Permissions problem: Public folders/Shared Calendars across domains with Linked accounts

I have a linked mailbox that is accessed by an account in a trusted domain.  The account can access e-mail, send e-mail, free-busy search, etc, just fine.  However, there seems to be a permissions issue with the public folders and shared calendars.
When trying to access the public folders for which permissions have been assigned to the linked account from the trusted domain account, I get an error, or just can't see the folders.  The only way I can view public folders is by setting default permissions
on the folder to 'Read'.
I've found some other threads that reference this problem, and a blog that no longer exists as the solution:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrclientslegacy/thread/5fdf4cd7-3543-4b5d-94cc-317446ddaa46
If anyone has any ideas or the solution that was shown in the above referenced blog, I'd be very grateful!

Hi,Shane,
I believe you can try James' suggestion in the link
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrclientslegacy/thread/6c88569d-e693-46f4-a8fa-e1f9e5b6234e/ to get it solved.
Per the
Detecting and Correcting msExchMasterAccountSid Issues  it says,
Active Directory does not enforce simultaneous performance of all these tasks, nor does it enforce removal of the Associated External Account or
msExchMasterAccountSid if an Active Directory account is re-enabled.

Sharon

  • Accessing shared time capsule disk with two accounts

    Hey guys,
I have an airport time capsule (5th gen) and want to access a connected USB disk with my Mavericks macbook. This basically works fine: i can mount it using the finder (usually I do an automatic mount when starting my account, since I put the drive into the Login Items for my user), and the disk is secured with a disk password.
However, I have a quite annoying issue when using two accounts on the same macbook, which is my standard use case as I share the macbook with my wife: Only the user that first accesses the disk can use it, the second user gets a "no access permission" error for the disk. The second user can then disconnect the drive and reconnect, but I find this very annoying, because I have to do it all the time, and I'm wondering if I'm the only user with this problem.
Is there any way to specify access rights for the drive, such that I can access it with both accounts simultaneously? BTW, I've already tried to define specific access rights on the disk (Context Menu > Get Info > Sharing and Permissions), and I tried to change the disk security mode to "With accounts" and "With device password" - none of it made any difference.

Only the user that first accesses the disk can use it, the second user gets a "no access permission" error for the disk. The second user can then disconnect the drive and reconnect, but I find this very annoying, because I have to do it all the time, and I'm wondering if I'm the only user with this problem.
That is how Apple built it. No fixes.. no repairs.. it is a hassle of protected type file systems. Windows you can do all sorts of fudgery.. but the lack of protection (amongst others) is why you use a Mac.
Is there any way to specify access rights for the drive,
This is not a rights issues.. it is that one user at a time is allowed. Each user must logout before the next user can gain access..
I do not know of any workaround.
Pondini recommends using disk image for data on the TC.. since you can otherwise mess up the TM backup. See http://pondini.org/TM/TCQ3.html
His comments don't apply to your usage of the USB drive.. but his workaround may help.
I am wondering if you create the sparsebundle on the USB drive and allow everyone access, once mounted on the computer it might allow two user accounts access at the same time.. Sorry I have no need to try it and I cannot recall anyone attempting.. but it might present a way around the issue.. !!

  • Calendar (MobileCal) crashes with Exchange account

I am installing a new iPad Air with iOS 7.0.4.
I configure my Exchange account on the iPad and go to the Calendar application. It opens up and starts showing some of the appointments. After a short while it crashes. Next time I try to open it, it crashes immidietly. If I remove the Calendar option from the Exchange account (leaving all the rest) Calendar opens iup OK. Once I re-enable calendar in the Exchange account it all happens again (opening up for a short while, crashing after showing some appointments and then crashing immdietly every time I open it).
I am using the same exchange account on my iPhone 5 (iOS 7.0.4) with no issues.
All other apps (email, tasks, notes and contacts) work fine with this exchange account.
I tried resseting the iPad completly and setting up the Exchange account as the first thing I do and got the same results.
Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be and how I might be able to resolve it?

Do you know why my mail keeps crashing?

  • Social sharing in single edition with pro account

    Hello,
I'm confused by the explanation on the Adobe website, so if anyone could explain to me the following, that'd be nice!
A client of us has a Professional account for DPS, but so far he has only used it to make a Single Edition app. Now this client would like to add Social Sharing features to his app, but everywhere I look I find that Social Sharing is only available for Professional accounts.
In this instance, the client has a Professional account, but just hasn't used to make Multifolio apps. Is it possible in this case to add Social Sharing to his Single Edition app? After all, he does have a Pro account?
    Thanks!

Is there actually a reason why not?
I mean, if it's possible to implement this in multi-folio apps, I can imagine that someone might want to share something that's in a single edition.  In my opinion, this just doesn't make sense and is one more letdown for the entire DPS thing...
Guess we'll have to try to explain this to our customer or look for an alternative method for digital publishing instead of DPS.

