Performance Manager and Data Gatherer

Hello,
I am looking for some basic info (I think). I have been using the EM Console - standalone for some time now but would like to use the diagnostic pack and Performance Manager. Can this be used in a standalone configuration or do I need to buy Enterprise Manager? If it works in a standalone configuration and I do not need to buy it, could you point me in the direction of documentation on how to start the data gatherer on my 9i database on AIX 5?

i suggest you to uninstall businessobjects and install again(else it's very hard to add the performance management program).
while you install, check the install performance management also(you have to have the keyword).

i have taken "Oracle Database 12c: Performance Management and Tuning new" training from oracle university. Now i would like to get certified on "Oracle Database 11g: Performance Tuning 1Z0-054" exam. Is it possible ?

I essentially endorse and refer you to Matthews' and John's post above.
I would differ with slightly with Matthew because my guess is you would often be able to use like for like 12c training for an 11g certification ( I believe there are precedents). BEFORE ANYONE ASKS THE OTHER WAY DOESN'T HAPPEN.
.... but totally concur with Matthew you would ill advised to procede on that basis without one of:
- This being advertised as possible on the website : e.g. https://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=654&get_params=p_id:169 ... option 2 show courses.

... The more common (and in my opinion usually better) way would be get your 11g DBA OCP ( or higher first) and then take the 1z0-054. I am almost certain they will accept your 12c course for the 11g DBA OCP.
If you are choosing the route of not being a 11g (or 12c ) DBA OCP first but are on option 2 and relying on the course for certification then the issue is more in the balance and you are even more strongly advised to get confirmation before proceding (remember if the rules need to be changed for you only then any profit out of the exam is lost).
In general my understanding is Oracle would prefer to encourage people to train on the latest version of product that is available for training and will prefer to avoid restrictions which would cause you to train at a lower version. ( This is simply my guess at Oracle University Policy ... personal opinion only).
Having said all I have said I'd encourage you to go with the advice of the earlier two posts.

Performance Management - Legacy data migration

We are going live in mid-feb. We would like to migrate the legacy appraisal data (non-SAP) into SAP Performance Management
How do we do this?
Is it possible to create the VB , VC objects by a report. I am considering creating a transition appraisal document for this migration.

Setting of the STATUS is possible via BAPI.
Once you create the Project definition you can then use the GUID and set the status of the newly created project.
I you want to set the STATUS to anything other than RELEASE. Make sure to set it to RELEASE 1st then to wat ever you choose. You can do both all of the above before you COMMIT

UCS Performance Manager and NetApp c-mode filers

We started an evaluation of the UCS Performance Manager. I can't add to the UCS Performance Manager Infrastructure any NetApp c-mode filers. Does anyone have the same problem?

Hi John, From the output you shared it looks like you using Performance Advisor and want to share a graph of a 7-mode system. The instructions link you shared is from Performance Manager which is for Clustered Data ONTAP only. In the Performance Advisor there is unfortunately no way to share a link. You can 'save as' to png as you probably already saw, or you can use the dfm CLI to generate the same and email, perhaps as a daily report. There is also a data collector that will post to the NetApp ToolChest that submits data to Graphite with dashboards in Grafana. This solution would allow sharing of a URL like you desire. Difference between ARIS Process Performance Manager and SAP BI

If I can add to the comment of Ajay,
I think that when your goal is to measure the performance of a Process and analyze root cause of performance problems, Process Performance Manager is best suited.
Even if SAP BI could do it as well, I think that SAP BI is best suited for data analysis like financial reports, Market studies ...
I think that the baseline is that SAP BI is a broader BI solution but ARIS PPM is best suited for process performance than SAP BI.

Performance issue and data getting interchanged in BO Webi report + SAP BW

We are using SAP BW queries as the source for creating some BO reports.
Environments :
SAP - SAP BI 7.1
BO - BO XI 3.1
Issues :
The reports were working fine in Dev and Q with less data. But when we point the universes to BW prod ( where we have much data), the reports are taking quite a long time to refresh and getting timed out. This query has some key figures which are having customer exits defined to show only one month data. And also BW accelerators are updated for the infocubes pertaining to this query. The BO report is giving data if we apply a filter in 'Query Panel' of Webi to show only current month dates. But then the issue is the values are getting interchanged for many objects. For ex: there are 2 objects- ABS version and Market region. The values are getting interchanged in the BO level.
Please let us know if anything needs to be done in BO or BW to fix this issue if anyone has faced the same
Also Please let us know if customer exits and accelerators works fine with BO

We are able to solve the performance issue by removing unused Key figures and dimensions from the query, but the column value interchange issue still persisits
The build version is - 12.3.0
Query Stripping
Where should we enable query stripping? When i went through some documentation it was written that it'll be enabled automatically from XI 3.1 Sp3. Can you please let us know if its so and what we need to do to enable it.
The coulmn interchange is happening when we use dimensions in a certain order. When product type is used along with Market region. Market region shows values of Product type also in Webi report.

Seperating management and data networks.

