Permanent links

Hello,
I'd like to suggest adding some frequently used NI sites to the forum start page, e.g. by splitting the anouncement section (no announcement needs the full width, I feel): Located over the Top Kudoed Posts' section I'd like to see links to important NI sites, relevant for the respective forum.
For example, for LabWindows/CVI I'd like to see a link to
- http://www.ni.com/lwcvi/product_lifecycle.htm
- http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/11440
Alternatively one could think of a 'permanent' message providing these links
Thanks!
Wolfgang

Thanks for the feedback Wolfgang! We'll take that in to consideration for future improvements.

• Permanent link to specific version of a document

When ‘Sharing’ documents is it possible to issue (say for emailing to someone) a permanent link to the document i.e. one which is locked to the version and not one that changes or fails if a new version is subsequently added?
There appears to be two groups of document links in SharePoint, the current version and previous versions.
The current document version is referenced by a canonical path:
http://site/document library/document.doc
A prior document version is referenced from a revision path. But this only works for non-current versions:
http://site/_vti_history/versionID/document.doc (Where versionID is generated by SharePoint)
Therefore every time a new document revision is created the contents of the canonical path will change. The canonical path will point to the new document version while the previous version of the document is only available with the revision path.
Therefore it is not possible to create a permanent link to a version of the document if at the time of issuing it is the current version.

Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to create a permanent link to specific version of a document.
If a new version is created, the contents of the canonical path will change. Although the version number will increase, the previous version number will not change.
If you want version 1.0, then the URL for this version will always be
http://site/_vti_history/512/document.doc.

• How to register new iPhone in Apple website? So the serial number is permanently linked to my Apple ID?

When I went to the support registered page, it says its okay not to register anymore. However, I'd like my serial # to be permanently linked to my Apple ID in case it gets stolen.

You can add your products to your Apple Support Profile here:
https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
then Apple will have a record of what products you own for support purposes.

• Permanent Links in Collaboration Room

I have created a collaboration room using the SAP Meeting room template - everything seems to work except for the "Permanent Links" iview that errors as:
com.sapportals.wdf.WdfError
Does anyone know a solution?
Thanks

Detlev
I have just been told by SAP that this is a known bug and is fixed by applying
EP6 SP11 Patch 2
EP6 SP11 KWC Patch 3
EP6 Patch 2 must be applied first (I was told this but got mixed up with KWC Patch 3 which contain Patch 1 and Patch 2 BUT FOR KWC!)
I am now going to undeploy and apply the patches in the correct sequence!

• How to permanently link instagram to facebook account?

How to permanently link instagram to facebook account? Did everything including accessing instagram app from my computer and clicking on the "send to mobile" button and uninstalling/reinstalling both apps. And also no apps are showing up under facebook which you can disable or enable access to facebook. Please help!

Let me know if it works... You can add facebook in internet acounts again later if you want it...
It might reset the settings.. And may solve the problem anyhow...
i.e. you might want birthdays on your calendar for example...
Personally I dont like facebook junk cluttered on my email. However dont mind facebook notifications for facebook chat...
I dont know if your notification center also clutters you with other rubbish... Like facebook notifications that are not private chat... Mine doesnt... I think i had set the facebook settings a while ago not to spam all the rubbish facebook sends.

• Set row - permanent link possible?

Hello,
I need to find I way to link to a page with a spry data set displaying a specific content, I need this link to be permanent.
This is the page URL:
http://www.stefanoreboli.com/index.html
I can call this URL displaying a specific Content A using set row (SpryURLUtils.js):
http://www.stefanoreboli.com/index.html?row=2
The problem is that I'm adding and deleting datas so that Content A tomorrow will be no more at row=2.
Can I link to this content in a permanent way with set row or another method, ex. passing other XML parameters?
Thanks
This is the XML node:

<type>photo</type>

1002_in_kus

<projectcode>kumbh</projectcode>
<cathegory>feature</cathegory>
<year>2010</year>

naga sadhus kumbh mela

naga sadhus kumbh mela 2010 haridwar

<project>kumbh mela</project>
<text></text>
<display>

</display>
<thumbnail></thumbnail>
<info></info>
<client></client>
<background></background>

What about using an onclick event that changes the Xpath as follwos
/* select xpath when link is clicked */
function newXPath(thepath){
stefanoreboli.setXPath(thepath);
stefanoreboli.loadData();
the onlcick event calls newXPath(/items/item[type = 'photo' and code= '1002']) or similar. This will immediately change the data for the detail area without refreshing the page or having URL variables.
I hope this helps.

