Performance Assessment - "Performance and Potential Update in TMC" for VC
Hi All,
I am interested in using the "Performance and Potential Update in TMC" enhancement follow-up processing on a Performance Assessment form for a VC object rather than the VA object. I have always got this to work for the VA but so far not for VC. WE put a debugger on BAdI HRHAP00_FOLLOW_UP but it appears this only gets called when you use Follow-Up from the Appraisal Documents menu in PHAP_ADMIN if your Final Appraisal and Progress Potential are not in the VA object.
Any advice much appreciated!

SAP have informed us that the Follow-up BAdI requires a new implementation to specify the VC object.

I'm working on a 3.0B BW system.
After updating from PSA to an ODS, in the log I see the following line:
"Performing check and potential update for status control table" and double clicking on it, it says:
If data is loaded into an InfoCube, or existing data is edited (aggregated/compressed/deleted/got from a DataMart), then there is a change in the potential reportability of the data , or the possibility of deleting data by request, or of aggregating or compressing.
This status of each one of these Cubes is stored in a status table, that is updated when there is any change to the status of a request in the Cube.
The system now analyzes the requests in the Cube and compares the calculated status with the status table.
If deviations from the status table arise then you are given the option of adjusting the status table.
I have 2 questions:
1) What is BW doing, mainly because I'm working on an ODS and not an Infocube?
2) What can I do to reduce its execution time, since it lasts several minutes?

I get a notice that says a security and stability update is recommended for Fire Fox 3.6.15. When I click to update a bar appears showing attempt to contact but nothing ever updates.
Sometimes the updater gets in a funny state - Go to http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ and download the full installer. Close Firefox and run the installer

The new ibook app and ibook update is designed for iPhone 5 operating system. When my iPhone4 recently updated the ibook app, it created many problems using the ibook to download and read my books. Can I get the previous ibook app back on my phone.
Check your trash can on the desktop. The old version is automatically moved to the trashcan. You should be able to move it from the trashcan back to the Apps folder within the iTunes folder. The update that was pushed out was for iBooks to work with iOS 7 not iPhone 5. iOS 7 was released today.

Palm User and Potential BlackBerry User Looking for Info
I have long been a Palm PDA user and combined that with a 'regular' cell phone. For a variety of reasons, I am considering a Blackberry Pearl. I have found it surprisingly difficult to find good information to help me make the decision and I am hoping for some feedback here.
1 - How difficult is it to transfer my Palm data to the BlackBerry? In particular, will my extensive collection of Memos on my Palm transfer and be usable in the BlackBerry? Will all notes, included in my Palm address book, transfer to my BlackBerry contacts?
2 - Does the BlackBerry desktop software function like the Palm Desktop? Am I able to view and enter information at a desktop PC via the BlackBerry desktop software?
3 - Can I use the BlackBerry data in other applications? For instance, can my BlackBerry contacts be used to create mailing lists in Word or Excel?
4 - What does the BlackBerry allow me to do with data? Can I customize calendar entries with colors or categories? Do I have the ability to format text using color, bolding, underlining, etc.?
5 - Can I download and substitute third party apps for the BlackBerry apps, the way I can in Palm?
6 - My email client is Outlook, but my email service is provided by Google Apps. Any glitches there?
7 - Will BlackBerry sync to Outlook on my desktop or to Google Apps? Or is it my choice?
8 - What frustrations may I encounter? In other words, what does the Palm do (or do better) that the BlackBerry does not (or does not do well)?
9 - How will my expectations be exceeded? What does BlackBerrry do (or do better) that Palm does not (or does not do well)?

