Permission to copy dvds to my SSD for faster installation

I would like permission to copy dvds to my SSD for faster installation.
I would also like to know if the standard multi-volume installer methods work with Master Collection CS5 installation where discs are organized into
DISK1\
DISK2\
DISK3\
what disc number for acrobat 9, if any?
can I copy the content disc (no installer)?
or do you use a different method? of course once it's on the SSD, it would be impossible to change discs as the installer currently requests using discs.

  • How do you run to Drives on the same screen. I installed a ssd and a hhd to my mac but i can only view the content of the drive only if i boot of that drive. Im try to have my ssd for fast boots and hhd for my music, movies etc. Please help.

I installed a samsung 840 pro SSD to my primary slot and relocated my 1.5 TB HDD to a data double where my optical drive was. I transfered my apps and Mac OS X to my SSD for fast boots and all my itunes movies, music, Iphoto etc to my HDD. I rebooted off my SSD then seen all the data on my HHD itunes movies, music, iphotos etc i cannot view on my SSD. So my question is how do you view all the content on both the ssd and hdd on the same screen with having to boot off one or the other?

No, what I'm saying is that once you boot into OSX, you should be able to see both drives listed.  If you don't then either OSX is hiding the other drive because it sees it as a boot drive and is trying to protect the contents from novice users or there's another problem.  If it's the first thing (i.e. it's a protection thing), then your only option would be to boot into the old drive, copy off all your personal data to an external backup drive, then reboot into the SSD and go into Disk Utilities and wipe/reformat the second drive so that you can see it as a regular secondary drive.  Then when you see it as that, you can copy your data back to it.
Be carefull poking around in Disk Utility as you can easily lose your data.  It's possible the Mac just isn't mounting that second drive because it sees it as another boot drive.  Whatever you do, don't accidentally erase it without getting a copy of your data off of it because you obviously don't have that on your SSD now.

  • How do I play and then copy DVD movie to mac for film editing

I have just come home with my new mac book pro.  As recomended by the reseller I have connected an external  slim portable DVD writer/reader so that I can view, ...DVD's.  I am unable to view or copy the file contacts to the mac so that I can then later open the file in imovie for editing and clipping.
I would very much appreciate your assistance on this.  I am trying to make a home movie of old cine films that have been converted to DVD.

You need to use a video encoder such as Handbrake (Free)
    https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/12987/handbrake
    or
    iFFMpeg - Shareware ($20.40)

Once encoded you can edit using Final Cut or iMovie

Welcome to the Club! Got the same Problem and had a really hard time reaching the Customer Support because they were down due to maitenance! Just wrote to their experts chat and hope to get an answer in this life!
I tried to authorize my Computer and eBookreader with a new Adobe-ID, but it says I've done used this ID too often, even though it was brandnew! Can't copy my just-purchased eBook because "Copying is not allowed".
I hold my thumbs for you that Adobe solves this Problem fast enough. Other ways I'll sell my eBookreader and buy the Kindle-Reader from Amazon and say GOOD BYE to Adobe!

  • Copying DVD contents for personal use only

I've got some instructional dvd's that I want to take with me to university. But the only problem is i don't want to take the actual dvd's with me. I've tried using Handbrake to copy them off, but the dvd's have different tracks.
What I want is a full image of the dvd's that I can load into dvd player and watch them. I've tried using Disk Utility to create an image of the dvd, but it doesn't work as i want. I can't view it in Dvd player after extracting it.
    Does anyone have any idea?
    Thanks
    Chris
Just to re-iterate, these copies will be completely for my own use, and just so I don't risk loosing or damaging the original disks.
    Thanks

    Cheers guys all sorted now.
Used disk utility to create an image and then extracted it and dragged the video_ts into dvd player.
    Thanks for all the help!

  • Script for automatically copying DVDs/CDs to disk on insert?

I just started to copy about 500 Data-DVDs (and some CDs) to an external FAT32 USB-disk. I do that by dragging the mounted disk from the desktop to the drive while holding down the option-key.
Is there a way to automate that? Would be easier if the Mac started the copying whenever a new DVD/CD is mounted on the desktop. And ejecting the disk by itself would be nice too. That way I'd be sure to notice that another copy is done and could put in the next disk ...

    Hi,
I want to copy DVDs/CDs to a harddisk as well. But to an external USB drive.
So, when "/dev/disk1" is my MacBooks internal optical drive, how do I address the external USB-HD?
Apple-Script doesn't want me to use the path: "/Volumes/FILME/" ...
You'll want to leave the superdrive path the same but change the duplicate to desktop part to your own external hd. I'm pretty sure you get it just making sure.
Applescript doesn't mind the path you chose just the UNIX style slash format oppose to mac colon delimintated. Try this
    (/Volumes/FILME/...) as POSIX path
    --or
    :Volumes:FILME:...

I had recently updated from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 and thus had to re download Adobe Digital Editions. I downloaded Version 4.0 but the problem seemed to be with the authorization between the e-reader and the computer. While in ADE click the help button and click erase authorization then re do your user id and password. It worked for me.

  • Copy DVD's in Windows 7

At the risk of embarrasment, I need to ask a basic question about making copies of my new family movie 8mm/Super8 conversions for distribution to my siblings.  Dragging and dropping in windows explorer resulted in burning the "Start DVD" and "Video TS" files to the blank disc, but the new copy wouldn't play on my dvd player.  Looking for recommendations on making DVD copies.
    Thanks in advance.
    Bob
PS.  Anybody know why my profile picture doesn't show on this or any post?

    Bob,
I agree with Steve. ImgBurn is a great, free burning utility, that actually offers more control, than PrE allows.
I also recommend using high-quality blank media, like Falcon Pro, Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden, and NOT using brands, such as Memorex, recent Ritek, recent TDK, or any "store brand," as one has no idea (though ImgBurn will actually tell you), exactly what brand of media you have - those "do not use" brands actually buy the cheapest brand that day, and then rebrand them. A spindle might have multiple actual brands, though they all will have the reseller's logo on them.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

    Thanks avanishdivya.
I was hoping to avoid that route, but guess it's all I can do.
    Thanks for your quick response.
Do you know if it is a Carbon Copy Cloner issue or just the way Adobe sets it up?
For future reference, where should the scratch disk reside? I heard it should not be on the boot drive?

What you want to do is select the files you want to move then go File>Relocate Masters. Your images will then be referenced to a location you select. Aperture will still continue to manage the images, but the external hard drive must be connected if you want to make adjustments. Aperture will retain Metadata and any adjustment information. Your original images will stay unmodified on your external drive.

  • DVD ripper software recommendations for OS 10.4

Having a heck of a time trying to rip a dvd of a performance of mine, so there is no copyright issue here.  Tried Mac the Ripper, didn't work (kept quitting).  Also heard of Handbrake and DVD Ripper.  Can't seem to find a version that will run with OS 10.4.11.  These products are either unavailable or are updated and won't work on my Mac.  I've thought of upgrading to 10.5, but that's hard to find as well, and costs an arm and a leg through other people.  Apple doesn't seem to even have that as a basic download anymore.  HELP!  Any suggestions on what I can do to rip my DVD onto my hard drive so I can edit?

Please be aware that Fair Use, the doctrine that allows the back-up of your DVD/CDs for personal is not currently legally accepted in the UK and many countries outside of the US.
Hence, here it is illegal to copy DVD's to any format and circumventing the copy protection is a breach of the copyright owners rights.
Whilst I accept that copying is inevitable (you thieving bast*rds...!), please keep discussion away from any information about breaking DRM etc, as we will not allow the forums to be used for discussion of illegal activities.
Mac DVD Ripper is very good and is my primary ripper. I also have RipIt which is pretty good too. MDRP is often discounted to around $35 and has been worth it for me.
It seems well supported and is updated frequently. Nothing bad to say about RipIt, but it does have less options.
    Thanks.

Permissions to copy ebooks are embedded in the ebook's datum by publishers
and distributors.  They're not assigned by ADE and reinstalling ADE won't
do anything to change that.  Reinstalling ADE could mess up your computer's
files so that ADE won't work correctly.
If ADE is working, and your ebook is on the MAC, you can look to see what
permissions have been assigned.  When ADE is in Library view, click on the
arrow next to the ebook's title.  You'll get a drop-down box that will
contain 'Item Info'.  Click on that, and you'll see the permissions.
There's nothing you can do about the nature of the permissions.

  • [URGENT] SSD for design & photo editing

I'm about to buy a new laptop with the following specification
    - Intel i3 2350M
    - 8GB DDR3 PC-1066
    - Intel HD Graphics 3000
    - 120GB Intel SSD 335 as primary internal drive
    - External 2.5" HDD with USB 2.0 enclosure
I want to use this laptop for my primary graphic design job, which will require many and many read & Write data, both for page file and of course the file data itself. I will use Adobe Photoshop for editing.
    1st Scenario:
    - I use SSD for OS, apps and scratch disk and also for temporary data file during the editing process.
    - The external disk will always be the data disk. After I finish editing the file, I will copy it back onto my external disk.
    2nd Scenario:
    - I use SSD for OS and apps.
    - The external will be the scratch disk and data disk, so I won't copy it onto my SSD.
    My questions are:
    1. if I use the 1st scenario, how about my SSD? how can I prevent my SSD from damage?
    2. for the 2nd scenario, how long my SSD will last, and how will my laptop performance be? since the external disk only have USB 2.0
    connection.

If you have an SSD you can run the cache and programs on the same drive.  However, many recommend a scratch disk size of 100-200 gigs so that will not work here unless you opt for a larger SSD.  Otherwise an internal spinner is recommended that does not contain the program files, or idealy any other files that may want to get acessed at same time (only one read/write head per drive).
With 32 gig of RAM you may not need the constant use of the scratch drive unless working on large images with lots of layers.  So see no advantage to moving folder to SSD for temp work environment.
From what I read the new crop of SSD do not have the wear problems of the older versions.
