Perfromance impact if mulitple database share the same disk group.

Hi All,
I need help in understanding what would be the performance impact if multiple databases share the same ASM disk group.
Is there any documentation that explains the impact on performance if there is any in doing so.
Your help is very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Ravi.

  • Can multi-interfaces share the same hsrp group id on the c6500?

    configurating hsrp...
    question:
msfc2 supports total 16 hsrp group id,however msfc3 256.How hsrp group Can configurate? How vlans can configurate inside the same group id?

    Hi,
MSFC2 supports only 16 HSRP group duw to the limitaion on PFC2.The new MSFC3 supports 256 HSRP groups as you mentioned above.
The workaround to get over this problem is to use multiple Vlan interface to a single HSRP group like
    Vlan1,3,5,7 in HSRP group 1
Vlan 2,4,6,8 in HSRP group 2.
It works perfectly as already pointed out by Glen.

  • Share the same adressbook

    Hello!
Is it possible to share the same adressbook (group) with different iCloud accounts? I would like to share a group in my adressbook with my wife!
The calender has this beatiful option to share specific calenders!

For iPhoto 09 (version 8.0.2) and later:
    What you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc.
Quit iPhoto in both accounts. Move the Library to the Users / Shared Folder
(You can also use an external HD set to ignore permissions, a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.)
In each account in turn: Double click on the Library to open it. (You may be asked to repair the Library Permissions.) From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.

  • RE: Creation of two oracle database in Single ASM Disk group

IS it possible to create two oracle database in Single ASM Disk group. if it is possible how?.
    Giri

All you have to do is to create a tablespace at the most minimumlevel and your db would become a client of the disk group. Other than that, you can migrate your db tothe disk group and it would be then start using the same disk group shared by another database for its use also.

  • How to share the same Database Connection when using several Task Flows ?

    Hi All,
    I’m using JDev 11.1.1.3.0.
I’m developing ADF Fusion Applications (ABC BC, ADF Faces…)
These applications are deployed on a Weblogic server.
Each application has only one Application Module.
All Application Modules have the same connection type defined: JDBC DataSource : jdbc/GCCDS
    It is working fine.
I’ve also developed Task Flow Applications for small thinks that are reused in multiple main applications.
Each Task Flow Application has also one Application Module with the same connections type as main applications.
All these task flows are deployed to JAR file (ADF Library JAR File) and are reused on my main applications. (drag and drop from the Resource Palette to ADF Regions….).
There are some parameters passed to Task Flows, so that they can filter data depending on which main applications they are called from.
    Everything is working perfectly.
All my main applications are using more and more task flows. Which is nice for the reusability etc…?
    Only ONE PROBLEM: DATABASE CONNECTIONS.
Every Task Flows service made a database connection. So one user may have 10 database connections for the same adf page. And when there are 100 users that are working at the same time, it becomes a problem.
How to share the same database connections for the main applications and all task flows which are used in the main application?
    Best Regards
    Nicolas

    Hi John,
When I open a ADF Library JAR file of one of my task flow. (gcc_tf_recentSites.jar)
    I can see TF_RecentSitesService.xml and TF_RecentSitesServiceImpl.class in gcc_tf_recentSites.jar\mu\gcc\tf\recentSites\model\service folder
    + bc4j.xcfg in gcc_tf_recentSites.jar\mu\gcc\tf\recentSites\model\service\common folder.
    bc4j.xcfg details are

So, it seems that the Application Module is packaged with the task flow....
    Is it normal ?

  • Can multiple threads share the same cursor in berkeley db java edition?

We use berkeley db to store our path computation results. We now have two threads which need to retrieve records from database. Specifically, the first thread accesses the database from the very beginning and read a certain number of records. Then, the second thread needs to access the database and read the rest records starting from the position where the cursor stops in the first thread. But, now, I cannot let these two threads share the same cursor. So, I have to open the database separately in two threads and use individual cursor for each thread. This means I have to in the second thread let the cursor skip the first certain number of records and then read the rest records. However, in this way, it is a waste of time letting the second thread skip a certain of records. It will be ideal for us that the second thread can start reading the record just from the place where the first thread stops. Actually, I have tried using transactional cursor and wanted to let the two threads share the same transactional cursor. But it seems that this didn't work.
Can anyone give any suggestion? Thank you so much!

  • Can Bootcamp and Parallels share the same Windows applications and data?

