Performa monitor died-options?

The monitor on the 6116CD went to black with a bright horizontal streak of light across the middle of the screen. I have replaced the battey in this computer 3 times over the years--the last time about 3 weeks ago. I think the monitor is gone and I had decided to retire the Performa (as I had posted earlier). But now I can't remove any data. I am wondering if there is a market for the computer only (the cd drive won't read now), or how can I dispose of this old friend? Should I just put it out with the trash? Before the monitor crash the computer was working fine. I would appreciate suggestions from anyone who has dealt with this problem.

"I'll have to find a monitor that will work--"
If you want an inexpensive solution, check any thrift stores in your area that sell donated computers, monitors, etc. Since LCD displays are more affordable now, many of the older "CRT" type displays are being donated, as users replace them with LCD models. I've seen many priced at $15 or less. Be warned that donated electronic equipment isn't necessarily working when dropped off, or tested by the thrift stores upon receipt. If you can't test one in the store, I'd base my decision to buy on the physical condition of the display. Hopefully (but not necessarily), a display that appears to have been carefully handled and well-maintained would be a better candidate for purchase. Obviously, electronic component failure - permanent or intermittent - isn't cosmetic, and the best-looking used display could be one with internal problems.

    In order to find the PerformanceMonitor web app, the ConsoleExt needs to
    examine your classpath to get the appropriate WLHOME. It does this by
    searching for .../server/lib/weblogic.jar. Please make sure your CLASSPATH
    is correct and matches where PerformanceMonitor is installed. For example,
    the path to .../server/lib/weblogic.jar is the same as to ../common/perf. In
    my world, they both happen to be d:\bea\weblogic81.

  • Alert Performance Monitor

    Hello to all,
    I am writing to ask for clarification on the Performance Monitor on Win7 .
    I would like to create a custom model that meets the following criteria:
    - Add only counters of my interest ;
    - Plan the times and days when you will control ;
    - Mark all of the user-defined reports ;
    - Start the alert on EventViewer \ Logs app and Services Logs \ Microsoft \ Windows \ DiagnosisPLA ID: 2031 Information and sending an email .
    I created a new template, select the Create Manually \ Notice Performance Counters \ solezionato and I only those of interest to me such as the CPU and Memory ( MB \ Available )
    I can clarify the exact value to be entered in the Limit field , Above and Below ?
    Taking the example of Memory ( MB \ Available ) , I wish it would create an Alert when the PC has less than 512 Mbytes free. In this case the limit field should include , 512Mb and selecting Under ?
    Setting the Alert performance counters , I will build the model in user-defined reports , but does not allow me to see anything unlike any other option that I put ... in the sense that I did not , however, a route log .
    While planning should go on the property.
    thanks for answer..

    Hi,
    Do you mean that you've already known about how to create an alert but not sure about the limit value and you're unable to see anything in the report?
    If so...
    For the value of the limit, it is a threshold value, choose whether to alert when the counter value is above or below the limit, if you want to start alert under 512 Mbytes, then I think value 512 is just fine.
    For the report issue,
    "Setting the Alert performance counters , I will build the model in user-defined reports , but does not allow me to see anything unlike any other option that I put ... in the sense that I did not , however, a route log ."
    what is the detailed symptom? see this link
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc766130.aspx
    To view reports, Local Performance Log Users or Administrator group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure, and Performance Log Users group must be assigned the "Logon as a batch User" user right.

  • Performance Monitor Will Not Work

    The checkbox for Enable Performance Monitoring under the
    debugging options tab in my CF8 install will not stay checked. Also
    when I try to use the performance monitor to monitor CF8 it does
    not work. Any ideas?

    CF7 migrated to 8, applied fix as in kb402900 but no change
    for me... cfstat can't find cfserver and no instance available in
    perfmon
    however i DID get it to work... it looks like the migration
    process made .bak of all the xml files
    the neo-metric.xml file had the format
    <wddxPacket version="1.0">
    <header />
    <data>
    <struct type="coldfusion.server.ConfigMap">
    <var name="cfstat">
    <string>true</string>
    </var>
    <var name="cfstatport">

    <var name="simpleLoad.sampleRate">
    <string>5</string>
    </var>
    <var name="reqTimingWindow">

    <var name="simpleLoad.constLoad">

    </var>
    <var name="simpleLoad.maxRequests">
    <string>500</string>

    <var name="cfperfmon.pullfreq">
    <number>1.0</number>
    </var>
    <var name="simpleLoad.sampleSize">
    <string>50</string>
    </var>
    <var name="cfperfmon">
    <string>true</string>
    </var>
    </struct>
    </data>
    </wddxPacket>
    and neo-metric.bak had the format
    <wddxPacket version="1.0">
    <header />
    <data>
    <struct type="coldfusion.server.ConfigMap">
    <var name="simpleLoad.maxRequests">