• Permanently Linking Signors with Signature Appearances

Our organisation has many people read and digitally sign a document from the same PC using the 'Sign with Certificate' option. Each employee has created a Signor ID and a graphic version of their signature saved in the 'appearance' section. However, every time they select their ID they also have to select their own appearance for their signature. Is there any way of linking the two, so that when they select their ID it automatically chooses their graphic signature in the 'appearance section?

I wish there were but currently there isn't one.

• Locale in JSF pages with a permanent link

Hi there,
I am migrating an application from Struts2 to JSF. In struts2 I had mapped most of the actions so that the same action returned different locale content depending on the URL:
http://site.com/en/content.action
http://site.com/es/content.action
The action returned the same JSP which showed spanish or english depending on the URL.
Is there any approach for doing this with JSF? If not, which is the recommended approach for making the same JSF (xhtml) show different locale content depending on a request parameter (?locale=en for example)
I have solved it using a changeLocale method in a managed bean, which works OK and changes locale, but as it uses Post, the pages are not SEO as cannot be crawled (the URL doesn't even change)
Thanks for any ideas/approach.
Ignacio

You can set the locale of the JSF UIViewRoot within a PhaseListener to cause JSF to use the desired locale.
Another, more comprehensive approach is to use a servlet filter to set the locales returned by ServletRequest. This is the source for the locale JSF uses if not overridden. If you configure the filter to cover your entire application you have the bonus of every technology being covered, not just JSF.

• Not Working: BlackBerry Link Remote File Access Remove Old BlackBerry from BB ID

I have: removed my blackberry q10 from blackberry link, wiped my q10, uninstalled and reinstalled blackberry link, have link version 1.1.1.32, blackberry q10 os version 10.1.0.2309 - which whenever I plug in the q10 after removing the device from link, says there is an os update, so I update it, and then it does nothing apart from rebooting the q10, or gives an error saying 'updates not available. Please check internet connection and retry.'.
Also, I have Logout/login on blackberry link, I know my q10 is activated as I have purchased items from app world, and on the computer the app world site shows that I have a q10 when I sign in. I am using the same BBID and have changed the password on my q10 to see if that made a difference, then signed out and back into link on computer with updated password. I have administrator rights on my computer.
I can access the q10 from my computer over the same wifi network, and it syncs files fine with wireless sync turned on. It is remote file access not giving the option to connect to my q10. 'BBID *email* isn't associated with a device running Blackberry 10 OS or an error occurred when trying to retrieve your information from the Blackberry ID servers.'
The problem is that although I have the same blackberry id for link and my q10, no devices show up on the remote file access screen, and I cannot access my files on my computer from my q10, yet I can sync them on my computer over the wifi network. How can I enable Remote File Access?
A problem could be that I have a Curve 9300 on my BB ID account, so if I could disable this (which I have no idea how to do after a lot of research), this might rectify why link cannot set up remote file access.
What I haven't done is wiped my q10 and uninstalled all user data from link at the same time, as then I would have to manually reload everything on my q10.
My q10 shows my computer in the settings\blackberry link\paired devices , but I 'cannot view files on *computer*'. Also, link does not show in the file manager. I set up my q10 as a permanent link not a one-off connection.

No one cares because it's not a z10 (I know because I am having the same problem and no one knows how to fix it and no threads for q10 fix)

• How do I permanently save edits I make in LR3?

I am new to this software. I have an existing collection of over 40,000 images. I am an amateur photographer making images for
my own amusement, and I also document objects that are brought to me for restoration. Both purposes are very important to me.
I have been using Picasa to manage my photos for several years. While it is limited, it is very elegant and easy to use. It also does not change the original file until a request is made for a permanent change, at which point a backup original is made. Once saved, the picasa edit can be viewed by any other viewer, software or browser I am aware of.
I am liking all the manipulations that are possible with LR3. I am concerned that there seems to be no way to save an edited file so that it can be viewed using other (non adobe) software. I want to be able to upload images to my website, and to be able to share with my customers, friends, family etc. I do not want to be locked in to Flickr . I am very concerned that I might spend huge amounts of time learning LR3 then even huger amounts of time editing my images with it, only to find at some point down the road that I will be locked in and unable to see my work using another software/viewer/browser. I.E. what if I were to convert to a Mac and decide to use Aperture 3 instead? What if somebody else comes up with software I prefer and wish to change? Am I always going to be bound up with LR to see my edited work? What if Adobe decides to no longer support LR3 and replaces it with a product that I find unacceptable, unaffordale or incomprehensible? (all three scenarios have happened to me in the past). Will I have to rework thousands of images years from now? I am very confused about this, and would much rather drop the software now before I get in too deep. I absolutely do not want to be commited to having to use anybody's software forever.
I see the line "Web Photo Gallery created by Adobe Lightroom." and it terrifies me. I may have used a Pentax camera, and Adobe software, but the images were created by me, and I wish to retain total control over my work.
JG

