All,
Kindly guide us thr process of converiosn and interface testing before start of interface yesting?
How should we capture result?
Thanks

Arpit,
Where did you finally land on this issue?  If this is an ongoing issue I'm quite confident redefining the conversion factors to be  37 TO <> 200 DR will resolve your issue.  Here's an example of what the inventory would look like if receipted at various quantities:

    Hi guy's
Please let me know if some one of you know about SAP Conversion Project. Below you have more description:
    - testing of Interfaces from Legacy Systems
    - testing of conversion programs used in the conversion or transposition of data from legacy systems
    - data cleansing activities associated with conversion
    - identify and populate various SAP environments with Master Data necessary for both conversion and interface testing
Any detail info in that and what kind of knowledge you need to have in some of project will be useful.

inbound -> reading data from application server using
                  open dataset,read dataset,uploading data

  • Need RICEF Security specfifications for Interfaces and Conversions

    Hi All,
I need RICEF security specfications for Interfaces and Conversions. Can anyone provide any input on this.
    Regards
    Plaban

    Hi Plaban,
Thanks for the detailed explanation. As mentioned, as per my knowledge there is no specific guideline/template that you may adapt while designing the security design for the Interfaces and Conversions.
However, the most common issues that occurs with IDOCs is with file interfaces are related to file permissions, file ownership and character conversions moving between platforms.
Ensure that the appropriate authorization (read/write and with filters) authorization is provided. Identify the various levels of authorizations required and implement the same.
Further, most issues with ALE interfaces are with RFC user ID permissions. Ensure that the appropriate and only the Required authorization is provided to these IDs. This way you can tighten the authorization to the specific level. You may need to completely test the functionality before implementing this.
It is always important to understand these limitations during the functional design. If any specific additional functionality is required, you may need to have a custom based solution.
    Hope this answers your question!!
    Warm Regards,
    Raghu

  • Interface and Conversion

Where ca we get guidelines and solutions for interface and conversions.
    Thanks.

Sounds ike you might be talking about one of the 87 different products that Oracle sells, or perhaps one or two of the 315,683 features that Oracle products has.
Perhaps some details are in order
... and perhaps some digging in the appropriate Documentation at http://docs.oracle.com
... and perhaps asking in a forum (at http://forums.oracle.com) that deals with whatever it is you want, instead of a forum that deals with problems encountered during product download.

  • Difference between interface and conversion

could you give me the difference between interface and conversion

    hi
<b>Conversion,</b> converting legacy system data into SAP data. Meaning that it is mainly a one shot deal, for example bringing your customer master to SAP from the legacy system, converting the fields used in legacy to the fields and values used in SAP.
<b>Interface,</b> a program or group of programs that handle the passing of data from one system to another. These programs work together to export the data from one system and import into a target system, maybe these programs run once a day, maybe twice, may every hour throughout the day. It is a good way to keep the data in two or more systems in sync with each other.
Interface programs are also data extract program. Data is extracted from SAP into a flat file and transferred to other external systems like UNIX, mainframe.
In data extracts, the file layout is designed and this layout should be in synch with other external systems.
    <b>reward poins for useful ans</b>

  • Effects on Inventory when not performing Pick and Pack function in SAP

    Hi,
I have a question regarding the inventory Module, Pick and Pack function. If I bypass this function and use copy from Sales order to do invoicing. What are the side-effect on the the inventory balances ( Quantity and value)?
    Thanks in advance.
    Phil

    Hi,
If u don't want to use pick and pack function so there are no boundation.
when u copy from sale order to direct invoicing there is no harm .
u can do this without tension.
    Thanks,

  • SAP IDOC's, interfaces and BAPI's

Hi i am new to SD, can anyone give me documentation or reading material for SAP IDOC's, interfaces and BAPI's .
    Help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanking you

    Hi Reddy,
Very general question, I don't think you will find the answer in one document.
BAPIs are normal function modules, with predefined input and output structures to perform standard business transactions.
IDOCs are standardised interface documents to transfer data.
Once the IDOC is read, it almost always calls a BAPI to perform the business transaction.
Therefore start with reading about BAPIs since you will definately have to master those when starting to work on interfaces.
There are hundreds of BAPIs so best is to start with a specific process, example sales order create or material master create.
Try transaction BAPI, this lists most of the BAPIs and contains excellent documentation.
    Thanks for your points,
    Filip

  • Interface and SAP system issue

    hi Experts
Scenario : We have External system (Interface) and SAP system. GR usually done in External system for stock materials PO , then it will transfered and updated in SAP system thro IDOC daily bases.
And then in SAP ,Zreport is there to find out any discrepancy in stocks(Between Extrnl and SAP system).
Problem: They had done GR in external system and they had transferred to SAP throu IDOC. (This usually bieing processed for 1000 of materials.
Now for some materials its showing  discrepancy error in Zreport eventhough the SAP system got updated on stocks throu IDOC from external system. ( Not for all materials only for very few case).
So any experts has come across this kind situation in thier experiance .. how to solve this ??
Note : If any Bacth job is being done in background in SAP after updation the stocks in SAP system throu IDOC. How to find out the batch job in back groud ???
    Thanks

    hii
    Thanks for ur response.
I did't mention in previous message, IDOC got posted in SAP system perfectly without any error . (I have cross checked IDOC).
But after idoc posting in SAP system , the Zreport getting updated , so here is my confusion and doubt.
Where there can be any system in background to update stocks in Zreport from SAP system. Is it possible to find from our side batch job has being processed between standard SAP and Zreport .
There is any way to find ???
    Thanks

  • Currency conversion error in SAP HANA

    Hi,
I am new to SAP HANA and learning to create information views in HANA studio (SAP HANA SP6 on Cloudshare, HANA studio 1.0.68). I am trying to create a simple analytic view (on purchaseOrderItem table in SAP_HANA_EPM_DEMO sample database) to have GrossAmount converted to EUR.
I added a calculated column as follows:
When i click on "OK", i get error -
The check box “Calculate before aggregation” has been unchecked, because the definition of the calculated column contains measures with currency conversion, restricted measures or operands with input parameters. For such a calculated column the calculation is always done after the aggregation."
and checkbox "calculate before aggregation" get unchecked. See screenshot below:
Please suggest what could be reason? Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
If you uncheck the "Calculate before aggregation" checkbox and activate the view, you will see in the generated log that a Calc scenario is created. (a view with /olap wrapper). Due to the calc scenario, the aggregation is defined as the default behavior for the KFs and hence the calculation cannot be done before aggregation.
By the way, I did not understand why do you need calculate before aggregation for a KF which is just a copy of another KF. If you need Gross amount in Local currency and EUR, then just perform the currency conversion without "Calculate before aggregation" checkbox. It will work.

  • INTERFACE AND EVENTS IN ABAP OO

Can some one explain me the real time need with example for use of interfaces and events in abap objects
(asking interface and events along doesnt mean that i am relating them).
    <removed_by_moderator>
    Pankaj Giri
Edited by: Julius Bussche on Jul 14, 2008 1:36 PM

    Events :
    Technically speaking :
" Events are notifications an object receives from, or transmits to, other objects or applications. Events allow objects to perform actions whenever a specific occurrence takes place. Microsoft Windows is an event-driven operating system, events can come from other objects, applications, or user input such as mouse clicks or key presses. "
Lets say you have an ALV - An editable one ...
Lats say - Once you press some button  you want some kind of validation to be done.
    How to do this ?
Raise an Event - Which is handled by a method and write the validation code.
Now you might argue, that I can do it in this way : Capture the function code - and call the validate method.
Yes, in this case it can be done.. But lets say .. you change a field in the ALV and you want the validation to be done as soon as he is done with typing.
Where is the function code here ? No function code... But there is an event here - The data changed event.
So you can raise a data changed event that can be handled and will do the validation.
It is not user friendly that you ask the user to press a button (to get the function code) for validation each time he enters a data.
The events can be raised by a system, or by a program also. So in this case the data changed event is raised by a system that you can handle.
Also, Lets say on a particular action you want some code to trigger. (You can take the same example of validation code). In this case the code to trigger is in a separate class. The object of which is not available here at this moment. (This case happens very frequently).
Advantage with events : Event handlers can be in a separate class also.
e.g : In the middle of some business logic .. you encounter a error. You want to send this information to the UI (to user - in form of a pop up) and then continue with some processing.
In many cases - A direct method call to trigger the pop up is not done. Because (in ideal cases) the engine must not interact with UI directly - Because the UI could be some other application - like a windows UI but the error comes from some SAP program.
So - A event is raised from the engine that is handled in the UI and a pop up is triggered.
Here -- I would have different classes (lets say for different Operating Systems). And all these classes must register to the event ERROR raised in application.
And these different classes for different Operation systems will have different code to raise a pop-up.
Now you can imagine : If you coded a pop-up for Windows (in your application logic) .. it will not work for Mac or Linux. But of you raise a event.. that is handled separately by a different UI classes for Win, Linux or Mac  they will catch this event and process accordingly.
May be I complicated this explanation .... but I couldn't think of a simpler and concrete example.
    Cheers.
    Varun.

