Performance configuration PRD system SCM 5.1 Solaris 10

Hi!
I am trying to configure some performance parameters on a PRD system that is running under a Solaris 10 machine. This system have 40CPU and 40GB RAM. SAP system = SAP SCM 5.10
I have given the sap system 15 GB and Oracle 20GB and OS = 5GB
I am not sure which SAP instance parameters that I should change.
The system has for the moment mostly default instance parameters values becuse it is newly installed, the only parameters that I have changed is:
em/initial_size_mb = 15GB
PHYS_MEMSIZE = 4096
Wp Dialog = 50
Wp btc = 15
wp eng = 1
wp vb = 6
wp vb 1 = 2
wp sp = 4
I have read about ZERO MM but I have not found anything for UNIX/SOLARIS and I cannot find the parameter
"es/implementation " . IS it a default value in the SAP Kernel , and can you use  ZERO MM for UNIX?
OK, to my question which instance parameters should I change ? Or should I have the default values and change afterwards?
Thx for the Help

Yes, it seems that you have right about the CPU specification.
THis is the utput from /usr/sbin/psrinfo -v :

  • Error checking transport group configuration in System BQS

    Hi Everyone,
I made a client export from Production to Quality. It went successfully,, I noted the requests numbers and transported them from PRD to Quality, but while transporting there was a tp error(which i did not note), next i went to the quality import queue and saw all the 3 requests had come. But when i click the adjust queue icon im getting the following error message "Error checking transport group configuration in System BQS" .  Afterwards i tried to delete the requests from quality to retransport  from production but still im not able to delete those requests from quality. Can anyone help me solve this.
    Regards,
    Rahul

    Hello Rahul,
    regarding the error message:
"Error checking transport group configuration in system"
It's mostly related to the TMSADM RFC destination. Kindly follow the below mention steps:
    1. Logon to client 000 with user DDIC.
    2. STMS   > System   > Overview   > Select the system in which you are logged in   > Click on the menu says EXTRAS   > Generate RFC Destinations
Perform the above steps in all the systems configure in your TMS. This should resolve the issue.
    Best regards,

    Hi Khushi,
According to your description, your snapshot replication job fails and you come across the error related to TCP Provider. Based on my research, the issue could occur as the following two situations.
    1. OS runs out of memory for TCP buffers. When people use the two switch: the /PAE switch in the c:\boot.ini file and the /3gb switch in the boot.ini file. If the applications require many OS resources, such as by opening many TCP connections, this can cause
the OS to run out of memory for resources like TCP buffers.
2.OS runs out of available TCP “ephemeral” ports. When the client machine is opening many TCP connections and is running Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or any earlier version of Windows, it may run out of TCP “ephemeral” ports.
To work around the issue, please follow the two solutions as below.
1.Remove the /3gb switch from c:\boot.ini. The root problem in this case is memory pressure on the OS, so removing the /3gb switch will give more memory to the OS and will alleviate this problem.
2.Make more ephemeral ports available following the steps in the article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/196271
For more information about the process, please refer to the article:

  • PI 7.1 CTS+ - Manually deleted object in PRD system

    Hello,
We have PI 7.1 with CTS+ configured. However, there was a condition that an object was deleted manually in PRD system not via CTS+. After this all the transports that were connected to that object and transported to PRD system were imported successfully but ! the changes weren't set in PRD. That means, the CHR transported to PRD but the changes are not applied.
Any idea how t solve this problem ?
    Please advice,
    Dimitry

    Hi Dimitry,
please check if the XI object you're trying to import have a lower version in PRD than in DEV/QAS.
In the opposite way if the XI object has a more recent version in PRD you'll not be able to update the object, since for the sistem the version you're trying to import is an old one.
    Hope this help

  • Different Recipients of Alerts in DEV and PRD Systems.

    Dear All
I wanted to know if it is possible to configure different set of recipients for an alert category in XI DEV and XI PRD systems.
For example i have two groups "Group A" and "Group B" which should recieve alert mails. For this ,
we can create 2 different roles in XI  DEV  i.e. "Role_A" and "Role_B" and assign user id's to these roles  and then assign these roles to Alert Category using the "Recipients Via User Roles" option .This is done in XI DEV system.
My question is it possible that alert mails are just sent to "Role_B" in the XI PRD system. (not to ROLE_A). As ideally we would be transporting the alert categories from DEV> QAS> PRD can we have different recipients configurations in DEV and PRD.
    Please suggest.
    regards
    Nilesh.

    Hi Nilesh,
Yes it is possible, Just change the receipent of alert category on PRD system (you can change receipent anytime you want).

