Performance self-evaluation

My company has changed its methods of performance review to incorporate
the labor-saving (for those who matter) step of having employees
evaluate themselves. I know that many of you have had to wrestle with
this very issue, and because you are the smartest group of people
around, I know I am turning to the right advisors when I ask you: What
is the cleverest and most professional way of stating that you are doing
the work of three to four people, with fewer resources than were
available to you a decade ago, and therefore the fact that "the lights
are still on" is a testament to your ability and general staunchness?

I used to have a Mordac cartoon taped to my door. Hehe.

I've worked for some that did - and they were great companies to work
for. It's the ones that think technology never fails without human
intervention that you need to be extremely wary of.

I had a lot more to say about it than that. I've told the story here
before about that - I was scheduled for a sponsored trip to N+I that
year, and the employer was going to make me take vacation time for the
trip. The excuse given was "if the plane crashes, our insurance would be
responsible for paying out, and since we're not paying for the trip, it'd
just be a mess to sort it out." Yeah, because planes between SLC and Las
Vegas crash every other day. They had apparently never heard of a nifty
little legal thing called a "waiver of liability".
So when they decided to *suspend me without pay* (for their failure to
listen to me), they pitched my ability to go to N+I without buring
vacation time as a "silver lining".
So I went. I learned stuff. I then refused to use what I learned on the
job. Didn't stay much longer after that - one instance of "Oh, you know,
I talked to 3Com at N+I about something like this, but I don't remember
now what they told me."
I was a *lot* younger (and far less wise) then. But it did feel good
to be able to say that (at the time).
When I left (over a different issue - a very poor manager to doled out
blame and grabbed all the praise for the team's work), I left with
nothing to go to - and even though I nearly lost my house because of the
lack of work, having *nothing* to go to was an improvement in
circumstances. That place was "the underworld" to work at.

Yep, that's excellent advice. Those who could be identified as "Mordac,

  • Self-evaluation, Performance Management

    Hi,
I need help to solve a problem. I'm implementing the Performance Management module, and the process can be one the following:
    - manager appraisal for his employees
    - or the employee (appraisee) does his self-evaluation, and after the manager could accept it or not.
If the manager does not accept the evaluation from the appraisee, he creates the final appraisal.
So I configured one form, based in standard appraisal, and when I try to create my self-evaluation, in R3 the form appears, but in portal the appraisal form only appears to the manager, it doesn't appear to the appraisee.
    Can anyone help me, please?
Thanks in advance for any help.

    hi
check the status flow of the template u have designed.
And also check what all buttons that come in the first page on portal when manager opens the appraisal. In your case the template may be needed to opened first by the manager then save , it will go to the concerned employee , then come back for ratings.

  • Perform VENDOR EVALUATION for MORE THAN ONE VENDORS at a time

    Hello all,
Please guide for any process where i can perform Vendor Evaluation for MORE THAN ONE vendors AT A TIME.
At my location there are around thousand vendors, which are to be evaluated, and difficult to perform the evaluation process one-by-one.
    (ME61/ME62/ME63)
Detailed replies with various possibilities would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Joy Ghosh

The vendor evaluation for some thousand vendors at the same time has already been in SAP long before they developed LSMW. The purpose of LSMW is to load data from a legacy system, of course you can (mis-)use it for a lot other things.
But you should not always use LSMW if you are to lazy to go thru the SAP standard menu to find a transaction like ME6G
There you define a job that runs RM06LBAT report.
You first have to define a selection variant for this report. this can be done in SE38 by entering the report name, select variant, clicking display, then entering a name for the variant and clicking Create.

