Performance Monitor Agent Configuration Solaris

Hi there,
Was wondering if anyone here has managed to set up the Performance Monitor on
Solaris?
I've followed the instructions in the manual to the letter but can't seem to get
the agent hooked up on the console. I know that the agent is running but when
I click on the Performance Monitor -> Configuration -> Agent, the console does
not display the any Agent.
Can any one here please help me?
Cheers
Zeus.

Per,
Could you please list the config steps performed including all the DB operation you performed for setting up the new DB?
Regards,
Deepak

In order to find the PerformanceMonitor web app, the ConsoleExt needs to
examine your classpath to get the appropriate WLHOME. It does this by
searching for .../server/lib/weblogic.jar. Please make sure your CLASSPATH
is correct and matches where PerformanceMonitor is installed. For example,
the path to .../server/lib/weblogic.jar is the same as to ../common/perf. In
my world, they both happen to be d:\bea\weblogic81.

  • Install Nagios agents on Solaris 10 to monitor from RHEL 5

    Hi,
Could anyone let me know the steps to be followed to install Nagios agents on Solaris 10 for monitoring from RHEL5. It is very urgent please help me.
    Thanks
    Rao

    Hi Sugunakar,
There are a few small things I can think of checking:
I am trying to install SMC on solaris 10What version of Solaris 10 are you using? You need 11/06 (aka "Update 3") or later. Also, it looks like this is on a V210: how much memory and swap do you have ([requirements here|http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-2215/deployment-72?l=en&a=view])? And have you [edited your /etc/project file|http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-2216/chapter2-1000?l=en&a=view] to adjust the shared memory settings?
Have you applied any of the [patch sets|http://forums.halcyoninc.com/showthread.php?t=104]?
smcdatabase service is always in maintenance mode.It would be interesting to see what that service log says. Look in /var/svc/log/application-management-sunmcdatabase:default.log for clues.
/var/opt/SUNWsymon/install/guibased-setup.1285765588453.sh: /var/opt/SUNWsymon/db/data/SunMC/pg_hba.conf: cannot createIs there any reason why SunMC may not be able to write to /var (or /var/opt/SUNWsymon)? Maybe portions of /var are read-only (shared from a global zone, or over NFS)?
I've done a lot of SunMC pilot projects over the years: if you could use some help speeding up your eval just send me an email.

  • Configure Cisco Mediatrace, Cisco IOS IP SLA, and Performance Monitoring

    Hi all,
I am implementing Cisco Prime Collaboration to monitor the quality of the VoIP call.
I am following all the steps that I have to do to accomplish this task at this link:
    http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Setting_up_Devices_for_Prime_Collaboration_Assurance#Configuring_Unified_Contact_Center_Enterprise_Devices
And now I am arrived on this step:
Configure Cisco Mediatrace, Cisco IOS IP SLA, and Performance Monitoring
Not all the Cisco devices that I have on the network are "Mediatrace, IP SLA and Performance Monitoring" capabilities. The core switch is one of them.
What will happen if some devices are configured with these capabilities and some are not?
Are the data provided from Cisco Collaboration still reliable?
    Thanks in advance.
    Luigi

I can't see a reason why the 2 features won't work together. The 2 features will work just fine with each other.
Unfortunately there is no sample config with both feature in the same document, but it will work just fine.

  • Unable to Silent Monitor newly configured agent via SAD

Unable to silent monitor newly configured agent via SAD (supervisor agent desktop).....attached is a screen shot of the error messages.
I have verified the following -
    - agent is able to log in successfully...
    - supervisor is able to see the agent via realtime report etc...
    - agents that are being monitored successfully, has the same NIC card and are on the same vlan as the new agent...
    - I am able to see the new agent extension and mac address under VoIP monitoring device in the CDA (cisco desktop administration)...
    Please advise, thanks -

