Permanently changing a video file to Movie or TV Show

I just wanted to know is there a PERMANENT way to change a video to either a tv show or a movie. If I add a file to iTunes it goes straight to Home Videos. I click on properties and then change it to say a TV Show and it will move. If I save that file to a hard drive and add it to another computer it goes straight to Home Videos again and I have to complete the process again.
Is there a simple way to change it permanently so I don't have to go through this process? Cheers

well when you buy it from the itunes store it downloads it and is put in your videos app so you can watch it whenever, even when your offline.

  • How Do I change a Video Tag from Movie to TV Show in iTunes 8?

    There used to be a drop down menu in the Video tab, but that is gone. Thanks!

    If you right-click on the video and choose "Get Info," choose the "Options" tab at the top of the info window and from there you can change the media kind to "TV Show," "Movie," or "Music Video."

  • How to Move a Video File from Movie Section to "TV Shows" Section

    I have an Ipod classic, and am trying to figure out how to move a video file from the "Movie" section to the "Tv Shows" section. I have Itunes version 1.3 which for my device is listed as the most current version.

    haha itunes 1.3, epic.
    to clarify that, I think he would have an ipod classic 80gb which the newest version is 1.3 I think.
    However to answer your question, in itunes right click the movie, go to properties, then go to options, where it has media kind put it to tv show

  • How to get sequence to change to video file settings?

    FCP used to ask if I wanted to change to whatever settings of the first video file I dropped into the timeline. Now it doesn't. How to I get that function back?

    FCP can only playback in realtime clips and seqeunces that are one of the standard setups (Easy setups).
    If you entered a custom size, FCP will not play it in real time and always will want you render it.
    Convert the footage to ProRes with a standard Framesize and see what it does.

  • How to get video file and iTunes Extra to show as one file in iTunes?

    When I purchase a movie in iTunes with iTunes Extras, after the download is finished in the "Movies" and "Genres" view they appear as one file. You click on the cover, it opens, shows the "Play iTunes Extra" button as well as a small Play arrow button next to the title to play the movie directly. Only in "List" view do they appear as separate files.
    How can I achieve that for my own iTunes extra? I tried giving the .ite the same XID as the movie file but that didn't work, they continue to appear as separate files in iTunes and the little play button when expanding the iTunes Extra doesn't work obviously. Anyone can tell me how this is done?

    Ok, I finally figured it out... there is 2 files that play a critical role in this
    first is manifest.xml
    in this file ensure that the library_item type string references the xid for your video file, and it has to be a proper xid. The iAd Producer manual explains how to create one if it does
    example:
    <library_item type="video" local_id="feature" xid="TEST:uuid:C7AE7CED-3F60-4C08-AA01-E3F9647B95CC" name="Your Movie"/>
    second file and even more critical is iTunesMetadata.plist. There is a couple of strings in there that lace the iTunes Extra to the film and vice versa
    <key>itemId</key>
    <integer>987654321</integer>
    <key>itemName</key>
    <string>Your Movie - iTunes Extras</string>
    The first is a unique 9 digit number that identifies your iTunes Extra file, the second is the name of the file that should follow the convention "Your Movie Title - iTunes Extras"
    <key>playlistId</key>
    <integer>123456789</integer>
    <key>playlistName</key>
    <string>Your Movie</string>
    This is what ties it back to the movie file, we will come back to it later where in the movie MetaData you need to place this 9 digit string
    <key>xid</key>
    <string>TEST:uuid:C7AE7CED-3F60-4C08-AA01-E3F9647B95CC_ITUNES_EXTRAS</string>
    This is the convention in how to properly xid your iTunes Extra, it is your movie's XID with "_ITUNES_EXTRAS" added to the end of it
    <key>Name File</key>
    <string>Your Movie - iTunes Extras.ite</string>
    <key>associated-adam-ids</key>
    <array>
    <integer>123456789</integer>
    The first is self explanatory but the second is again this 9 digit number that you will need to place into the meta data of your movie. It is what will make iTunes lace the two files together
    <key>xid-asset-mapping</key>
    <dict>
    <key>TEST:uuid:C7AE7CED-3F60-4C08-AA01-E3F9647B95CC</key>
    <array>
    <integer>123456789</integer>
    </array>
    <key>TEST:uuid:C7AE7CED-3F60-4C08-AA01-E3F9647B95CC_ITUNES_EXTRAS</key>
    <array>
    <integer>987654321</integer>
    </array>
    </dict>
    This is the last critical piece, it laces the two files tigthly together. Now the 9 digit number counting down from 9 is part of the unique ID of the iTunes Extra, the 9 digit number counting up from 1 needs to be put into the metadata of your movie. The annotation type for this is "contentID".
    That's pretty much it. If you did it right your files will now appear as one file in cover view just like a movie bought in the store.
    The easiest to do this right is to grab the manifest.xml and iTunesMetadata.plist from an iTunes store movie and copy paste and edit it for your purposes, which is what I did.
    Cheers everyone!

