Permissions to run addons on a citrix server

Hi everyone,
I have a customer who is using a Citrix server for their users of B1 but are having problems to run the addons
(in this case XL Reporter and another Swedish local addon) if the user is not a local administrator on
the Citrix server.
The customer does not want all users to be local administrators - so the question is:
What permissions do you need to have to be able to run addons in a Citrix environment?

Login to the citrix server console as the Administrator.
Login into SAP B1 (make sure you have all the proper authorizations or Super User)
Install the Addons
That should do it.
We run 3 addons on two Citrix servers and I always install them while logged in as the Admin of the servers.

Unable to edit or run XL Reports on Citrix Server

Our client has a number of XL Reports which they wish users to be able to access from a Citrix Server.
The XL Reports are working for users when run locally but not via the Citrix Server.
The error we are receiving is:
'An error occurred during the process "Report Initialize", Description: (666) Error! Unable to get document! Type: 22
Cause: Automation Error
XL Reporter startup failed!'
We have investigated and applied the fix from Note: 918188 which appears to be a direct hit on this issue but the reports are still failing.
Has anyone else come accross this and resolved it?

Crystal Integrator add on version 1_10 Hardware Error on Citrix Server

Hi All,
I have encountered an error when I tried to access crystal reports in SBO 2005A version using a Citrix Server.
I have installed crystal integrator add on version 1_10 and when I opened crystal reports inside SAP in the main server, I have not encountered any problem. The error occurs when I opened the same reports in SAP using Citrix Server.
My error encountered is:

Crystal Reports ActiveX Designer
There was a hardware error
What seems to be missing?

Hi,
Did you used the command prompt before installing the addons on the citrix server.
You have told that in sap b1 server its working fine,then you should use-change user \install in the command prompt.

Acrobat Pro 11 for Citrix Server

I'd like to order Acrobat Pro v. 11 licenses, the software needs to be installed on a Citirx Server that is 64 Bit versions of Windows 2008 (SP2 Servers) / Citrix/XenApp Version 5.0.
Please advise what version to purchase for the Citrix Server.

It needs to be a VOLUME license and you need to contact Adobe Sales about that type of licensing.

Sunray conneting to Citrix Server

We are currently looking at implementing Sunrays across our entire hospital, I'm not very familar with how they work but I have a general idea. The vendor we are working with is suggesting that we use plain Windows Terminal servers instead of Citrix, as they say the logins will be slower with Citrix. Is this true? If so why is it slower. The sunray clients would be used just to connect to a terminal or citrix server of which all the apps would run off of, we need to be able to easiely and quickly move from device to device, so if Citrix logins are really going to be slower than straight terminal server logins that might be a problem, but I would like some information to back this up. Also does the Sunray solution have a password managment/single sign on capability? So once I login to the system, I no longer have to log into all my individual applications?

Citrix corp. provides ICA clients for Solaris X86 & SPARC both as a native program and you can also use the Citrix JAVA ICA client,
if you wnat to start the ICA connection with a Java Webstart launcher from a Portal Server.
The JAVA ICA client is architecture independent and it makes it possible to launch all ICA session from the Portal server rather than
updating many PC's and server with architecture dependant binaries.
These binaries are available from Citrix download site Not from Sun.
As a Citrix server also serves RDP connections its possible to talk to the Citrix Farm with RDP using the Sun ray Windows Connector ( uttsc )
The Citrix ICA Client has an option to cache the User credentials in the users home directory .
The Sun ray Windows Connector ( uttsc ) also has a small addon program that can cache the users credentials.
this is not the same as Single_sign_on , but a way to fake it - if you can trust the security of the homedirectory.
Single sign on between UNIX/LINUX on one side and MS Windows Active directory is an evolving field at this point in time.
It is possible to set up Kerberos across domain authenitication between AD and a unix Kerberos installation, but its not simple,
and you wont find commersial support for the solution. Its a very consultant friendly/dependent solution at this point in time.

