Performances descresed using ABAP OO
Hi experts,
in a loop I call a FM in wich there are a lot of CALL METHOD. Something like this:
DO n times.
CALL FUNCTION 'my_function'
ENDDO.
In the function "my_function" there are a lot of instruction like this:
DATA: my_istance type ref to my_class.
create object my_istance.
CALL METHOD....
I have this problem, at the first steps of loop the FUNCTION work in few time, this time is increased during the next steps of loop.
There are no query that impact on running time during the steps execution.
Can someone explain me if there is a reason for this?Can it be a store memory problem or something concerning memory allocation of object instances?

Hello Andrea,
I think this may impact the performance of the function. I am not 100% sure what exactly is causing the performance degradation. An ABAP trace would be necessary to see that. It can be some internal tables that contain references to the created objects, it can be something else. In addition, as far as I know, there is also a garbage collector that is taking care of freeing memory, it may also influence performance, although I'm not sure.

1. Avoid using SELECT...ENDSELECT... construct and use SELECT ... INTO TABLE.
2. Use WHERE clause in your SELECT statement to restrict the volume of data retrieved.
3. Use FOR ALL ENTRIES in your SELECT statement to retrieve the matching records at one shot.
4.Avoid using nested SELECT and SELECT statements within LOOPs.
5. Avoid using INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF. Instead use INTO TABLE.
6. Avoid using SELECT * and select only the required fields from the table.
7. Avoid Executing a SELECT multiple times in the program.
8. Avoid nested loops when working with large internal tables.
9.Whenever using READ TABLE use BINARY SEARCH addition to speed up the search.
10. Use FIELD-SYMBOLS instead of a work area when there are more than 200 entries in an internal table where some fields are being manipulated.
11. Use MOVE with individual variable/field moves instead of MOVE-CORRESPONDING.
12. Use CASE instead of IF/ENDIF whenever possible.
13. Runtime transaction code se30 can be used to measure the application performance.
14. Transaction code st05 can be used to analyse the SQL trace and measure the performance of the select statements of the program.
15. Start routines can be used when transformation is needed in the data package level. Field/individual routines can be used for a simple formula or calculation. End routines are used when you wish to populate data not present in the source but present in the target.
16. Always use a WHERE clause for DELETE statement. To delete records for multiple values, use SELECT-OPTIONS.
17. Always use 'IS INITIAL' instead of equal to '' because null for a character is '' but '0' for an integer.

This however will not make much difference to your problem. I suggest you put more of the code into subroutines and look at the se30 output as tyo which subroutines are actually taking most of the time. Please post the results and the subroutines which take the longest. -

I have requirement such that i need to update certain key figures in DSO after certain time.
for eg. say record with key a is loaded to DSO and currospoding key figure was loaded with value 10
after few days because of certain parameters changing in system i need to modify key figure value.
currently i am doing same using 1 self transformation i.e. by loading same data again in same DSO.
Amount of data is very huge and causing performance issues in system.
now A is not key but i need to modify record for few combinations which apperar multiple times in DSO.
Same DSO data is loaded into Cube regularly.
I may need to update data after gap of few weeks as well.
This design will be used as template and needto keep whole logic generic.
So wring Function module can make it generic.

Read Infopackage selection from a table using ABAP
Hello Experts,
I have a flat file consisting of 3 columns which I want to use as selection fields for the Infopackage. Now, is it possible to load this flat file to an ODS or a master data table and then write some ABAP in the Infopackage to read the values of the columns and populate the selection fields.
This is what I want: The columns of the flat file are - Company Code, Doc number, Fiscal Year
Now, I loaded this file into a tables (around 2 million records) and then use ABAP to populate the entire file into the selection tab of the Infopackage.
What would be the best approach for this?

It's possible in theory. Just one thing, too many selections in an InfoPackage may not work (I remember about 1,000 or 10,000, not very sure).
I'd like suggest loading a range rather than so many selections. For example, say you have below documents:
1000
1001
1005
1010
Then just load from 1000 to 1010, and create a start routine in your update rule/transformation. There you can do this:
1. select records from the table where you store flat file, using the same selection (1000 to 1010)
2. For every records in DATA_PACKAGE, using READ TABLE statement to check whether that record exist in the table. If not exist then simply delete it from DATA_PACKAGE
I think that would have much better performance. Let us know if you have further questions.

you can use the command GETTAB to access single db records.
Full specified or partitial specified keys can be use at GETTAB. It will return always only one record, also if a couple could match your selection.
For more advanced scenarios you can also use eCATTs Inline ABAP. In a block between the commands ABAP. ENDABAP. you can code ABAP statements, e.g. SELECT ... INTO TABLE ...
eCATT script parameters of type 'V' defined in that script using ABAP/ENDABAP will be transfered into the ABAP block and back to script after ABAP perform.

2. Declare Workarea separately,since Internal table defined along with header line is Obsolete in OO Context.Its better and more robust to fill the itab and fetch the values from itab using a separate Workarea rather than the header line... So avoid header lines...
3. When defining an internal table, follow this way ....
Define a Linetype (Field String) using the TYPES Statement

Then define a Table type using TYPES Statement...