    <var name="cfperfmon.pullfreq">
    <number>1.0</number>
    </var>
    </struct>
    </data>
    </wddxPacket>
    i noted that cfstat port in the old shows
    <string>7999</string> and in the new cf8 it shows
    <number>7999</number>
    the entries are also in a different order (but i'm guessing
    that shouldn't be a problem..right???)
    i renamed neo-mertic.xml to neo-metric.cf8 (as backup) and
    renamed neo-metric.bak (the cf7 version) to neo-metric.xml ,
    restarted cfservice and now cfstat works and there's a jrun
    instance in perfmon
    you may be able to fix it by simply changing
    <number></number> to <string></string> in
    the existing version of neo-metrics.xml (unless the tag order does
    count)...I didn't try that...
    note: I had already applied the dll fixes so that may or may
    not be required...

    Hi Sam,

    you're in trouble since you won't be able to detect any changes from a
    baseline.
    As was suggested, use AWR (if you're licenced), if not, use Statspack,
    every 30 mins or so and check to see if there are any bottlenecks.

  • OBIEE 11g Application Performance Monitoring

    Are there any best practices or recommendations for Application Performance Monitoring for OBIEE 11g?
    I see that from Fusion MiddleWare Control, we can navigate to Business Intelligence -> CoreApplication (right click) -> Monitoring -> Performance
    And from here we have a huge amount of performance metrics to choose from.
    What I'm interested in finding out is:
    1). Out of these hundreds of metrics, are there a subset of "core" performance metrics that Oracle recommends monitoring that gives a good baseline for performance of the application?
    2) What are the options for capturing/gathering/saving these metrics for historical and trend analysis?

    Excellent post. Thanks. Is there some sort of trial of the tool you guys built that's described in the post you linked?
    "In addition to the out-of-the-box options above, here at RittmanMead we have developed our own OBIEE monitoring tool.
    DMS metrics are stored directly on disk or through a database, enabling both immediate and retrospective analysis. Custom dashboards enable the display of both OBIEE and OS data side-by-side for ease of analysis. Integration with third-party tools is also an option."

  • Performance Monitoring - How to get the data

    Hi all,
    we have a tool to monitor non sap systems and services and would like to use the same tool to get some runtime information from PI services, specially soap interfaces. The information we want is available at runtime workbench, performance monitoring.
    Is there a standard function we can use to get this data (EJB , Bapi, RFC, etc...) ? Today we are importing daily a file with this information from RWB, but this is enough only for statistical purposes, not for monitoring.
    Some tip?
    thank you.
    regards.
    roberti

    Roberti,
      Three are a number of ways to tackle these things - I usually like CCMS just because SAP spends so much time making it work for everything anyway - if your tool can connect to this - you can get some decent information from here about your system status, queue's and java.
      Speficially for Messages, I don't think that there are monitors defined as RFC BADI's or BAPI's to use but if you feel saucy, tables for messages are SXMSPMAST2 and SXMSPMAST - should give you a programming head-start to get some data and pass that back although you would only replicate the functions in CCMS.
      Of course with all SAP Products, you have to go through the application to get this data, no ODBC connections or otherwise - there are other options like DBCON to allow you to 'send' data to other Db's if you need to do it that way.
      Hope that helps somewhat and if this answers your question, please set your thread to answered.

  • Performance Monitor: what does ProcessingTime exactly mean

    Hello,
    we have to analyze the poor performance of our Idoc --> SOAP Implementation. In order to figure out,
    where exactly the time get lost, we have re-check all stepts og the overall process. The Integration
    Process makes some simple things:
    - Receive Idoc
    - map the dest. message
    - Call Receiver by SOAP async
    - read the Response, and set the status of the IDoc async.
    All works fine but rather slow (not using the BPE is not an option!)
    The Performance Monitor for the synchron SOAP Inbound Interface to the
    receiving application tells us 1104 msg/h, respectively 2,172 sec/msg.
    My question is, which time-periode do these numbers exactly span? Is
    this the duration simply for the begin/end of the SOAP-Call independent
    of the BPE? In other words: how and where can i see, whether the poor
    performance comes from the fact, that the BPE just fires so few messages
    per minute via the interface, or the SOAP-Call itselfs is very slow?
    If the latter is true, the bad performance would have nothing to do with the
    BPE but simply with the SOAP-Server, right?
    Thanks in advance

  • OVD: Performance Monitor Plug-In

    Hey Everyone,
    I need help getting the Performance Monitor plug-in working for OVD. I followed the instructions found in metalink document 472759.1 and in the OVD manual, but still no luck. I must be missing something. I have tried using the adapter globally and just on a specific adapter.
    The steps I follow are:
    1. Select a specific adapter.
    2. Under Plug-in/Mapping Configuration click New Plug-in
    3. Click "Select from Server..."
    4. Select the "Performance Monitor" option
    5. Leave Parameters blank and click Next.
    6. Leave the Namespace blank and click Finished.
    7. Save settings to the server.
    8. Perform a search on the adapter with a filter of “vdeSearchtime=*”
    I get nothing back. Am I doing something incorrectly or missing a step?
    Thanks,
    Stephen

    I was having same response. Then I tried to execute the search directly in OVD Manager and it returned results.

