Period lot size ?

Dear Friends,
Can somebody put some idea on differences between PERIOD LOT SIZE -AVAILIBILITY DATE
PERIOD LOT SIZE -DELIVERY DATE.
I have gone through white papersu2026..but still not clear to me to such extend.
Thanks in advance,

Thanks Jurgen,
That part was clear to me earlier ............but is it possible for you to make it more clear.
Perhaps I am looking for some example  IE, how system calculate........that will help me more to clear my doubt.
Thanks again

  • Periodic lot size PR not covering the requirement for the periods

    Dear Experts,
I am using customized monthly lot size size key with Periodic lot size procedure and number of periods 3 months.
The MRP is creating one purchase requisitions for all the requirements for the first month only. The second and third month requirements are not included for the purchase requisition quantity. The second and third month requirements are kept opened without any PR.
The planning harizon is 100 days which is more than 3 months. There is no maximum lot size restrictions. But still why the purchase requisition quantity is not included the second and third month requirements.
    Please give your valuable suggestions.

  • Combination of Fixed Lot size and Period lot size

    Dear all
    I have scenario as follows:
    1. My supplier's standard packing size of a raw material is 1000 EA.
    2. I want to follow period based lot size to optimise my order and inventory cost. But I don't want to use dynamic lot size which will propose dynamic quantity.
So my requirement is like I want to fix lot size as 1000 at material master and Period is Week. My proposal quantity must be 5000 EA for the following demand pattern:
    Week 1:1200
    Week 2: 1000
    Week 3: 1100
    Week 4: 1000
System must consider period as well as fixed quantity.
Kindly throw some light on this.
    Advance thanks.

    Hi
1.As you are looking for Weekly demand demand quanityt , you have to assign Weekly Lot Size : WB.
    2. Goto OWD1   and Create a Rounding Profile which will rounds into Weekly Demand quantity for that plant and simulate .
3.Assign this rounding profile in MMR in MRP1
3.DO NOT assing  rounding valu as 1000 .Rather keep it blank
Hope this will solve the problem

  • Use of periodic lot sizing in SNP heuristics

    I am using APO V5.1.
I am using the standard APO SNP heuristic, and have periodic lot sizing working OK, with a 2 week periodic type.
But I want to try and model the fact that certain products are to be produced in 'even' weeks and other products are to be produced in 'odd' weeks.
I thought that the use of different planning calendars for the different products would help here, but I do not think SNP is recognising the planning calendars.
    Any other ideas on this?...

    hI,
Wanted to know if you have checked the option and tryed the same in system since the helptext says the same will not be considered by optimizer but will be considerd by heuristic.
    Period Lot Size
Specifies that a period lot-sizing procedure is used in Supply Network Planning (SNP) and Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS).
    Use
    Use in SNP
This indicator is only used in heuristic-based planning (and not in optimization-based planning). If you set this indicator, the system groups the demand quantities of several consecutive periods together and creates orders to fulfill the quantity of this combined demand.
The period type and number of periods can be entered in the accompanying fields Period Type and No. of Periods. You can set the start time for the grouping in the Lot Size Grp. Start field.
The settings you make in the Lot Size Strategy field govern the period in which the combined demand is placed and the demand fulfillment order is created.
When calculating lot sizes and creating orders, the system considers all the other lot size settings from the location product master, such as minimum and maximum lot size, rounding value, and rounding profile.
Now for the solution you are thinking if possible you can divide the plant in two parts if the materials are accounted differntly and keep two different  factory calendars for the same and go ahead. This may be not a good solution but I thought I can share this with you.
    Hope this can help.