  • User making direct changes to PRD system

    My enviroment is ERP 6 ABAP /Oracle 10G/Solaris 10
Some of my superusers are fond of making direct changes to PRD (as opposed to DEV & then transport via the landscape) though changes in  PRD system  have been restricted through  client change options SCC4 & system change option SE06
I suspect the said users have ROLE with powerful authorizations that they ought not to have.
Kindy advice what I should look for the users roles or how I can go about to harden PRD system aganist direct changes
    Thanks
Edited by: Andale J on Sep 29, 2010 12:10 PM

    Hi BAIGSA
Creation of roles is down to the security policy already in place unless you are lucky enough to be in at the beginning and can define how all roles are to be built in future.
Mostly, you arrive at a client's site and have to adapt to their authorisation concept.
You may find that function (module based) roles are inplace or that job roles (either multiple singles assigned directly or via composites or a one role does all) has been set up.
Remediation of module based roles can be a really pain if they were built with too many transactions included - user group/job roles are far easier to remediate but this depends on the policies in place - inactive objects etc)
I haven't enough information to understand what the changes are that have been made in prod to help - you need to review those changes and formulate a strategy which the business agrees to to resolve.
    Kind regards
    David

  • How to configure Test System

    Hello Guys,
I want to some guidelines to install and configure the SAP NWCE as Test System. Any link or documentation would be encouraged.
    Regards,
    Naeem

    Hi Naeem,
The SCAfiles for the ESR comes along with the CE package, you need to deploy those SCA files on NWDS in order to access ESR which is a part of the CE installation process, though I undestand your point that it is not required unless you need ESR/SR. The NWDS accesses ESR and SR to deploy the EAR files for the service Interfaces created on ESR/SR on the Java server from where the services would be accessed in run time. I think you don't need the ESR/SR in the test system unless it would be used by the PI system as well (if you have one in your landscape), as NWDS accesses the ESR once to get the service interface and then deploy it on Java server. and the deploed EAR files can be transported to the Test environment. having said that, you should have ESR/SR in  your landscape as you would like the DEV, QA, PRD systems in sync.
On your other question, NWDS accesses the ESR/SR to get the service interfaces and create ear files for the interfaces and deploy them on the Java server and used at runtime.
    Hope it helps.

  • Patching on PRD system and thereafter moving the logs to DR ?

Patching on PRD system and thereafter moving the logs to DR, will the patches take effect in DR ?
We have patched our PRD system to the latest APPL patch levels, we have a DR system in place, the link for which was disabled before we started our patching process. The DR system was successfully patched before taking up the activity on PRD.
The link between the PRD and DR is still not restored.
Now, that our PRD system is on the latest patch levels, my idea is restoring a full offline database backup of PRD on the DR system should make the DR system exactly identical to the PRD and the link between the two restored to allow for dynamic syncing thereafter.
Is my above view correct ?
Moreover, from my understanding, Patches are a bunch of SAP notes, SAP notes in-turn are basically code corrections for some objects, which ultimately means some entries are either written or deleted from database tables. My colleagues are of the view that instead of patching the DR server separately we could have actually restored the link and transferred the logs to the DR and the patches should have taken effect in the DR SERVER, is this alright ?
From my past experience I am aware that once you restore an offline database backup onto any system, the patch level in the target system would become similar to the source system(the system whose offline backup is actually being restored).
Thereby request the experts on the forum to give their views on the above.
    Many Thanks in advance

when we take up any patching activity, can we just do it on the PRD and then move on the logs to the DR and the DR should also be on the same patch levels as PRD. ?
Yes, its a normal patching process for Primary-->Secondary setups.
You have to apply the application patches only on Production, then sync process takes care on DR (No need to apply the pathces here, infact you don't need to touch your exisiting DR system).
As a best practice - Just perform a Quality refresh before performing patching activity, then you can perform your test Patching/Upgrade activity in your Quality system itself (Not on DR).

  • Trnsporting of iboun and outbound Idoc interface to QA and PRD systems

    Hi,
We have successfully completes the developement of our File to/From Idoc scenarios on Dev environment. Can some tell me how can I transport these to QA and PRD systems? How about the WE21 BD54(On Bus Sys) IDX1 and IDX2 configurations transports? Do we need to do them searately on each of the systems? Or they are transfereable too?
    Thanks.
    Sri.

There are two ways to Transport XI objects-
    1) File Import/Export -- Simple and easy.
    2) CMS
CMS is somewhat standard way to do. Becuase you can track the objects. But for this you need to install the CMS separately.
just go thru these quick links-

Yes. You can do them separately in individual system.
    2. BD54 -- Logical system. You can create in individual system or you can transport the table having  logical system entry i.e. TBDLS and TBDLST.
    Hope this will help.