  • Enabling Windows Performance Monitor in CF8

    Platform: Windows 2003 SP2, CF8 Standard (upgraded from CF7)
    I can't seem to get the Windows Performance Monitor Counters
    for CF8 to work in my newly upgraded installation.
    1) In CF Administrator > Debug Output Settings I tick the
    "Enable Peformance Monitoring" option and click Submit Changes.
    Message: "Server updated" appears and the box remains ticked.
    However If I refresh the page or navigate to another and return,
    the tick is lost.
    2) Restart CF Service
    3) Open Perfmon and click Add Counters
    4) ColdFusion 8 Perfomance Object and Counters are all listed
    correctly, BUT there are "no instances" in the box on the right and
    therefore the "Add" button is disabled, so I can't add any
    counters.
    5) Checking in CFAdmin again, the "Enable PM" tick is still
    lost.
    It all worked in CF7, however that was on W2K3 SP1.
    SP2 is a new factor, could that be the cause?
    Thanks.

    Fixed by editing the neo-metric.xml

  • Internetwork Performance Monitor

    Hello Friends,
    In LMS 4.0 Internetwork Performance monitor, when i try to configure collector configuration, in source devices only 2 switches are available i.e 6500 and 3560 but in Target devices i m able to see 32 devices what i have discovered in DCR,
    Why that so,can anybody help me to understand such issue.
    Thanks

    Hello Dears,
    Manually Importing DCR Devices.
    You can manually add devices to IPM by deselecting the Enable Auto Mode option and select the Apply button in the Internetwork Performance Monitor > Admin > Auto Allocation Settings page. Then go to Internetwork Performance Monitor > Collector Management > Devices and click Add Devices.
    I m using LMS 4.0, the path above is not same in LMS 4.0 there is no Add devices tab to add devices manually but there is a Add Adhoc devices Tab which i can use to add devices manually??
    when there is enable auto mode then why these devices are not imported in IPM automatically, Devices are imported by RME,CM,and also in DFM,but why not in IPM.As per the attachement in previous mail how come these 2 devices were imported in IPM.

  • Performance monitor- can't paste previously saved counters list

    Hi all!
    In Performance monitor mmc I can save currently used counters by selecting them, and right click -> “Save Settings as...”. These settings are saved in .htm file. If I open this file in Notepad, select all text, and then go back to empty
    perfmon console, there are options to paste (with Ctrl+V or by button “Paste Counter List”) this counter list.
    But nothing happens…  My perfmon console stays empty!
    This approach works exactly as expected in Windows Server 2008 R2, but not in Windows Server 2012. I tried on tree different server installations, and with no success. The only way I found to save and re-use later my counter list is to
    start mmc.exe, adding performance monitor snap-in, select necessary counters, and finally save as custom console.
    Did anybody knows why in Server 2012 cannot paste previously saved counter list In performance monitor console?

    Hi all
    I habe exactly the same problem: I have a text file containing all the wanted counters which I saved at a running Server 2008 R2. I simply copied that file to the other Servers (2003, 2008, 2008 R2) and it worked everywhere. But not on Server 2012.
    I thought, ok, maybe the filesyntax has changed. So I started from the scratch and added few counters manually in the server 2012, chose "Copy properties" and saved them to a new file.
    Afterwards I closed the performance monitor, started it again and tried to copy / paste them again from the text file. But nothing happened as mentioned by Oleg V. Ivaonov.
    Thanks for any hint or solution, Andreas

    I don't see anything in the Application or System event logs that say anything about the performance monitor. Maybe there is another event log that I don't know about.
    I have similar reports running on WS2008 machines and they don't stop running.

    Hi Cam,
    If you mean to run this data collector indefinitely, please try to set 1439 ((23*60) + 59 )minutes for the Overall duration in stop condition, which is 23 hours and 59 minutes total run time. Because Reports are compiled once the collector
    set stops. This means we can’t let this collector just simply run forever because I will never get a report.
    Please also check the option "If the task is already running, then the following rule applies: Stop the existing instance" in the related scheduled task under Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > PLA.
    I also recommend you can go through this article, which lists many good tips to configure Data Collector Sets:
