Perl adcfgclone.pl appsTechStack question

Runnning "perl adcfgclone.pl appsTechStack" did not recreate all of the bin directory scripts, nor the comps.xml.
What is the purpose of using option appsTechStack, if not to recreate the 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 ORACLE_HOMEs

Hi,
Runnning "perl adcfgclone.pl appsTechStack" did not recreate all of the bin directory scripts, nor the comps.xml.
What is the purpose of using option appsTechStack, if not to recreate the 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 ORACLE_HOMEsThere is no appsTechStack option -- Please elaborate more on what you are trying to do.
perl adcfgclone.pl
USAGE:
   adcfgclone.pl <component> [context file]
WHERE:
   <component> : { appsTier | appltop | atTechStack }
   <component> : { dbTier | database | dbTechStack }
   Depending on the context type.See ((Troubleshooting RapidClone issues with Oracle Applications R12 [ID 603104.1]) -- Section 2: Different Components) for the different components with RapidClone that are used when cloning an Oracle Applications instance.

  • Oracle EBS 11i - Cloning failing while running 'perl adcfgclone.pl dbTier

    Hi DBAs/Experts
    I am trying to clone the Oracle 11i (11.5.10.2 with RUP6) all single node on RHEL 4.6. I was following the metalink note 230672.1.
    I ran adpreclone scripts successfully on the dbTier and appsTier. Shutdown the Apps & DB. Moved over the file system (whole /u01) which include all the homes ,tops and datafiles from source to target.
    While running 'perl adcfgclone.pl dbTier' , I am getting following errors. I didn't check any pre-requisite patches for Rapid Clone as the EBS was already up-todate with RUP6. (How can I verify if the system is on RUP6 in case I have to double check it).

    The new context file has been created at:
    /orcldev/tstred/dbred/db/tech_st/11.1.0/appsutil/TST3_tstocl.xml
    The first suspicion I thought of was that I'm running out of disk space to clone another instance. But I've checked and there's still enough space, even in the /tmp directory. The second I thought of is does setting ownership and the os permissions have something to do with this?
    Hope somebody can help me out with this asap.
    Thank you.

    error for dbTier cloning is solved. I didn't log in as the database user and didn't change permissions for the node files after copying. Cloning for db tier is completed.
    I proceed with cloning the apps tier and I'm running into errors and cannot proceed. See log below:

  • Perl adcfgclone.pl dbTier  fails on control file creation

    Hi Guys,
    Platform is : Linux 5
    DB: 11.1.0.7
    R12.1.1
    I have a temp file that had been removed at the OS level.. on the source And I want to updated the control file regarding this so that it does not record this file any more.
    I am using rapid clone (EBS) to cone this source database unto the target but is failing on the target control file creation as it's trying to find the temp file that had been removed at the source. OS level.
    So I will like to update the control file on the source so that it does not reflect this dropped temp file any longer and then do the clone again.
    So What's the best way to achieve this or please point me to a metalink note:
    Also below are the rrors from the rapid clone

  • Perl adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack default values...?

    Hi!
    Our config: DB 10g2.0.2, APPS 11.5.10.2
    When we run "perl adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack" then some default values are shown in screen:
    Do you want to use a virtual hostname for the target node (y/n)
    Target instance is a Real Application Cluster (RAC) instance (y/n)
    *Target system utl_file accessible directories list [var/tmpprod]:*
    Number of DATA_TOP's on the target system [6]:
    ...Where are those settings saved and retrieved in runtime? I'd like to change some default values to some new values (i.e. number of data tops to "7", after adding some luns)... Funny, but I couldn't find the source ... of that pattern.
    THX
    Funky

    Hsawwan
    I hope I'll not disobey some rules...however here it is:
    The script adcfgclone.pl calls CloneContext.class. This java code is responsible for creating the Target
    Context file. The default values for the prompts are read from CTXORIG.xml (a
    copy of the Source context file). There are some exceptions to this, one of
    them being the "number of DATA_TOPs". This default value derives from the
    number of "s_dbhome" variables in
    +$ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/clone/data/stage/addbhomsrc.xml. This file is generated+
    on the Source system by adpreclone.pl, and copied to the Target system during
    the copy phase.
    As you have uploaded your addbhomsrc.xml and it is not working as specified above indicates you may be hitting a bug.
    Your default value appears to equate to "number of "s_dbhome" variables in addbhomsrc.xml 1".+
    +This matches an issue reported in Bug 5345502, where an additional variable+
    +added for 10g was being counted in addition to the s_dbhome variables, making+
    +the default number 1 more than the source. This was fixed for both 11i and R12+

    +- $JAVA_TOP/oracle/apps/ad/context/CloneContext.class+
    +If the version is < 115.204, then you need to apply the latest RapidClone patch:+
    +6718351 : 11i RAPIDCLONE CONSOLIDATED FIXES JUL/2008+
    +This will deliver CloneContext.java 115.223+
    +Please also check the version(s) on your Database Tier:-+
    +- $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/java/oracle/apps/ad/context/CloneContext.class+
    +There is also another version on your Database Tier which is copied by adpreclone.pl+
    +into the Clone stage area, so we need to confirm that version:-+
    +- $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/clone/jlib/java/oracle/apps/ad/context/CloneContext.class+
    +If the version on the Apps Tier is > 115.204 and does not match those on the Database Tier, or you had to apply the suggested patch 6718351, then you need+
    +to recopy the AutoConfig/RapidClone code over to the RDBMS Tier.+
    +Recreate appsutil.zip using this command on the Applications Tier:+
    +- perl $AD_TOP/bin/admkappsutil.pl+
    +Copy the created appsutil.zip to the RDBMS ORACLE_HOME and extract it using "unzip -o" to overwrite the existing+
    +code.+
    +Once you have the latest version, you will need to rerun the "preparation stages" on your Source system by rerunning adpreclone.pl, so the+
    +new code is copied to the clone stage area.+
    +You will also need to rerun adpreclone.pl on the Apps Tier.+
    +Finally, recopy the instance files to your Target system, and when you configure the Target Database Tier, and are+
    +prompted for the "number of DATA_TOPs", you should now see the number match+
    +that on the Source system, or more specifically, match the number of "s_dbhome"+
    +variables in+
    +$ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/clone/data/stage/addbhomsrc.xml.+

  • Difference between perl adcfgclone.pl dbconfig  and adconfig.sh

    Hi,
    Difference between perl adcfgclone.pl dbconfig and adconfig.sh
    I would like to understand the difference between these configuration steps, if there is any please explain, I understnd from various docs I've gone through that "perl adcfgclone.pl dbconfig" updates the database tbales with information from context file,wanted to know if adconfig.sh also does the same, apart from updating template files on the db tier.
    Thanks&Regards
    Rajiv.

    Hi;
    1. perl adcfgclone.pl dbconfig <target context file>You need this syntax configure the Target system for clone process,adcfgclone.pl is used to configure Taget system. And it calls adclone.pl
    2.adconfig.sh -- (run on dbtier)adconfig.pl uses for run Autoconfig. Please check Autoconfig FAQ [ID 218089.1] << part When should I run AutoConfig? -Which files / profile options get changed when I run AutoConfig?

  • Perl and stored proc question

    Hello,
    I have used ASP w/ many SQL Server stored procs before and many Oracle stored procs with Java before, but I have yet to embark on calling stored procs from Perl.
    My current insert has been like this:
    my $dbh = DBIConnect->connect;
    my $query1;
    $query1 = "INSERT into DEFAULT_PROJECT (NAME, EMAIL, LOCATION,PHONE,MGRNAME,MGREMAIL,"
        ."PROJNAME,PROJ_LOC,SPON_DEPT,SPON_BUS,PROJ_TYPE)
    ."values (?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?);"But am looking to replicate an equivalent call to an SP. ok, I've created my multi-table insert in SQL Plus, in PL/SQL, and it's just fine, no errors.
    Now I need to make the call.
    I've seen a few different things, including the use of DBIx like
    DBIx::ProcedureCall qw(sysdate);
    I've also seen something like
      $csr =  $dbh->prepare(q{
        BEGIN
          DEFPROJ_FORM_INSERTION;
        END;
       $csr->execute;I'm a bit confused having tried to shake down the CPAN board for a while with little luck.
    Anyone out there know how that call might look or go, given the supplied parameters and stored proc. name?
    I'd assume I'd be assigning the parameterized values much like I am now.
    Can any Perl/Oracle users out there shed any light on this?
    Thanks!

    alright, so I could not get that to work, but just to validate the insert statement I tried to alter it from an SP to a normal dynamic insert SQL statement.
    I get an Oracle error citing
    errERROR: Could not execute SQL! Error: ORA-00911: invalid character (DBD ERROR: OCIStmtExecute)
    DBI ERROR: ORA-00911: invalid character (DBD ERROR: OCIStmtExecute),Maybe I'm overlooking something simple. Anyone see anything out of place that pertains to the SQL statement?
    I think I have input it in a rather manageable, and easy to read block below:
    INSERT ALL
    INTO DEFAULT_PROJECT_USER
    (DEFPROJ_ID,DEFPROJ_ID_LTR,NAME,EMAIL,LOCATION,PHONE,MGRNAME,MGREMAIL,PROJNAME,PROJ_LOC, SPON_DEPT,SPON_BUS,PROJ_TYPE,REG_LEGAL,NETCRED_LOSS, EXPENSE_REDUC_CKB, STRAT_GOALS,AUDIT_COMPL,REV_GEN,CACS,CUSTOMIT,CUST_IMPACT,CALL_MGT,CALL_TRACK,

    values (defproj_user_seq.nextval,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?,to_date(?,'YYYY-MM-DD HH:MI:SS'),SYSDATE,?,?,?,?,?)

