Performa 6300CD - Which Monitor Adapter?

A friend has a Mac Performa 6300CD with the stock Apple monitor that came with it. The monitor is starting to go, and he wants to connect a generic monitor. Does anyone know what type of adapter he would need? Thanks.

It depends on the generic monitor. If you can find and older VGA-Connector monitor rated as "MultiSync," you only need an adaptor that converts a Mac DB-15 connector to VGA. The vendor's link I found shows as out-of-stock but the images give a clear view of what you need:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812296029
You should be able to still find one elsewhere once you know what to look for.
Go for an old style monitor with the 4:3 ratio; newer widescreen monitors are not supported by the 6300's pre-Deluvian video hardware. MultiSync monitors commonly have "MS" in the model number.
An non-MS monitor requires an adaptor with 8-12 tiny DIP switches to set screen resolution properly. They are more expensive, harder to find, and a severe "PITA" to locate the proper switch position codes. It behooves your friend to find the right monitor (Multi-Sync and 4:3 aspect ratio and only then find the simple adaptor.

  • Performa 6300CD problems

    Hi,
I have a Performa 6300CD that i sold, and was ready to ship it out. I turned it on this morning, formated the drive completely (zeroed all data), then did a brand new install of Mac OS 8.5. Then i figured the CD Drive suddenly stopped working, after trying about 20 CDs (and restarting 30 times). It worked perfectly this morning, now its dead. I tried booting with the Network Access Diskette, but it says that it was not compatible with the computer (no idea why).
I was able to use my other Mac to put the 5xxx/6xxx Tester on a diskette, but the program says that it does not have any of the logic board problems.
I need this computer up and running ASAP! ANY help AT ALL would be extremely appreciated!!!!
    Thanks,
    Gil

Those old 62xx/63xx/6400/6500 Performas/Power Macs use a 4.5-volt alkaline battery on the motherboard, to preserve a variety of system settings stored in PRAM. The loss of the correct date/time indicates that the battery is dead. The primary concern about a dead alkaline battery is that it will eventually leak, when left indefinitely in a stored/unplugged computer. The leakage will corrode the motherboard's circuitry and any metal in its vicinity. You should pull out the motherboard and inspect for damage from a leaking battery.
As for retrieving data from the hard drive, the 6300 uses an IDE hard drive. Your 7200/90 has no onboard ATA buses to which the hard drive could be connected. You can purchase an adapter (about $20) at many PC stores, that will convert the drive's IDE interface to a USB cable with plug. Using this type of adapter, you could plug the drive into your G4's or G5's USB ports and transfer the files that you want. This is probably the fastest method for doing this, as you would likely have little reason to (permanently) install the 6300's very small capacity hard drive in an external enclosure for extended usage. Unless you used a file encryption software (like Norton's "DiskLock," the password-protection on the hard drive should be disabled, when not booted from its system folder (especially if you used the bundled "At Ease" program). If you need directions for removal of the 6300's hard drive, post back.

  • Performance analysis and monitoring of a Forteapplication

    Hello,
It would be good if one could do some performance analysis and monitoring of
a Forte application at production time.
By performance analysis I mean measure the time some selected methods take
to return. In a CS application such a method would be some selected method
of a key remote service representative of the application's activity.
One would like to mesure the min, max, average time, and also give a
threshhold which when reached will automatically generate an alarm or some
    pre-defined processing.
The most powerful way would be to use a SNMP application through a Forte -
SNMP gateway. (see the G. Puterbaugh paper "Building a Forte-SNMP gateway"
in the 96' Forte Forum proceedings).
But before going that far some simple means accessible through EConsole
    would already be great.
A collegue of mine when to that Forum and reported that Puterbaugh said that
such an agent is currently missing, but that its implementation is not
    difficult.
I looked at all the agents and their instruments. I came to the following
    conclusions :
    1) instrumented data are available at the granularity level of a partition,
not at a smaller granularity. For example, the DistObjectMgr agent gives you
very useful information : the number of events (sent/received) and the
number of (remote) methods (called/invoked), but this for the entire
partition. Thus it prevents making tuned observations (unless you partition
in a special way your application to put in a dedicated partition the thing
you want to observe and only this thing).
    2) there is no instrumented data related to processing time.
This leads me to the point that no information observed by the standard
agents help me figuring out my performances. Thus I have to add at
development time some lines of code to the methods I potentially want to
observe later at production time to generate the appropriate information a
custom agent will then display (process) with the appropriate instruments.
Does someone share this position ?
Has someone implemented such an agent and assotiated means ?
PS: I will probably implement my own one if no other way around.

