Performance monitoring issue with LDOMs?

I am trying to monitor the IO statistics within our LDOMs and I'm running into some strange behavior. The IO that I'm seeing inside the LDOM itself using iostat is off by an incredibly wide margin from the IO that the primary LDOM is showing. Below is an example. I'm running iostat -xnz 5 100 inside the LDOM and in the primary LDOM. I put one of the iterations of that that ran at the same time inside and out. For this particular instance, we're seeing ~60 r/s and ~110 w/s inside. In the primary LDOM we're seeing ~700 r/s and 150 w/s.
Can anyone help explain this disparity?

We have 3 luns presented from a DMX to the physical server. I'm running ZFS inside and outside. We created a pool on the primary ldom and then create 3 volumes. Those volumes are seen by the host as virtual disks. Those disks are then put in 2 separate pools within the LDOM.

When you are going to record, the Recording panel pops up (with the level meter, etc). Make sure that, in the Monitor section, the correct soundcard is selected and the "Mute Project" button is not selected. That should solve it.

  • Dual monitor issue with 10.8 and Windows 7 (bootcamp)

I've a read a lot of threads here about people having nightmare-ish problems after upgrading.  Thankfully, this isn't one of them, just a frustration that I'd like advice on.
My system:  2010 13" MBP, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8GB RAM, 320GB HD.  Work setup has external 17" Dell Widescreen monitor connected with VGA to miniDisplay adapter.  Home theater setup has 23" Dell monitor connected with HDMI to miniDisplay cable.
I upgraded from 10.6.8 to 10.8, as I like to stay up to date and it seemed ML fixed many of the Lion issues.  After finding out Front Row is completely gone I just about reverted (my laptop doubles as my home theater control).  I found XBMC, and it works, sort of (anyone with news on whether Front Row will be returned to us, let me know!).
    Enough babbling, my issue:
When I switch from bootcamp windows 7 back to OS X, my second monitor's resolution is all screwed up (very low) and the dock and menu bar are BOTH on the second (Dell 17") screen, though it's not in a mirror mode.
Usually the dock is on the laptop screen, and the menu bar is on the second.
All I have to do is unplug the miniDisplay port and plug it back in, but is there a setting I'm missing to keep me from having to do this?  Also, I've never used Windows at home, so I've never had to switch with the 23 inch monitor connected.  Don't really want to try as that system is working quite well right now.
    Thanks!
    -Rob

    It's NVidia GeForce 320M.
Just checked the drivers page and the Mac side only lists up to 10.6.8
Should I assume that the update needs to be on the Windows 7 side?  At one point last November I tried to update on the Windows side and it caused all sorts of **** on my system causing me to have to reinstall both OS X and 7.
    May be worth another try?

  • Multi-monitor issue with CS4?

Hi; I'm running a Mac with the following specs:
    3 x 30" ACD
    MacPro 2,8 Ghz Quad
2x ATI Radon 2600 XT graphics cards (2 screens attached to 1 card; 1 screen to the other card)
I've encountered after the switch from CS3 to CS4 the following issue:
Whenever I try to use the new Bridge Review function using one of the the screens sharing one graphics card I just get a grey screen.
If I move the bridge window to the solely attached screen it works.
Is that an issue of CS4 or is just the throughput of the second graCard providing 2 monitors not sufficient.
    Thanks t.

    T,
There are known issues with using more than one graphics card which Apple has not truly resolved.  You may want to browse some of the threads in the Adobe Photoshop Macintosh forum.
In addition, you should know that Photoshop and Bridge cannot really take advantage of more than one graphic card.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/1540485#1540485
This bit of information in relation to GPU and OpenGL features and
limitations in Photoshop CS4 had totally escaped me until now. Though
it doesn't affect my setup, it might be of interest to others who may
    have missed it too.
    Excerpt from
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb404898
    Q. Does Photoshop take advantage of dual-GPU display cards?
    A. Not at this time.
    Q. Why can't Photoshop take advantage of more than one display card?
    A. When you move an image window between two monitors that are
each on a separate display card, the GPU attached to the second monitor
does not have access to the data necessary to accelerate drawing. The
SLI and Crossfire technologies that use more than one GPU to speed up
full-screen games will not work with Photoshop, because their use is
limited by design to accelerate only full-screen games.

  • Terminal monitor issue with 3750

I'm having an issue with term mon not displaying messages. I enable term mon on telnet connection and have checked the log settings and monitor is set as debugging. I am mainly interested in seeing line up/down status so I set a couple of interfaces logging event link-status. Maybe I've misunderstood how to do this. Thanks for the help.

Based on the output, you don't have terminal monitor enabled:
    Capabilities: none
    Here is my output:

  • Multi monitor issues with resolution(?)

At a customer I have got a really strange and annoying problem. The customer has got a Hyper-V VM with 2012 R2 Server as a RDS server aka Terminal Server.
One user has got issues with his multi monitor setup. The connection settings seems to be OK. It is set to full screen and the checkbox for the multi monitor configuration is enabled. Theoretically this works because the user sees a correct setup with one
primary display and one secondary display. The settings itself are correct.
    1. Primary display: 1680*1050
    2. Secondary display: 27" 1920*1080
The display settings on the client are nearly the same except that the numbers of the two monitors are different (those numbers you get when you click identify at the resolution change window). On the Windows 7 client the primary display
number 2 and the 27" has got the number 1. On the Terminal Server the primary display has got the number 1 and the 27" display has got the number 2. But the corresponding resolution at the display number is correct.
Now the problem. Everything seems fine, the desktop is expended. But when the user is "touching" the top or bottom edge of the screen the display is scrolling (in full screen) -  like in a 3D game scrolling over a map. The user told me that
both screens are scrolling equally at the same time. I am not sure but the user told me that if he is going to the bottom the CLIENT task bar appears. Changing the task bar of the client to fixed the user told me that the task bar will always show up. - Strange
that CTRL + ALT + BREAK does not work.
I tried to press CTRL + ALT + BREAK twice, changing the resolution to a fixed value and back to full screen again, changing the primary display to the new 27" monitor, adding smart sizing:i:1 to rdp file and upgrading the Intel HD
4600 laptop graphic drivers (must be downloaded from Lenovo :/). NOTHING helped :(.
But this strange behavior does not exist on the client. Opening two programs (simple notepad e.g.) on each display and maximize them and moving the mouse the screen borders won't show this problem. It only exist on the remote session.
Now the "funny" part. If I connect with Team Viewer to the client the problem disappears as long as I am connected. If I disconnect the problem shows up again.

    Hi,
This is most likely a problem with the local machine's graphics driver and monitor configuration.  I would suggest trying different things like removing and re-installing the display adapter and its drivers, removing the second monitor/restarting/adding
the second monitor back, adjusting the multi-monitor settings in display properties (changing between extending the desktop to the second monitor and not), undocking/restarting/docking, changing between different modes using Fn key on laptop (if laptop), etc.
The behavior under Team Viewer is likely because the graphics configuration is different when the driver is active.
I wish I could give you more precise instructions on how to resolve the issue.  I have seen this behavior (panning desktop, multi-monitor config not exactly right) probably 3 times over the last 5 years, always with a laptop, and I had to "play"
with the settings before it finally went back to normal.  The instances I have seen it occur did not involve Remote Desktop specifically.

  • Performance / stability issues with BDB 3.3.62 while checkpointing

    Hi,
first of all: we use BDB 3.2 for more than a year within our application and we never had any performance or stability issues. Now we are about to release a new version of our software with BDB 3.3 and we found some problems during our release tests.
This is the situation: we have implemented some cleanup routines that make very heavy use of the BDB environment. The common usage pattern is to scan the database (about 300GB with >> 100 million items) and than delete a lot of items from the database. The first versions of our cleanup routine worked without any problem but during performance tuning of our code we suddenly and reproducible encountered segmentation faults in the com.sleepycat.je.recovery.Checkpointer thread. We analysed more that 10 VM crashes and ALL crashes were related to Checkpointer thread. (Linux 64 bit, JDK 1.5.0_013 / 1.6.0_06)
After we removed our performance tuning (only application logic – nothing BDB-related) the VM crashes disappeared – so it looks like some kind of problem which only occurs under high load conditions. Next thing we tried was enabling our performance tuning and setting Ceckpointer configuration to default (write a checkpoint after 20MB) before that we used time based checkpointing with 60 sec interval.
With Default Checkpointer configuration there were no VM-crashes but performance was very slow!
Finally my question: What Checkpointer configuration would you recommend for an environment that is under very high load with regard to delete operations? Would you recommend using “high priority Checkpointing”? Would you recommend time- or data-based checkpointing?
It looks like Checkpointing every 60 seconds was not a good idea but 20MB seems to be too slow.
This leads to another question: What does a longer Checkpointing interval mean for recovery time? Does recovery take substantially longer if checkpointing is done less fequently?
Any help would be very much apprechiated.