  • Internal Conversion error excel-SAP

A request was made from our users if it was possible to make standard excel lay outs
This moment when running a report, the filters and subtotals dissapear after downloading to excel.
Apperantly it is possible to make a standard lay out in excel.
    For this I :
    - run my report
    - go to change view --> excel
    - select a standard excel lay out.
But when I download then to my hard disk and open the file, no data is in the file.
When I paste my data in it and save and try to upload it to SAP i get the problem internal conversion error
Anybody has an answer for me how to proceed?
    many thanx,

    Hi Amit,
If you uncheck the "Calculate before aggregation" checkbox and activate the view, you will see in the generated log that a Calc scenario is created. (a view with /olap wrapper). What i did is that i installed the JDK version : 1.4.2.04 instead of 1.3.1 and reinstalled the product. So the installation completed successfully..

  • Translation, valuation and conversion of currencies

    Hi Experts,
Please let me know what is the diffrence between valuation, translation and conversion of currencies and how can it be done?
    regards
    kumar

    Dear Kumar,
    In IMG under
SAP Netweaver -> General Settings -> Currencies
    -> Check Exchange Rate Types
Exchange rates for different purposes for the same date are defined in the system as exchange rate types.
If you need to carry out currency translations between a number of different currencies, you can simplify exchange rate maintenance by entering a base currency for the exchange rate type. Instead of entering translation rates between every single currency, you then only need specify the translation rate between each currency and the base currency. All currency translations then take place in two steps - into the base currency and from the base currency into the target currency.
The base currency is DEM. You want to translate FRF to CHF. To do this, the following entries must be made in the table for maintaining currency translation rates:
o Ratio for FRF -> DEM
o Ratio for CHF -> DEM
Translation from FRF to CHF is then carried out automatically. The translation is done as though this exchange rate (FRF -> CHF) was actually entered in the conversion table.
In this example, the base currency (DEM) is the To-currency and FRF or CHF the From-currency.
For exchange rate relations within the EU, it is a legal requirement that the base currency (EUR) is the From-currency. You set the indicator for this in the BCurr=from field.
SAP Netweaver -> General Settings -> Currencies
-> Enter Exchange RatesExchange rates are required to:
Translate foreign currency amounts when posting or clearing or to check an exchange rate entered manually
Determine the gain and loss from exchange rate differences
Evaluate open items in foreign currency and the foreign currency balance sheet accounts
The exchange rates are defined by period ("valid from").
The  function has been improved. Choose the activity Define Exchange Rate Input Worklist or Assign Exchange Rate to Worklist.
The system uses the type M exchange rates for foreign currency translation when posting and clearing documents in the activity Enter Exchange Rate. An entry must exist in the system for this exchange rate type. The exchange rates apply to all company codes.
The exchange rate relations for currency conversion are only displayed here. Read the chapter Define Translation Ratios for information about exchange rate relations maintenance.
    You define:
the rate types under which you want to store your exchange rates in the step
    "Check Exchange Rate Type"
the required currency keys in the step "Check Currency Codes"
    the conversion factors for
    -   the currency pair
    -   the exchange rate type
    -   the date
in the step "Define the Conversion Factors for Currency Conversion"
Currency Valuation: - To create your financial statements, you have to perform a foreign currency valuation. This valuation covers the following accounts and items:
    ·        Foreign currency balance sheet accounts, that is, the G/L accounts that you run in foreign currency.
The balances of the G/L accounts that are not managed on an open item basis are valuated in foreign currency.
    ·        Open items that were posted in foreign currency.
Open items that are open on the key date are valuated in foreign currency.
You have the following options for the foreign currency valuation:
    ·        You can perform the valuation in local currency, (company code currency), or a parallel currency (for example, group currency).
    ·        You can also use different valuation methods (for example, lowest value principle).
    ·        If you want to translate additional currencies from the local currency, foreign currency valuation automatically performs a currency translation.
    Regards,
    Naveen.
