Permanently Removing a Program Icon From the Taskbar

I'm runnning Windows 7 and have the Skype icon both on the desktop & the taskbar - is there a way to remove it permanently from the taskbar ? if I right click the taskbar icon & pick quit Skype it is removed but reappears when I open Skype from the desktop icon ??

have had my Lenovo laptop since last Nov. with Skype pre-installed - a couple of days ago a message appeared on the screen saying that Skype wanted to make changes to the HD - thought it was an upgrade and/or update - but now when I open Skype via the desktop shortcut icon a Skype icon also moves to the taskbar at the bottom.
has anyone else experienced this ? and does anyone know how to suppress this from happening ? I only want to open Skype from the desktop shortcut and then close Skype by X-ing out of the Skype window.

After I create say a word document, file it on my desktop and then shut down my machine. The next time I open up the MacBook the file icon has been removed from the desktop. I can still retrieve the file in a folder labeled with the month I created it. But why has the OS removed it from the desktop and how can I stop it happening?
It happens to alias icons as well!

Remove Collapse/expand icons from the tray for all user except administrato

Hi,
My requirement is to remove the expand/collapse icons from the overview page for all the user but administrator can have those available.
I have set the show tray property to NO , this has made the complete tray invisible for all including the administartor as well.
I want the only icons to be inviisble and not for administrator.
Please provide your valuable inputs.

The best practice in Portal is to create 2 different design, one for users, one for administrators. I mean design : Desktop, Framework Page, Theme ...and so on.
This allows you to manage two ways of displaying or not informations, for sure user view should be different of administrator view.
And you also in your case you should have tow different "overview" iViews, one for users one for administrators.
The "show tray" property should be yes (otherwise you won't see anyting ), but the property "Show Expand/Collapse icon in tray" to NO.

Yes, this should be simple, but I'm baffled. Can the icon be permanently removed, or at least when when the Album Starter is not in use... other than clicking on "exit" which only brings it back when the computer is restarted without removing the program?

KILLING ADOBE PHOTO DOWNLOADER AND TRAY ICON.
Easy ! I use Comodo Pro Firewall.
1) Click on DEFENSE box.
2) Click on "View Active Process List"
3) Look down the list of processes. Find APDPROXY.EXE.
4) Click it, then click "Terminate and Quarantine"
5) ALL DONE ! No more icon in tray and the program is killed.
APDPROXY - This is lurking about, you can find it on SEARCH from the START button. BUT, you cannot delete it or move it and MSCONFIG does not work. You can disable it as many times as you like - it will keep coming back.
SOLUTION ! Download CCleaner, it is a great little program and free.
Using this you can click on TOOLS, then STARTUP. A list of programs are shown which are enabled at STARTUP. Disabling does not work, just click on APDPROXY and click DELETE. It`s GONE !
All over in a flash - no more ADOBE PHOTO DOWNLOADER.

Program icon in the taskbar show as unknown icons

Hey everybody,
I've had this problem with the taskbar and with 2 programs I've seen, Fraps and Firefox (which I use) I open them with the shortcut on the Taskbar but after a while it moves to another icon which is like there is no picture in the icon (See pictures)
How can and if I can, fix this?

From the snapshot you pasted above, other pinned icons are working correctly except firefox (maybe Fraps).
it should be like this
The taskbar pinned icons information are stored under
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Taskband]
maybe some corruptions exist in the registry key "Taskband", as a test, please first export the registry entry to desktop, then delete the
key "Taskband", restart explorer.exe, then re-pin the program to taskbar, system will automatically rebuild the registry key "Taskband".
And if possible, I simply suggest you uninstall and reinstall the firefox (or Fraps), this can help us eliminate some corruptions in firefox or Fraps.

How can I remove an application icon from the loc. bar and prevent it from auto loading?

I don't know the "lingo" of how-to's with Firefox; but I subscribed to www.catalogchoice.org. Somehow, the icon appears to the right of my print icon in the location bar and automatically pops-up when I go to any website. I can't find how to remove it from the toolbar and remove it from Firefox. I cancelled my subscription with them but continue to have this annoyance.

Are you trying to remove Skype entirely, or just get rid of the tool tray icon?
IIRC, you get that icon as long as Skype is running in the background. There's a checkbox in Skype options that will keep it from running on startup. That will eliminate the icon but you won't get notified for incoming calls.

How can I remove the flash icon from my taskbar when I fullscreen a video (Picture inside)

I have dual monitors and watch videos on my left screen, I don't have this problem with Chrome and it is the only thing putting me off making the Switch.
It is incredibly minor but it's make or break for me, please help /r/Firefox

If you right click on the icon on the taskbar you can select "Unpin this program from the taskbar"

How to remove Skype from the taskbar

I want to fully remove Skype from my taskbar so that when i x out the Skype window it shuts the program down . Now i have to X out both the window and the icon in the taskbar to shut it down.
No biggie, but i just find it semi-annoying and unnecessary.

it is by design that when clicking the X on the window it will close it on the notification area.if you want to hide the window when pressing X go to tools > options > advanced > advanced settings > keep skype in the taskbar while i'm signed in.
remove the checkmark and now when pressing the X it will hide it in the notification area.
but if you want to exit it just right click it and select Quit

I have an account on Box, which is a sync program.
Before the last Box updated, I could hide its icon from the menu bar, but now it is not possible and I really don't want it there.
I have tried to drag it out of there, by pressing CMD and dragging, but nothing happens.

I want to Remove RSS icon from the address bar when I click on My SMF Forum

I have a SMF forum when I click on the login page I see an RSS icon in the right of the address bar next to a star.
The forum opens in an RSS to subscribe, which is stupid as it is not an RSS feed, it is a forum. I want to get rid of this and do not know how to do it.

This is a feature of firefox, although it may have been removed from firefox 4beta ( at least in default set up, no idea why). The appearance of the RSS icon within the location bar is intended to inform that RSS feeds are available from the site in use. You may note that this firefox forum we are using has such an icon displaying in the location bar, that is because feeds are available allowing you to track the threads, no doubt something similar happens with the SMF forum you mention.
If it is possible to remove the RSS icon from the location bar it will certainly not be straightforward, other than by upgrading to 4beta, and that is available now, and may be run whilst the stable version firefox 3.6 is still installed on your computer. (iirc there is an add-on available to add the rss icon to Fx4)

Once you delete an App it gets removed form the homescreen, and deleted from the iPad.
There is no "Less used Apps" area or anything like that.
Everything you have, and you can access, is on the home screen. There is no other place to access Apps.

Did you hold the Command (Apple) key while dragging them off the sidebar? That usually makes them go *poof*.
