Periodic mail errors

Can anyone explain why, on both my iPhone and now my new iPad2, I periodically get these bizarre mail error messages telling me that the device is unable to get my mail (usually from my "other" mail account but sometimes from my Gmail account) and that I need to check my settings.  I haven't changed any of the settings in any of my several accounts and if I ignore the error message the next time or two the device goes to check mail it can get it perfectly fine without my having to do anything at all with the mail settings.  sometimes I reboot the device.  I seem to recall there being at least a few threads about this here and that it was some sort of known bug, but with this new interface that Apple has set up I cannot figure out how to actually search for the thread.  I can't say I'm in love with this new interface.
Thoughts, anyone?  Thanks in advance for your help.

I opened a ticket with Yahoo, a day later they came back and advised that they made some changes to my account, but it still does not work.
There is something strange about how Apple and Yahoo communicates, I think there is some exchange in the middle that is causing the problems. The reason for me saying this is the error I got periodically stating that "Cannot Get Mail, The user name or password for imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com is incorrect". Why imap.APPLE.mail.yahoo.com ???
I did however setup a "Other" mail type account using the POP and SMTP settings from Yahoo and it works like a charm now, no more problems and I can now even use a different reply to e-mail address. Only issue might be that you no longer have the Yahoo side custom mail folders on the iPhone, but this is no big deal for me.
For the incoming server I used pop.mail.yahoo.com with my Yahoo username and password (username without @yahoo.com)
For outgoing, SMTP, Hostname I used smtp.mail.yahoo.com with my Yahoo username and password (username without @yahoo.com), SSL = ON, authentication = Password and server port 465
Under advanced settings for outgoing mail server, Use SSL = ON , authentication = Password and server port 995.
I am not claiming that I understand all of the above, but it works. Hopefully this may point you in the right direction.

  • Yahoo Mail - Unable to delete and Cannot Get Mail errors

    A few days ago my Yahoo mail started acting up.
    I keep on getting "Unable to move message" errors when trying to delete mail. The proper folder is selected as the trash folder under settings. Sometimes message do delete however, but mostly they do not.
    I am also getting periodic Cannot Get Mail errors, but mostly I am able to receive mail.
    This leads me to believe that this might be a yahoo issue (I opened a support request with them also) I have deleted the account from my iPhone and recreated it several times, but the problem persist.
    Anybody else having similar issues with Yahoo mail ?

    Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.
    I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
    You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
    iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
    On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
              •          Server name: imap.mail.me.com
              •          SSL Required: Yes
              •          Port: 993
              •          Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
              •          Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
              •          Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
              •          SSL Required: Yes
              •          Port: 587
              •          SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
              •          Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
              •          Password: Your iCloud password
    Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria:  8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers.  If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message.  Go to   http://appleid.apple.com         then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.

    I am trying out a File to mail scenario following the Blog /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/03/07/mail-adapter-xi--how-to-implement-dynamic-mail-address
    I am getting the following error in the File Sender Comm Channel :
    Mail: error occurred: com.sap.aii.af.mp.module.ModuleException caused by: com.sap.aii.messaging.srt.BubbleException: Failed to call the endpoint  [null "null"]; nested exception caused by: java.io.IOException: no sender address specified
    I could also see the payload is empty in the Receiver Mail CC
    Now can anybody help getting me the mail ...

    I was getting the workflow mailer error from R12. I tried to start,but failed......after that I got a confirmation from my client that somebody changed a table, then I checked again  and found Workflow mailer working fine....I didnt get what happened on this...

    I am using LV6.0. Can Measure Period With Error Out be found in the functions panel? If not where it is? If not there can it be imported into LV6.0?

    Are you looking for a specific VI called Measure Period with Error Out.vi or are you asking about any general function that can be used to measure the period of a signal and includes error handling? If you are looking for a specific VI, I'm unaware of it, so I won't be much help there. If you're looking for any function to do it, have you looked at the VIs called Measure Pulse Width or Period.vi or Pulse Width or Period Meas Config.vi? They are located in the Data Acquisition>>Counter palette. The Measure Pulse Width or Period.vi does not include error handling, but it would be extremely easy to add it. The Pulse Width or Period Meas Config.vi DOES contain error handling, but it only configures the counter to measure the period, it doesn't actually measure it. These, of course, are for TTL signals coming into your hardware device. If you are reading waveform data from a file and want to calculate the period of that signal, these won't do much for you. So what exactly are you wanting to take a period measurement on, a physical signal, physical signal data points from a file, or some other method?

  • Undeliverable mail - error message

    When I try to send mail, I get an Undeliverable mail error message/response. I don't know if it makes a difference if I select the me.com or mac.com as my outgoing server. I also work at a university, but I don't think that should be a problem since this just surfaced today. I've posted some additional technical details below. Has anyone else experienced this problem recently?
    Error message details:
    SMTP module(domain mac.com) reports:
    host smtp-mx2.mac.com says:
    550 5.1.1 unknown or illegal alias
    Reporting-MTA: dns; regor.[myuniversity].edu

    First of all test the other mail host. Do nslookup on the mx record for the domain. Maybe also check it from somewhere else on the internet to make sure your dns server doesnt still have an old entry cached. Once you know dns is going to the right server, try to telnet to port 25 on that server to see if you can connect to the other mail server and get a header back. If you want you could go a step further and send a message via command line but not usually necessary.
    If that server seems fine, look at your own mail server. Check dns, delivery to other addresses etc..