Using ABAP FM in hana enviroment

I am quite beginner to HANA,while reading about the process of creating procedures(ABAP) in HANA,this comes in my mind that can we call FM of abap in hana procedures?If we can, then BAPI's can also be called in hana procedures?Hi Pankaj,
HANA modelling (use of HANA views or Stored procedures) was primarily introduced to push the code down from Application layer to HANa d/b layer and in turn to reduce the load on the Application server.
Typical use cases for ABAP on HANA would be any ABAP program/report has any data intensive calculations and has Performance issues while handling huge amounts of data (few tables may run into Million records). Within these programs, one can identify hot spots (that typically take a very long time for execution) by using SAP Tools and model this part of code through Code push down by creating HANA artifacts - HANA views or Stored procedures and consume these back in the original ABAP program. This will improve performance of the ABAP program to a great extent.
Hence it does not make sense to have the possibility of calling Function Modules or BAPIs (coded in ABAP) in hana procedures, and hence it is technically not feasible to do so. Alternately , you can create the logic of the FM and/or BAPI if required in the HANA artifacts itself, depending on the business requirement.

Synchronizing Two Custom Z Tables Using Abap Program

My requirement is Synchronizing two custom z tables using abap program me.
I have vendors in two tables, i have to select the common vendors from first which are existing in second table also.
In first table each vendor can have more than one supplier types in one field only. In second table these supplier types are divided into
different fields.
My requirement is I have to check supplier types in first table and i have to pass X to corresponding supplier types in second table vendor.
I have to pass X value for each depending in Second table depending upon supplier type in first table.
. How to do it can any one suggest with code.

Imho, you need to get (meaning, extract into separate fields) the different supplier types from Table1 first. Your key for Table1 is the vendor no, which is also the key in Table2 (or the key for Table2 is Vendor no & Type).
For better performance, better select multiple/all required entries from Table1 instead of doing a select endselect.
Depending on the format of the vendortypes in Table1, put them in a new itab (for our purpose named Table1New where vendor no & type are the only 2 fields. For example, if the type length is fixed to 2 chars, or divided by space,... use your coding accordingly.
Next step is to select all vendor no's in Table2 which you have selected in Table1. If in Table2, the vendor no is the only key (and the all vendor types are filled in a single record), then loop check the vendor types from Table1New against the types in Table2.
If the key of Table2 is vendor no & vendor type, then do a read table for the key.
The logic in pseudo-code:
Select from Table1 into table. If you'd like to limit the selection size, add package size statement.
extract the vendor types in to itab Table1New.
Select the vendor & types from Table2 by using the for all entries option (better performance).
loop at Table1New
check in Table2:
if the unique key is vendor no: check all fields for the vendor type from Table1New
if the unique key combo is vendor no & type: check by using a read table.
If not found => add entry to Table2
endloop.
endselect Table1 (when using package size)
I guess the most difficult step is to extract the types from Table1 into separate fields, all the rest seems straight forward. Please keep in mind the itab type definitions for a better performance.

Go to IUUC_REPL_CONTENT select the applicable schema configuration name.click on "Select Configuration" button.
you could see all the tables that are in replication.
select the required table and then click on "edit settings for selected tables".
in the next screen select "IUUC_***_RUL_MAP" tab . here we hve the option to insert line of code or abap include as per the requriement.
please refer the techincal manual of SLT as well for more detailed information on advanced replicaitons within SLT.

Problem with interactive forms using ABAP
Hi all,
I am trying to create an interactive adobe form using ABAP in ECC 6.0. But while execute the form, it is creating an error saying that

But i was able to create adobe interactive form using WebDynpro and its working perfectly. But the problem is while using ABAP method.

Interactive Forms based on Adobe software is SAP's new solution for forms development. Its first release has the focus on interactive use of forms. High-volume printing is supported in principle, but - being a new solution - the performance has not yet reached the same level as Smart Forms or SAPscript, two established solutions that had years to grow. Interactive Forms is the only solution that will continue to be enhanced with new features, while SAPscript and Smart Forms will be supported without limitations.
When (or if) to move to Interactive Forms depends on your requirements. For interactive forms usage, i.e. the new functions, you have no choice, as the existing solutions don't support it. High-volume print scenarios need to be carefully analyzed to see whether your concrete requirements can be met at this point.
However, it is possible to move to Smart Forms and design your forms in such a way that a migration at any point in the future would be but a small step. Smart Forms offers from Web AS 6.40 a migration wizard to Interactive Forms. Technically, everything can be migrated, but we recommend against things like ABAP program nodes, for example.
You are not forced to ever go to Interactive Forms if you don't want to. It really depends on whether your client needs any of the new features in Interactive Forms. Also, if they are currently working with JetForms, they could enquire with Adobe directly what migration path they offer to the joint solution.
It is impossible to make a blanket statement on what needs to be done in each of the applications using a form for output. Despite the same underlying technology, forms handling has always been a decision for each SAP application: Some do it through customizing, some through coding, some in yet anither way.
What I CAN say from a technology pespective is that all applications are in the process of creating their forms based on Interactive Forms so that by 2007 pretty much all SAP forms will be PDF-based. Obviously, each application does it within the framework of their application - but they all use Interactive Forms.
By the way, be aware that in ERP 2004 this forms solution is subject to a limitation for high-volume printing scenarios as we cannot ensure that ALL customers will be content with the performance in ALL scenarios with this release. (see SAP Note 863893).
To get an overview idea about Adobe forms ,
Using SFP , first you need to create a interface . in interface you can declare the import and export parameters and also the declaration part, coding etc : This is nothing but similar to Function module interface.
And now we have to create the Form which is interactive. Create the form and enter the interface name which you have created in first step, so that the parameters , declarations of fields etc : will be copied and available in the form layout. So that you can drag and drop these declared fields ( dclared fields of interface ) to the layout.
Create the context and layout in the form.
The layout generated can be previewed and saved as PDF output.
Now we need to integrate the driver program and the PDF form to get the final output as per the requirement.
On activating and executing the form you will get a function module name just similar to smartforms.
The driver program needs to call this FM.