  • MRP Lot Size Difference

    Hi All
In OMI4 ie. MRP lot size procedure i see several MRP lot sizes i.e. EX, WB etc....
But only major difference i find is in terms of scheduling i.e.
    Blank (Requirement date = delivery date), 1 (period start = delivery date), & so on i.e. 2, 3, 4
Can anyone tell how it works?????? What is its significance
Example would be very good for me
    Please suggest
    Rgds

    Hi Vicky,
    Requirement date = delivery date
Planning or procurement proposal will create on req date
    Period start = Delivery date
Planning or procurement proposal will create on period start.
ie, if you use period lot size WB,MB.
WB means weekly lot size ie, on Monday cumulated requirement will create for that week. Same for MB, month end planning proposal will create.
    Period End = Delivery date
ie, if you use period lot size WB,MB.
On Saturday cumulated requirement will create for that week if you use WB. Same for MB.
This concept will not work if you use planning time fence.

  • Function of lot size PB,FS.

    Hello SAP Gurus,
Can you help in understanding the function of lot size PB(period lot size=posting period) and FS (Fixing and Splitting).
I mean i what to know how these lot sizes works. With this also share that where can i get study material on it.
                            Thanking You.

    Hi,
    Lot Size FS :-
When entering the lot size "FS" and in field the qty as fixed the system is splitting up the planned order qty.
For ex qty is 100  the fixed lot size is 25 the sys creates 5 planned orders of 25 each. The total qty now comes to 25
    Lot Size PB :-
In period lot-sizing procedures, the system groups several requirements within a time interval together to form a lot
In PB periods of flexible length equal to posting periods.
Determines how the lot size is calculated for a certain lot-sizing procedure during material requirements planning.
Please go SAP help for details and system configuration in OMI4.

  • Lot Size "WB - Weekly Lot Size"

    Dear All,
I have selected lot size "WB - Weekly Lot Size" for a material.
The Planned week start day is Monday in planned calender.
If i run MRP for the above maintained material it is not flowing the requirment and it is not combined on Monday, it is throing on Tuesday, Thursday and all the other day including MOnday also.
Why is this system is not throwing correctky the requirment on every MOnday.
Is there settings need be done to get this.
Your valuable answer will be appreciated.

Please check your settings in SPRO:
    SPRO > Production > MRP > Planning > Lot-Size Calculation > Check Lot-Sizing Procedure
...here you can check "Scheduling" field (V439A-TERBV) of lot size "WB". And you can check also field V439A-LGTER.
    F1 help for the field:
Scheduling for period lot sizes in short-term area
This indicator defines the time in the period the system is to create the availability date or the start date for the lot for period lot-sizing procedures.
The availability date is the date on which the material, including the goods receipt processing time, is available again. In the MRP list, the availability date is equal to the MRP date.
In in-house production, the start date is the order start date, in external procurement the start date is the release date.
    The following procedures exist:
Availability date equal to requirement date
    Availability date at period start
    Availability date at period end
    Start date at period start
Planned order start date at period start and availability date at period end
With this setting, the in-house processing time in the material master record is ignored.
    Note
The following is valid in all cases:
If the start date lies in the past, the system switches to forward scheduling. The following example illustrates how the system procedes:
The period start is Monday and the period end is Friday. The planned delivery time is 8 days. The indicator for determining the date is set to, "availability date at period end".
Today is Monday, a requirement is planned on Wednesday. The system has to schedule forwards. As the system works using date determination, today's date is not selected as the start date. Instead, the system determines the next period end, and uses backward scheduling to calculate a start date that does not lie in the past. This means that the end date was planned for the Friday of next Week.

  • Reg: lot size and replenishment lead time

    1. please explain about lot size and replenishment lead time.
    2. please also explain about consumption based planing and in steps explain how to perform manual and automatic reorder point(transc code please)

