Peristent Network MIDI connection after restart?

I am using MacOS X's native MIDI over IP tools to initiate a session between two machines for a fixed installation and am having some problems with a persistent connection between the two. Is there any way to have the virtual MIDI devices (the two computers) re-establish their connection after a restart? I've scoured the net, but can't find a way to make this happen.
Please advise.

OK, no problem as the instructions would still be the same.
We're talking about two different names here. The "name" of the device can be whatever you want.
But when you configure the Express to "join" a wireless network, you select the name of the wireless network that the router has created. In other words if the Belkin's wireless network name was Belkin Wireless, that will appear as a choice when you configure the Express to join that network. You will also be asked for the wireless password for that network.
It's best to only work with the Expess when configuring it. Turn off and disconnect any other printers, etc. until after you have the Express configured.
If you are still seeing a blinking amber light, open AirPort Utility, click Manual Setup, click on the amber dot and another window will open with a message explaining the error.
What does the message say?
If you need to reconfigure the Express again, here are the steps to join a wireless network:
Connect the Express to your computer with an ethernet cable
Open AirPort Utility, click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the icons
Wireless Mode would be "Join a wireless network"
Wireless Network Name would be the name of the network created by the Belkin. Click the selection box to display the available network to be joined.
Wireless Security would be the same setting as the Belkin network
Wireless Password would be the password that you use to log onto the Belkin wireless network
Wireless Password..same as above
Click the Music Icon at the top
Enable AirTunes
Enter passwords if you wish
Update to save changes.

  • No network LAN-connection after iOS 5.1.1update

Today i tried to solve a big issue after updating my AppleTV's to 5.1.1 (actual version: AppleTV3,1_5.1_10A406e_Restore.ipsw). After updating my Apple TV´s, they could not connect to  the Apple activation server. No Home Sharing was adjustable and also logging in iTunesStore was not possible. The update I have done via LAN cable, and I changed  nothing in my network configuration. The network (networkadress via DHCP) is indeed set up by default in the AppleTV automatically. Nevertheless, nothing went. Then I removed the network cable and made a reset of the AppleTV and tried to connect via Wi-Fi. With Wi-Fi, he finds the activation server and everything works as it should. Home Sharing, iTunes, streaming. However, once the network cable is plugged in and the Apple TV is restarted, it is again not possible to get access the iTunesStore. Home Sharing is not possible. The networkcable are fine. Both MacBook, as well as my TVs have internet connection over the same network cable. If I unplug the network cable from the AppleTV again, anything goes. Only via WLAN, but it's just too slow to stream data from my Mac. I have this "strange behavior" on 3 AppleTV 3.Gen., which are in the apartment. The previous iOS-Version on the same network cables, worked great. Can anyone reproduce the problem? Or have I now 3 bricked devices? I tried to downgrade over itunes. But this is not possible anymore. I installed 3 times the update. But nothing goes. Please can anybody help me.

I found another link titled "Apple TV Death after update"  and found several links that have proven to work to restore to the previous version.  Here is my post:
"I had originally replied to a post titled "No network LAN-connection after iOS 5.1.1 update". That has been my issue after updating to 5.1. Wirless worked for me but iTunes match and Podcasts were slow to respond. I finally downgraded to the previous version (5.0.2). So far, my ATV3 has been operating exactly as it did out of the box. No more activation failed message, and all components of ATV are functioning flawlessly on my whole home LAN network.
I also wonder what Apple was thinking for releasing this update without adaquate testing. I can forgive them for Maps, but not this. ATV has been around long enough for all of the kinks to be worked out and any updates to just plain work. I did like the new menu displays in apps and how you could rearrange the program icons on the home screen.
Perhaps they will get it right. Some day. But until they show proof that any future updates are correct and provide detailed instructions on how to revert back to a previous version, I will be very leary of updating. Spending a week reading message boards on how to do a simple resotre is not my idea of how to spend my weekends.
As a side note, I am a PC, so to restore from an .ispw file located on your system, you must press the Alt & Shift keys togather, then click the Restore button, and a window will pop-up so you can select the location for the restore file."
    Directions to restore:
"Yes you can. I am a PC. Download the .ipsw file and save to your desktop. Unplug the LAN, HDMI and power cable. Connect the usb cable from your laptop to the ATV. If iTunes does not automatically launch, start it. After iTunes is running, plug in the power cable to the ATV. iTunes will recognize the ATV and will open the restore window in iTunes.
Press the Alt and Shift keys togather, then click on the Restore button. A file window will open so you can navigate to the desktop (or where ever you saved the file). Select the AppleTV3,1_5.-.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw file. iTunes will start the restore process.
When you see the message that it has completed the restore, unplug the usb cable and power cable. Reconnect the LAN and HDMI cable then plug in the Power cable in that sequence.
Follow the setup procedure again and all should be as it was before."