    Hi Siva,
    Logon to DEV 000 > STMS >
Define the domain controller System DEV or PRD.
Add PRD system into transport domain
Overview Systems > Create > External System
Specify Host name & SID Other parameters of the PRD. DEV will send the request to PRD system to accept the request from the DEV to add into the domain. Logon to the PRD go to STMS accept the request. In DEV system Approve the same.
Now system are in domain. DEV system STMS > Extras Distribute and Activate the configuration. There you have to specify that 2 Systems are in landscape. Specify the DEV as Development  System. PRD as Production System. mention that automatically configure the transport route and distribute.
Transport route Between DEV -> PRD.
While Doing Transportation please follow my earlier reply like:
Custmozing:- Release from DEV 100 and import into DEV 300 (Quality client) and Finally import into PRD with approval.
Workbench:- Release from DEV and import into PRD

  • Change program on prd system

I want do NOT allow a sap user to  change / create ABAP programs on PRD system, without taking his sscr key. How do I do?

    Thanks for your help.
I looked in scc4 and found the following  configuration:
Change and transports for client-specific objects:
                            "automatic recording of changes"
    Cross-client changes:
"No changes to cross-client Customizing objects"
Protection: client copier and comparation tool:
                           "protection level 0"
    catt and ecatt restrictions:
                          "ecatt and catt not allowed"
I want to do the following configuration:
Change and transports for client-specific objects:
                          no changes allowed
    Cross-client changes:
no changes to repositoru and cross-lient customizing obj
Protection: client copier and comparation tool:
                        protection level1 : No overwriting
    catt and ecatt restrictions:
                       eCATT and CATT not allowed
Do you think that would solve the problem that if I do this configuration ?
You think other problems occur if this configuration would make?
    Thanks for help

  • Solman Early watch report not generating PRD system report.

    Hello All,
I have issues related to Earlywatch Report. We have configured EWA for all our 3 systems in Landscape (DVM, QVM, PRD), The reports generate on weekly basis. But I noticed that EWA report in Solman is not getting generated for PRD systems. SDCC was not active so I activated that. Next to PRD it gives red flag stating Session Data Overdue error.
I went to PRD SDCCN Tcode, there I created 'Refresh Session' - it failed with following error.
Refresh of session overview failed from destination SM_SOLCLNT300_BACK
    Sessions cannot be refreshed from destination SM_SOLCLNT300_BACK ( SOL , 0020270483 )
Password logon no longer possible - too many failed attempts
error reading function module interface DSWP_API_SESSIONLIST_GET from SM_SOLCLNT300_BACK
Refresh of session overview started from destination SM_SOLCLNT300_BACK
What user is it trying to refer ???? If its referring SM_SOLCLNT300_BACK user then it has its own default password which I dont know.
The report does get generated in SAP Marketplace Inbox. In SDCC we have check mark next to Solman + SAP for report generation for PRD system,
Is it reports get generated in Solman OR SAP not BOTH destination ?????.
The last 2 reports (3rd Dec & 26 Nov) of PRD got generated in Solman but otherwise it always has Red Flag next to it stating "Data for this session is overdue"
I did the connection test & authorization test (Tcode SDCC) in PRD & they were successful.
Kindly suggest how should I resolve this issue.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I have tried all possible steps..I checked all the RFC destinations of all the systems (DVM, QVM, PRD, SOL) & they are working fine, some had issues with passwords & user locked...but then I corrected those errors.
    Tests were successful as below.
    In PRD for SDCC_OSS
RFC destination SDCC_OSS is functional (ping and logon authorization check done)
RFC destination SDCC_OSS has authorization for all needed function groups
    Solman – PRD
RFC destination SM_SOLCLNT300_BACK is functional (ping and logon authorization check done)
RFC destination SM_SOLCLNT300_BACK has authorization for all needed function groups
But still get error message if I create Refresh Session.
Error transferring session data to SM_SOLCLNT300_BACK
Password logon no longer possible - too many failed attempts
transfer aborted: communication failure in BDL_START_OF_SESSION_DOWNLOAD

    function module not found
    SAPWL_TCODE_AGGREG_MONTH_T : funcname /SDF/RBE_OBJ_USAGE_MCST , module 000097
I believe becoz of this I am getting the Raise Exception error due to which 3 jobs are getting cancelled which are related to EWA (I have posted query for the dump issue seperately).
I am not understanding why am I getting those cancelled jobs daily when EWA reports run weekly (Mon).
    Please suggest.