Mitch1: Not difficult, there is a Device Switch Wizard availible in the Dektop Program for BlackBerrys.
2: No, the BlackBerry Desktop Software does not function like the Palm Desktop. You can sync it with Outlook or Lotus.
3: I am not sure what you mean by that. But you can sync the contacts to your desktop also in a .csv file and create mailing lists through that.
4: The BlackBerry calendar is different then the Palm's. It does not allow you to customize calendar entries with colors. But there are 3rd Party Calendars availible. The well known Palm-Calendar called Agendus will apparently soon be availible for BlackBerry.
5: Yes, 3rd party apps are on the rise at the moment; not yet as many as for Palm but there are many utilities and applications availible that improve the OS.
6: Google Mail also works with BlackBerry.
7: Choice
8: Palm has a better built in calendar; no doubt about that. Some functions are missing in the BlackBerry OS but for most of them there are utilities availible for download (for $). Overall I would definitely recommend the BlackBerry devices. I changed from a Treo 680 in December and did not regret it at all! You always have to get used to new devices but with the BlackBerry it is very easy to get used to!
9: Push eMail, better Browser, faster System, more Filespace, newer OS, nicer UI, easier to handle with the navigation Ball, no Touchscreen that can break, better built, newer hardware... there are many things, buy one try it!

COMMIT and PERFORMANCE and BAPI UPDATE
When looping through about 10 000 documents it goes initially quite fast but in the end it is very slow. Is it a basis problem?
Initially it takes about 0,5 sec and in the end each document update takes about 20 sec. In total about 15 hours!
My basis consultant says I should do a commit as seldom as possible. But I want to do it after each document (=a LUW?). I could add a counter and do a commit each 100:th document, but I do not like it.

Performance and configuration Adobe LiveCyce Designer for SAP

I have a question for LiveCycle Designer for SAP. If the SAP system, a very large amount of data to the LiveCycle Designer is passed (eg data from over 1000 pages about 40,000 lines) then it comes to the following exception: com.adobe.ProcessingException: com.adobe.ads.exception.TransientException: A problem was encountered with the results: render Result array is null .; [Error Log file "2014.11.14.145246SAFPFILE1.pdf" written to F: \ usr \ sap \ R44 \ SYS \ global \\ Adobe Document
For smaller amounts of data from SAP, it goes without problems.
Does anyone know the settings in SAP or by Adobe LiveCyle designer?
Is there such a thing as a limitation of number of rows? Or is there a limit on the size of the transferred data from SAP?
What would be a possible solution?Did you raise this SAP via an OSS message?

My Extensions tab shows 1Password for FireFox3 & FireFox4& Add-on Compatibility Reporter, but no 1Password for FireFox5.

I'd really rather use FireFox than Safari, but if it's a no go, (no compatibility, no rool-back) I'll be forced to dump FireFOx and use Safari (only my choice of last resort.)

Horrible performance and millions of rows to compress.
Hello. I wrote a script to compress a table that's readings from a computer terminal. I read the original table then insert a row in a new table for the beginning of a new reading and then update a column for the and end time and amount of the duplicate readings. The compression is working fine but as I'm testing and increasing the rows the longer it is taking to run. There are 11,000,000 rows to compress and it's hanging after I try and do anything over 20,000. I don't know if it's hanging or taking a long time to start. I put in checks to see when it's running and committing and when I have a small amount of records it takes a minute then starts and run through fast. When I add a more records it just site there.
Any suggestions?

Manually and quickly updating smart playlists with 'Live Updating' off?
Hi,
I have a quite large music library (13,000 songs) and use a multitude of nested smart playlists that change often because I don't want to listen to the same song every day and I want to listen to good songs more often than bad songs. I'm also splitting up by genre, because not all my friends appreciate all of my musical tastes, and I myself am not always in the mood for every genre.
The consequence of this is that from time to time, iTunes stutters when playing a new song, presumably because it's updating all the smart playlists when the previous song ended.
Now, I had hoped that turning 'Live Updating' off would cause iTunes to update the smart playlists at startup instead of updating continuously. However, it turns out that though the performance improved dramatically, turning off 'Live Updating' caused the smart playlists to never update. Obviously I don't want that, since that means all my smart playlists are static.
Is there a way to have both good performance and easy updating of the playlists? There are a bit too many playlists to manually update very day by forcing iTunes to update the playlist.
An 'Update all smart playlists now' button or a 'Update all smart playlists at startup' feature would be nice...
Any hints, tips, help, suggestions?