    iTunes RADIO is not working.
“iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. Make sure your internet connection is active and try again.” Try as I may, as many as ten attempts, trying to connect after restart, after shutdown, nothing works. Just so …
iTunes STORE not “connectable” with my otherwise perfectly-working internet connection, viable, up and running for all other uses.
Simply put, firstly, I can't connect to the internet when I click on Radio.  People are quite suspicious that this is Apple incompetence or your company's famous arrogance for this commonly-suffered problem that you won't or “can’t” fix.
Read the many web comments and you won’t be pleased with yourselves: the suspicion is that if you ruin internet radio on iTunes, Apple will somehow make more money on music downloads, etc. Bull.
Also, thirdly, my old playlist of 20 or so internet radio stations in the Ambient category STILL PLAYS !
Then fourth, I installed the latest available version of QuickTime Player 7.app Version 7.6.6 but it didn’t solve the problem either. I had QuickTime Player.app Version 10.2, but substituted what Apple website said was the latest, LOWER NUMBERED QuickTime Player version of 7.6.6
Fifth, I can't connect to iTunes store no matter what I do or what user group's advice I try. So I can’t buy or download anything from iTunes. Bad for business.
Sixth, I updated to the latest version of iTunes but this weird problem remains. All suggested Apple fixes or user group fixes are useless. Where is Apple’s famous technical competency, vaunted customer support?, and user-friendly product reputation? Get it back, please.
Solve this problem of yours ASAP for us, your numerous disgruntled, dissatisfied customers of iTunes. You can do better, should, and really –in all fairness- must.

NOTE:  no password for iTunes exists in my Keychain. Is this a problem?
Apple ACCOUNT ID, and iTunes ID password, works but not to access iTunes with my healthy internet connection.
Apple store id It works via direct internet connetion but not through iTunes.  Very strange.

  • Airport network not remembered after restart or sleep after upgrading from OS X 10.5 to OS X 10.6.8

I upgraded OS X 10.5.8 to OS X 10.6.8.  Now after sleep or restart my wireless network is not remembered nor automatically connected to.  I have to select "Other" and enter network name and WPA2 password each time even though "Remember this network" is checked.  Using Airport Utility 5.5.3. Other computer on same network but still using OS X 10.5.8 does not have this problem.

You will need two things - the 10.6.3 retail DVD, and the 10.7 USB installer. Once you install 10.6, run Software Update to get yourself up to 10.6.8.

If you can go to 10.8 instead of 10.7, I'd recommend it. It's cheaper, and a much better OS (you get full iCloud functionality, for one thing).

  • Re-establish internet connection after restarting laptop

I have a wireless router (WRT54G) and to make an internet connection to my laptop I must use a cord and establish the connection, then that cord is removed. However, I must do this everytime I turn my computer on/off or restart it. When I first purchased the laptop, router, and adapter I only had to establish the connection once and had no problems with connecting to the internet even after I restarted my laptop. What is wrong that I must re-establish the connection with each restart?

okay... hardwire the computer directly to the router, logon to router's setup page, open I.E. and in the address bar type 192.168.1.1 it would ask for username and password, put "admin" (default password) as a password without any username…click on wireless tab and try changing wireless channel to 11, click on advanced wireless settings reduce beacon interval to 50, fragmentation and RTS threshold to 2304… make sure that you have latest firmware installed on the router… also tell me the model and version no. of the adapter that you have and OS on computer…

  • AX network not seen after restarting Win XP Dell laptop

I use AX as my wireless network, with another AX connected to the network to allow for transmission of music to my stereo. I am able to configure everything fine, connect to the Internet, print, and play music through all of the AXs. The problem arises whenever I restart the computer or wake it up from hiberation. I can't connect to the network, and the Airport Admin Utility doesn't see the Airport Expresses. The only way I can fix it is to hard reset both Expresses and reconfigure everything. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Tom
    Dell Inspiron 700m   Windows XP

Try setting WEP to 40bits. YOu can use a 5 char plain text password. 128bits is more secure but less compatible with non-apple cards.
    Reconfigure using a lan cable.
Connect using XP wifi manager. Afterwhich you can now use Airport Admin if needed.