How do you publish Exchange 2010 Management Console on a Citrix Server?

I need to be able to remotely manage exchange throught the management console and want to publish it through Citrix. I successfully installed the console on the XenApp servers in our farm, but after publishing it, can not get the published console
to run through the Citrix Plug in or oweb interface. Any idea what I could be doing wrong? Since I can run it directory from the server, the problem must exist in the way I published it. I have checked permissions and those appear to be ok.

How do you publish your EMC? Since you can't run, do you get some error information. But it seems it isn't a exchange problem. If you have installed your EMC on your another computer in you ORG. You can run it by click start. If you want to use Citrix, ask

Permissions are not displaying correctly on Yosemite server

My file and folder permissions are not displaying correctly on my Yosemite server when viewed from a Yosemite client.
I have set these permissions from the server app on the server and have added local network groups for the appropriate folders on the share. When checked from the server's finder, everything looks correct. The server is setup for both AFP and SMB on file sharing. I have also tried setting permissions from the server's finder and seemed to make no difference.
When logged into from local or VPN Yosemite clients using AFP, the permissions do not show anything but postgres user and everyone group. Even though they should have network groups such as skoogfinancial, skoogmarketing, etc.
The server does seem to enforce the permissions correctly though a user cannot get into folders he does not have permissions for.
Therefore, it seems the server is enforcing correctly, but a user may not understand what is going on as the permissions list doesn't list anything meaningful.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Oracle Client in Citrix Server

It is fail to install Oracle8i Client Release 3 (8.1.7) in our Citrix Metaframe server via Add/Remove programs. After I select the location of Client 8i installation path and press Next button, nothing was appeared. The oracle client installation never start.
But I can install the oracle client in any desktop machine using this CDROM and I can use Add/Remove program in Citrix server to install Visual Basic program and other program.
I don't know why nothing happen when I execute the Oracle client installation.
Please help and advise.

If your running from the CD, then you need to copy all the files to your network somewhere.
Once on the network/hard disk, search the contents of the CD for a file named symcjit.dll and rename to symcjit.old. There will be more than 1 of these files, and you must rename all of them.
Then run setup again.

Issues with Adobe reader x not working as regular users on a citrix server

Have 1 citrix server. Adobe reader x installed. Some users are able to open adobe reader, When I add the users who can not open adobe reader to administrators group. they still can not open adobe. While in their session if i do a run as . I run it as the domain admin, then adobe reader opens up.
This makes no sense, any help would be appreciated.

You should ask in the Reader forum. Normally, the product would be installed on the local machine. If you were talking about Acrobat, then the server use is a violation of the EULA, but it is probably just a networking issue with Reader.

My acrobat plugin application crashes in Citrix server

Hi,
The old version of my plugin application was able to run on acrobat installed in citrix server.In the old version, resource file was present in the plugin project folder itself.
In the new version of my plugin application,I maintained separate project folder containing resource files and created the dll for that,which gets loaded in my plugin project.This is the only difference between my old and new version.
In Citrix server, I am able to install the application in the acrobat,after installation if I click on acrobat.I get run time error saying-
Run time error!!
Program: <acrobat installation path>
abnormal program termination!!
I developed the plugin using acrobat sdk7.
What has might the problem or went wrong so that application crashes on server?
please help,as i have no idea on citrix servers.newto this environment.

Performing E2ETrace Analysis unuseable in Citrix-Server-Environment?

Hallo,
Since SAP CLient Plug-In 1.11 for E2E Trace Analysis, we get the error "ERROR: Found running application instance(s): please close the open application instance" if IE8 sessions are startet before launching the plugin.
so, executing the E2E -Trace analysis on CITRIX-Server with the Plugin seems to be unusable, because a lot of user might logged into CITRIX Server and performing IE8-Sessions?
are there any suggestions?

You have to stop existing IE-Sessions. also in Citrix-environment.
so you can not use it in Citrix Environment where a lot of user are performing IE-Sessions.

VFP application in Citrix server

Hi,
I have a vfp application and it is using Microsoft Outlook to send emails. If we access the application via Citrix server, which Outlook application is it using? i.e. Outlook installed in the Citrix server or Outlook installed in the clients computer?
As I know it should use Outlook installed in Citrix server. Please confirm this. Thanks.

The best bet is to make a small test exe with just that CREATEOBJECT() call and see what is instanciated. Setup a client without outlook and run it on citrix server with outlook and you'll see.

Citrix Server works just like any other virtual or real machine you connect to via remote desktop.
The apps running there will OLE automate the ole servers there, so eg Outlook has to be installed in that virtual windows alongside your vfp app and vfp will use that server side outlook.
Your program does not automate the client, it's only visualized on it via a citrix client side software used to connect to citrix server and display it.
There is a slight chance such virtualisation software enhances and incorporates more from the client, eg one technology having spread among virtualisation solutions is seamless integration of the remote application windows, so it seems like the remote apps
run local. The display is accelerated in not sending the graphics to clients but GDI+ or DirectX 2D commands, which can be executed by client graphics hardware.
And it is just a small step to forward any ole server instanciateions like CREATEOBJECT("Outlook.Application") to be executed at the client.
So finally as first said, make a small test EXE and you know for sure what happens.

Using Crystal Reports on a Citrix server

I have a 2003 .net windows application that internal crystal reports built in using Crystal 11 SP2. On a basic client the merge modules and the reports run fine without incident.
This does not work on a Citrix server. I get a report load error.
Does the CR 11 Runtime need to be installed on the Citrix server?
Is there some special procedures or applications I need to install?
I don't believe I should have to install a server license for this to work or be licensed.
Anyone have experience with CR11 in a windows application running on a Citrix server?

There is no supported method of using Crystal Reports without deploying the appropriate runtime files. Since Crystal Reports is not fully managed by the .NET framework this additional step is required.

JetForms processing slow on new Citrix server

JetForms processing on a new Citrix server running Windows 2008 R2 takes twice as long as on the legacy Windows 2003 server.
Example invoice processing/printing: Legacy = 8-10 seconds New = 16-20 seconds.
Printing same invoice directly from Adobe Reader takes 5.5 seconds on both servers, so it doesn't appear to be a network issue.
Any ideas why the latency? We are currently testing with NO antivirus software installed/enabled on the new server.

Hi Paul -- thanks again for taking time to work with me on this.   I did the DOS test and even copying a 6meg file was practically instantaneous on the new server.
I had previously reported on the 2 lines in the log file that are adding the delay.   The thing is, there are actually 8 total lines in the log file accessing the same network location.   Only 2 of the eight lines are delayed comparing new vs old server.   Here are all of the lines in order as they appear in the log file. (There are 129 actual entries in the log, but these are the only 8 that access the C: drive location):

NormalEmail.dotm pop up 'save as' problem, citrix server

Hello,
Problem:
When sending a Word document as a PDF (File -> Save and
Send -> Send as PDF) via Outlook. A continuous prompt
of 'Save As' shows up trying to save the NormalEmail.dtm file to the users profile. The email sends but this pop-up occurs every time.
Our Environment:
Citrix user profile management.
Outlook 2010
Word 2010
Temp Fix:
Deleting normal.dotm and normalemail.dotm under C:\profiles$\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates
Copying our default NormalEmail.dotm file to that location.
This is a solution until the user logs off and back onto the citrix server refreshing their Email Profile (Unpacking/Unloading)
Searching through the forums, people mentioned outlook addins, but running the Outlook client in Safemode offered no solution

Please open your Registry Editor and check on the AppData registry value to see if it is set to a value date other than %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming. If so, try changing it back to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming and then test the issue again.
If above doesn't work, we can also try adding the following registry key to see if it helps:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\Microsoft.OutlookBackup.1
DWORD: RequireShutdownNotification
Value: 1
