:
cd <TREX_DIR>
./TREXAdmin.sh
2. Go to the TREX admin tool area "Landscape" and choose the tab "RFC".
3. Choose "Repair all".
Result: The RFC connection between BIA (TREX 7.0 used for High Perfomance Analytics) and the BI system will be restored.

Im running Win 7 64bit and I just got a 2nd usb 2.0 hub and it installed fine but anytime I connect my iphone or other things to it a box pops up say This device could perfom faster and something along the lines about changing to a faster port ?
How do I prevent this from happening, change ports etc ?

Yep, I am having the same issue. I upgraded my wife's and my phones. Her's is a 16GB mine is the 32GB. Using the same PC, iTunes and cable her phone syncs fine and fast w/ no such warning message. Disconnect her phone and hook mine up and it pops the same "This USB device can perform faster if you connect it to a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port." message and mine syncs painfully slow.
Opened a case on this and talked w/ support rep, he stated it's a problem w/ my USB port and the larger HD in my phone. "What???" I said, "How can that be if one phone works fine and one doesn't?" His response was for me to go buy a USB 2.0 card and see if that works because it may be a HW issue w/ my USB port.
I suggested it may be a HW issue w/ my phone at which point I was quickly corrected that it could not be.

BPEL server not able to handle load -- need to purge instances

Hello All,
I have deployed one BPEL process on 10.1.3.1 server. This process creates new instance every 1 minute. If this is not retired and kept running continuously it creates many instances (e.g. 3k - 11k) & at one stage not able to create & initiate new instance. Then currently we are purging all instances and then its working fine.
How much load BPEL server can handle? And also would like to know how to increase this capacity. As in the production env we 'll face issue due to this.
Kindly suggest.

It all depends on how many CPU you have on the SOA Suite server and how much memory you have allocated and the number of threads that are configured. You should plan perfomance tests and scale up / down your environment.

OS X 10.8.2 - Disk I/O error triggered by Adobe Application Manager

Hi all,
I've been experienceing some issues wince updating from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2 when using Adobe Creative Suite CS5.5 and CS6.
Since going onto 10.8.2, everytime I launch Adobe Application Manager to perfom updates and manage my installation my MacBook stops responding and I'm presented with beachball.
I can leave the system for an hour and the Adobe Application Manager finally launches, however its un-responsive.
I'm unable to force quite as the entire system stops repsonding.
I've been trying to pinpoint the exact cause, and without fail Adobe Application Manager triggers it.
Here is an extract from the system log that appears when I try to use Adobe Application Manager.

The error keeps repeating until I power down the machine.
At first alarm bells are ringing as this suggests my HD is about to drop dead. However on another user account everything works perfectly including Adobe Application Manager.
Things I've tried:
I've ran Disk utility from the recovery partition to both verify the disk and fix permissions. All OK
S.M.A.R.T. is verified
Use a different user - Which seems to be fine
Uninstalled both CS6 and CS5.5 removing using the option to delete all preferences - No change
Used CS cleaner from Adobe to ensure every last trace of CS is removed - No change
Temporarily removed my users entire preference folder - No change
Rebuilt the Spotlight Index - No change
PRAM Reset Mulitple times - No change
Used ONYX to clear out Application Caches - No change
Verified using SeaTools under Windows 7 bootcamped - All OK
Just wondered if anyone else is having similar problems, or better yet has resolved it.

I've finally managed to spend a bit of time investigating further. Turns out that the PDApp.log file found in ~/Library/Logs/ was corrupted and also a couple of non related items awell. Possibly caused by hard reset or something whilst it was being written to?
I found this out by borrowing an external, the copied by entire user folder to the external using cp -R. This alerted me to any files that couldn't be copied across.
cp: /Users/paul/Library/Logs/PDApp.log: Input/output error
cp: /Users/paul/Pictures/Aperture Library.aplibrary/Database/apdb/History.apdb: Input/output error
cp: /Users/paul/Pictures/Aperture Library.aplibrary/Masters/2012/06/07/20120607-205006/DSCF5046.JPG: Input/output error
It did take a while to delete these, then I emptied my trash, again it took a while. But finally I'm free of lockups and I can use Creative Suite again ;-)
Going to monitor my drive for a couple of months see if anything else corrupts. Fingers crossed.