    VALUES (defproj_user_seq.nextval,NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL,NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL,NULL, NULL, NULL,NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL,NULL, NULL,NULL,NULL)
    INTO DEFAULT_PROJECT_QA
    (DEFPROJ_ID,TERM,DEFINITION,BUS_NEED,CUST_IMPACT,CONTACT_NAME,IMPACT,IMPACT_PROCESS,IMPACT_DESC,PROCESS_LOC,PROJ_SCHED,PROJ_JUSTIF,IMPL_DATE,PROJ_EXPL,
    PROJ_TYPE,PROJ_JUST_MIT,PROJ_OWNER,PROJ_DATE_STATUS)
    VALUES (defproj_user_seq.nextval,NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL,NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL,NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL,NULL, NULL,NULL,NULL)
    SELECT object_name AS DEFPROJ_ID_LTR FROM all_objects where rownum <= 1;what could be leading to an invalid character? The error doesn't show which line.
    Thanks, but NEVER MIND...I found it - it's stupid perl! As opposed to a good language (Java).
    It balks at the extra semicolon, unlike Java would.
    Oh, and why am I using Perl you ask? Other than the "yeah, good question response", it's a long story, but suffice to say they don't allow for our UNIX server to be used with Java, just Perl. : (
    I do use Java a good amount here, but sometimes we're bound to crap on another planet where it just isn't an option for the server on which we use Java!
    Maybe someday! : )

  • Perl module install noob question - Solved

    hello everybody,
    i've been away from the *nix world for some time now, and there are some things i remember better than others.
    atm i am trying to install perl-term-readline, as it is a dependency for the metasploit framework - although i am surprised that package isn't already installed, as it belongs to the core modules group (that means the module should come with every perl install) if i recall correctly.
    This is what i have tried so far (i read some perl wiki page and this is what came up):
    [root@Omega /]# pacman -S -f perl-term-readline
    perl-term-readline: not found in sync db
    where do i have to look for that module?
    -Southern_Trendkiller
    Last edited by Southern_Trendkiller (2007-02-05 11:42:42)

    I have tried that already, without luck.
    This is what i get:
    [root@Omega ~]# pacman -Ss perl-term
    extra/perl-term-readkey 2.30-1
    A perl module dedicated to providing simple control over terminal driver
    modes.
    community/perl-term-progressbar 2.09-1
    Provide a progress meter on a standard terminal in perl
    community/perl-term-read-password 0.07-1
    lets you ask the user for a password without echoing
    perlcpan/perl-term-progressbar 2.09-1
    Term::ProgressBar - Progress bar in just ASCII / using Term
    perlcpan/perl-term-ui 0.14-1
    Term::UI - No description provided by CPAN
    perlcpan/perl-termreadkey 2.30-1
    Term::ReadKey - Read keystrokes and change terminal modes
    [root@Omega ~]#
    thanks for your reply anyways

  • Adcfgclone automation question

    R12.1.3 running on RH Linux 5.8.
    I have my rapid clone configuration almost automated but I run into a problem when running adcfgclone on the appsTier.
    I can pass in the apps password but I don't want it to start the services when done so is there a way to pass "N' to adcfgclone.pl while also passing in the apps password?
    Example I use now is as shown below but it then sits waiting for Y/N to startup services:
    echo ${appspwd} | perl adcfgclone.pl appsTier $CONTEXT_FILE

    I believe I have what I need now via 'expect'.
    I was assisted by this post http://mohamedelazab.blogspot.ca/2013/07/nice-notes-for-automating-cloning-11i.html
    And for anybody else who stumbles on this thread here is what I run now.
    When it comes to the adcfgclone step in my bash script I have:
    /usr/bin/expect adcfgclone.exp  >$LOG_FILE_HOME/adcfgclone.log
    Where the contents of the file are:
    ================================================================================
    #!/usr/bin/expect -f
    set force_conservative 0  ;# set to 1 to force conservative mode even if
                              ;# script wasn't run conservatively originally
    if {$force_conservative} {
            set send_slow {1 .1}
            proc send {ignore arg} {
                    sleep .1
                    exp_send -s -- $arg
    set timeout -1
    spawn perl adcfgclone.pl appsTier /app/oracle/ebsxxx/inst/apps/EBSXXX_yyy/appl/admin/EBSXXX_yyy.xml
    match_max 100000
    expect -exact "\r
    Enter the APPS password : "
    send -- "myappspwd\r"
    expect -exact "\r
    Do you want to startup the Application Services for EBSXXX? (y/n) \[y\] : "
    send -- "n\r"
    expect eof
    ==================================================================================
    Then I run adautocfg and finally adstrtal.
    I hope this post is not premature as I have yet to tun the whole thing together and via cron but on the cmd line works.