  • Active Monitor issues with WhatsUp Gold

Has anyone here written an active script for WhatsUp Gold to monitor that your SQL Service is actually running?
I've been working on customizing a script, which was publicly available from IPSwitch, to do so for my organization, but regardless of whether my server is actually up or down, it's returning an "UP" status.
    My script is below:
    On Error Resume Next
'Sending log message to the WhatsUp Event Viewer
    Context.LogMessage "Checking Address=" & Context.GetProperty("Address")
'Set the result code of the check (0=Success, 1=Error)
    Context.SetResult 0, "No error"
strQuery = "select count( *) as count from nowhere"
    'Create connection and recordset objects
    Set objConn = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
    Set objRS = CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
'In my actual script it has the real server name, databasename, username and password
'Create the connection string based on the device credentials
    objConn.ConnectionString = "Driver={SQL Server};Server=MyServerName;Database=MyDBName;uid=MyUserName;pwd=MyPassword;"
'Open and connect to the database
    objConn.Open
'Perform the query and move to the first recordset entry
'in my actual script, this has my real tablename too
'this table always has values in it, so it should always return a count of at least 1 row
objRS.Open "select count( *) as count from tablename", objConn, 3, 3
    objRS.MoveFirst
' If there are no records, then no value was returned; therefore an alert should be set off
    IF IsNull(objRS) Then
    Context.SetResult 1, "SQL Down"
'otherwise, if there IS a result set, the server is up, and it will notify the alert that SQL UP
    ELSE
    Context.SetResult 0, "SQL Up"
    END IF
    'Tidy up the objects
    objRS.Close
    objConn.Close

    MD,
    Is this still an issue?

  • Second LCD monitor issue with my G5

Ok so I have a used G5 1.6GHz single Powermac.
When I purchased my G5 it didn't have a system installed on it. So I loaded 10.4 onto it and swapped everything from my G4 to the G5 using the G4 as an external Firewire drive. have 2gb of memory inside and it is the correct memory and they have been tested just fine.
Now the second LCD screen I have was working just fine when I had it hooked up to the G4. I have updated my firmware in the G5 to the most current setting. I have reset the PRAM and now I am attempting to figure out if I might have a bad Video card or if my monitor is not working correctly.
I have a Samsung 204B monitor. The issues I have is it blinks off and on when I move things around on the monitor. Sometimes when I open a new window on Safari the screen goes blank. Other times when Im using Photoshop CS2 it will go blank when certain shots come up. It doesn't do it all the time so now I have to figure where to start to troubleshoot this issue.
    Thanks,
    Ross

I am having what sounds like the exact same problem. I have an Apple Cinema display for my main monitor and a ViewSonic 17 inch LCD for my second monitor.
As with photoguy1010, my second monitor frequently blanks out for up to 2 seconds when I click on something that is ont hat screen or try to move a window. But it is not consistent, sometimes it happens frequently, sometimes less often.
I am sure it is not the monitor because the problem happens with a Samsung 17" LCD monitor also and both the ViewSonic and the Samsung work perfectly with my powerbook. I have several times used the same cable with my powerbook and had no problems.
So it seems to me the problem must be in the G5. Is there anything other than the video card that might cause this?

  • Multiple monitor issues with quicktime.

Hi, I can never get this issue sorted out with Quicktime. I run windows xp and use 2 screens. Whenever I open a quicktime movie it takes over one of my screens so I can't do anything on it except watch the quicktime movie. Is there a way I can run quick time so it runs only on the screen I have quicktime running and leave my other screen alone??
    Thanks,
    Syed.

Are your monitors set up correctly in the Display control panel settings for primary and secondary? I had a similar problem where a QT video would always open on the monitor to the left cannot remember how I resolved it, so thinking it might be the Display control panel. Or clearing recent in player prefs.

  • Secondary monitor issues with iMac after 10.6.5 upgrade

After the upgrade to 10.6.5 yesterday, my second monitor on my iMac has been turning to snow, and then coming right back to normal about every 10 seconds.
I've tried rebooting with and without the monitor connected, and I'm still getting the same problem.
Anyone one else having this issue?

Tried the Time Machine restore with no luck. The second monitor was still flashing away. Also tried Disk Utility to verify the disk then applied the Combo update. Again no luck.
The only way I was able to fix it was by wiping and reinstalling Snow Leopard from the installation disk. The monitor worked fine until I installed the 10.6.5. update and it went back to the same thing.
I wiped everything again and did the combo update back to 10.6.4. Now everything's working just as it should.
Sounds to me like it's a driver issue... Is there a way to feed back to Apple my model numbers and the problems I'm having? (other than sitting on the phone for hours)

  • MONITOR ISSUE WITH FLASH CS3 (again)

Hello, me again with the same issue..still
    Just to recap
After publishing my files, my site appears Ok on large monitors like 23 inch. Everything just work fine. The main window is 1024/728 pixels.
But, the top of the site gets  chopped up on laptops. about 10 cm from the top. No way to redraw the window. There are scrolling  bar on the right hand side but they do not allow you scroll up or down enough.. As all the navigation buttons are at the top, you are stuck with nowhere to go.
I have added a line of code
stage.align = StageAlign.TOP; but it does not help.
I have also tried reducing the percentage in the publishing window by 50% just to see.
It makes no difference on laptops.
Hope someone  can help before I have to redo the site
    Regards
    Michel

