Permanently Turning Off Extras: PS CS5

When zooming in to do detail work with a Marquee selection active, a gray pixel guide become visible (ctrl h) to turn off. However, this also hides the selection marquee. I really don't need the gray pixel overlay, in fact I find it really annoying. Is there a way to permkanently disable this function?

You can persistently change the setting:

  • How do I permanently turn off fullscreen view in safari?

How do I permanently turn off fullscreen view in Safari?  I never want my menubar to autohide and it has been doing so since the last update.  Once I click on the little blue arrows at the top right of the screen, it is temporarily fixed but then resets to fullscreen when I re-open Safari.

Thaty is quite odd behavior as I have never seen that happen
in any Safari version since full screen was added to OSX.
It almost sounds as if the preference file for Safari may be
corrupted or some other setting file.  However, before messing
with that, export your bookmarks (File->Export Bookmarks...)
so you can retrieve them and under the Safari menu, select reset
Safari.  If this doesn't resolve things, and since you saved your
bookmarks, in Finder hold down Option key and on the Go menu
select library.  In the Preferences folder, find:
    com.apple.Safari.plist
and move it to Desktop or trash it.  Next time Safari opens it
will recreate the file and see if this fixes the issue.

  • How to permanently turn off the Session Management alert

    Hello,
I have a certain iView that is working through https.
Whenever I go to this iView I receive this pop up:
    Session Management will not work!
You can turn off this alert inside 'Support Desk' -> 'SAP Application'
I am turning this alert off and I don't see it anymore but after we are doing a server restart it is turned on again and again I need to turn it off.
How can I turn this alert off permanently, even after a server restart?

yes its all a bit strange isnt it ...... the AlertSessionManagementMismatch appears to be runtime in nature - in that if you disable the session management alerting using the support desk approach - this value becomes false.  Yet a restart doesnt keep it at false.
What I discovered is - IGNORE what you see when you edit the service - change it physically to FALSE (even if it says false) and save it. This will persist it at the next restart.

  • How do i turn off extras by defualt?

Every time I start up Photoshop 2014, "View > Extras" is checked by default, giving me really annoying pink boxes and lines every time an object is selected.  Where in my preferences can I change this so that it isn't on by default?  So far, I have tried:
    - Turning off the setting and then saving out my workspace....FAIL
    - Going into "View > Show > Show Extra Options" and unchecking EVERYTHING, yet it doesn't prevent those lines from happening....FAIL
For the record, you cannot uncheck this setting without having a file open, it is grayed out by default without a file open.
Please help.  Is there a setting in the preferences that I don't know?

If you open exactly one document, go uncheck View - Smart Guides, then close the document and Quit/Close Photoshop, the next time you open it the guides are back on?
Have you checked / reset permissions on the folders containing your preferences?
Have you tried saving a named workspace after changing the option?

  • How do I create a custom preset in my print window? I want to permanently turn off 2-sided printing under the Fiery Features?

At my office I work on a mac, I print to a Canon C5240, my print dirver is current (Canon iR-ADV C5200s-B2 psv1.ous). We just got this new computer at our office and it defaults to 2-sided printing.
The cannon people said we need change our printer setting on our sever to single sided printing, our IT guy says we have. However, we still continue to get all prints 2-sided.
The only way we've been able to get around this is when we are in the print dialog: manually changing the page setting > Fiery Features > and turning off 2-sided printing-- every time. It's so frustrating.
Is there a way to save this preset rather then have it always revert back to the default print settings?
    PLEASE HELP!

    Hello,
Click on the Presets dropdown item, choose save as Default, Save As, or Maybe just Save depending on OS version.

  • How do you permanently turn off iTunes match?

I just updated my iPhone 4 to iOS7. I'm very excited and happy with the update. Everything looks very nice and is much more intuitive than before. However, I am having one slight problem. I can't turn off iTunes match.
iTunes match is not something I like to use on my phone. I've always found it to be a little annoying and it tends to get in the way of my music listening experience. Once the update was complete, I opened up settings, went to music, and deselected iTunes match. However, it's not staying unselected. Everytime I look back into the music options it's turned on again. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I've been having the same problem for about a week now and it's driving me crazy. I've changed passwords in everything to reflect the new protocols (that nobody informed us about, I might add) of having at least one capital, etc. etc., but that hasn't changed anything. I do have one song pending download that WON'T download because the file at iTunes is apparently corrupt, and I can't seem to simply eliminate this one song from the queue. HELP!!!!

  • How do I permanently turn off "Save Password" in Safari?

I use 1Password. I never want Safari to save a password OR to ask if it should. How do I turn that off?
    thanks

Thank you for the answer. To Apple, however: that's not very user friendly to put it under "AutoFill" rather than "Passwords."
I preferred the old "Never for this website." There are low-security sites that I don't worry about., but with Yosemite, you have to say "no" every time you go to a high-security site like your bank, or pass up the feature altogether. And this morning I found that because of s slip of my finger sometime, my MacAir was giving immediate access to my bank accounts to anyone who had my computer, and just deleting the cookies for the site wasn't enough. The old method allowed the user more options in return for a one-time choice at a new website.
Since Steve Jobs died, Apple is making all sorts of "improvements" that aren't, in my opinion. Like eliminating font choices on the desktop, or giving us a new look sometimes featuring small, gray on gray words, and making that worse by putting them in delicate Neue Helvetica Light. Nine-point, Neue Helvetica Light in gray on a gray or even a black screen on an iPhone screen to be used outdoors is just bad design.

