[Perm] InDesign missing necessary fonts or CMAP files.

Hi there...
I searched and found a thread on this before but I still haven't been able to solve my problem.
I performed a clean install of Jagaur on my system. G3 iMac DV SE 500 Mhz (Snow) and it has 768 MB RAM.
I then installed InDesign 2.0 from the CD and it installs fine. When I launch InDesign I get the error that "Missing Required Fonts or CMAP file. Please reinstall InDesign" -- I've reinstalled about 50 times with the same result.
I've tried the following:
- Deleting all instances of Adobefnt.lst
- Deleting all InDesign support files from the root>library>application support>adobe folder and the user>username>library>preferences folder.
I'm at my wits end. InDesign performs flawlessly on my Titanium Powerbook G4, also running Jaguar.
Does anyone else have any other suggestions?
:) Mordy

I FOUND IT!!!
For some odd reason, the Application Support in my user>username directory was locked and owned by the system -- therefore, the ID installer couldn't put the files there (the files WERE in the root>library>application support folder but I guess that wasn't good enough. Anyway, I reset the owner of the folder to myself (admin) and then manually copied the fonts and cmap files there and it launched!!!
YAY!!!!!
Thanks to everyone who helped both physically and mentally...

  • Missing System Fonts or CMap Files after reinstallation.

I just had to download and reinstall my CS 2 due to the disabling of the activation server. After installation, I get an error message of, "Adobe InDesign is missing required system fonys or CMap files. Please reinstall." I have uninstalled and reinstalled at least 6 times in the last 4 days. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    Thanks.

As a incensed user of CS2, you can get a new download here:

  • Missing required systems fonts or cmap files

    Good morning,
We have a serious problem with Adobe Suite (including InDesign 6).
When we launch In Desing we have an error message :"Missing required systems fonts or cmap files".
    Can you help us ?
PS : We use windows 7 X64 with Adobe In design6.

    This thread might help: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/328866?start=0&tstart=0
But it could also be an installation problem or a permissions problem. Does you user account have full access to the lacation where those files should be stored?

  • Missing Required System Fonts or CMap Files

Somehow an entire "Adobe" folder got moved to my trash accidentally. I'm now getting an error when I try to open Adobe InDesign CS5 saying "missing required system fonts or CMap files" and it shuts down on me. I'm ASSUMING it's because that folder is in the trash. However, I don't know WHERE it should go. Attached is a screen shot of that folder and it's contents. Should it be in Application Support? Adobe InDesign? I have tried to uninstall InDesign and reinstall, but I click Uninstall and it says the associated shortcut cannot be located. Grrrrr....
    Thanks for any help.

  • ID CS2 Mac system fonts and CMap files missing

I have ID CS2 for Mac. I recently had some trouble uninstalling a trial version of After Effects CS3, so I used a script provided by Adobe that is for removing troublesome files and apps. Now, when I try to start InDesign CS2, I get an error message almost immediately that says "Adobe InDesign is missing required system fonts or CMap files. Please reinstall InDesign." Does anyone know what fonts and CMap files are needed by ID, and where they should go (in which directories/folders)? I don't want to have to reinstall the entire program. All the other CS2 apps work fine and I don't want to upset the apple cart (pardon the pun). I haven't trashed any of the files that the script uninstalled...they are in a folder on my desktop, so I can just put back what ID needs, as long as I know where they go.
    Thank you!

By running the script it removed all Adobe-installed stuff. This included removing the "Reqd" folder in this path: Library > Application Support > Adobe > Fonts. InDesign CS2 expects that folder to be there. You could copy the folder from another computer, or do a reinstall on InDesign

  • Indesign CS6 crashed, can't be started again (missing required fonts, cmap files). Reinstalled -- doesnt work. help?

    hi,
my indesign CS6 worked perfectly until yesterday afternoon, when it suddenly crashed and wont open again. all it says is "There are required system fonts or cmap files missing. reinstall indesign". Did that, with the cc cleaner, but that doesnt work!
working on windows 7, sp1 -- never had any problems.
all i can find in other forums is about the cs2, which is fairly outdated. why does this happen?! all my other programs from the master collection work fine!

ok, after a quite frustrating weekend the problem seems to have solved itself. what i did (for future requests):
    - downloaded cs6 master collection (since i had my cds not with me)
    - deinstalled old install
    - wiped the system with the adobe cc cleaner tool to get everything off
    - restart
    - install cs6
    - same error. no chance of doing anything.
i then installed a trial version on another computer to at least render my pdf. i then tried something new: i put the cmap & fonts (in C:/Programs/Common Files/Adobe/PDFL) from the working pc on a usb drive. when i "backed up" my PDFL Folder on my main pc into a zip (just in case), i gave indesign another try. it then started up -- since it was the first time a bit slower than usual, but it's back on track.

  • Find missing fonts in AI file

I am writing a VBA script to open and print a handful of AI files. It needs to detect any missing/substituted fonts in each file to alert the designers in an accompanying report.
I tried creating a list of fonts using the TextFonts collection from the Application object when the application first opens, and then compared the list to the TextFonts after opening the file. This allowed me to detect the font differences between the two, but I have no way of knowing if the additional font was embedded in the AI file or substituted with another.
    Any ideas?

yeah, I tried the whole modifying the master slide thing but the missing fonts aren't on there, they would have come from slides I deleted as well or already replaced the fonts on so not sure why they are lingering....
oh wait...I think I might have just figured out something. The whole "revert to previous version" wouldn't that have something to do with still remembering fonts used in a previous version? I'm going to try and see if I can duplicate the current document in some way that makes it a new version with no history in it.
Other than that I was going to try exporting to '09 do the replace fonts tool that was in there and then open it back up but I'll have to modify the transitions and shadows that were new to current version of keynote.