Athlon64 3800+ 2GB RAM Windows XP iPod Nano 4GB BlackUsing the SDK, you (well, I) would do something like this:
1. Get a list of all the playlists in the iTunes Library.
2. For each playlist, test if playlist is a Smart playlist (Playlist->Smart() returns a boolean)
2a. If it is a smart playlist, select it by setting a property value for the BrowserWindow object (basically BrowserWindow->SelectedPlaylist(playlist object)) (for example perl code, see http://groups.google.com/group/comp.lang.perl.misc/browse_thread/thread/1248563d 743795d8/be1a88fc6eeab0e4?lnk=gst&q=itunesperlselectedplaylist&rnum=1#be1a88fc6eeab0e4)
2b. Using keystrokes (Alt-F,G), select "File..Get Info". Then keystroke Alt-U to toggle live updating, then Enter to click OK.
2c. Repeat above, which should toggle live updating off again. (unfortunately there is no way to be sure whether the starting state was off or on -- I'm assuming it will always be off) -
Succession Planning 3.0 - Perf and Potential icon mapping to custom scale

We have our own scale ID for Performance and Potential.
I had changed the scale ID in extrainfo.xml to our scale ID.
Now, how do I map the icon to our scale value?
Our scale has only 3 ratings, 1 being lowest and 3 being highest.
Whereas, in Nakisa, there are 5 ratings.
I need to map my scale value 1 to nakisa 1, 2 to nakisa 3, and 3 to nakisa 5.
How can I do this?

In the "listingconfiguration" folder of "AppResources", there is a file called "DirectoryListing1_With_NineBox.xml" which contains a section called "<imagemapgroups>" which maps the performance and potential values to a corresponding image (GIF) file. I believe this is what you need to review:

ITunes and iPod updater won't recognize iPod
I'm running Windows XP and it shows the iPod is there but it won't show up in iTunes and iPod updater after 'initializing' for a good 5-10 minutes says either 'could not recognize the iPod' or if it does let me restore give the 'Firmware update failure. Diskwrite error.' I have the latest iTunes and iPod update and went through all the steps in the 'Windows recognizes iPod but iTunes does not' Troubleshooting help section. All these problems started when I tried to update with the new iPod updater software and got an error, everything worked fine before. I have also tried using a friends USB cable the problem is obviously in the Nano itself. Is there any way to safely format without using the iPod updater? or what should I try doing next?
Also it seems like when the nano isn't plugged into a power source it drains the battery, with nothing showing on the screen because it always starts charging when I hook it up to the computer even though it was fully charge before.

I too am having this exact same problem. My iPod nano was working perfectly until this "latest update" Since I installed that update my itunes and my ipod updater will NOT recognize my iPod. I am getting all the same error messages as you.
I have done EVERYTHING recommeded in the support pages. Reinstall, uninstall, install, reboot I've done it all a hundred times. I have over 5 pages of support documents I printed up and I followed them to the T. I have 10 different USB ports including 3 2.0 USB ports. My windows recognizes the iPod instantly, but the updater will not.
I 'm starting to think it's a problem with the update software.
Please, if anybody has any advice other than "www.apple.com/support/ipod" please post something. I have had my Nano since October and never had a problem with it and I really, really miss it right now.

Another thing you can try is to be connected to the internet. Click on the audio controller in the device manager. Click on the Driver tab. Click on Update Driver and select the automatic search.
Sometimes W7 will pull down a driver from the Windows Update site.
If the above 2 suggestions don't work, try this driver which seems to be the same as the Vista one, but for Windows 7.
