Performance - Internet based solution

Hello All,
We are evaluating SGD vs. NoMachine. Although the overall features of SGD, seamless access to applications - Internet based, is to be applauded, the overall interactive screen updates and general performance appears to be far less than NoMachine. NoMachine provides almost instantaneous screen updates although lacks ease of use/seamless capabilities, application publishing and many other features generic to SGD.
We are evaluating both solutions, (Nomachine and SGD), solutions on a X2100 running Solaris 10, Fedora and many other operating systems. From an internet delivery of applications perspective it appears we will go with NoMachine and work the seamless issues - yes there are many. The overall foundation of screen interaction performance appears to side with NoMachine.
If anyone has a solution to SGD screen display - perceived performance issues, your input is very much appreciated.

SGD vs. NoMachine - why use either or any? SGD is very strong in the ability to deliver applications and typical functional "behind firewall" perceptive desktop capabilities although interactive screen updates could be diagnosed as less than desirable, at times. NoMachine although providing near "local" performance, external and internal to firewalls, based on screen interaction, lacks many of the distant attachment and basic administration capabilities of SGD.
If one is looking to provide external firewall services, (with either product) - it just may at best to look elsewhere based on extensive testing and documented support requirements.

  • Internet based quotation

    Dear All
In MM after floating RFQ using ME41 user have to enter the quotation details manually using T code me47.
The quotation details are available to the user either in hard copy, email or phone from the vendor.
Can it be possible to design a internet based solution in SAP which provide vendor a platform to enter the quotation details which are automatically trasfered/ fetch in R/3 .
Please share some example with details if it has been implemented.
    Regards
    Rahul

    Dear,
If no SRM its not difficult. You are saying about vendor access our RFQ and update the prices which processed as Quotation.
    And also check: Sending RFQ?

On my iPhone 4, people cant hear me when I make and / or receive normal (GSM) phone calls. But when I make/receive calls using internet-based / native apps like viber or skype, people can hear me just fine. I have tried recording my voice using voice memos - this works. And have already tried different SIM cards but the problem persists.
I have taken my phone to an authorized Apple service center, where they restored my phone to factory settings, but still facing the same issue. They service center directed me to Apple Customer Care Hotline, where I have now spent 3+ hours explaining my issue and yet no one can resolve it. The easy answer if to replace the phone - and since it is out of warranty, I am expected to pay for it.
Additionally, the customer service has been so rude and confrontational that it has completely changed my view of Apple and its customer focus. I am a disappointed and angry customer today - people would be surprised to hear just how rude customer service was including making statements such as "Apple doesnt make infallible products, that's why warranty is needed for our products" and that "every product undergoes a problem at some stage, so do ours!" There goes whatever confidence I had...
My concern is simple - if no one at Apple and / or its CS hotline is able to address my issue comprhensively and keep telling me that they have never encountered a precedent before, then with what right can they expect me to pay for a replacement?! I am NOT here to fund Apple's research into their product faults and manufacturing.
And even though a customer is out of warranty, is it too much to expect an Apple product to work well for at least a 'reasonable' period of time. My phone is less than 18 months old and has been facing this issue for the past 2 months - surely the longevity of Apple products is more than 18 months!
Just a sad sad day for an Apple customer, compounded by unjustifiably rude and aggressive staff. And still no resolution to my problem.

I am having the same issue - with my last 2 iPhone 4's. My first handset each time I was on a call wether it was up to my ear or on loud speaker, the call would automatically mute even though the mute button wouldn't show up as highlighted. Pressing the mute button on and off during the call doesn't fix it either. I rang Apple and asked what some of their trouble shooting solutions were. I got told that it might be a software issue and to install the latest software update. This failed. I then got told to uninstall the software on the phone and do a complete restore. This also failed. After trying the troubleshooting suggestions, I took the phone into my provider and they sent me out a new phone within a week under warranty claiming it was a hardware issue and probably just a "glitch" with that particular phone. This was not the case....
After receiving my second iPhone 4, I was hopeful that it would work. For the first couple of days, making/receiving calls was not an issue. Until after about a week, the same problem started again. In one instance I had to hang up and call back 4 times and the call would still automatically mute after about 5 seconds. Also on the second handset, the main camera located on the back of the phone has red and blue lines running through it and can't take a decent picture. So back to the store I go to get another replacement - Again.
For a phone that is rated highly and as a keen Apple product purchaser, I am a bit disappointed with the experience I have had with the iPhone 4. Let's hope they find a fix sometime soon because this is becoming a bit beyond a joke.....!!

  • Need help with Internet Based Management

I work at a small university that just deployed SCCM 2012 R2 recently.  We are currently using it on our intranet in HTTP mode.  We would like to setup internet based management so that we can start managing and deploying software update to laptops
that wander off campus.  At the moment we have a primary site server that manages all of our clients.  It's my understanding that these are our options:
Use some type of reverse proxy on a DMZ that will forward requests to our internal primary site server.
Setup a second server on a DMZ that will serve as a management and distribution point.  Since there is a requirement to have this DMZ server joined to a domain, we would poke holes in the firewall so this server can communicate with the primary site
server and so it can be joined to our internal domain controller (obviously bad security practice)
Setup a second server on a DMZ that will serve as a management and distribution point.  Setup a domain controller in the DMZ unrelated to our internal domain, so the SCCM server can be joined to a domain.  Poke holes in the firewall so this server
can only communicate with the SQL server on the internal primary site server (more secure than option 2).
Setup a DirectAccess server in the DMZ and have clients use DirectAccess to access the internal primary site SCCM server.
Have I covered the main options here?  I would love to implement option 4, but not all of my clients are using Windows 7 Enterprise.  A lot of my clients are still on Windows 7 Pro.  We are no longer deploying the pro version, but we are stuck
with the current ones for awhile.  The other issue is that we also have some Mac OS X clients that need to be managed as well.  Unfortunately, I have to eliminate this option for now.  Would the recommended solution be to use option 3 seeing
that option 2 seems very insecure?  This whole internet based management seems very confusing to me.  If anyone has any suggestions or can point me to a good step-by-step guide that would be awesome.  Thanks...

It all depends on the (security) requirements. In most cases it indeed comes down to either scenario 3, or 4.
For some more information about the configuration see:
    http://www.petervanderwoude.nl/post/five-key-configuration-steps-for-implementing-internet-based-clients-in-configmgr-2012/;

Some question about option 3.  Is the domain controller in the DMZ just a dummy one?  In other words,
does it just exist because of the requirement that a site server must be a member of a domain?  Are there any trust relationships between the DMZ domain and the internal domain?  Also what are the ramifications of joining the DMZ site server to the
internal domain?  My boss want to cut back on the number of virtual machines to spin up.  Would installing the DMZ site server and domain controller on the same virtual machine be an acceptable compromise?

  • Internet Based Client Management Design Question

    Hi,
I read many articles and many forum posts about IBCM design possibilities. I want to make sure I am on the right path, so I would like to mention about what I have currently in my environment and how I will change it. Please let me know if something is wrong
    with my plannings for IBCM.
Currently I have one SCCM2012 R2 primary site server and one database server. We dont have
public key infrastructure at the moment , so communication is via HTTP. We dont have DMZ either. I would like to make my internal SCCM site server reachable from intranet and internet
without installing any other site server or MP,DP,SUP point. The article below says that is possible. I will implement the scenario1 in that article.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2012/05/25/system-center-2012-configuration-manager-r-i-p-native-mode.aspx
    So, I guess
    1.I need to create
    public key infrastructure.
2.Public DNS registration for site server's internet FQDN
3.Firewall Settings from internet to site server
After those 3 steps, my client will connect from intranet when they are in the office and they will also be able to connect from internet when they are outside of our network. Can you please verify whether this planning is correct or not? If you know any
step by step IBCM implementation article that I can use , can you please give me the link?
    Yavuz Selim Atmaca

Very high level those are indeed the right steps at this moment. Just keep in mind that this definitely is not the most secure solution.
I created a blog post about some important configuration steps:
    http://www.petervanderwoude.nl/post/five-key-configuration-steps-for-implementing-internet-based-clients-in-configmgr-2012/
On a side-note, if your going to build a PKI anyway, you might want to think about DirectAccess instead of Internet clients.