There is a utility in the newer releases of UCCX that is included with CAD on the agent PCs that can help narrow down the cause of this problem.  On the agent PC, navigate to C:\Program Files\cisco\desktop\bin and you will see NICQ.exe.  Run this utility while the agent is on a call.  This utility captures packets on the NIC and verifies that the PC is receiving packets from the phone correctly.
If this tool reports that it cannot find an RTP stream, it's best to focus on the agent PC and their phone configuration.  On some phones, you may need to disable the advertise G722 codec, because this is not supported with CAD monitoring/recording yet.  Also, even though the MAC address shows up correctly in CDA for their extension, it's important to make sure the extension is only used once in CUCM by searching the route plan report.  Otherwise, the VoIP Monitoring service may receive the wrong device's MAC address when trying to filter for the RTP stream.
Make sure the PostInstall tool on the agent PC has the correct NIC selected to capture traffic on.  This is important when the agent PC has more than one NIC installed.  This utility is also in C:\Program Files\cisco\desktop\bin on the agent PC.
If the phone seems OK but the problem remains, you can isolate it to a PC by connecting the agent's phone to another PC, like the PC of an agent that can be monitored.  If the non-working agent can be monitored using their own login to CAD and their own phone on the other agent's PC, then it's just a matter of finding differences between the two PCs that can lead to the problem.
    Thanks,
    Brendan

  • Performing targets discovery and agent configuration --- HANGS

    Hello,
I'm running Grid Control 10.2.0.4 on windows2003 server. I have installed the agent on a number of systems with no problem.
BUT, on one server the install seems to HANG during the:
"Performing targets discovery and agent configuration" step.
below is the last entry in my log file. So a couple questions:
    1. Any ideas what is going on?
    2. If I cancel it the install, can I restart it manually (agentca -d ???)
    3. What logs should I look at.
I have tried installing it on this server several times with no luck. I also had problems upgrading from DB 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.3. The DBUA would say "thinks this is a Rerun operation" and recommend I remove some file that doesn't exist (but this is a seperate issue, just included it FYI).

  • How do I write/use performance monitor to run an action when something happens?

I notice that I get a popup if desktop resources are over-used asking me if I want to turn off the glass desktop.
    That's fine.
I've been looking in Performance Monitor for how this is done, as I have a program that periodically runs amok and starts indexing my Documents directory.  I usually start to notice my machine getting sluggish when the process gets to about 1.5-2+GB
in Virtual and working memory.  At that point it seems to be increasing it's network usage rate geometically, and interrups will start getting delayed or lost -- keyboard will lock up for periods, lots of things freezing temporarily (music will get 10-20
second dropouts)  It can even cause a complete system lockup
So what I would like to do is monitor any instance of this process by name ('explorer'), and restart it when it gets to over 1.5GB of usage.
I setup a monitor of virtual size and working memory in the performance monitor, but I don't see how to set up an alarm that starts an action to restart it.  (restarting it will cause the problem to go away for anywhere from a few hours to several days).
I've no clue as to what triggers it.
I found a bunch of XML scripts in
    Windows/pla/Rules with names like:
    Rules.System.CPU.xml*
    Rules.System.Common.xml*
    Rules.System.Configuration.xml*
    Rules.System.Diagnostics.xml*

    Rules.System.Summary.xml*
    Rules.System.Wired.xml*

Question is, how can I setup it for calling a trigger script when
parameters for Explorer get out of spec.
On confusing issue that stopped me from proceeding, was the time schedule to run the report:
    I only allows for once/day.
I need / want continuous monitorying -- say at 1 minute or 3 minute intervals (5 might work, not sure -- doesn't take long for Explorer to get to 1-2G with a network connection of 10Gb.
So how can I monitor and control it?
    A side issue -- I notice a resource-control agent for Win 2008 -- but this was disabled for Win7.
Anyone know why resource usage on Win7 was considered less important than on Win2k8 server?
My version of Win7 is Win7-x64-sp1 "Ultimate" [sic] (it doesn't include professional features like resource control)...
Thanks...This has bothered me for over a year and has persisted through new profiles and reinstalls of of the OS.
I have a feeling it is related to MS disabling Network disks in their indexer, so Explorer ends up doing it as a surrogage for things like the search engine (with the results not stored, because they are not local -- the worst of both worlds?)... but that's
    just a feeling...
    Thanks!
    Astara...