  • Lost connection after restart  -- Please Help

Bought 5th gen ipod week ago. Don't use my home computer much:
    - iBook G3
    - OS X 10.2.8
    - iTunes 3
Updated my software, connected the ipod and immediately starting syncing and listening to music. Imported 20 CDs...all good.
Today, computer froze when I tried to eject the ipod. I restarted the computer and when I came back to it, everything is erased from my ipod. Everything still on itunes. Started to Update everything back to the ipod and realized that the ipod was not showing up in my itunes library.
Done the 5 R's, except I can't install the most recent version of itunes because I'm not on OSX 10.3 or above.
Please tell me there's a way to fix this without having to purchase new operating system software.
Thanks to anyone who will respond.

And which iPhoto version did you use before this happened?
If you upgraded from iPhoto 7.1.2 or earlier, you need to run the iPhoto Library Upgrader.  Restore your iPhoto lIbrary from your backup to the state before the upgrade, then download, install, and run the upgrader, use this link  iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrader
If you upgraded from a newer iPhoto version, see this discussion:
Re: It appears my iPhoto Library is corrupt after upgrade ...
Are you seeing a folder "Old Masters", when you are ctrl-clicking your iPhoto Library and using "How Package Contents"?
Also see this discussion:  Re: Yosemite, iPhoto 9.6 upgrade, large photo library is not recognised.

  • My macbook keeps losing wifi connection after restarting and I can't connect to my wifi in recovery mode

I have two problems actually, which I think are connected.
I installed a new hard drive and am in the process of returning my macbook pro to normal. I'm now using Mac OS X 10.6.8 and I want to be able to update to OS Lion.
When my computer is on it can connect to our wifi without any problems (so the password is working). However, everytime I restart, it looses the connection and does not automatically reconnect. This never happened before and I can't seem to figure out where I can change this. All I have to do to reconnect is go to the wifi symbol and choose our wifi code. It then automatically connects without me needing to type the access code.
The seconde problem is when trying to update to OS Lion, when in recovery mode, all I get is a screen asking me to connect to wifi. I choose our wifi and now I do have to type a password, but whatever I do, it does not accept the code. It has nothing to do with capslock or anything like that.
We are sharing our wifi with our neighbour, so changing the password is not an option. But is is just a simple letters and numbers password.

Why not do a "Restore"  in iTunes to set it back to factory settings? That will eliminate any previous information that is causing you issues in use. You will have an iPod which you can sync as if it is new with your settings and info.

  • Network never connects after boot?

every time i reboot my pc i must do sudo dhcpcd eno1. but during the install of arch from the iso on a cd i already did [email protected] and setup my net, why does it not connect automatically, (its Ethernet btw) i cant put it in xinitrc or rc.lua because i have to sudo dhcpcd eno1 which means ill have to enter my password so that wont work unless i add nopassword in sudo file, which i dont want to do.
    did i miss a step?

    mariusmeyer wrote:
Hm, you may have "solved" the problem by this approach, in this case. However: don't you think it's a good idea to actually learn how to use systemd, instead of just trying lots of stuff in your xinitrc?
For example, systemctl enable foo.service means "from now on, start foo.service at every boot". Do you get why it doesn't make sense to do that every time you log into X?
Another example: what is the big difference between the dhcpcd@ service file and issuing "sudo dhcpcd foo" yourself? If you call dhcpcd directly in xinitrc, why would you need the .service for systemd?
As has been stated in an earlier post here, there is a known bug that might be affecting you.
Please, just feel free to do things you way, as Arch is very much about you making your own system. That being said, systemd is a tool. It makes sense to learn to use the tool if it is going to be a core component of the OS, right? if not for this case, then for the stuff that might happen down the road
    Best regards,
because i already tried systemd enabling for 3 machines for wifi and wired, and it doesnt work...hence why i have this thread

  • 2008 r2 hyper-v guest with static IP always looses network connectivity after every restart - no problem with DHCP

    Hello,
We are running 2008 R2 domain with one physical DC and other running in VM on Hyper-V host (2008 R2 Standard). The host has 4 NICs and is configured to use one physical NIC for itself (management) and the hyper-v guest is configured to use another dedicated/physical
NIC (through microsoft virtual switch) just for itself.
I noticed that after setting the hyper-v guest with a static IP address all works fine only until guest restart. When the guest boots up the IP address is still configured correctly in IPv4 properties, but there is no network connectivity at all and in fact
the guest shows running APIPA config in ipconfig /all output. That situation continues until I remove the virtual NIC from hyper-v guest, remove the virtual switch from dedicated NIC on host and then reconfigure it (using same settings as they were). very
    annoying.
For time being I switched the virtual DC (problematic hyper-v guest) to a DHCP IP and configured DHCP server (running on physical DC machine, not on hyper-v host) to store a reservation for the hyper-v guest so it always gets the same "static"
    IP configuration.
Is there some kind of a problem/bug with using static IP on (2008 R2) hyper-v guests? is there a hotfix for static IP config in hyper-v guest environment?
both 2008 R2 OSes (host and guest) are up to date with all updates (synced with Microsoft, not WSUS).