I am trying to use my IPAD to video students in my conducting class, then email them the video for self evaluation.  However, many of the clips are too long to send.  Is there a way I can compress the clips and still send them via email so they can open and them using Quicken?
    Muzakmn

It depends on the clips' content, their current format, and how much you would need to compress them, but in most cases and with most email systems, it's difficult to impossible to compress a clip enough to be able to get it through the attachment size limits of most email providers and still have the video be comprehensible. You'll probably need to find a web site or other method where you could post the videos for download by the students.
You can try compression and trimming, though, and see if you can get the video small enough to email. An attachment often has to be 3MB or less to go through, though it depends entirely on the email systems on both ends. If you look to the right under "more like this" you'll find similar threads on the subject.

  • Dimension tabs Performance vs Evaluation order

    Hi All,
    We use planning 9.3.0.1.
What is the difference between Performance settings vs Evaluation order? What I know is that if we have to set hour glass/ hour glass on stick we need to change the order of the dimensions in Performance settings tab.
Any information will be very helpful.

does a mac perform self diagnostics during sleep mode? I was told it does about 10 years ago.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2319
Russa, from the KB article you linked notice that those maintenance scripts are no longer invoked by cron. They are invoked by launchd:
    Additional Information
The tasks are scheduled for 03:15 to 05:30 in your computer's local time zone. This is described further in "Mac OS X: Unexplained Disk Activity Produced by 'find' Process." These tasks do not run if the computer is shut down or in sleep mode. If the tasks do not run, it is possible that certain log files (such as system.log) may become very large in Mac OS X v10.5 or earlier.
Therefore no user intervention is required, unless you are running Mac OS X "Leopard" or earlier.
It may seem overly pedantic to bring this up but this common misconception has a tendency to lead people into believing a Mac requires the user to perform maintenance over and beyond what OS X already accomplishes by default.
As others have written, a Mac takes care of its own housekeeping. It is best to simply let it work as designed.

Could you pls advice me to resolve this issue.

    Hi Ana10,
Are you using this digitizer with NI VideoMaster? if not you should probably post this in the Digitizer forums. That said I would suggest using the self calibrate function in MAX for this device rather than the LabVIEW API method just so that you can rule out any errors in correctly configuring the digitizer for self cal in LabVIEW. Also you should ensure that all inputs are disconnected before performing a self cal. If this still results in an error in calibration you could refer to the following document or arrange to return the digitizer to NI for external calibration.

Thank for you reply and correct me if I am wrong.

  • Customizing Self Registration Form

    Hi,
We have a scenario where when a user comes to perform self registration on OIM, we have to take different fields as input based on the user type. For example if the user is an external contractor we want to take input fields 1 and 2, and if the user is an internal employee the user would be required to input information in fields 3 and 4. Is there any way we can control it through the Self Request Dataset XML. I have already added all the required fields in the XML, however right now it asks for all the information irrespective of the user type.
Can anyone guide how to tackle this?
    Thanks.
    UZ

Well obviously modifying the existing JSP will be a better solution because in that case you will just need to merge the existing logic with your new one. The best thing I get to think for it is the following only:
    1) Create a class which holds your logic for UserID validation.
    2) Create a new button in JSP as required. For the onclick action give a call to above class and then based on the results, display another jsp as a popup. This new jsp will be either of the following:
    - SUCCESS. The userID you selected is a vlaid one. Click Proceed.
    - ERROR. This UserID has already been used. Select a new one or slect from tne following options. Now show all the possibilities as radio button. Click Proceed.
Well that is the solution I would have done.
    Thanks
    Sunny

  • How to have continouse performance testing during development phase?

I understand that for corporate projects there are always requirements like roughy how long it can take for certain process.
Is there any rough guideline as how much time certain process will take?
And is there anyway i can have something like JMeter that will do constant monitor of the performance as i start development?
Can go down to method level, but should also be able to show total time taken for a certain module or action etc.
I think it is somthing like continuous integration like cruise control..but is more for performance continouse evaluation..
    Any advice anyone