Hello all
Our network has developed over the years to a point where I have 4 seperate networks at each branch. Secure Data, Management, Vendor and VOIP.
Secure Data is used for uers to access the mainframe and do daily tasks including the internet
Management is used for access to routers switches and UPs's etc.
Vendor is used for unmanaged (by us) devices like ATM's and other systems provided by vendors.
VOIP is fo VOIP.
Each are seperate VLANS on the cisco 2811 trunked to the switch
What method of seperating these networks do other companies use? IOS firewall or access lists, or am I missing something?
All of the Cisco IOS firewall stuff seems to be focussed on outside to indise, while access lists get super conplicated when i try to design them
There are all kinds of cross zone requirements, like PCs in Data to VOIP etc?
My company is a bank holding company so I am talking about bank branches, and we have 24 of them.

You would probably have got a response if you had posted in the correct forum ie. this is nothing really to do with VPN. The firewalling or more likely the LAN Switching/Routing forums would have been a better choice. So that is probably why you didn't get a response because we do try to help
That said, the general answer to your question is it really does depend on how secure your requirements are. So a number of options -
1) use a dedicated firewall and route the vlans off that
2) use a router and ZBF or CBAC for each subinterface
3) use standard acls to limit the traffic between vlans
I have seen all the above used. If you have strict security requirements then firewalling each vlan is an option but it does get complicated. For most companies L3 acls on the vlan interfaces are usually enough.
So looking at each vlan you have -
1) management vlan. You would definitely want to restrict which IPs can access this vlan. Hopefully you have a set of defined IPs (which you may need to make static in DHCP) that can access the devices. You should also obviously be running SSH if supported to connect to devices
2) data vlan - what are you trying to do here. Stop the data vlan from accessing other vlans or stop other vlans accessing the data vlan. This and the VOIP vlan are probably the most open, simply because that is where the users reside.
So do you have specfic requirements for these vlans in terms of your company policy.
3) VOIP - see 2)
4) Vendors - this is the trickies one of the lot and can give so many headaches. It's very difficult to give vendors the access they need without then allowing them to see other parts of the network. A lot of this comes down to how much you trust your vendors. Obviously you would want to make sure that they cannot leave the vlan they are on.
Don't forget that as far as internal security is concerned firewalling/L3 acls is only one part of it and as you have said it can become very complex. Equally important is locking down the user desktop so they cannot modify settings etc, implementing L2 security features on devices eg. port security/DAI/STP bpduguard etc and use 802.1x authentication for access to the network.
Overall most networks i have come across rely on L3 acls internally to filter inter-vlan traffic + L2 security features. If there are any vlans critical to the business then they have been firewalled but firewalling every is a big adminstrative overhead.
With some routers/switches there is now also the option of vrf-lite which allows you to create multiple virtual routers on the same box. The good thing about this is that each has it's own routing table so unless you allow routes to be leaked between vrfs the 2 routing tables cannot see each other.

Looking for some recommendations on tools that can be used independent of the source (that is just on the swf) to check for Frames Per Second, total size and how often the movie loops.
Needed for Flash Banner ad quality assurance.

The need was solved by writing my own AIR app to read the SWF file header.

1. U need to create export datasource for source Cube and then setup connection b/w both the system, create source system in Target system . then follow the normal process of assigning to Infosource ,TRansfer rules etc.
2. You can delete the data in Cubes either by selective deletion or by deleting the Requests if Cube not compressed.
3. Check Archving Topic in Help .sap .com , reload depends where data is archived , Below link says how to reload from Archive files .

Performance Management: Pushbutton Date Restrictions

My client has a requirement to restrict the use of certain pushbuttons based on specific dates (they do not want a manager to be able to "approve" until a specified date has passed). We are implementing EHPK 4 Flex. I have attempted to use the Tab/Process config (HAP_TAB_CONF) to input the specific dates for the corresponding status/substatuses (process steps) however these dates do not seem to provide restrictions based on the Start/End dates input rather the dates are just available as information to the end users. Is there a way through config to restrict the use of pushbuttons based on a date?

I have already considered the use of Pushbutton Badi, the reason I am posting here is because restriction based on dates is not a standard implementation of HRHAP00_BUT_ACCESS, it will have to be a custom implementation.
I am aware that in the PMP (predefined process) the type of date restriction I am looking for is available through standard config. I am still looking for a solution that does not require customization. Of course if no one is aware of how to accomplish then pushbutton badi will be the solution we implement.

XI3.0 and Performance Managment

All,
I have downloaded and installed XI3.0 in a local virtual machine using the Performance Manager BOE Premium Bundle license key from ESD. It all installs fine but I get no EPM demo dashboards (Total Electronics).
I do however have in C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Performance Management 12.0 various folders including one called demos. In XIr2, there used to be a BIAR file to import the demos but I cannot see the same in XI3.0.
All I can find are XML files in a demos>>dashboard folder, XML files in demos>>dataconnections folder and the usual 7 universes in the demos>>universes folder.
Anyone know how I get this demo content installed ?

There is no demo actually.
Performance manager and Dashboard analytics are both wdeployed into the tomcat webapp folder.
You can try some in the performance manager through infoview and need the license for the analytics catalog in infoview