  • Internet Based client support with Existing PKI Environment

    Hi Team,
I have a question.... My Environment is on SCCM 2007 environment and there is a requirement which has come-up to support internet based clients.
My Hierarchy is : ( All in Mixed Mode )
    1 Central
    2 Primary
    5 Secondary under each Primary
Now to support Internet based client this is what I have proposed. To add another Primary on LAN for Native Mode and  its Site System server in DMZ with MP, DP and SUP role. Only This site system server would be internet facing to support clients.
Now to support internet based clients... I would have to move my Central from Mixed to Native mode and then New Primary server to Native mode. Please let me know if you agree with this design or you suggest another one.
Now my company has already existing PKI environment setup on non-windows platform. I'm aware of the fact that SCCM 2007 would support version 3 of the x.509 certificate format. When I reached the PKI team they mentioned that they only sign the certificates
and do not issue one.. They said that your application / server should generate the certificate which I can send them and they sign.
Now I'm not able to understand how this would happen. As per my understanding SCCM cannot generate the certificate for PKI team to sign.
From OS perspective, via IIS we can get the certificate generated, but not sure if that is the right was to do that.
Please suggest how can I get these certificates generated for my SCCM environment and client machines to use.
    Thanks,
    Sam

First, you really should look at moving to ConfigMgr 2012 to make your life easier and simplify this scenario quite a bit.
As for certs, you need more than an IIS cert, you need a unique cert for each and every managed device that could communicate via the Internet. If your PKI team cannot accommodate this, then their PKI solution is feeble and weak and you should consider implementing
    a Microsoft PKI.
Also, it's incorrect to say that a PKI only signs certs, they do create and issue certs; these are based upon a cert request you give them which effectively contains some meta-data and the public key that will be included in the cert that they
create, sign, and issue (honestly, not trying to throw stones, but if they truly believe that's what a PKI does, then you're never going to get what you need from them because they don't even know what they do). This is impractical to do for every managed
    client though.
There is also a special cert type called a document signing cert that must be issued that contains a non-standard subject.
Ultimately, the PKI must be able to issue certificates based on the requirements listed at
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680733.aspx and of course you need a method to get those certs to both the site systems hosting the roles, the site server, and the managed clients.
If they can't give you this (which at the very least they think they can't based on your comments), then no, you won't be able to use this in-place PKI.

  • Internet based applications not working

I was on the safari and all of a sudden it quit. A message popped up and said subpub agent quit unexpectedly. I'm assuming that this is the reason why every time I open safari or skype or mail, that it tries to load, quits, then says "insert application here" quit unexpectedly, would you like to report to apple, blah blah. The odd thing is that I tried to use safari and these other internet based applications on my guest account and it worked fine!! Any ideas as to what's wrong? Is there anything I can do or should I just bring it in to an Apple store?
    Thanks for any feedback!

    Hi,
Try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file.
Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. If it doesn't crash, move that .plist file to the Trash, if it crashes again, just move the file back to the Preferences folder.
The odd thing is that I tried to use safari and these other internet based applications on my guest account and it worked fine!!
That's good. Then it could be a third party Safari add on in your user account that's causing Safari to crash. Help here for when Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
If you still need help, if Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash information.
Now copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply here. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.

  • Performing form based authentication with entities

    Hey everyone,
Im in a major dilemma.Im trying to perform form-based authentication using entities.I have created the entity class from the database, and I used a SLSB to access the bean method via JNDI(when I tried using dependency injection, there was an exception).I also cannot use hibernate as a persistent provider.I used toplink since it is the default in netbeans 5.5.1 and it did not raise any issues. But then,I noticed that toplink is most compatible with the oracle application server, and I use sun java system application server 9.1.I have not been able to successfully perform the authentication.
here's the code:note, there are still bugs as ive been going back and forth trying to find a solution and also because Ive been working with preexisting code.

  • Queries regarding Internet Based Client Management (IBCM) 2012 R2

    Hi All,
I am trying to work with IBCM, but I have few queries for which I am not able to get any proper Information from Internet. I would be really Thankful if you all can help with your advice.
    1) I will need to publish host record Internet FQDN of the Site system server, which will point to Public IP on Public DNS.
    - So If I NAT the public IP to Local SCCM server IP on firewall, will that work, or I will have to give a different Private IP?
    2) Let say I have Few workgroup machine which will be on Internet and they wont even come to office network, so in this scenario, how should I proceed.
    a. Will I be able to get Remote session of the user?
    b. Can I install SCCM client manually over the internet? if yes then what all information I will need to provide while client installation.
    c. If I use Public wild card certificate on the server, do I need to purchase Client certificate as well?
    d. If I use Internal CA certificate on the server, then I will have to install Client certificate manually on all the work group machine, I am right? can Public Certificate act as an alternative?
    e. Any other specific Port apart from 443 that need to open on firewall?
    3) Is it necessary to put the internet facing Site system server in DMZ or it is OK to use the same Site System server for Intranet and internet.
    4) Currently I have a Site System fully functional, and set to HTTP & HTTPS communication setting, For IBCM I will be moving MP and DP from HTTP to HTTPS, I want to know will there be any issue, or any other aspect that I need to take care before performing
    these steps.
    5) Currently My OS deployment, App Deployement & Software Update is working perfectly, Moving MP and DP to Https, will that effect any of the current functionality, please advise.
    Thanking in advance,
    Regards,
    Ritesh
Thanks & Regards, Ritesh Hegde, Exchange,BPOS, FOPE, O365.