Just a thought: how useful would continuous performance testing be? First off, I wouldn't have the main build include performance tests. What if the build fails on performance? It isn't necessarily something you'll fix quickly, so you could be stuck with a broken build for quite some time, which means either your devs won't be committing code, or they'll be comitting code on a broken build which kind-of negates the point of CI. So you'd have a nightly build for performance, or something. Then what? Someone comes in in the morning and sees the performance build failed, and fixes it? Hmmm, maybe your corporate culture is different, but we've got a nightly metrics build that sits broken for weeks on end before someone looks at it. As long as the master builds are OK, nobody cares. Given that performance problems might well take several weeks of dedicated time to fix, I reckon they're far more likely to be fixed as a result of failing acceptance tests, rather than the CI environment reporting them
    Just my opinions, of course

  • 10g Evaluation and License

    hello
I am trying to downloaded 10g and installed for self evaluation. Last time someome told me that I have to get through Enterprise Manager Licensing screen before I am able to use it.
Can someone please advise me if there is any price for evaluation download and if the licenssing screen does force then can I accept it without implications.
    Thx

Beg to differ - For simplicity, I always download for teaching Oracle and often I have the students change file locations and configure language settings.
The downloaded software is the full version. No limitations, no crippling, no expiration. The downloaded version is identical to the CD pack. I've proven this to my satisfaction by using diffs across the 9iR2 version. WHich is the reason I am happy with the downloaded version.
The license is the only difference - you are not permitted to put the stuff downloaded (or installed from CD) in to production without a production license, and the default download license is the developer's license.
Note that you can not get patches unless you have a trial or production license. But that is not a limitation of the downloaded software.

  • ACI Evaluation and DPS

Some of our ACIs have historically used IP address/network to control access to certain data.
On putting DS instances behind DPS, the DS ACIs respond to the DPS IP address rather than the client's.
Is there a way to either (1) configure DPS to "pass-through" the client's IP address, or (2) have DPS perform ACI evaluation?
Would the latter be an ACI Storage Repository?
    Thanks.
    Tom P.

    Hi Tom,
Unlike the HTTP protocol, there is no standard way to pass the original client IP address to the directory server with LDAP.
DPS can take advantage of client IP addresses in 2 different ways:
First, you can classify incoming traffic into different "groups" using the "connection handler" feature based (amongs others) on the client IP address. Then policies (e.g target servers to use, or administrative limits to use) are applied based on group menbership.
( more on connection handlers and IP criteria at [http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-4809/fnkbx?l=en&a=view|http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-4809/fnkbx?l=en&a=view]
Second, you can configure ACIs on the DPS side, based on client IP addresses: DPS supports ACIs similar to the ds aci, but unlike ds acis, aci definitions are stored and evaluated on the proxy side. Some restrictions apply regarding proxy acis but IP-based acis are supported. ( more on DPS acis at [http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-4809/virtual-aci?l=en&a=view|http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-4809/virtual-aci?l=en&a=view] . The doc is a bit misleading in the sense acis can be applied on any kind of data view, including plain old LDAP data views, not only "virtual" data views.
    Hope this helps

  • Vendor Evaluation:Reason for ZERO SCORE CALCULATION for SOME CRITERIA

In performing Vendor evaluation few vendors get ZERO as the SCORE for some of the criteria.
    At our location,
            1. WEIGHING KEYS
                        EP - Equal weighting
                        UP - Unequal weighting
            2. EVALUATION CRITERIA
                       11 - Price
                       22 - Quality
                       33 - Delivery
                       44 - Service
I would like to know the internal procedure of data collection of any vendor for calculating the SCORE for any CRITERIA.
Thus would be able to understand the reason for ZERO SCORE calculation in any CRITERIA for any vendor.
Edited by: Joy Ghosh on Feb 20, 2009 10:04 AM

    Hi,
In vendor evaluation system gives zero score if  no transaction has been run with respect to this vendor in the spcified criterias.
    1. If no purchase Order is generated with respect to this vendor for a material system will give zero score for price criteria and delivery criteria.
    2. If QM module is not active in the system it will show the quality score as zero.
    3. If services are not maintained for the vendor then it will give zero price for services.