What's wrong with my Macbook? It randomly switches off. Could it be the charger?

Hi..so I've had my macbook pro for almost two years now. No problems with it, but I find that their charger cables or headphones are weird as they always break for me one way or another. My charger started breaking a year ago, still works, just the green wires at the top have come out so I taped it. The charger still works. Anyway..today I was on my macbook, it was charging and it was on about 65%, then when I moved it somehow (I was adjusting it on my legs cause I was sitting down), it switched off. The charging light went off and the charger wouldn't work. After about 10 seconds I could switch my macbook back on. When the home screen came on, my date and time have been reset and I was disconnected from my internet and my background changed. I put everything back to normal and then after unplugging the charger and playing around with it I connected it to my macbook. It worked again. Now the same thing happened again. I somehow moved it and it switched off! What's wrong with it ? Can it be because of the charger or some virus or something? I tried checking the logs and Crash Reporter but nothing came up. Can anyone help? thanks

Let's address the breaking cable issue first. To unplug any cable, you need to grasp the connector shell, and pull. It is wrong to simply grab the cable wire, and give it a yank. For the other issue, try perfoming SMC and PRAM resets.

Macbook performance without the battery

I use the macbook pro for editing video in Final cut pro, and sometimes when I am at home I remove the battery.
and then I choose better performance, but the performance is not so good, i have constantly drop frames warning in the Final Cut.
I've read about that a lot, and most people say that if remove the battery the macbook pro runs in half perfomance.
And my question is,
can I get total perfomace of the Macbook pro connected to the power without the battery, like I have when I got the battery on it???

Does oracle have a solution for what i need?

Can anyone help because i am confused about Oracles offerings!
In my organisation where use Staffware v9 (now TIBCO, and not the iprocess engine) as the workflow backbone. Relatively simple process maps with background steps calling SQL code to perfom updates and return case data variable settings and foreground steps mapping to oracle forms. v9 is client server with limited API set so uses DDL calls with parameter passing and timers to communicate, but used the better API interfaces in the past. Currently on Oracle 10g at the moment, plans to go to 11g, but not holding my breath on this as we would need some infrastructure changes.
The client server nature of the TIBCO product and the fact that it uses flat files for transactional processing means that it is no longer suitable for our needs, and i want to replace it with an alternative. As we are an oracle shop, a suitable oracle product would be ideal, but unlike the (admittedly sparse) documentation on the old oracle workflow, the new stuff confuses the hell out of me as it seems so wrapped up with SOA concepts (something we are NOT interested in at the moment) and with the addition of some what conflicting BPM and BAM tools as well, there also seems no clear direction. TIBCO also want a lot of money to go to the new product
What i need is a tool to do the following
1) define users, access levels, group work queues with membership and supervisors
2) graphical process designer that can define PL/SQL interface steps, make available foreground tasks in the appropriate queues with APIs to access from the forms environment
3) workflow process management objects like
- decision based process routing on rule or data values
- sub procedure definitions
- external event APIs to control flow and update case data
- branching, joining and wait joins
- rules engines and dynamic process definition nice to have, but not critical
4) operational API for case starting, event issue, audit trail access etc.
5) APIs and repository held in the database
6) externally accessible database structure (ie: makes sense in sql) for reporting/management
I have worked with workflow systems for way too many years (years ago i was even on the Staffware advisory panel) so well up on how these systems work, and think that all of the above is pretty basic stuff, but (maybe just getting old) i cannot see how oracle are meeting what i see as the basics
any ideas?