I'm looking at getting an Intel iMac which will let me throw away my old PC - Yeah!
I will have a couple of Win apps that I will need to hang on to (Quicken - Quicken for Mac is horrible, but that's another tghread). Anyway, can Bootcamp and Parallels share the same Windows applications and data?
My thought would be to allow my wife to access Quicken from Parallels and not have to reboot. She will only need lightweight access and the overhead of running virtualization wouldn't impact her. I, on the other hand, would want to occasionally boot natively into Windows and run the same application with the same datafile. Is this possible?
Thanks and looking forward to joining the MacIntel world!

Thanks for all of the freplies. I suspected that BootCamp and Parallels could not shar ethe same partition, but wanted to verify. To address some of the other posts:
Re: Quicken vs MoneyDance - I looked at MoneyDance a while back and while it is comparable to Quicken for Mac, it isn't comparable to Quicken for Windows (ergo, Quicken for Mac isn't comparable to Quicken for Windows!). But, as I said, that is a topic for another thread!
Re: Using Bootcamp/Parallels for only one app: I actually have several apps that I still need access to on Windows. I work with many business applications than only run/are supported on Windows as well as receive some complex Office documents which Office for Mac cannot handle. Quicken (for Windows 2007) was just the best example of a consumer app where I could see wanting access from both OS X and Windows.

  • Two kids/Two iPods - share the same apps?

I just bought my kids iPods. My daughter already has a gmail that I setup with my information so she has her own AppleID.
They like the same music and games - I would like to be able for them to share music and apps.
How can I do this?? If they share the same AppleID, how will this impact iMessage or Facetime??
Don't they need their own AppleIDs for that??
Please help! I'm dealing with nagging kids!!

Create a NEW account/ID for for each iPod using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. You have to specify a birtdate that results in a n age of at least 13 years.
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
Use the new ID on her iPod but only for:
    Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
    Settings>FaceTime
and Settings>iCloud if you want her to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.

  • Should multiple developers share the same MDS repository?

We are starting a new customizable application using ADF, WebCenter and SOA Suite 11g wondering what is the best practice for MDS repositories. By default JDeveloper seems to use a file-based repository, however we need to take advantage of a database repository. The question is: Can & should multiple developers share the same MDS repository, or do we need to use the RCU tool to create a new repository for each developer? If developers share the same repository I"m wondering what happens to seed customizations if two developers both edit the same thing (like a SOA composite).
    Thanks for your input

Thanks again ... I'm not so worried about packing the customizations in the EAR or MAR, I just hate developers having to manually change adf-config.xml from source control all the time.
I've tried using {oracle.home} and it does not work. This seems to be a bug in JDeveloper, because I print the env variable and verify that it is correct but the deployment still fails.
    In adf-config.xml I have:
    <property value="*${oracle.home}\integration*"
    name="metadata-path"/>
When WLS starts up, I print the env variable and see it is set to: D:\home\fmw\JDEVEL~1
But then when I try to deploy my application I get this:
INFO: MDSException encountered in parseADFConfigurationMDS-00503: The metadata path "D:\home\fmw\jdeveloper\system11.1.1.1.33.54.07\o.j2ee\drs\PriceManagementPOC\adf\META-INF\D:\home\fmw\JDEVEL~1\integration" does not contain any valid directories.
For some reason it seems to be appending the directory of adf-config to the oracle home directory. It's as if the code assumes its a relative path. Looks like a bug to me.

  • Can RAC and RAC One Node share the same servers ?

Does anyone know if it is possible for RAC and the new 11gR2 RAC One Node to share the same set of physical servers i.e. in effect having 2 clusters sharing the same set of servers ( though you could argue RAC One node is a different type of clustering or even that it is not real clustering at all - more instance transporting ).
Or does standard RAC always require exlusive use of the physical servers it is using as its nodes ?
    Any thoughts appreciated

    Hi Jim,
To deploy RAC we need Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a cluster (aka Oracle Clusterware) on top.
What determine if it's Single /RAC /RAC one Node is the Installation of Oracle Database.
So, Oracle Clusterware support on Same Cluster ( RAC/ RAC one Node / Single).
You will need one installation for each Feature.
    e.g on Same Cluster
    ---> Grid Infrastructure GRID_HOME=/u01/app/11.2.0/grid
    --->> RAC one Node /ORACLE_HOME = /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/racone_11203
    --->> RAC /ORACLE_HOME = /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/rac_11203
    --->> SINGLE /ORACLE_HOME = /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_11203
For me make no sense RAC ONE NODE and RAC on same cluster.
Because RAC ONE NODE is a RAC with less feature.