    1. Yes, the device performing the NAT will forward the traffic to the private IP of the site system. That's the whole point of NAT assuming you've configured it correctly and allowed the traffic to pass.
2a. No, remote Control does not work for Internet based clients.
2b. What are your expectations and what does "manually over the Internet mean"? If you are talking about client push, then technically, yes its possible, although in reality it won't work because almost everything connected on the Internet is behind
its own NAT and firewalls that won't allow the traffic to reach the destination. Additionally, if these clients are to be Internet only (which workgroup machine must be), then they must be installed with the CCMALWAYSINF property set to true which is only
done when manually installing the client on the system by directly initiating ccmsetup.
2c. The certs on the clients have nothing to do with cert on the servers. All clients connecting via IBCM require their own, unique client auth cert. If you plan on purchasing these, it will get real expensive, real quick and of course remember that this
    is a recurring cost.
2d. How else would you install any certificate? They can't magically appear on the systems particularly since they are workgroup systems.
2e. 8531 for WSUS and 10123 for client notification.
    3. Using the same internal site system is technically fine, but I doubt your security folks would like that idea.
    4. Site Systems cannot be set to both HTTPS and HTTP. They can only be set to one or the other. Your site can accept both, but the site systems cannot. If you convert your existing/only MP and DP to HTTPS, then *all* of your clients will need their own unique
    client auth certs.
    5. Only if you don't configure things properly.

  • SCCM Client Agent Deployment - Internet based client scenario

    Hi There,
I need to deploy SCCM 2012 client agent and certificate to the machines not connected to the corporate LAN. I know that SCCM agent and certificate needs to be installed manually on them ( or via Group Policy ).... but here I'm talking about 2000 internet

Can you please let me know the enterprise level best practice to capture those 2000 internet based machines.
50% of these machines may not come on corporate network for very long time....so cannot capture them by Group Policy... How to capture those machines.... Has anyone worked on a solution to create some kind of portal etc...whose link we can provide to the
users via email for them to just click and that installs both SCCM client agent and certificate....just a thought.

    Sam

There is no best practice as that would imply that every organization is the same and should do it the same way.
Ultimately, this challenge is unique to your organization -- not the specific ConfigMgr details, but how best to get it done within the resources and security posture of your organization.
If your users are local admins and you have a VPN solution, then you can potentially just send them batch files to run (that install a cert and install the client agent) when they are connected via VPN. You could potentially expose both via an HTTP download
and the CA web issuance pages also or using certutil (assuming the user has local admin permissions again). There simply are too many variables that are unique and specific to your environment to be able to describe any sort of complete solution.
Ultimately, it comes down to two parts, neither of which is overly complicated (or magic):
    1. Request and install client auth certificate.
      - Must be done as local admin
      - Can be automated using certutil and PowerShell
    2. Install ConfigMgr client agent
      - Must be done as local admin
      - Must be initiated by running ccmsetup (with appropriate switches and properties)
      - Must have access to rest of client setup files either locally, via the Internet DP, or Internet MP
      - Must be able to communicate with MP
I have seen folks publish scripts for this and web pages even so a little web searching may turn one of these up.

though I have sufficent memory space, and other internet based functions are running...

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
However, since it works with other networks that really suggests a problem with your network.