You can create a Data Collector Set (create manually, not template), then choose performance counter Alert, configure alert actions, from the script, seems you want to monitor the “physicalDisk” performance, so you can set the “physicalDiskCounters”
into alert action, please follow the instruction in the link below.
    Monitor disk space

If you want to view the detailed process related about explorer when your machine getting sluggish, I'd like to introduce a tool named process explorer to you.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx
It can clearly show you the processes running in your system, along with the hierarchical relationship and the cpu usage.

  • OEM-Performance monitoring

Hi we are running oracle 8.1.6 and I am seeking some your advice and expertise on OEM.
We like to use OEM for a lot of our Database performance monitoring and tuning and I like to know how reliable this Management tool is. I have heard some negative comments about OEM like: "it is very buggy", "can't rely on it", " it is not quite there yet".
We do have some issues with its installation and configuration on Solaris, and I am beginning to feel that other rumors might be true too.
Is there any one out there who has a good, positive experience with OEM that can convince me we can choose it as a reliable tool to monitor the performance of our database???
    Please share.

The document link Eric sent pretty much covered the installation and configuration part.
    also crosscheck EM admin guide,
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/em.920/a96670/toc.htm
    It's part of EM installation.

  • Performance Monitor Installation

Space is limited in our environment. Couldn't we just configure the performance monitoring tables in a Development Environment? Instead of creating PSSYS Sytem database?

this is from the documentation that I have for PeopleTools 8.48 Peformance Monitor
    Setup for The Monitored System
    Performance Monitor Element Description
Server process agents One agent exists for each of the following server processes
running within an application server domain:
    • PSAPPSRV
    • PSQCKSRV
    • PSQRYSRV
    • PSMONITORSRV
    • PSSAMSRV
    • PSANALYTICSRV
For example, The Monitored System would be Production. The Monitoring System would be PFSYS. Once you enable • PSANALYTICSRV on the Application Server for Production, The PS Browser Navigation becomes extremely slow within Financials. Once I turn off the • PSANALYTICSRV within the Application Server, Navigation returns to normal. I tried this on both a Financials and HR/Payroll Environment to see if the users would be impacted by slow performance when they are navigating. There is definitely an unacceptable decline in performance.
To collect data from a Production environment if I didn't have to turn on • PSANALYTICSRV within the Monitored Application Server, then the performance would probably be acceptable. I don't know if this server process has to be enabled. If it doesn't, then I can move on to try and get Performance Monitor working. I stopped due to the performance problem.
    Thanks for your quick responses.

  • 7.0.2 monitor agent, linux, email

How does the Linux monitor agent perform email notification? Have a complaint that not all events are being emailed, consistently.

Why not use our own GWIA? The destination is internal. Right now, it is going to the (a) GWIA. I can change it, if necessary.

Hope that points you in the right direction.

  • Regarding performance monitoring of RWB

As far as I know , there are two ways to show the data through performance monitoring. One is [overview data],the other is [detailed data].My question is,my [overview data] is displayed successfully, but [detailed data] doesn't display anything. Some parameter need to set for [detailed data]?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Brand,
If detailed data is missing i think some settings were missed & just go thru the links given below ur problem will be solved
Can you check the following function modules. In SE37 look for FMs "SXIPERF*" . You will get

  • Agent Configuration Problem

This in on an HPUX 64-bit system. I'm getting these errors during the configuration step. The install of 10.2.0.1 and Patch to 10.2.0.4 had no errors. We're not running IAS anywhere. I've confirmed that the files it says it can't find are there (right where it says it's looking). Don't know what the problem securing OMS is, trying to find other related log files....