You use the lot-sizing procedure to determine how the system is to calculate the reorder quantity in the planning run.
A lot size defining the lot-sizing procedure is assigned to every material master record applicable to materials planning.
The lot size is defined in Customizing by the combination of the lot-sizing procedure and the lot-sizing indicator.
Three procedures for lot sizing are available:
    o  static lot-sizing procedures
    o  period lot-sizing procedures
    o  optimizing lot-sizing procedures
You use the lot-size indicator to define the procedure.
The following parameters are also available for controlling the lot-sizing procedure:
    o  Short-term and long-term lot size
You can split the lot-sizing procedure into a short-term and a long-term period. This means that you can select one lot-sizing procedure in the near future and a different one in the distant future.
You define the periods in the section of the screen entitled "End of the short-term period/start of the long-term period".
The valid from date of the long-term lot size area is defined via:
       -  a periodicity
       -  a number of periods
The beginning of the long-term period is calculated by taking today's date and adding the number of periods in the future; the long-term planning period then starts on the next complete period.
       Note
For materials that are planned using the short and long-term lot size,
it is recommended that you define a maximum MRP period. Defining the
MRP period has the effect that materials after a certain period are
included in planning even if no changes relevant to the planning run
have occurred. This avoids a situation where order proposals created
with the long-term lot size move into the short-term period because no
changes relevant to MRP have occurred for the material.
You define the maximum MRP period in the step, "Define maximum MRP
period". A material that is planned on a regular basis should also be
provided with an MRP type that contains the indicator for regular MRP.
    o  Scheduling indicator
For period lot sizes, you can use the indicator for scheduling to
       determine whether the availability date;
o  is to be set to the first requirements date in the period
o  or is to be set to the beginning of the period
o  is to be set to the end of the period
o  or whether the period start represents the beginning of the planned
order and the period end represents the availability date (repetitive
    manufacturing)
      Interpretation of the delivery times
For the lot-sizing procedure, you can also define whether the period
start is to be interpreted as the delivery date or as the availability
date using the indicator, "interpretation of the calendar times".
      NOTE
The indicators, Scheduling and Interpr.deliv.times are mutually
      exclusive.
      Indicator for the splitting quota
For the quota arrangements, you can determine whether the requirements
quantities are to be distributed to several items, that is, whether
they are to be split. With the splitting quota arrangement,
requirement quantities are not simply allocated to the smallest quota
rating. Instead, they are distributed among various sources using the
      following formula:
Quantity for source of supply X = Quota of source X * reqmts quantity
    Sum of all quotas
      Overlapping indicator
The overlapping indicator along with the cycle time in the material
master record are used to split the planned orders into several
partial quantities whereby the in-house production time overlaps by
      the cycle time.
      Lot-sizing procedure for make-to-order production
In make-to-order production, you can use the indicator, Lot size for
      make-to-order production to determine whether,
the order quantity is to be calculated using the exact lot size
the order quantity is to be calculated using the exact lot size and
the system is also to take the rounding quantity or the minimum and
      maximum lot size into account
the order quantity is to be calculated using the lot-sizing procedure
      defined for the short-term area
      Maximum stock level variant
The system only displays the Maximum stock level variant field in the
lot-sizing procedure, Replenishing to maximum stock level. The
indicator only has an effect in connection with reorder point planning
taking external requirements into account and in connection with
material requirements planning and controls how the system calculates
      lot sizes.

  • Daily lot size not working for more than 5 days grouping

    Dear All,
I want to create the procurement proposal for 6 days once. So I have created new lot size ZB by copying TB and maintained no of periods as 6.
Assigned the lot size in Material master. After MRP run, the procurement proposal created for every two weeks on Monday. It is not created as expected (6 days once). Is there any other settings needs to be maintained to achieve the requirement?. The same problem happening for the no of periods 7,8,9 also with daily lot size.
I don't want to use the planning calendar for this. Daily lot size is working only upto no of periods as 5.
Could you please someone explain the standard functionality of daily lot size with combination of no of periods?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Ganesh

    Ganesh,
Check if your lot size is something similar to screenshot below. It is important that you have lot sizing procedure as 'Period lot size' and period as 'Daily lot size'
With the above lot size (number of period as 8 days) I can see expected results.

  • Lot sizes in CTM

I'm tring to use fixed lot sizes (or rounding values or min max lot sizes) for raw materials in CTM. But my CTM don't take them into account at all. Lot sizes are specified both at source and destination location products.
    In CTM profile
    Lot Size = "0 Use"
Lot Size for stock Transfers - tried all 3 variants - the result is the same
    What can be wrong?