  • How can I turn off Adobe Reader X Popup Bubbles Permanently?

I feel like I've gone backwards ten years to the first version of Windows XP, when everything resulted in an annoying popup or dialogue or bubble that required my attention and my intervention.  My hope is for Adobe to learn the lesson that Microsoft learned ten years ago.
Adobe Reader X is full of popups.  How can I turn them off permanently?  I've spent hours searching the internet and the forums.  I've seen the messages that explain dismissing a popup on a document permanently turns it off for that document.  I've seen the message that reveals a registry key called "bShowTaskButtonInfoBubble".
But I want to turn off the popups for all documents permanently.  I don't want to navigate to the tiny little 'x' on the bubble of every document.
The bShowTaskButtonInfoBubble key doesn't exist anywhere in my registry.  I'm comfortable searching with regedit and making changes.  The key doesn't exist.
How can I permanently turn off Adobe Reader X popup bubbles?

In my earlier message, I explained that I found such a message.  It was the
exact same message you're showing me.
Now what?  As I explained, that key doesn't exist in my registry.  Is it a
    Boolean?  a DWORD? or what?
BTW, it's not risky to "search" the registry.  It's risky to "guess" what
kind of change to make to your registry and then change it according to
    your guess.

  • How do I turn off thumbnails?

How do I permanently turn off thumbnails feature? Deleting one by one is too tedious.

Right-click context menu that shows three choice for creating a new pref: String, Integer, Boolean.
You need to select the last choice: Boolean
In the dialog that opens you can paste the name of the first pref that you need to create:
    browser.pagethumbnails.capturing_disabled
Click OK to proceed to the next dialog where you can select the true value for this pref.
You can repeat this this for the second pref and paste this for the name:
    pageThumbs.enabled
Click OK to proceed to the next dialog where you can select the false value for this pref.

  • Turning off Power-On "Chime" during start-up

    Hello fellow Mac users,
I need advice on how to temporarily and/or permanently turn off the
Power-On/Restart "Chime" during start-up on iMac (with wireless MAC keyboard).
I tried holding down the 'mute' button during start-up until Apple symbol shows up and that did not work.
I also tried 'muting' volume before restart and that also did not work.
My external speakers are shut off but the Chime sound still comes from the iMac speakers.
    Thanks,
    Edwardson

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
    Some folks use Statrtup Sound.
If you completely silence your Mac you remove its form of communicating issues to you during startup. The chime alerts you that the Mac has passed the POST, Power On Self Test and has found usable RAM. When it fails to do so it may sound other tones during startup to alert you to what is wrong.

  • Turn off library caching for a Mail client on the Mac?

Hi..is it possible to turn off library caching for a Mail client on the Mac? At work I have outlook 2007. I setup Mail client to sync Mail, contacts and calendar. The cache is stored in the library hidden folders. Is it possible to permanently turn off caching?

I am getting more and more bewildered.  I just looked at google mails settings to see if they do something different from the isp I use and there they say the following: if the sent messages aren't stored on the server, then where are they stored? What happens to them if I set my preferences this way?  I want to wail and tear my hair out. I feel so very stupid.

    Recommended imap settings....
    Apple Mail
From the Mail menu, click Preferences > Accounts > Mailbox Behaviors
    Drafts:
Store draft messages on the server > do NOT check
    Sent:
Store sent messages on the server > do NOT check
    Junk:
Store junk messages on the server > checked
Delete junk messages when > Never
    Trash:
Move deleted messages to the Trash mailbox > do NOT check
Store deleted messages on the server > do NOT check

  • Why Doesn't Metronome Turn Off?

Bizarre. I'm running Garageband on iPhone. In the Preferences tab there is a switch to turn the metronome off. But every time I record, the dawgone thing turns itself back on!
How do I permanently turn off the metronome??

    léonie wrote:
But this is a flaw or bug since, if I want the metronome off, I want it off.
The other thing is that, when it does come on, it requires me to hit the metronome symbol twice to turn it off.
I tried again, and sadly, that is what is happening (version 2.0.2 on my iPad).  Definitely a bug. I did not notice it in earlier versions.
You may want to send feedback to Apple to let the developers know. You can use this form: Apple - GarageBand IOS - Feedback
Or, if you have a developer account, use the Bug Reporter there.
    Added:
The metronome switching the control bar has been introduced with GarageBand 2.0.2. Have you already updated to GarageBand 2.0.3?  I have not tested with 2.0.3 on my iPad.
Okay, thanks for confirming this. I knew it didn't seem right. I rarely use this app, but thought I'd give it a spin for recording a song idea with multi-tracks. Hard to believe this got by the beta testers since you can't record without running into the metronome all the time.