  • Component monitoring - adapter engine error, but no channel in error actual

    Hi,
We have a problem in displaying a status of Adapter Engine in RWB. In component monitoring there's a red light and the status - "Are communication channels without errors?" says there's an communication channel in error. But when I click the Communication channel monitoring, everything's green there. Yes, there was an error before, but it's ok now. Why is the AE item in Component monitoring still red? How to make it to reflect the current status?
    Thank you,
    Olian

    Hi Olian,
i am saying to use the cache connectivity test button option from RWB -> compnent monitoring , so have you done cache test using this? if yes, click on refresh display to see the latest adapter engine status..............if it is green, then it is okay..............but if it is red here, it means some comm channel is erroring sometimes - i guess it can be a file adapter using ftp or some rfc adapter......................
if it is green here and compnent monitoring - adapter engine status is red because some comm channel errored in past.........then i think some cache is not getting refreshed - i do not know exactly how to rectify it...........but i can tell you some workaround for it..............the comm channel which was erroring just stop it from comm channel monitoring........then close RWB and again open it and see compnent monitoring - adapter engine status again in it - i think it should be green now.......or  try by changing any comm channel description data in ID and save and activate it.........then again check your compnent monitoring - adapter engine status..................but dont worry i think this is a temporary problem

  • Performance issue entering monitor etc

    Dear Sirs,
Our system currently feels quite slow. When entering the monitor for a load, or managing a cube the system it takes a while.
In SM50 I can see it reads at table  (sequential) på RSMONIPTAB (which contains 1 millions records).
SAP help.sap.com describes a process u201CArchivation of Request Administration Datau201D, which might help? Look below. However, I do not like the paragraph marked in bold. What kind of features do they reference to.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/42/ead8d7b55e1bd2e10000000a11466f/frameset.htm
Archiving request administration data allows you to store the administration and log information for a request in an archive. In BI, tables store the totals records that the system requires so that the request is not set to red because information is missing. This function allows you to limit the size of the administration and log tables, RSDONE und RSMON. This improves performance for actions performed for the request and in the affected InfoProviders and saves memory space in the database without affecting the status set by the system.
For certain functions and processes that access requests, you have to reload request administration data to the BI administration and log tables.
Any hints on the issue in general; performance issue with monitor, please let me know.
    Best regards,
    Jørgen

Guess note below describes gives more info about situation. However, not with a clear solution :=)
SAP Note 694895 - Performance and tables RSMON, RSDONE
Note Language: English Version: 5 Validity: Valid Since 29.11.2005
    Summary
    Symptom
Tables RSMON* (for example, table RSMONMESS) and tables RS*DONE (for
example, table RSSELDONE) continuously increase in size in the BW system
with each request that is created.
Currently there is no option to reduce these tables.
Do not delete any entries from these tables. If you did, this would have
    the following consequences:
When you carry out the next check for the requests for which you have
deleted records from these tables, the check will not run properly.
The status of the relevant requests turns RED in the monitor, and also in
all affected data targets that contain the request.
The affected request and all subsequent requests are no longer visible in
the reporting - all queries on the affected data targets then only display
    old data.
Numerous dumps will occur in various situations.
You will not be able to repair the errors caused by the deletion.
    More Terms
    RSMONMESS; RSSELDONE; Performance; RSMON; RSDONE;
    Cause and Prerequisites
This is caused by a program error.
    Solution
In the next BW release (BI in SAP NetWeaver 2004s - that is BW 7.0), you
will be able to archive entries from the RSMON* and RS*DONE tables using a
request archiving process that archives the administrative information for
    requests.
After archiving, these tables are then considerably reduced in size.
Until then, there is unfortunately no option for reducing the tables.

  • Which Monitoring Tool is best to monitor LAN and WAN

    Hi,
CAN ANYONE TELL ME Which Monitoring Tool is best to monitor LAN and WAN.
    Waiting for immediate response.
    Thanks
    Irshad

To start with HP open, this is SNMP-based as well. As it is around for quite a while and delivers support for many vendors, it has become sort of an industry standard. Many other vendors deliver add-ons (even CiscoWorks) to support their products via HP open. That functionality however comes with a price. If you have plenty of money an a large network to manage, HP open might be your best choice.
Cisco Works and other -start-with-C- products are typically used to manage Cisco devices. If you have a fair share of non-cisco boxes around you will find that you cannot see or do everything with them that you might want.
One special thing about CiscoWorks is that it lacks a grapical real-time overview of the network. In my opinion this is a weakness in the product. On the other hand, it has many nice features to manage all kinds of Cisco devices.
My ideal solution is to use both a generic SNMP manager, SNMPc in my case, and CiscoWorks 2000. With SNMPc I can quickly see network node status and do some bandwidth management (baselining). CW2k serves mainly to execute changes (NetConfig) and as a syslogger. It is also used to perform IOS upgrades and to store config files.
I guess this could be done with HP open as well, but our money does not reach far enough to pay for both. SNMPc costs a lot less, both in purchase and in maintenance.
Hope this clarifies things a bit.