  • Audio and video tracks in movies and tv shows purchased at the itunes store do not play in sync on my desktop PC - can anybody help?

    Any thoughts?

    Purchased movies from iTunes are automatically available on Apple's cloud, but not as part of your purchased storage; purchased movies are stored free, since you can redownload them any time (unless the movies are no longer available).
    From Apple:
    iCloud automatically backs up the most important data on your device using iOS 5 or later. Once you have enabled Backup on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch .....
    What is backed up
    You get unlimited free storage for:
    Purchased music, movies, TV shows, apps, and books
    Notes: Backup of purchased music is not available in all countries. Backups of purchased movies and TV shows are U.S. only. Previous purchases may not be restored if they are no longer in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore.
    Some previously purchased movies may not be available in iTunes in the Cloud. These movies will indicate that they are not available in iTunes in the Cloud on their product details page in the iTunes Store. Previous purchases may be unavailable if they have been refunded or are no longer available in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore.
    You get 5 GB of free iCloud storage for:
    Photos and videos in the Camera Roll
    Device settings (for example: Phone Favorites, Wallpaper, and Mail, Contacts, Calendar accounts)
    App data
    Home screen and app organization
    Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS)
    Ringtones
    Visual Voicemails

  • Meta-data changes on video-files 2GB not saved when on NAS

    Hi,
    the following happes to me since a few days in itunes:
    When I try to change e.g. the title-tag of a *.m4v from "Winter 2013" to "Winterholiday 2014" the changed name gets displayed,
    but if I call the edit-window (CMD-i) again the old name appears again.
    I investigated and found the following, experimenting with 10 files of different size & video-types:
    -If the file is stored on the MAC's HD, everything works as expected, no problems.
    -If the file ist stored on a NAS, the problems comes up, if the file is larger than 2GB
    -If the file is stored on a network-share of an other computer, problem comes up, if file is larger the 2GB
    -No difference, if the share comes as AFP or SMB or NFS
    I also tried setting up the NAS, no help...the only thing which solved the problem was downgrading to iTunes 10.7...which is not really usefull if one wants to use the iTunes Store
    Any hints what I could try further ?
    Regards

    Hi.
    How are the rights configured to be inherited? Could you do a "icacls <folder>" on each level and post it back.
    Also worth considering is that this is a Linux Samba system, so it might not work as a regular windows system.

  • Front Row has ALL video files in "Movies" list. WHY?

    This is ridiculous! I have never had this problem before, but now it is out of hand. In Front Row under the "Movies" list, along with the movies that I have purchased from the iTunes store, every single video help file from various applications on my iMac are now in that list. What the heck is going on? Why is that happening? How can I make the list go back to just including movies that I have purchased from the iTunes store? PLEASE HELP! PLEASE!

    Front Row looks in three places for movie files: iTunes in your user's account, iTunes libraries that are shared on the network and inside your user's "Movies" folder. If the movies are in your user's "Movies" folder, they'll appear in Front Row. This is the way that Front Row has worked from the beginning, it's not new. Are all the video help files inside your "Movies" folder? If so, I don't think there's a way to make them go away. Your applications may need them to be there, but I've never heard of any video help files like that before.

    As the name suggests, Creative Suite is more than one application. In fact there are quite a few configurations for the Creative Suite.
    The following link will take you to a page from which you can jump to any one of a number of point products (e.g. Photoshop, Illustartor, Premiere, After Effects, etc. You'll need to determine which product it is that you're using.

    Your file is likely using MPEG-2 compression and this free software could open it:
