Performance of the OEM 10g

Hi, I'm running oem 10.1.0.2 and some screens in the enterprise manager web frontend have ridiculous response times. For example, when I want to see the list of tablespaces I have to wait roughly 10 min until the list comes up. Other examples are: screens to maintain archive logs and backup sets. Does anybody have similar observations and solutions for these issues?
Thanks in advance
wn.ibs

That's the spec of the machine where the Oracle-Server is running on.
The OEM webapp is started from XP clients, but it doesn't matter which hwspec the client has, the response times for the tasks is the same no matter where I start the browser.
The most obvious (and suspicious) place is the Administration/Storage section of the OEM GUI:
1st entry "Control Files": fast response
2nd entry "Tablespaces": up to 15 minutes
3rd entry "Datafiles": up to 15 minutes
4th entry "Rollback segments": fast response
5th entry "Redo Logs": fast response
6th entry "Archive Logs": fast response (which is interesting, because the screen to MAINTAIN them in the OEM-Maintenance menu takes ages to respond)
7th entry "temporary tablespaces": fast response
I have no clue what the hell is going on here.

  • Monitor the OEM 10g from Windows or Solaris

    Hi,
I would like to monitor one instance Oracle 10g that is running on Solaris 5.10. I toolk the url (INFO: >>>>>>>>>>> The Database Control URL is http://zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz:1158/em <<<<<<<<<<<) on the file emca_2010-08-27_05-32-20-PM.log.
Here my two questions about this:
first - I'm now on my Windows where I like to monitor my instance that is running on Solaris. I just put the url on my browse, but it can't open the url. The ping on the solaris is working. Any idea about the reason of why I can't access my instance with this url?
second - I'm using the exceed tool to access the solaris. My problem on the Solaris is that I don't know how start the browser there. If you know, can you tell me, please.
The output of the emctl status of dbconsole or agent is that they are running.
    Thanks in advance,
    Serge

    Dear 791633,
    Please see the emctl port number;
    $ emctl status dbconsoleYou should try different names to resolve it on the browser like ;
    http://ip_address_here:1158/em
http://host_name_here:1158/emOf course the host name should be known on the windows box.
    Hope That Helps.

  • Manually configure the Oracle 10g EM dbconsole

    Hi,
I need to configure manually the OEM 10g installend on Unix. I don't have the dbsnmp and sysman passwords.
What can I do to reconfigure the OEM?
    Tks for your assistance,
    Serg

I guess you need to change password of sysman and dbsnmp.
Use Enterprise Manager Configuration Assistant (emca) to confgure or reconfigure your EM.

  • OEM 10G add-on packs

I have installed OEM 10G grid control and the OEM 10G agents on a number of Sun/SOLARIS servers. I would like to access the diagnostics and tuning pack for OEM 10G and don't know how to do it. I read some other messages posted on this forum and it sounds like both packs are NOT automatically installed as part of the OEM 10G install. Are they installed and I just need to have license keys to enable them or are they indeed separate products that need installed and if so where do I find them?
    Thanks
    Randy Garverick

No such thing. Its all installed under OEM Grid Control.
First time you run the product you get warnings not to use stuff that you are not licensed for.
You may be confusing the OEM Database Control that gets installed with 10g DB .. it isnt the same oa OEM Grid Control.

  • How to install OEM 10g using an existing database on another host

    Hi,
I've created a 10g database (on host solaris_x86) which I like to use for the OEM 10G GC (on host linux_x86).
If I install OEM using existing DB, then the installer expect the database is running locally.
If I install OEM using new DB, then the installer complains that I've less then 1GB memory.
Does somebody know how to solve this?

Something is wrong ... Remote database works fine.
we are using Tru64 OMS against Windows DB.

  • OEM 10G -- how to print the output of a table in a html report

    Hi everyone,
I am trying to print the out of a particular table from the DB using OEM but having some hard time to do so, does any one know the way. Thanks for reading.
    Oracle version: 10.2
    OS: Windows xp
    Regards,
    katheri

after login to the OEM ,
you want the rows of the table or structure of the table?
you can find administration tab top of the page,
again you database objects -> tables
new web page will open -> there you have to enter schema name and table name -> you will get the list of table and then click to view , data types and sizes and all..

  • OEM 10g Agent

    Hi,
I am running 3 apps in one server & 3 db's in another server.
Do I need 3 X 3 separate OEM 10g agent software to be installed on both server or 1 installation of agent home is enough to monitor these 3 dbs in single server?
If one agent is need to monitor all the 3 dbs then how to configure the single agent for all the 3 dbs & apps.
    Regards,
    Indraneel

Agent performs server level monitoring, so you don't need to install multiple agents to monitor multiple DBs on a single server.
how to configure the single agent for all the 3 dbs & apps.If you know how to configure for a single database, then this should not be a problem. Please refer documentation for this.
    Regards,

  • How to get performance statistics like OEM console 9i

    Hi All Gurus,
I am having trouble getting the server load and seeing different session's statistics. As we all know, in OEM 9i java console, we were able to see the following useful columns for all the active sessions:
    CPU_TIME, PGA_MEMORY, PHYSICAL_DISK READS, LOGICAL READS, etc.
But in OEM 10g java colsole, there are no such columns (I dont know why), for each session, the 10g console only gives basic info like, USER_NAME, OSUSER, MACHINE NAME, LOGON TIME, etc, but no tuning statistics.
So, I was looking the dynamic performance views to see all these information. But I am confused, there are a number of views; they are v$sql, v$sqlearea, v$sql_workarea, v$sqlstats, v$session, v$sesstat, v$open_cursors, etc.
Can somebody explain to me what are the relationships between them and exactly which ones are actually needed to produce the columns like those in OEM 9i. I am not sure does v$sql represent one sql statement or v$sqlarea?, how they are related to v$session? lot of confusions!!!! pls help. Thanks in advance.

  • How to improve Performance of the Statements.

    Hi,
I am using Oracle 10g. My problem is when i am Execute & fetch the records from the database it is taking so much time. I have created Statistics also but no use. Now what i have to do to improve the Performance of the SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE Statements.
Is it make any differents because i am using WindowsXP, 1 GB RAM in Server Machine, and WindowsXP, 512 GB RAM in Client Machine.
Pls. Give me advice for me to improve Performance.
    Thank u...!

What and where to change parameters and values ?Well, maybe my previous post was not clear enough, but if you want to keep your job, you shouldn't change anything else on init parameter and you shouldn't fall in the Compulsive Tuning Disorder.
Everyone who advise you to change some parameters to some value without any more info shouldn't be listen.

You need to install the remote agents on each of your database servers. Once you do that it auto discovers back to the oem console. -- be sure you are using oem grid control and not oem db control

  • Performance Report using OEM-11g

    Hi All,
Is there any way to get the Monthly Database performance report using OEM Grid Control... I am able to grab only one week data in Historical option....
    Thanks In advance

I have the same problem in OEM 11g, the calendar on the Performance tab - Historical selection - only shows "January 0" and can not be changed...a bug?
    Oracle 11.2.0.2.0 database on AIX.
Using OEM Cloud 12c on some test instances again 11.2 on AIX and it works fine there.