  • Performance operations based on Column values in SQL server 2008

    Hi ,
I have a table which consist of following columns
    ID    Formula
    Values
    DisplayValue
    1
    a*b/100       100*12/100
          null
    2
    b*c/100
    12*4/100
    null
I want to perform operation based on column "Values" and save data after operations in new column Name "Display Value" .i.e I want to get the below result . Can anyone please help.
    ID    Formula
    Values
    DisplayValue
    1
    a*b/100       100*12/100
          12
    2
    b*c/100
    12*4/100
    0.48
    Thanks for the help.
    Regards, Priti A

    Try this,
    create table #mytable (ID int,Formula varchar(10), [Values] varchar(10), DisplayValue decimal(10,4))
    insert into #mytable values(1 ,'a*b/100','100*12/100',null)
    insert into #mytable values(2 ,'b*c/100','12*4/100',null)
    declare @rowcount int=1
    while @rowcount <= (select max(id) from #mytable)
    begin
    declare @expression nvarchar(max)
    select @expression=[values] from #mytable where id = + @rowcount
    declare @sql nvarchar(max)
    set @sql = 'select @result = ' + @expression
    declare @result decimal(10,4)
    exec sp_executesql @sql, N'@result decimal(10,4) output', @result = @result out
    update #mytable set DisplayValue= @result where id = @rowcount
    set @rowcount=@rowcount+1
    end
    select * from #mytable

  • Internet Based Clients and Native Mode

    Hi guys,
I have a question.... We have SCCM 2007 SP2 running in mixed mode in the environment. Now we plan to support internet based clients. Here is the current Hierarchy in mixed mode.
    1 Central Server
    1 Primary Server
3 Secondary servers under above Primary Server
Now as the requirement is to support internet based clients and want them to support on office LAN as well when they come to the office....this is what I would be doing : ( Theoretically I know, I need the practical steps to achieve that )
    1. Get all the 3 PKI Certificates : Site Server Signing, Web Server, Client agent.
    2. Make sure all the required ports are opened in-between Intranet <->DMZ AND DMZ <-> Internet
    3. Migrate Central server from Mixed to Native Mode.
    4. Install another Primary Server on Intranet in Native mode.
    5. Create a site system server connected to newly created Native Primary Site in the DMZ zone with these roles installed : MP, SUP and DP.
    6. Re-install all the SCCM clients in the environment with the command-line so that they can be supported on both internet and intranet.
    7. Make sure internet clients are able to connect DMZ site system server via internet.
Please let me know if I'm missing something here and let me know the practical steps to achieve this.
Request you not to share Microsoft technet link for the same. Please share some step-by-step practical document etc.. to achieve this.
    Thanks,
    Sam

    1. This is incorrect. You need more than a single web server cert and client cert. You need a unique server auth cert for *every* one of your systems hosting a client role like the MP, DP, and SUP. Also, you need a unique client auth cert for each and *every*
client that may/will connect via the Internet.
    4. Standing up a whole extra site just to support IBCM is a bit overkill. It does allow you to keep your "main" primary site in mixed mode, but it does add some overhead and cost and is not technically necessary.
    6. Incorrect. You only need to reinstall clients that will be configured as "Internet-only". Intranet clients should pick up the internet facing roles via policy. You can verify this by checking locationservices.log on the clients after they are successfully
communicating and the Internet facing roles are stood up and healthy.
You've made no account above for the CDP or CRL checking. This is a major stumbling block for many folks.

  • Creating a performance report based upon a custom group

I am trying to create a simple performance report based on a SCOM group that I created, however when I run the report the relevant data cannot be found.  When I look at the group membership I see a list of Windows servers.  I then go into a generic
performance report, add a single chart, and line series, and select "Add group" and then search and select the SCOM group I created.  I then add % processor time for 2008 systems as my rule.  However when the report is run, no relevant
data is found. Performance reports run fine when  selecting "Add group" and selecting the members of the group themselves.
My suspicion is that it is trying to run the performance report based on the group object and not the members of the group. Is there anyway that I can accomplish this?  Perhaps via XML?

  • HT3152 I have triple play cable service. Phone service is internet based. i pay monthly charge for cable provider modem. I also want to use modem for my Apple ipad2. Can I replace with another modem that will support internet based phone as well as ipad2?

I have cable triple play service. Phone service ios internet based and depends on cable provider modem. I pay monthly charge for modem. I also want to use modem for ipad2. Is there any modem that can support both internet based phone as well as ipad2?

If I understand you correctly, I have the same configuration.  My modem supports Internet and phone service and my television service bypasses the modem.  It does not do any routing.  It has a single Ethernet port and I plugged in an external router with a WiFi radio - Apple Airport Express.  Works like a champ.
Configuration of the Express was difficult.  I had to plug it in to AC power and to the modem.  Then, I opened up Airport Utility and had to click "yes" for each recommendation.  Then I had to really think hard to come up with a WiFi password.  Took me a horrendous thirty seconds from start to finish!