  • Calendar groups work with .me account calendars?

i upgraded to the new ical features and would love to group my calendars...
i've created a group and noticed it's created locally (on my mac). my calendars are on my .me account and unable to drag them to the group... any advice?

That is a good question. I'm not sure but I would contact MobileMe chat support directly to find out if you don't get any other responses.

  • Permissions problem copying folders from Leopard to Lion

I just got a new iMac (running Lion) to replace my old G4, running Leopard (10.5.8).
I'm trying to copy entire folders (with many items inside) from the old G4 to the new iMac.
I get a message saying something to the effect that "One or more items can't be copied because you don't have permission to read them" ...
I'm the only one using the machines so it's not a question of ownership or user accounts.
Is there any way (I guess with Terminal or Unix commands) to change the permissions en masse for all the items in a folder at once? I can certainly get info on any individual item or folder and change the ownership that way, but that'll take a long time for folders with many items.
Thanks, in advance, for any help you can provide.

Hello, easiest way is with BatchMod, it's much better/easier than the Finder for recursive Permission changes...
    http://www.lagentesoft.com/batchmod/index.html
Use the Apply to enclosed items checkbox after dropping a Folder on BatchMod.

  • Migrate Exchange Server 2010 Public Folder shared calendars to Exchange Server 2013

    Dear All,
I have an question about calendars under public folder migrating to new exchange server 2013. When completed the PF migration progress, will it also migrate calendars under sub-folder under PF to new PF mailbox?
For example: in exchange 2010 PF:
    In exchange 2013
               \Public Folder\sales\A1_calendar
              --->
               \ Public Folder\sales\A2_calendar
    ---> ?
                \Public Folder\sales\A3_calendar
    --->  ?
                \Public Folder\sales\A4_calendar
    ---> ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Willis Wong

  • Sharing calendar across a LAN?

Without having to use MobileMe or buy an external ap' is there any way to have two or three computers on a home network share a sych'ed iCal database?
I thought it may be possible to have the main data on a NAS device (i.e. - my TimeCapsule) but that will obviously only work if you can point iCal to find its data somewhere other than where it expects it to be.
Any thoughts please O' wise ones...

    Hello Adam,
To sync calendars between multiple computers (or even user accounts) you need something to do the work for you.
    You can:
    1. Do it by hand by clicking on the calendar in question on one computer and going to File > Export and then bringing the resulting ics file to each computer and importing it (again by hand). You will have to do this each time you make changes on any of the computers and you will end up with duplicates so I don't really suggest this route.
    2. Use MobileMe -- It does all transferring and reconciling of the various iCal entries for you in the background.
    3. Use a syncing program (Do a google search for "ical sync mac" and you'll find quite a few)
    Cheers

  • Anyone have a problem submitting podcast to a personal domain with iWeb 08?

I created a new website with several podcasts and published fine to a personal domain. Works great. When I try to submit the podcasts to iTunes through iWeb I get the following error message:
"We had difficulty reading this feed. Bad http result code:401"
Anyone else get this? Is the personal domain messing with the feed?
    Any help appreciated.

Well... I have mine from godaddy...
In iWeb06 the redirect was a long URL... now it's shorter (or so it seems).
GoDaddy still handles the redirect - like it did before.
The change happens in the CSS scripting (HTML?) where iWeb thought it needed to send the RSS to www.threeboysproductions.com it wasn't taking in iTunes.
Forcing iWeb to rewrite the RSS script to web.mac.com/captmench.
People wanting to go to www.tbp.com still can... and see it as such. The subscribe at iTunes won't matter.
    Good luck,
    CaptM

  • Authentication - multiple domains with multiple accounts

    Dear All,
Consider an environment where a user, Joe Bloggs, has an account on two Windows domains:  DOMA and DOMB.  DOMA is a domain that all users in the organisation are members of.  DOMB is a domain used by a smaller subset of users.  The user's
machine is part of the DOMB domain.
I'd like to deploy SharePoint 2013 on DOMA and have the user, logged on to their DOMB machine, seamlessly authenticate (through IWA) with SharePoint 2013.
So far, I've thought of the following solutions:
    1.  Build a trust between the two domains.  Possible, but the AD information in DOMA is more up-to-date than that in DOMB and I'd like to use that to populate SharePoint user profiles.  Also, DOMB is likely to be deprecated in the future.
    2.  Use WorkPlace Join.  Unfortunately, devices are running Windows 7 and WorkPlace Join only works for devices running Windows 8.
I've wondered whether it's possible to map two accounts on separate domains together so that a user on DOMB can effectively masquerade as their corresponding user on DOMA when authenticating with SharePoint, but haven't come across a way of doing this, yet.
Any ideas?  Or, am I completely mad?!
    Thanks in advance.