  • HT4865 So who believes Apple should be a bit more cautionary about the sharing of iMessages and other content when several members of a family share the same iCloud account and unknowing can audit each other's iMessages, Contacts, and god only knows what

I think Apple should be a bit more cautionary about iCloud and privacy.  My family shares the same iCloud account as we all enjoy the music we collectively purchase on iTunes; we paid Apple for this feature with some kind of grouped account.  We didn't know, however that this joins our devices so that iMessages, contacts, pictures and just about everything else is shared too.  The unprivate default seems to be to share everything between all devices vs. to allow access by exception or by choice (or by password?).  Sure, when my kids get all my texts I can go figure out why and fix it but that is in my mind the antithesis of privacy and could be quite embarrassing for any family.  I guess it is good for stalking the kids or parents though if they don't know about the partyline approach to privacy.  Maybe a tech solution would be to have the iPhone show somehow the extent of its audience to its user.

No argument from me about the vagaries of using and sharing Apple IDs.  This can lead to unintended consequences, especially in a family situation.
If you're sharing the same ID for FaceTime, you might want to go to Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign in with separate IDs there too.  Otherwise, you'll end up getting each other's FaceTime calls.
Also, if you need to migrate everyone's devices to separate iCloud accounts to keep your synced data separated, you can do this by saving any photo stream photos you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud), choose Keep on My iDevice and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data.  Once everyone's devices are on separate accounts, you can go to icloud.com and delete each other's data from your accounts.

  • How do multiple developers share the same application module

Is there a suggested method for multiple developers to share the same application module? We have 2 developers that will have EOs in the same directory and would like to know how they can share an application module but do development on different pieces of a project.
    Thanks,
    Paula

Try using CVS or any other source control system. Still there are some points to think about before doing big projects, because there are many files which are updated by JDEV without knowledge by the developer. This causes many conflicts using a version control system like CVS.
If you developers both are working on the server part of the application, I suggest using multiple application modules. See this blogs:
    http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2005/05/27/howGranularShouldMyApplicationModulesBe.html
    http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2005/07/19/nestedApplicationModules.html
On the client side it depends on which technology you are using (struts, swing, jsf, ...).

  • Can two people share the same library?

I installed a new mac mini which we're planning on using as a media hub and as a machine to sync my iphone from.  I want to have a "Server" login on it just for itunes to run the backend for Apple TV.  However, I'd also like my itunes library on my "Personal" login.  Can I share the same library betwixt the two (if put into the Shared folder?) or do I have to set it up in my Personal and then share it to the Server login?  If I do that, don't I have to login to both and run itunes before it'll work?  I'd like to avoid anything like that because I travel often and want something my family can leave on and reboot easily while I'm away, without giving my kids access to my Personal login.

  • Can two Macbook Pro's share the same Itunes folder(all media in Ituens) on an external drive (like Time Capsule)? How and what issues may arise?

Hey, I have two macbook pros (250 gb). They are both running out of space. My first thought was to share an iphoto library off of Dropbox or our Time Capsule. But, I heard that if one file gets corrupted (interenet cuts out, for example) then the whole library gets corrupted. Well, we're full again and now I am wondering if I could move our Itunes folders to our Time Capsule, sync/sort them both so there won't be any duplicates and then use this as a shared itunes library. So first, is this possible? Both computers share the same itunes account.
Second, if I do, and I purchase a song, show, whatever, does it automatically be added to the itunes library on our Time Capsule and then it is available for both computers to access? Or do  I need to "import" it on both?
Third, does the "file corruption" issue listed above pertain to itunes?
I saw a discussion about this but it was form 2008. I am sure things have changed a bit since then.
    Thanks for the help!
    jbh

    No.

  • Can 2 different computer accounts share the same Itunes library?

Does anyone know: Is it possible for two users on the same computer to "SHARE" the same iTunes Library so you don't have to duplicate libraries on the hard disk?
So far I have been having to load 25GB of Music on my wife's account and the same 25GB itunes library on my account.
I have put the single iTunes files in the "PUBLIC" music folder and set that as the default on the ITUNES "Preferences" but still does not work for some reason.
    Thanks

Yes sir, did that but it still has the same problem.
Now when I go to my wife's account (everything identical , playlists, etc. in both accounts) it does not know where to locate the songs. I place it in the default and it works, but as soon as I go back to the other persons account, the default has automatically changed back, and none of the playlists (although still intact) have again lost the location of the actual music (located on in the Public Music folder) very frustrating.
It would seem to be simple.