  • Notification Mailer Error

    Hi
    We are upgrading our system to linux. Problem we are getting is whenever we clone our system, notification mailer is giving error. When I submit the timesheet, I am getting the following error in the mail
    Error
    Your session is no longer valid or your logon information could not be reestablished from your session.
    Any faced a similar issue. Do i need to do something extra at the time of cloning for notification mailer

    I have gone through all the finishing tasks of the cloning and updated all the workflow related tables and restarted services but somehow a dynamic xml is not generated. That is the reason why we get the error. Mailer, CM are all fine. The error is still showing up in the notifications sent.

  • Another newbie WIN Mail Errors

    Sorry if this is not the correct board - it is my first visit.
    For weeks now, I've been pulling out my hair rotating from  Verizon to HP to msn to windows tech support over this:
    In any website, clicking their 'Contact Us' button or forwarding anything form there, I always got  a windows mail popup "Error 0x800CCCf0; Windows could not send . After many calls and re-settings,  an HP tech told me today to  just use  Windows Live instead. This brings up  a new error:
    "Unable to send or receive messages for the Msn (z7udumm) (1) account. There was an unexpected error and Windows Live Mail can't sync the messages in your Hotmail account. To sync your messages, in Windows Live Mail, remove your Hotmail account and then add it again. To view messages in your Hotmail account, go to http://hotmail.live.com on the Web.

    Well, it's pretty much designed and meant to be a single-user machine, at least so far. There is only one Contacts app which, of course, feeds and drives everything else.
    You can easily import your whole Address Book into hers and then sync that one to the iPad. That might result in some duplication but that's not too serious a problem, I hope. Arrangement details, Groups and etc., will have to be negotiated also.
    And as you suspected no, it's not tethering. Think of them as being linked, via iTunes, for syncing purposes.

  • Remote Mail Error

    Hi there,
    We are getting error messages in SOST and some of the emails are not going out. The error messages is "Cannot process message, no route from USERNAME to SID:500:USERNAME". This client on that SID is used for CUA purposes and the connection is present in SM59 and there is no authorization and connection problem as I tested it there.
    Dont know how to resolve this issue. Any hints. The communication method is set to remote mail in SU01 and in SCOT I can see the errors under RML.
    Any ideas how to resolve it.

    Thanks everybody for the responses. I think I have to explain it more in detail here. In SRM we are using procurement. All the emails go out find to all suppliers. On one day we noticed failures just for one person and it gets repeated whenever the SMTP job runs. That user is set to RML in SU01 that is remote mail. The error messages in SOST is that same as I stated in my problem for the first time. I deleted all of them and its still keeps on throwing the cannot send email message whenever the SMTP job runs. The strange thing is that whenever I delete the message the same number of message appears with the status of waiting. I left it there for a day and then deleted all of them and then it vanished. I dont know how this thing works but the problem is resolved. All the settings/configuration mentioned by you guys are done correctly and I verified it.
    At this point I like to understand how remote mail is different from email in SU01. Why the same number of messages keep on coming up as soon as I deleted the failed message in SOST.

    1. Can you please check wheather SAPCOnnect ( TCode SICF) is activated for your system.
    2. Check Code page in SCOT and the name of the mail host.
    3. Go to TCode SCOT, Check "Internet" in "Supported address type" click on "Set" and in the "Address Area" put "*"
    4. Please also check whether the connection between your SAP server and the mail host( SMTP host) working.
    5. Check whether SAPConnect job has been scheduled
    If you are still gettting problem please paste Log from SOST.

    You could of course use Safari your default browser as a quick method of accessing gmail until you figure out the Firefox problem. (More than one browser may be used on a Mac or other computer).
    Is this the only site you have problems with ? and does Safari work ok ?
    Often this problem requires the page to be reloaded
    * try pressing the shift key as you reload the page
    Another problem is sometimes the cookies for that site need clearing

  • 'cannot get mail' error message

    Getting 'cannot get mail' error message for my hotmail on iphone and ipad, tried resetting account and passwords, not helping...any ideas??

    My email started working -- on its own -- at 7 PM. That means that from 4 AM until 7 PM, I received no email.
    However, I knew I missed some messages.  It's now the NEXT MORNING and those missed messages still have NOT arrived.  I has hoping they were in a queue or something and would still be arriving.
    This is HORRIBLE.  Gosh only knows what I missed beyond the few that a couple friends told me about.
    If this happens one more time, I'll leave icloud.com's email.  This is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.  In all the years of having had MobileMe prior to iCloud email, nothing like this ever happened.