I quite understand and greatly value the non invasive features that preserve the original data.
I also appreciate basics, from which I can learn and extrapolate.
I edited and exported a dng file, to a jpeg format, it went from 9mb to 865kb
I edited and exported a 9.6mb jpg which became a 1.5 mg jpg.
I did a separate edit (major crop) and small adjustements using Picasa, and saved a copy. Both jpg.
The original was 11.4 mb, and the copy 5.2 mb.Used the same file to do an edit using the camera mfg
software, and the file went from 11.4 to 983kb
I may be missing something very obvious or I may be overly paranoid.
Most of the time, once I am done with an edit, I do not wish to revisit.
I am concerned about what happens to 90% or so of the data. I remain
unclear about the integrity of the "exported"/ "saved" edit in the event that original file/data is lost, or separated from
the LR coding instructions,
or if LR becomes unsupported or abandoned.
Being able to reference conservation treatment data 10 or 15 years down the road can be critical.
Memory is cheap. If the answer is multiple back ups for original data, metadata, and pertinent software, then
that is an answer. If it means the editied image is forever and permanently linked to LR, and without LR,
the original file must be re-edited to similar result, that is also an answer. If the loss of information results in image degradation
analagous to photographing a magazine print of an original transparency, or trying to work with data from a thumbnail image,
that is also an answer. Whichever if any is the most accurate, defines my approach to how I might use this software. A little like archival quality printing versus drug store snapshot prints. Time spent editing is orders of magnitude greater that time spent capturing the image. Protecting that investment of time is what I am ultimately interested in.

• How do I create a HREF link to javascript-created ages?

Hello,
I'm not sure where else to turn with this question, so I
apologize if it's not forum-related.
I'm using DreamWeaver MX to edit and tweak pages that are
created with Extensis Portfolio 8 and their NetPublish plug in. I
am attemping to add a link to my Search, Results and Details pages
that would open each of these pages in a new window in order to
make them "printer-friendly" (these pages are currently nested
within a few frames). The catalog that I've created features
keyworded photos, and since the users will all get different search
results based on what they're looking for, the address will always
vary (especially for the Results page). An example of this address
would be:
http://ourwebadress/netpub/server.np?find=&catalog=catalog&site=catalognamehere&template=
results.np&field=Keywords&op=matches&value=Dallas&value=brownstone&field2=Keywords&op2=
matches&search=View+Your+Search+Results
This address shows images based on my search for "Dallas" and
"brownstone," and because this address would change with every new
search it's useless as a permanent link.
My questions is, is there an HREF link command (or perhaps
something else) that would simply open the existing page in a new
window, no matter what the page's current HTTP address is? Any
insight with this would be very appreciated!
Many Thanks!

Thank you. After renaming the ePub file extension to ZIP, I updated the html files to replace the "http://tel" with "tel", rezipped the files, renamed to ePub -- and this corrected the issue.

• Multiple link of the same document

1.I heard that when I buy a windows server, there comes also a free edition/foundation edition of sharepoint. Is it right?
2. When I upload a document to the free edition of sharepoint, is there any position for me also to enter the metadata of the document to facilitate future searching of the document? Please show me some screenshots.
3. Under ambiguous circumstances where a document can be put into two locations/folders, people suggest to set a multiple link to this document, so that when I click the link inside either one of the folders, I can get the same document. It means there is
no need to upload the same document to both folders. It is not simply a normal shortcut which we usually come across in window explorer. Can Sharepoint do this?

1. Yes, it's called SharePoint Foundation Server.
2. Of course, this is a core functionality of SharePoint. See
https://www.google.nl/search?q=sharepoint+document+library+metadata+screenshot&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=d9nIU6usNofGPNG6gPAF&ved=0CB8QsAQ&biw=1400&bih=748 for screenshots.
3. No, although you can use the document id service to generate a permanent link and use that link in a metadata field to refer to the source doc. Not in the free version, though