  • Performance problems with File Adapter and XI freeze

    Hi NetWeaver XI geeks,
We are deploying a XI based product and encounter some huge performance problems. Here after the scenario and the issues:
    - NetWeaver XI 2004
    - SAP 4.6c
    - Outbound Channel
    - No mapping used and only the iDocs Adapter is involved in the pipeline processing
    - File Adapter
    - message file size < 2Ko
We have zeroed down the problem to Idoc adapter’s performance.
We are using a file channel and  every 15 seconds a file in a valid Idoc format is placed in a folder, Idoc adapter picks up the file from this folder and sends it  to the SAP R/3 instance.
For few minutes (approx 5 mins) it works (the CPU usage is less then 20% even if processing time seems huge : <b>5sec/msg</b>) but after this time the application gets blocked and the CPU gets overloaded at 100% (2 processes disp_worker.exe at 50% each).
If we inject several files in the source folder at the same time or if we decrease the time gap (from 15 seconds to 10 seconds) between creation of 2 Idoc files , the process blocks after posting  2-3 docs to SAP R/3.
Could you point us some reasons that could provoke that behavior?
Basically looking for some help in improving performance of the Idoc adapter.
Thanks in advance for your help and regards,
    Adalbert

    Hi Bhavesh,
Thanks for your suggestions. We will test...
We wonder if the hardware is not the problem of this extremely poor performance.
    Our XI server is:
    •     Windows 2003 Server
    •     Processors: 2x3GHZ
    •     RAM: 4GB (the memory do not soak)
The messages are well formed iDocs = single line INVOICES.
Some posts are talking 2000 messages processed in some seconds... whereas we got 5 sec per message.
    Tnanks for your help.

  • Monitor Adapter

I bought a mini 2 weeks ago. Of course, as always happens to me the last 20 years, when I buy a mac, within 2 weeks a new one comes out with a HUGE advancement. Sigh. Anyway, it came with a monitor adapter cable. But my monitor doesn't fit it. Does anyone know of an adapter to be able to use a monitor with 15 pins - 3 rows of 5 pins, staggered, overall shape like a top-heavy trapezoid? Something that will plug into my new (and a week later, already old) mini or into the adapter that came with the new (old) mini or the old old mini.
I find lots of adapters that almost would fit into my new adapter, but they all have 2 pins above and below the long flat one, and the new adapter has no holes around the flat one.
    Thanks.

Wanted to let you know, I purchaseD a mini on 5/20/2010. Called Sales about the New Mini, they sent me a return shipping label, and sending me a New One. I was having the same issue, the New Mini comes with HDMI. However, if you purchase the $29 dvi to hdmi adaptor, it connects to the cable you received with your purchase, then connect from your Mini to HDMI on your tv or Home Theater Reciever; you will need an audio cabel as well, 3.5 mm plug on each end to audio out and into tv and/Mac (or use a optical audio wire with a 3.5mm on one end (radio shack, crutchfield, etc). Hope you call and make the trade for the newer Mini, much improved, as i'v read. Mine is on the way.....good luck

  • Multiple monitors - how to define which monitor files open on

    Mac OS 10.8.X
    PS CS6
I work on a Mac with three monitors. My primary monitor is in the middle. I often will drag images to one of the side monitors where they'll stay open while I'm working on other images. But photoshop will open the next image I choose on the side monitors where I've got images open.
I want all new images to open on my primary monitor, always. Is there a way to define which monitor images will open on?

Photoshop will open an image on the last monitor an image was on. If I open an image and drag it to one of my side monitors, then open a new image, it will open on the same monitor where the other image is sitting. If I open an image and move it to a side monitor, then close it on that monitor, the next image will open on that monitor.
So I think your answer is not correct. PS always opens the image on the last monitor where an image resided.
    Repro:
Have two monitors, A and B.
Open an image. It will open on A. Drag the image to monitor B.
Open a second image by double clicking an image in a finder window. It will now open on B.
    Close images on Monitor B
double click a new image to open it. It will open on B.
Now take that image and drag it back to A. Close it.
Double click and image to open a new image in PS. It will now open on A.
    Result:
Photoshop remembers the last monitor where an image was open, and will open subsequent images on that monitor, even if that monitor is no longer present. For example, if you open an image on your main monitor, then drag it to a projector window, then close the window. then turn off the projector. All new images you open will be on the projector, even if it's turned off. The only way to use PS again is to turn the projector back on, drag the images back to the monitor you want to use, then close them from there.
NB: To test your theory, I opened an image in Preview on monitor A, then dragged it to monitor B. Opened next image, and it opens on A. PS behaves differently than the system. This has always been the behavior of PS, from many version back, so this isn't specific to PS6, but it would be nice to be able to change or affect that behavior.