  • Performance/Scalablity issues with NW APIs

    Hello,
We have the following business scenario for one of our clients.
    1.  The Client has an SAP ECC system for order mangement
    2.  The Client has multiple Marketing assocaites who, want to place orders. These MAs are equiped with VB/.net application from where they want to reach ECC
    3.  The cummilative order volumes for a day can be upto 10000+ orders.
    4.  Each order would have around 40 line items.
We trying to expose ECC order creation via a Rest Web Service and use SAP NW Gateway for the same.
The question which we have is whether the Gateway APIS can support such volumes or would there be scalablity/Performance issues.
Any pointers would be appreciated.  Is there a business case available which shows the usage of the NW APIS for such scenarios.
    Regards,
    Abhishek

    Hello Abhishek,
What kind of order management scenario the customer is going to use? Is it Sales order?
We have a sizing guide for Gateway 2.0 that located on SMP and can befound here:
    www.service.sap.com/sizing --> sizing guidelines --> solutions & platform u2013 new structure  SAP NetWeaver.
This guide does not contain the information for all possible scenarios, but you should be able to find a scenarios/flows that can be compared to the required one.
In general, Gateway provides scalable and stable platform that definitely can support the required load. But in order to provide this load, the Gateway server has to have sufficient Hardware (SAPS, memory, disk) that is descibed in the sizing guide.
For any additional question please send me an email or just call me.
    Best Regards,
    David

  • Monitor issues with Macbook Pro and Thunderbolt

having issues getting my HP 2311 monitor to work on thunderbolt cable to DVI, help?
It keeps freezing computer, or going blue screen.

    Concerning this comment:
I know that neither the adapter nor the VGA cable have a problem since I connected the computer to my 1080p TV and it worked just fine...
I would like to point out that 1080p has a lower pixel clock than will 1920 x 1200. So it could be the stability problem is only present when the pixel clock is at the high end of the range.
You could return the adapter and try another. A new one might have better margins. Another thing you could try is to use a utility like SwitchResX to lower the pixel clock and see if stability improves.

  • Duel Monitor issue with video in full screen mode

Hi, im not sure if this is the right forum but here is my question
I have an external monitor connected to my MacBook Pro 13" model...i want to be able to have a video in full screen on my external monitor but still use my laptop to do work and browse the web
However, ever time i put it in full screen mode it blackens my laptop screen
how do i stop this from happening

I've tried moving the menu bar to the monitor...didnt work
ive tried playing the video on my mac but it just blackens the monitor
What do you mean by the adaptor - i have what ever software etc that came with the mac...and then from apple i bought the mini display port to VGA adaptor...the monitor is a new LG W2261 Full HD...currently i am connect via the blue VGA cable
it works if im playing games full screen...i just have to move the menu bar in the arrangement option...but it doesnt work for videos
i havent tried another monitor cos i dont have one - but i did try another account and its the same effect
surely it should be simple - what if i was to do a powerpoint presentation connect to a TV or projector, normally you can see your screen for the separate controls which the other displays the presentation

  • External monitor issues with new OS

Since switching to the new OS Lion I can't get my external monitor to work through my Toshiba docking station.  It used to work??

I have to use an external monitor with my macbook pro because the screen stopped working a couple months ago. I think the problem with the screen is just a loose connection for the light source because the computer works fine otherwise.  The repair people in town say that it's a bad logic board which will cost 700 euros to fix so I've been using it closed with the monitor and a bluetooth keyboard and trackpad.  I installed 10.9.2 the other day because I had been using 10.6.8 and there was some software I wanted to use but it needed 10.7 or later. I just assumed 10.9 was safe or better than 10.7 or 10.8 and I didn't do any research or even try to buy or DL them because the links on the apple site led me to 10.9 and I just blindly followed.  So NOW when I open the lid to my macbook pro, the menu at the top of the monitor goes gray and the monitor flicks off for a second, and when it comes back all the running applications have vanished from the desktop, (all the open windows) and I can't type, scroll, mouse.  When I close the lid it works ok, but I really like the isight camera and I think the microphone is better than the one on my external camera, so it was nice to still be able to use them.
I chatted with someone at apple for a while and he told me to erase my HD and install it again. He said the problems were because I installed it on top of an old OS and that a fresh install will fix all the problems.  I have an empty partition on my mbp and I'm about to try to install on that drive and see if it makes a difference, but I don't totally trust that guy.  I read the transcript of the chat and he gave me a lot of conflicting info.  Does anyone know if it makes a difference to install os 10.9.2 on a totally blank drive, or will the problems on the other partition corrupt everything else?
