Permission issue - local vs OD user

Question

I setup server with an admin user called "mrjason". 
Later in setting up folders, I created a new sharepoint (from wazmac.com setup guide for schools) for all teachers folders, called t_home.
I successfully setup other teachers, including a OD-based "mrjason", and set their home directories to the new sharepoint.  All fine.
I want to give administrators fuill read/write access to all the home folders (and subfolders).  What I did is in Server Admin, I dragged "Administrators" into the ACL permissions, and gave r&w with "this,child folders, child files, descendants".
However, I am not able to see the beyond the home folder name (red circle on a teachers documents, downloads, etc folders).
I'm logged into the server console, as the "local mrjason", not the "OD mrjason".  So I think this might be an issue....  however, I checked, both the local and OD mrjason are members of the "Administrators" (80) group in both the local and OD directories. 
Another possible issue, Is the "mrjason" listed under the POSIX permissions: only has "this folder" - so.... is this the local mrjason, or the OD mrjason?
And is the "Administrators" listed in the ACL - is the local "mrjason" a member of that group, or are the local and OD "Administrators" (80) separate groups?

update: 
It looks like users created since I added the ACL I *can* see when logged on as the local "mrjason", but older users I can not. 
How do I force the server manager to re-apply all the permissions?