I agree workflow is not SOA (Service Orientated Architecture). Oracle's strategic direction is BPEL / BPM, and Oracle workflow is moving to end of life.
BPEL is part of SOA Suite but you do have the option to buy standalone, it does have a prerequisite of weblogic suite though.
Although Oracle markets the product SOA Suite it does not mean you you have to develop a SOA architecture, you can still develop point to point interfaces as you do in workflow. SOA Suite just enables you get more reuse out of your existing systems, and future developments. If you want you can keep you workflow develop as it and integrate BPEL / SOA Suite with it.
Im sure you are very skilled in workflow but these skills are becomming very hard to find. They require strong PL/SQL skills and typically don't work with any other application or database without doing some customization. The fact that there is limited documentation shows that it is going to be difficult to upskill developers.
For the functionality Oracle provides in its BPM and SOA Suite I would say it is cheap, especially against our competitors. Also the more you buy the cheaper it gets.

I am trying to execute stored function from java in oracle . I am using Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 and the newest JDBC drivers, ie. for 10g which are compatible. I have flicked through JDBC Named Parameters example but it only addresses stored procedures.
The problem I have is that I do not know what name the return value of stored procedure has.
stored function parameter names:
1. ????
2. test1 Mode: IN
3. test2 Mode: IN
?=call test_function(?,?);
When I am trying to set values as indexes everything works perfect.
CallableStatement cs = .....
cs.registerOutParameter(1, Types.VARCHAR);
cs.setString(2, "a");
cs.setString(3, "b");
cs.execute();
String returnedValue = cs.getString(1);
However, when I am trying to use named parameters the code looks like this:

Logical Database being obsolete, we migrate towards...?

Hello.
I have been asked to rewrite a program Z that is in a lack of performance lately. I have looked at it and saw that it was using a logical database. After fixing and changing a few performances things like the SELECT/ENDSELECT and that kind of usual perfomance stuff, I read in my research that I did that it was still maintainted and used on the old programs but it is now something obsolete.
After reading on what it is and how big is their impact, I was wondering what is now replacing them when you need something similar on a newer program.
For example, in the request I have, the DDF logical database is used and is huge too. Though, in the new version, where I will try to prevent myself of using a logical database due to the fact it is obsolete, I am wondering what I can use instead to make a similar job.
After all, a huge concept like Logical Databases /has/ to have something that took over to replace them, right?

I understand what you mean but the performance cost actually is too high to be neglected. The program is actually making a call of GET KNA1, GET KNB1 and GET BSID which means 3 loops blocks in each other, not counting the possible loops needed in internal tables. This is quite a problematic at the moment because this old program now uses those three GET and the massive amount of datas in those three tables makes it that the performance is leading mostly to a short dump than a good final result.
This is why I was looking for an alternate way, looking towards if the Logical Database who is still used but declared "obsolete" was now having a replacement nowadays.
As far as the datas are concerned, to answer your question, the archivages of them happened time after time after time and everyday. It is getting to a point that we are too close of the actual date to even think of more archivage. Believe me, the datas involved, since this problem started, has been verified over and over again. But I know it was an option and thank you for suggesting it.
So it is really a perfomance issue and since the Logical Database takes a lot of performance, like John Armytage confirmed, I am trying to find an alternative to all this. Any suggestions? I still have not found anything that is replacing Logical Database today.

Better of between BO XI 3.1 or new version BO 4.0

We already having project of BO with other database.
we are moving database with SAP (currently going on) and we have moved some reports to BO 3.1.
Going forward we are having new phases to start.
So we have heard BO 4.0 version has come but not completely aware.
Hence can you guide us about what are the differences betwwe BO 4 and 3.1.
I have heard 4 version is completely different from 3.1.
So please guide us in terms of deploying in respect of how different it is and also perfomances wise and also about the whether wait for some time deploy BO 3.1 and go ahead

Hello,
the most change has been made to the integration of SAP. Like f.e.:
- Integration into SAP SolMan
- Better Performance using the BICS interface (BW 7.3 is recommended here)
- Harmonized the UI`s of all Reportingtools
- Better Integration into SAP EP
- New OLAP Analyzer "Advanced Analysis" for MS Office in BI4 and also Web Version coming with 4.1

If you start from scratch now using SAP BW as Datasource and BO for Reporting it would make sense starting direct with BW 7.3 and BI4.