  • InDesign CC won't package due to "Cannot copy necessary font(s)" error.

Every time I try to package out a file in InDesign its gets about 3/4s of the way through and then shows the "Cannot copy necessary font(s)" dialog box. I have read on certain discussions it may be a font issue. When I remove ALL fonts from my computer font library and use only preset Adobe fonts, Arial Regular for example, it works fine, then as soon as I use a font say, Helvetica Neue Light, I get the error. I have only recently upgraded to CC and all of the existing fonts in my library have always worked fine and never been a problem when packaging... However due to the tests with different fonts, it seems to be a font issue and not a links/filename issue like other people have had.

I am experiencing the exact same problem/same error message as Brendan. I just installed InDesign CC; was using CS5 prior, and WAS having NO issues with the same fonts being packaged (all Myriad Pro family). In the Package dialog box > Fonts section; this is displayed: "8 Fonts Used, 0 Missing, 0 Embedded, 0 Incomplete, 0 Protected." The Show Problems Only checkbox IS checked, no problems flagged, no errors in the Preflight panel either. On the "More Info" panel within the "Find Font" menu, every one of the fonts used has "Restrictions: Normal".  Packaging with the "Report" button option selected is not helpful, (you'll get a text file with YourJob_report.txt, showing no font errors) InDesign stops packaging but creates a job Folder containing a "Document Fonts" folder with only a tmp file inside. Extract that and read it in a Text Editor. Here's what I found:
"Copyright © 2000 Adobe Systems Incorporated. All Rights Reserved. It seems MyriadPro Black Condensed MAY be the culprit in my case.
By the way, isn't it a bit redundant to manually create a "Document Fonts" folder, drag / copy all the fonts used in my file into that folder, THEN to try and "package" them— again?! What ? Isn't that the whole point of the feature, to perform that exact task?

  • Opening a legacy file in CC2014, the fonts in the file (which are loaded and accessible with Suitcase Fusion 6), won't display. I get the [Jensen text] font name indicating a missing font file. YET, when I make a new file, the fonts are available. Any ide

Okay, that was a long title. Sorry about that.
Longer version now. The font Janson Text is an old Type 1 Postscript font. If I make a new document in InDesign CC2014, this font is completely available to me. HOWEVER, if I open a legacy file that uses this same font, it shows up with the usual pink highlighting.
I know the font is available to InDesign, because I made a new test document and set type with it.
If I try using the Type > Find Font.. option to replace the 'missing' typefaces, InDesign won't let me, not recognizing the font that I just used in the new test document.
I just tried exporting the defective file as an IDML file, then opening the IDML file. The font is now working properly.
This is a real problem, as the file I'm trying to open is a book that we need to reprint. I now have to go through it page by page to see if any linebreaks have changed.
    WHAT CAUSES THIS, please?

There is one way its getting fixed. Once I update my Adobe Illustrator CC to Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 it is further allowing me to go into the system folder and allocate the font to the file so that it can replace it. My only concern now is that our MAC partners who will receive these files back from us have Adobe CS6. We will down save it to CS6 but I hope they won't experience any font issues because of us using CC 2014? Any light you can shed on this?

  • Missing font in one file, but not another?

In one document, I changed a section of type to Helvetica, then it turned pink. It says Helvetica is missing. I opened another document and used Helvetica with no problem. I closed InDesign, checked my fonts and used Helvetica in other programs. Reopeing ID, I copied the Helvetica type from the second file and pasted it in the first file, and now Helvetica works fine in the first file. What the heck?

    @OP
Are you sure you really have that Helvetica installed & activated in your system? If you use InDesign CS5 or 5.5 and you have received documents as packages where used fonts have been stored in Document Fonts folder, you may use those fonts in indd-file that has been stored in the same root with Document Fonts folder. If you move your indd out of that root, certain fonts may stop working....
I dont know if this causes your troubles, it´s more likely font management issue but still worth to check if nothing else helps you out.

I have checked the Sharing and Permissions section of the "Get Info" panel accessed from the Finder and I have set Read and Write Privileges for my user account for Photoshop CS6. System and Admin are also set to Read and Write.
I have a MacBook Pro with OS X Version 10.9.5 and have all available updates for Photoshop CS6, Lightroom 5 and Bridge CS6.

  • Photoshop won't start: Could not open a scratch file because the file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file.

    Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended
"Could not open a scratch file because the file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file."
I've tried finding and checking and fixing permissions but no success.
This happened from one day to the next. I think it has to do with the sn attached to the disk rather then the motherboard. I have the suite co-installed with Symphony 5.05. I've tried reinstalling.
What's to b done? The rest of the Creative Suite 6 (AE, AI etc.) works fine.
    Anyone...?

  • Indesign missing fonts, please help!

    Hi!
    i
I just switched from windows 8 to a mac mini. I had indesign CC trial on the PC and now that I switched to a mac fonts are missing n my document. Both versions of indesign were up to date. How do I get my fonts back please help. The font I really need is called "Onyx"
I dont know why the fonts were working on the PC using the same indesign trial but on the Mac i download the indesign trial the font is missing. Please help!!!!!!

    On behalf of Adobe ...
Onyx is not a font provided by Adobe with InDesign or any of the Creative Suite or Creative Cloud offerings. It is installed on your Windows system when you install Microsoft Office.
Likewise, if you have licensed and Installed Microsoft Office on your Macintosh, Onyx is installed on your system.
If you have not licensed and installed Microsoft Office on your Macintosh, you can license the font at http://www.fonts.com/family/248141/onyx.

I dont’ think this is a new discussion but I haven’t seen the answer yet. The question is: how can I see my Postscript fonts in InDesign CC?
