Performance Issue After Moving To 11g From 9i
We have a process that inserts approximately 275,000 records into a table containing 22,000,000+ records. This process consistently runs in 1 hour and 20 minutes in our Oracle 9i Database (Standard Edition). This same process runs in 8+ hours in our Oracle 11g Database (Standard Edition) which is a copy of the Oracle 9i Database.
Both databases run on identical hardware running Windows Server 2000. The Servers each have 2 GB RAM.
We have noticed that the process in 11g slows down significantly after it has been running for about 30 minutes and is continuously consuming memory. We also ran a test in which we dropped all indexes on the table being inserted into except the primary key and the process still ran for 8+ hours again.
We executed another test in which the same process was run however we had it insert into a table that contained 0 records and our performance was better than on the 9i Database.
Any ideas on what might be causing the performance issue?

Performance issues after upgrading to 11g
hello,
We are facing a performance issue after upgrading from 10g to 11g.
as you can see, the tables named APPLSYS.FND_ENV_CONTEXT has grown to 15544880 records,
and oracle is using TABLE ACCESS FULL on it:

Performance issue after Upgrade from 4.7 to ECC 6.0 with a select query
Hi All,
There is a Performance issue after Upgrade from 4.7 to ECC 6.0 with a select query in a report painter.
This query is working fine when executed in 4.7 system where as it is running for more time in ECC6.0.
Select query is on the table COSP.
SELECT (FIELD_LIST)
INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE I_COSP PACKAGE SIZE 1000
FROM COSP CLIENT SPECIFIED
WHERE GJAHR IN SELR_GJAHR
AND KSTAR IN SELR_KSTAR
AND LEDNR EQ '00'
AND OBJNR IN SELR_OBJNR
AND PERBL IN SELR_PERBL
AND VERSN IN SELR_VERSN
AND WRTTP IN SELR_WRTTP
AND MANDT IN MANDTTAB
GROUP BY (GROUP_LIST).
LOOP AT I_COSP .
COSP = I_COSP .
PERFORM PCOSP USING I_COSP-_COUNTER.
CLEAR: $RWTAB, COSP .
CLEAR CCR1S .
ENDLOOP.
ENDSELECT.
I have checked with the table indexes, they were same as in 4.7 system.
What can be the reson for the difference in execution time. How can this be reduced without adjusting the select query.
Thanks in advance for the responses.
Regards,
Dedeepya.Hi,
ohhhhh....... lots of problems in select query......this is not the way you should write it.
Some generic comments:
1. never use SELECT
endselect.
SELECT
into table
for all entries in table
where.
use perform statment after this selection.
2. Do not use into corresponding fields. use exact structure type.
3. use proper sequence of fields in the where condition so that it helps table go according to indexes.
e.g in your case
sequence should be
LEDNR
OBJNR
GJAHR
WRTTP
VERSN
KSTAR
HRKFT
VRGNG
VBUND
PARGB
BEKNZ
TWAER
PERBL
sequence should be same as defined in table.
Always keep select query as simple as possible and perform all other calculations etc. afterwords.
I hope it helps.

Performance degradation after setting filesystemio_option=setall from none.
Hi All,
We have facing performance degradation after setting filesystemio_option=setall from none on my two servers as mentioned below.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 7) 2.6.9 55.ELhugemem (32-bit)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.2 (Tikanga) 2.6.18 92.1.10.el5 (64-bit)
We are seeing lots of Disk I/O happening. We expected "*filesystemio_option=setall* " will improve performance but it is degrading. We getting slowness complains.
Please let me know do we need to set somethign else along with this ...like any otimizer parameter( e.g. optimizer_index_cost_adj, optimizer_index_caching).
Please help.Hi Suraj,
<speculation>
You switched filesystemio_options to setall from none, so, the most likely reason for performance degradation after switching to setall is the implementation of directio. Direct I/O will skip the filesystem buffer cache, and and allow Oracle to read directly from disk to the database buffer cache. However, on a system where direct I/O is not implemented, which is what you had until you recently messed with that parameter, it's likely that you had an undersized database buffer cache, but that was ok, because many (most) of the physical I/Os your database was doing, were actually being serviced by the O/S filesystem buffer cache. But, you introduced direct I/O, and wiped out the ability of the O/S to service any physical I/Os from filesystem buffer cache. This means that every cache miss on the database buffer cache, turns into a real, physical, spin-the-disk, move-the-drive-head, physical I/O. And, you are suffering the performance consequences.
</speculation>
Ok, end of speculation. Now, assuming that what I've outlined above is actually going on, what to do? Why is direct I/O lower performing than buffered, non-direct I/O? Shouldn't it's performance be superior?
Well, when you have an established system that's using buffered I/O, and you switch to direct I/O, you almost always will have to increase the size of the database buffer cache. The problem is that you took a huge chunk of memory away from the the O/S, that it was using to buffer your I/Os and avoid physical I/O. So, now, you need to make up for it, by increasing the size of the database buffer cache. You can do this, without buying more memory for the box, because the O/S is no longer going to need to use so much memory for filesystem buffers.
So, what to do? Is it worth switching? Well, on balance, it makes sense to use direct I/O, and give Oracle a larger database buffer cache, for the simple fact that (particularly on a server that's dedicated to being an Oracle database server), Oracle has far more sophisticated caching algorithms, and a better understanding of the various types of data being cached, and so should be able to make more efficient use of the memory, than the (relatively) brain dead caching algorithms of the kernel and filesystem mechanisms.
But, once again, it all comes down to this:
What problem are you trying to solve? Did you have any I/O related issues? Do you have any compelling reason to implement direct I/O? Rule #1 is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Did you just violate rule #1? :-)
Finally, since you're on Linux, you can use the 'free' command to see how much memory is on the box, how much is free, and how much is dedicated to filesystem cache buffers. This response is already pretty long, so, I'm not going to get into details, however, if you're not familiar with the command, the results could be misleading. Read the man page, and try to be clear about understanding it before you make any assumptions about the output.
Hope that helps,