OK, I'm not at the office now, but took my time to test out the restart scenarios on problematic virtual guest remotely.
No dice, same as it was, everything works fine after guest has IP configured in DHCP mode (IP reservation of 192.168.1.5 for specific MAC address) and it doesn't work after restart in static IP mode (same address, works before restart of guest).
I also took "arp -a" outputs at each step from host server and that was always saying there is only a single host (192.168.1.5 = VDC = problematic virtual guest) assigned to that IP address and always with same MAC, so that pretty much rules out
ARP/MAC troubles and no issues with switches/routers getting spoofed. Problem is most likely with the virtual guest (WS2008R2) or within the host running same OS.
    Here are outputs:
    A) VDC has IP configured in DHCP mode - always same, survives through restart (all works)

On Monday I will install more test guests in Hyper-V host (WS2008R2), in variety of flavors like 7x64, 8.1x64, ws2012r2, and see if they show similar problems with static IP configuration when utilizing a dedicated NIC from host server.
Don't get me wrong, I can live with virtual DC running on DHCP IP reservation (which is based on MAC), because the virtual DC pretty much requires a physical PDC (hosting also DHCP in my network) to be present for safety reasons ... however I prefer a static
IP configuration on all servers, hence my question and surprise why it doesn't work.

  • My i Phone drops WiFi connection after just a few minutes and wont reconnect unless I reset the network settings and reboot the  phone?

My i Phone 4s has suddenly started to drop wifi connection after nealy months of near perfect connections?
To restore a wifi connection I have to reset the network settings and restart the phone, this only fixes the issues for around 2-3 mins?
Other quick fixes like switching wifi on and off/ switching to airoplane mode for a few secconds have no impact.
This is really annoying as I am using my data allowence very quickly, and as the phone is continually searching for a wifi connection the battery time has reduced dramatically.
I just wondered if any one else has the same issue, and any suggestions as to how I can fix this.
    Thanks in Advance

    Reboot.
    Restore (from backup)
    Restore (as new)
Test after each step. If one of them doesn't fix the problem, make an appointment at the genius bar.

  • MBP takes long time to restore wired network connection after wake-up

    Hello...
My Mid-2010 MBP (MacBookPro6,2) has been experiencing this problem recently -- Whenever I wake up the computer from sleep, it needs approximately 10 seconds to restore its wired network connection. I know there are other annoying connection issues with MBP's WiFi/AirPort out there, but I'm talking about the wired connection here.
Maybe some don't even think this slowness is a problem at all, but this laptop used to be network-ready right after wake-up until 3~4 months ago. That was around the time when I upgraded to SSD and changed some settings via pmset, not sure if that's the culprit. It is now running OS X 10.8.5 and its pmset settings are:
    Battery Power:
    lidwake              1
    ttyskeepawake        1

I'd appreciate help of any kind

Maybe try this, i am not sure that it will resolve the problem, but it is worth trying anyways.

    Hi All,
I've seen this problem multiple times, especially with Windows 7 64-bit versions and Enterprise edition.  The source of the problem appears to be the Bonjour service that is installed in the background and set to "Automatic" when installing certain 3rd
party applications.  Apple applications like iTunes and Adobe applications like Acrobat Professional and Creative Suites have been known to cause this problem.  I've also seen virtualization software like VMWare and VirtualBox cause similar issues
    with network adapters.
The solution in most of the cases I've come across has been to stop and disable the Bonjour service.  The Bonjour service also masquerades as a service with a name of the format "##Id_String1.6844F930_blahblahblah".  Here's how to disable this service
    in Windows 7:
Right-Click on Computer > Select 'Manage'
Expand the 'Services and Applications' section in the bottom of the Left-Nav dialog and Select 'Services'
Sort the Services list by name and look for either "Bonjour" or the "##Id_String..." name mentioned above
Right-Click on the service and select 'Properties'
Click the 'Stop' button to stop the service
Select 'Disabled' from the 'Startup type' drop down list
    Click 'Apply' and then 'OK'
Reboot your machine and see if the "Multiple Networks" issue is resolved.  If so, you should have internet connectivity again.
    Hope this helps.
    cheers,
    Aaron