    1) Is your only option for seamless logon with IWA. It is not possible to map accounts "together" so-to-speak. SharePoint stores a reference to the user's SID, which must match the user making the request.
An ADFS trust might be another option, although that increases your deployment footprint and complexity.

  • Home sharing apps - one computer with multiple accounts & itunes libraries

Hi, Three family members (mom, dad & daughter) now have iphones. We have a single imac and each has his/her own account on the imac and his/her own itunes library.
Is there a way to share apps or sync apps from different itunes libraries with each other on the same computer in the same family? Can we do it without sharing itunes login information?
And, does Home Sharing work for apps?
    Thanks.

If you want a truly global accessible iTunes music folder to share on a Win 7 multi user account setup then I have found this to be the best way. You may find other methods online, including Apples own method of moving just the media folder but to me its not the best way. The way I configured mine allows all users to access the same iTunes library completely. No need for moving just part of the files, consolidating or duplicating files.
    1.Browser to C:/ users /your_username/
2.Right click on My Music folder and choose properties
3.Select the location tab and choose MOVE
4.Set the new location by browsing to C:/ users / public / public music
5.When asked if you would like to move files choose Yes
6.When asked if you would like to make this the default location choose Yes
    7. Log in to each user account and do the same thing as above
Now when you install or start iTunes on any of the accounts modified as above, iTunes will automatically use the Shared Folder for music, apps, etc.. No need to have duplicate files.

  • File sharing on one laptop with 2 accounts

First off I wanna say that I am new and I haven't been in this forum before (so please don't flame me if this thread is in the wrong place).....
My wife and I are still getting used to our new macbook pro. We have set up seperate accounts for each other so she can keep her work info seperate from my school info.
However, I would like to be able to share files like photos and office documents and spreadsheets between us. I know there is a way we can do this, but I haven't figured it out on the apple platform just yet.
With this being said does anyone have a few nuggets of knowledge on this issue? Any bit would be appreciated

    Go to:

  • Z10 faulty code BUG - emails may not be sent/released if you have a hosted domain with email accounts

let me preface this by saying I have been a loyal blackberry user, screaming from my soapbox about blackberry for many many years and that I am not a techie and really wish blackberry all the best.
however, today my blackberry faith has been completely crushed and i don't want anyone to go through this pain.
I just confirmed  that the z10 in it's current OS and the way in which email is formatted does not meet certain code requirements CRLF RFC ??  As such any emails routed through to a hosting provider will likely be blocked from leaving their servers. It has to do with headers, date stamps and formatting of the emails as read by spam blockers as they apprear from the blackberry OS
what happened to me is that emails showed as sent, and then i was wondering why i never head back from clients. Bingo. they never got it.
After extensive phone calls, testing accounts with BB, hosting domain and Rogers, it became clear this was a z10 issue.
So any small business owners that use large hosting providers that have strict spam and code requirements BEWARE. In all liklihood you will experience great difficulties in emailing anyone (read they won't get them).
    Gmail and hotmail work fine.
Before you mention them...STMP and SSL and ports do not make a difference in my case. This has been confirmed. Trust me.
Is it a nice device? Yes.  Does it have potential? yes.  Does it meet my  most basic email needs? NO
to top it all off, i just extended my contract to get this phone. If I'm lucky, from the sounds of it, it might work after two future OS updates.
I am flabbergasted by this huge oversight and really do wish blackberry well, but if this doesn't get fixed when they get U.S. customers...I think they are going to be TORN apart.
    Blackberry are you listening?
Feel free to send me some sort of love or compensation for my previous years of devout loyalty, my being trapped in a contract in your name and for bringing this issue to your attention.

heart broken with a shiny new useless z10 which apparently can't return now.

Hi there, so when I was speaking with bb I was told that this fix would not make it into the update.  I have no reason to believe that this issue is resolved as the update rolled out shortly after my lengthy discussion so by then I assume the update was already with the carriers for review.
Perhaps you can raise this issue with them again and give them a test account to see what they can do. I know how much this sucks and this needs to be escalated continuously to make it into the next updates.
Also see if your hosting provider can help by whitelisting your domain and turn off spam blockers.
    Wish you well

  • HT1420 How can I get past 5 authorized computers when we have more computers, ipads, iphones than allowed. I want to have parental control by sharing 1 apple ID with one account?

We have multiple computers, laptops, iphones and ipad in our home. We have kept one account for iTunes in order to monitor what my family downloads for parental monitoring. How can I get approval or allow for more devices to be 'authorized' to purchase from iTunes? I don't want to have to have more than one account that I have to monitor - technology is overwhelming enough to control with all the hackers and distasteful things on the web.

    Authorization applies ONLY to computers.
ipads/ipods/iphones/apple tvs are NOT authorized at all.
