Permission changes after running maintainence scripts

Everytime I ran the daily, weekly and monthly scripts, I will exprience a change in permission when I run disk utility. This is where it changed:
Permissions differ on ./private/var/log/secure.log, should be -rw------- , they are -rw-r-----
Is this permission change normal?
They will stay correct until the next time I run the maintainence scripts though.

Yes, that is normal; the BaseSystem.pkg defines the permissions on that log as 0600, while the weekly cron task sets the permissions on it to 0640 while rotating the log files. The difference between these settings is that any administrator can read the file while it is 0640, because the file's group is the admin group and the third value controls the group access.

What is the application release?
If you are on 11i, please make sure you have (Patch 8198363: INDENTATION PROBLEM WHILE GENERATING RTF OUTPUT USING RTF TEMPLATE) applied and check then.

Server crashes after running Calc Scripts Verison II

I running 11.1.2.1 on my laptop, and after After runnning a calc scripts ... and shutting down essbase I am attempting manually start up my Essbase system, and now the Foundation services, and essbase admin services are taking forever too start, then once i am able too start Essbase EAS/ Adminstration Server = stopped
are these the right logs

Openscript closes after running the script successfully

After I run the test ,OpenScript closes without any message.This is the first time that I am using the databank and getting this issue .I am using a databank directly connected to my application databse.Do I need to close the connection to resolve this issue?

Automator workflow hangs indefinitely after running Python script

Hello,
I have an Automator workflow set up to use a one-line shell script to launch a Python script. The Python script has a GUI and stays open for the user to interact with it. It launches fine, but I've noticed that my Automator workflow hangs and the spinning workflow cursor won't disappear from the menu bar unless I manually kill the workflow or quit the Python app. Not a huge deal to kill it manually, but annoying.
I saw someone posted a way to kill an Automator workflow using an AppleScript or shell script embedded within the workflow, but adding that as a second step doesn't work for me—the Automator workflow never gets to that step, presumably because it's waiting for my Python app to close. Anyone know a way to make the Automator workflow kill itself after launching a Python script?

By default, AppleScript (and, by extension, Automator) will wait for theshell process to exit before continuing the workflow (or exiting if the shell script action is the last step.
This can be overcome by launching the shell process as a background process, which returns control to AppleScript/Automator, and allows your workflow to continue (or end).
Just append:
&> /dev/null
after your shell command to launch it in the background, e.g.:
/usr/bin/python /path/to/your.py &> /dev/null
and you should get what you expect.

Party Shuffle Not Refreshing/Changing after running Genius on 8.0.2

Ever since running a few Genius playlists, the Party Shuffle feature is stuck. I change playlists, hit refresh and it stays locked on the last Genius playlist. Very weird. I've restarted iTunes several times too.
Anyone else?

Another thing -- I just rebooted my computer and got the same thing: opened iTunes and I still have absolutely no control over the party shuffle. It's stuck on the last Genius list. Changing lists, refreshing does nothing.
Is my iTunes DB corrupted or is this a nice bug that they'll fix in 8.0.3 (please!).

After running sql scripts in SQL plus, where are the results(tables) stored

I am using oracleDb10g . i have used SQL plus to create a database. I have run 2 sql scripts and constructed the tables , but i dont know where the data is stored and how to make the data into a database, so that i can use it for connection through some UI.
for example: schema.sql, data.sql script files.
SQL> start schema.sql
SQL> start data.sql
The tables are created.
Now how can i group those table into a database and name it.(i mean i can create a database using SQL plus, but how to dump the tables into the database created). Because i want to use this database name for connecting to MS SQL, so i need the name.

Permission change after reinstalling leopard

Because my computer froze totally, I had to reinstall the system.
Doing so, all the disks except the start up one had their permissions changed and a little lock appeared on their icon. So far, I cannot copy anything on any disk. The system says that "the disk cannot be modified".
Modifying permissions with an account admin or the root user does not work. I got an "error code -50" when I try to modify permissions using the root account, using the finder.
All impacted disks/partitions are formatted in MAC OS extended and are journalled.
Any idea what might cause this and what could be done to resolve it?

Window changes size after running - Bug?

I have been having an issue (a mildly infuriating one) where my window size changes after running. See images
The window expands by the size of the scroll bars in the x and y axis. It only happens sporadically - I can't figure out a way to predict when it will happen or not. I'll just be running/stopping the program and then bam! different front panel size. I've also had it happen on multiple different machines with multiple different programs. There was no code in any of the programs that resized the FP window. I know I can force the runtime size with VI properties, but...

I gutted the linked vi (with notes on what was changed) and attached it if you want to try and reproduce it. After some more playing around with it, I realized it is any time I first open the VI and run it. It seemed random because the VI was part of a project and I was frequenly opening / closing / running etc.

Set-tmp-permission is not running in my Solaris 10 Netra CP3060 blade serve

Hi All,
In my Solaris 10 - Netra CP3060, the following particular script is not running:
lrc:/etc/rc2_d/S00set-tmp-permissions
lrc:/etc/rc2_d/S07set-tmp-permissions
Above script is to set the default permission of /tmp & /var/tmp while rebooting if it found any inconsistencies. I changed the file permission of /tmp and rebooted my server. As the above scripts are not running, it shouldn't change the file permission to default. But the file permission changed after reboot.
Please let me know is there any other service running related to this in my server. Was this script incorporated in SMF facility, if so whats that service name?

Now, I need to run unix command something like
host('mv form1.fmx FORM1.FMX') but it's not working
I tried to append the command mv form1.fmx FORM1.FMX' to the compile.sh shell script but also it's not working although the rest lines of the shell script is running well

Try to run grant.sql once again. The ALTER AUDIT might change (drop+create) some tables and then remove grant to people user. By issuing grant.sql (after updating correctly) you reapply the grant as well.

My colleague found the problem. We were using extendables library and we still haven't figured out what was actually happening, but removing it solved the problem.

OpenScript compatibility & unable to open instance after running test scrip

I have an open SR with Oracle (sr#3-6909979251).
We purchased OATS (Test Manager and Open Script) and we also pay for oracle support. After I run test scripts, I have issues opening the instance that test scripts run against. For example, I run them in our PreProduction environment, after I run all 100+ test scripts, I try to log into PreProduction as usual (without using open script or even having it open), and at the point where the form would typically open - I get an error message instead (which I have attached to the SR). This happens after I run scripts. Noone else has the problem, and I am the only one that has OpenScript loaded on my machine, and it always happens after running test scripts, so it must be related to OpenScript some how.
In the SR, they are implying that its because OpenScript is not compatible with EBS 11i. That can't be the issue...can it? And if it is, if I install the new OpenScript R12 to run against EBS 11.5.10.2?
I can't seem to find what versions OpenScript is compatible with on MOS>Compatibility.
Any thoughts on this or has anyone else had issues opening their EBS instance after running test scripts?

I was playing around with my profile settings and comparing them to other users. I had a value in ICS: Forms Launcher, but the other admin person did not. I removed that link, now the instance FINALLY (after over a month of issues) opens without a problem.

1. This configuration will be working for dedicated server only.
2. It seems you are using 10g R1 as 5560 port is default for EM on 10g R1.
3. Note as you didn't specify specific interface for incomming connections, rules will be applied on all interfaces available on your operating system.
4. correct your commands:
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 5560 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 22 -j ACCEPT
5. If you are using Redhat or RH clones (OEL) then you don't neet to write the script.
Just flush existing rules, execute your commands and execute:
iptables-save > /etc/sysconfig/iptablesDuring init process (if iptables service is allowed) it will restore iptables settings from configuration file (location: /etc/sysconfig/iptables)