Performance Issues after an Upgrade
Hello!
We are experiencing performance issues after we upgraded to a new version of Hyperion (11.1.2.1). At this point, I am not too sure about the actual causes for this degrade in performance but I am trying to narrow down the causes and need your inputs. Please help me with your ideas.
1) What could be the causes/factors for the performance to degrade after an upgrade?
2) Does the performance of a script depend on the user credentials i.e. who is launching the script? Whether it’s the super admin of the application/application owner or an application specific admin?
3) Does the performance of the scripts depend on the place you are launching it from? For example - will the performance differ if it’s launched from MaxL Vs EAS?
Please let me know your thoughts on this.
Thanks,
- KrrishThere are a number of bugs 12600557, 12675485, 12669814, 12698488 logged in for 11.1.2.1 - If you use Internet Explorer 8 and have data forms designed to use a large number of sparse dimension members in rows or columns, you may experience performance degradation when opening the data forms.
This has been fixed in Oracle Hyperion Planning, Fusion Edition Release 11.1.2.1 Patch Set Update (PSU): 11.1.2.1.101 which is available on My Oracle Support as Patch 12666861.

Performance issue after DB copy
Hello,
I am facing performance issue after doing database copy. Let me explain entire story.
Enviornment is Oracle 10g (10.2.0.4), Operating System is Solaries.
We have one production system with DB sid (PR1) and i have to builded new system using PR1 as PR2, we have done full offline copy from one hardware to another hardware (Hardware is same on PR1 and PR2) and perform rsync command at os level to sync all oracle files at OS level(PR2 is not build using backup/restore or export import method).
Now problem is that
One of query if i am running on PR1 system it is taking only 10-15 seconds, while if i am running same query on PR2 it is taking nearly about 55-60 mins. In initial search i found SGA is very diffrent from PR1 to PR2 then i did change the SGA parameter like PR1 in PR2 after doing changes i am running same query it is taking 6-7 mins, so i got some benifit here, but still i need to tune the query. Query contains 3 tables and all tables having atleast 3-4 indexes.
Can some one help what to tune and what to check?
Thanks,
SinghCheck the explain plan on both systems to see if both instances are trying to do the same thing. This will tell you a lot about what is going on based on physical or logical reads and how long they are taking. You should have the same statistics on both databases if you did a physical copy, but check that too just to make sure. If stats and explain plan are the same, check your hardware. Do you have the same amount of RAM on both systems? Are you using similar storage? If the plan is showing that you are doing a considerable amount of physical I/Os on both it could just be that your physical disk is slower on server two.

After moving all photographs from my first catalogue, which was a mess, to a new catalogue, it all worked fine. Until that is I tried to open the new catalogue, which had worked OK all day. I now get a window that says "Unexpected error, select another catalogue."
OK, restart in Safe Mode, this will clear some caches. It's possible one or more is corrupt. To restart in Safe Mode when you hear the start up tone hold down the Shift Key until you see a progress bar. Let it fully boot then restart normally and test.
Also I am assuming you have checked Finder - Preferences - General and see what boxes are checked in "Show these items on desktop." You can also mount an item in Disk Utility, simply highlight it and then look in the File menu for Mount..... -
Performance issue when moving from 4.6c to 6.0
Looks like we took a performance hit when moving from 4.6c to 6.0 on the same hardware.
For example, our PGI on outbound deliveries now takes several seconds longer in 6.0 then it did in 4.6c. We've noticed other SAP area's are taking longer as well. With an ST05 sql trace on the PGI in 6.0, we see more tables being accessed, same tables being access differently taking longer. All leading to more time to do a PGI in 6.0.
Has anyone else noticed this increase in Response time when upgrading to 6.0 ?
Thanks,
DavidHello.
Yes, in our system we noticed the same thing at start. The general performance seemed to get worse after upgrading. In fact, database became bigger and more memory is consumed. However, it was tuned up by our system administrator and now seems ok.
Run the optimizer statistics and see if it get's better.

I run a XenApp environment (mixed Presentation Server 4.5, XA6.5, XA7.6... I know).
I've somewhat recently moved our RDS/TS licensing from an old 2K3 TS licensing vm that needed to go to a 2012 R2 RDS licensing vm.
The 2K3 vm ran with a Per Device mode, and the 2012 R2 vm is using a Per User model.
RDS is working fine as far as I can tell - handing out licenses to their RD Session hosts, in the proper security group which has the ability to Read/Write the MSLicensing user attributes (Terminal Server License Servers). By GPO, I am telling (and they are
applying) my XenApp servers to use their new RDS Licensing server and with a Per User model. The issue I
am seeing is this:
On a give XenApp server, the eventID 1011 - TerminalServicesRemoteConnectionManager
The remote session could not be established from remote desktop client
computername because its temporary license has expired.
When I hit the Details tab,
Windows Server 2003 - Terminal Server Per Device CAL Token.
Which then results in having to remove the MSLicensing registry key. Which is annoying. Anyone else run into this after moving licensing servers and/or models? Feedback would be awesome, danke!Hi,
According to your description, it sounds like a known issue. The workwgoup is to delete the MSLicensing key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSLicensing. (Note: please create a backup of the MSLicensing registry key and its subkeys on the
client before you remove the original key and subkeys.)

SharePoint 2007 performance issue after upgrading the operating system
We upgraded the operating system of our SharePoint Server 2007 from 2003 to 2008 R2. After upgrade we rebuilt the SharePoint using content DBs we backed up before upgrade. All settings is same except that we moved the DBs to new SQL servers. Now users are
reporting performance issue with sites. I experienced it myself some of the pages takes 9-30 seconds to load. Also our SharePoint server is single server. I monitored the SharePoint Server and it is fine. I did fiddler trace and here are the result. I see
lots of 401 (login failed) errors then 302 (redirect) then 200 (OK). Do you know why we are getting 401 errors?

iexplore:15344Hi
when you request a Site collection (http://domain/) or a Site (http://domain/foo/) of your Publishing Site you get redirected to the http://domain/Pages/<WelcomePage>.aspx. SharePoint 2007 uses the 302 header (location temporarily moved) for
this purpose. Surprisingly even WSS uses the 302 header to redirect a root url to the default.aspx. In comparison ASP.NET uses an internal redirect to render the default page when the root url requested: there is no redirect in this situation.
Check the link which can give more input
http://blog.mastykarz.nl/sharepoint-2007-redirect-solved-using-301-instead-of-302-redirects/
for error 401 you can check this link
http://discussions.citrix.com/topic/97027-no-resources-401-unauthorized/d
and check SharePoint ULS logs and event viewer for any exceptions.

Performance issue after PT Upgrade.
Hakan and Team ,
We recently moved from PT 8.48 TO PT8.51.18 on CRM 8.8 Application.
After the upgrade, we tremendously saw big performance issues with PeopleSoft CRM Application. It freezes almost every day and all their work-force (call center representatives) go idle. It significantly impacts their productivity and eventually losing revenue.
can you please suggest few suggestion or DOC that will help us to improve performance on application and DB side.

SQL SERVER 2005
Windows 2008 R2Hi,
Performance is always a difficult one to tackle.
It can be at so many levels, DB, Appserver, Webserver, CPU, RAM, Infra, etc.
At OOW2012, David Kurtz gave a great highly detailed presentation on this subject: CON9210 - Performance Tuning for PeopleSoft Administrators
http://www.myexpospace.com/oracle2012/smupload/scloader.cfm?SCID=257daa92-a6e8-411a-9806-2c22e56687d3
See if you can apply some of the keypoints from his presentation.

How to Upgrade AR tables whith Huge amount of Datas ( > 50 Millions Rows ) ?Hi,
Dont worry, you are not the only one even we have one customer whose AR_DISTRIBUTIONS_ALL table is 80 GB now and i can even do select count(*) for this table.
We had to keep this much data for business requirements, but i wonder if this is a bug or users mistake.
Due to this we are facing seruios performance issues for AR reports and raised SRs but no resolution yet. And this guy who is assigned to us is reall ynot been helpful to fix the issue.
Although we did not upgrade for this customer, but we migrated from 11.5.9 to R12.1.1 by re-implementation. But all these increasing size of these tables happened after migration.
And i believe most of the time in your upgrade is going to building the indexes. You can ask Oracle if they can edit the driver file to skip building the indxes and rebuild them after upgrade. But again it will also take time.
Another option for you is to "Archive and Purge the data" as per chapter 10 of
11i Receivables user guide.

Major performance Issues after upgrading to 10.9.2
Hi,
I have been having major performance issues almost preventing me from using the computer at times. I suspect I don't have enough memory to run Maverick as the computer was great before I upgraded.
If any experts or people with ideas for me to speed up the computer, please respond. If you think the only way to improve performance is add memory or revert back to a previous version of OSX that I have a backup for, let me know.
Here is the info on my system, thank you in advance!!

Keep an eye on available disk space.
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space. Less can slow your Mac down.

Experiencing strange performance issues after a hard drive failure - Help!
I bought my mid-2012 i5 Macbook Pro in December of 2012. I realized when shopping for computers that I wanted an SSD installed, but that it would be a lot cheaper if I bought the SSD and installed it rather than customizing it in the Apple Store. So I bought a nice Samsung 128GB SSD (820 or 840 - can't remember which) and did the installation. I went ahead and installed two 4GB sticks of RAM while I was at it. Everything was just dandy: my boot time was just under 9 seconds, and all of my data-heavy apps booted in no-time at all. Then all **** broke loose.
About two weeks ago, I opened my computer and I got the dreaded "? File Folder" notification with a gray screen. I immediately thought hard drive failure. No matter how many times I tried to boot, the computer just would not talk to the SSD anymore. I used Internet Recovery to get into my Disk Utility, and the entire partition was gone. I assumed the worst but wanted to be sure - I bought a hard drive enclosure and hooked the SSD up to an older Macbook, and lo and behold: it worked perfectly. I was not only able to recover data, but I could write data to the drive. Nothing appeared wrong with the drive when I plugged it into the old Macbook, but my newer Macbook still would not recognize it. Even my fiance's Windows 7 PC recognized the drive as "?" (since it was formatted for Mac, but hey - it recognized that it existed!).
I decided to re-install the original HDD that came with the 2012 Macbook Pro (the one I removed in favor of the SSD). I was able to re-install the OS and I can boot up at will, but everything is different. The performance issues are extremely noticeable. I can't have more than two programs running at one time without the spinning wheel of death appearing. My boot time went from 9 seconds to 2 minutes. I know that SSDs increase performance, so there is some slight performance downgrade to be expected since I am using a mechanical drive now -- but these are not normal issues. Sometimes I can't even type a web address into Safari without the wheel appearing. iTunes, and specifically the App Store, take minutes to open - and I have no media is on iTunes.
Here's the thing: I have tried just about anything to fix this problem that Google can pull up. I've verified the HDD, I've booted into Safe Mode, reset RAM and cache, run benchmarks and other performance tests, entered all sorts of weird language into Command Prompt, and studied Activity Monitor - I can't find a single red flag that would indicate anything being wrong. It appears to be a perfectly functioning, updated computer.
I'm thinking a piece of hardware failed that triggered the error with the SSD. I'm not really sure though since all of my performance tests indicate perfectly functioning hardware. I'm a little afraid to take it to the Apple store because I know they'll tell me it's my fault for opening the computer and replacing the hard drive in the first place.
Any ideas? At this point anything to salvage this computer would be helpful.Spin Cycle,
were those other computers which were able to recognize your SSD in its external enclosure also Macs? Do you know if your SSD has its most recent firmware revision installed? (If it doesn’t, its installer can be downloaded from the Samsung SSD firmware page for burning onto a bootable DVD.) I haven’t used the 830 myself, so I don’t know what its reputation is with Macs. I have an 840 PRO in my MacBook Pro, which has been trouble-free for me, but my understanding is that the 840 EVO has had trouble with Macs in its earlier firmware revisions — so I’m wondering if the 830 has a known track record with Macs, good or bad.