    Hi,
CTM uses all lot sizes in the location product master except the periodic lot size and the reorder point method. However, CTM uses the lot sizes only for the main output product and not for input products and co-products. For demands in make-to-order production, CTM  does not consider lot sizes.
If you are checking it at input product it doesnt work.

  • /SAPAPO/RRP_PLANNING   calculation requirements lot size period

    Hi all,
In badi:  /SAPAPO/RRP_PLANNING  Method: AFTER_NETTING I want to recalculate the requirement (QUANTITY in CT_REQ_IO) depending on the period type of the lot size ( SAPAPO/MATLOTSZ-PERVR ).
So feg, requirements for 1 product for 1 day, the period type of the lot size = W week -> so I have to summerize all quantities for that product for 1 week.
Is there a function module to do this? Because you can have week but also month, quater, ...
    thanks a lot,
    Caroline,

    Hi,
Please see the BAdi documentation available also one example class is given from which you can use the code whichever is applicable to your requirement.

  • Material Cost Estimate with different lot size.

What happens if the material cost estimate is run twice using different lot sizes each time  (all other parameters unchanged) for the same period?
Will the cost estimate run later overwrites the results from cost estimate run earlier (though the lot size is different)? What is the role of lot size in a material cost estimate?

The costing lot size impacts your cost estimate if you have lot size independent costs (i.e. setup cost).  Those fixed costs are spread over the costing lot sizee to give you a cost per unit..  Larger costing lot sizes can also help you minimize rounding issues.
You can only have one marked cost estimate in a given period.  However, you can create and save a cost estimate as many times as you want as long as you have not marked it for release.  When you save the estimate it will overwrite an existing estimate.  You also have the option of creating multiple estimates under different versions or with different costing variants.

  • Lot size

The parents material lot size is fixed lot size , child component lot size is 2 week lot size.  ( ie. 2 week = 10 Days ).
    question:
If the demand for parent material in month, after MRP run the dependent requirement for child component also getting generate only one planned order.
What are the possibilities if the parent demand in month, child requirement is needed in weekly basis .Any chance to get the child requirement in weekly by changing lot size or any other possibilities.

    Hi,
Thanks for your answer. if we change the lot size for dependent material to weekly , biweekly or fixed etc....
The dependent req. will generate according to the lot size that is absolutely correct. but planned order or purchase req. will create according to the parent demand (ie .Adding of dependant req. what ever falling with in the lot size period and for that quantity planned order or purchase req. is getting created )
Actually my requirement is for the each dependent requirement one planned order should get generate .

  • Lot size Key without splitting Quota

    Hi,
Can any one explain me what is the use of Lot size Key without splitting Quota.
We had created a lot size Key - XY with following seting:-
    1) Lotsize Proceed = P
    2) Lotsize indicator -K
    3) Scheduling =2
    4) No of periods = 1
    5) Splitting Quota = Not checked(blank)
If we had configured this lot size key, what is the benefits of the above setting, What testing need to be done to know whether this lot size key is working perfectly after configuration?.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
If splitting quota indicator not set, then qouta arrangement is not used during planning wrt to selected lot size.
Lot size procedure you selected, it is a periodic lot sizing procedure. Here the system groups several requirements within a time interval together to form a lot.
Lot size indicator  Determines how the lot size is calculated for a certain lot-sizing procedure during material requirements planning. For your selection system creates lot size by refereing to planning calender defined in the system
    Scheduling -
This indicator defines the time in the period the system is to create the availability date or the start date for the lot for period
    lot-sizing procedures.
The availability date is the date on which the material, including the goods receipt processing time, is available again. In the MRP  list, the  availability date is equal to the MRP date.
In in-house production, the start date is the order start date, in external procurement the start date is the release date.
according to your selection - Availability date at period end
    No of periods - 1
Run a complete MRP cycel  to check whether it is working properly or not.
Post the results what you get.

    Pavan
