Persistant Bindings w/M81KR in Windows 2008 R2

Have a customer that is using a B250 with the M81KR for a backup server.  The server can see all the disks and tapes however, does not have a persistent binding.  Already enabled persistent bindings within the service profile.  The devices are still losing there bindings and corrupting the backups.  Is there a utility like Onecommand or SANsurfer for the M81KR for this server?  Already tried both and neither sees the HBA's.

Hi All,
     Operating System: Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise SP1
H/w:  VMware virtual machine vmx 09
Installed: File server role with "Services for network file system"
Server for NFS and Client for NFS services and up and running.
But when I try to create an NFS share using the folder properties the NFS Sharing tab is missing.
I tried to provision an NFS share using server manager "New NFS share folder cannot be created"
Noticed Event ID 1015 from NFSserver " Server for NFS was unable to validate licensing information at this time, the server will be nonfunctional until this information can be validated"
Tried to create the NFS share using command line but that too failed.
Request all to kindly assist me in isolating and fixing this issue.
Thank you so much
Shaji P.K.
Server for NFS was unable to validate licensing information at this time, the server will be nonfunctional until this information can be validated
NFS server is so weak (especially for 2008 R2) and keeping in mind you run that all hosted by VMware ESXi the best thing you can do is to get rid of using Windows as a NFS server completely and spawn a FreeBSD or Linux VM with a decent and recent version
of Samba.
StarWind VSAN [Virtual SAN] clusters Hyper-V without SAS, Fibre Channel, SMB 3.0 or iSCSI, uses Ethernet to mirror internally mounted SATA disks between hosts.

  • Oracle 11gR2 on Windows 2008 R2 - access denied error

I just installed 11gR2 on a Windows 2008 R2. When I tried to unsecure the dbconsole I noticed that an "Access is denied" error is returned, so I am not able to use the stop/start/unsecure command from emctl.
I am able to log in into the db and asm, but if I try to perform an imp/exp operation an create a log file from the operation I get an error EXP-00028: failed to open <log file name> for write.
I have already turned off the firewall, but the problem persists.
I know that Windows 2008 R2 has a lot of security enhancements that could cause issues, but I don't know what else I can turn off to deal with this situation.
BTW, I am logged with an account part of the Local Admins. and it belongs to the group ora_dba.
    Thanks,

This may be a little late but did you run the command line using the Run As Administrator option? Windows 2008 will return that error when trying to do certain privileged operations under regular user rights.

  • Upgrade of Integation Services (Windows 2012 R2) on Windows 2008 R2 with Exchange 2013 SP1 DAG fails

    Here is the scenario:
    Legacy Host: Windows 2008 R2
Guest VM: Windows 2008 R2 with Exchange 2013 SP1 DAG cluster.
After importing the VM (2008 R2 and Exchange 2013 DAG) into a 2012 R2 host (Cluster).  (copy VM files to new 2012 R2host) Everything works fine.
Then upgrading "Installation Services" (for Windows 2012 R2 host) on the imported VM runs fine with no errors to the "Restart" prompt. VM than shows: "Configuring Windows updates 32% complete. Do not turn
of your computer." Hangs there for about 20 minutes until is says "shutting down". Hangs there for 20 minutes until power off. Restart to normal start; "Preparing to configure Windows. Do not turnoff your computer." proceeds slowly
to "Configuring Windows updates 32% complete. Do not turn of your computer." hangs there again indefinite. Sometime hangs at shutdown cycle and "Configuring Windows updates 32% complete. Do not turn of your computer." indefinitely.
I moved 20 other machines from a 2008 R2 host to new Windows 2012 R2 hosts all of these machines install the 2012 R2 Integration services just fine on the 2008 R2 VM. Just the 2008 R2 VMs clustered (DAG) and Exchange 2013 SP1 do not take the Integration
    Services upgrade.
Any advise from Microsoft? I know I could decommission the DAG and Exchange machines and install Integration services on the native box before Exchange and DAG and that would sure work, but I'd rather avoid that amount of work for a simple integration layer
    upgrade.

  • Slow printing on windows 2008 std, R2 and windows 2012

    Hi All,
I have a print server which is configured on windows 2008 R2. We are experiencing slow printing when printing directly from the server or from a client through the server. Small sized files prints fast, anything which has image takes a long time. All the
printers in our organization are Xerox Colorqube 9303. When installed the driver directly on to windows 7 32 bit PC, it prints without any delay. Also, when prints from the server a 2 MB file becomes 15 MB or more while sending. We have tried PCL6 and PS drivers.
To replicate it, i have installed a windows 2012 server ended up with the same result. Installed windows 2008 standard 32 bit with SP2 and the result remains same. Also tried it on windows 8, 64 bit without any luck. So effectively, it works fine only when
directly installed on a windows 7 PC. I have disabled all three: disabling TCP Chimney Offload, RSS, Receive Window Auto-Tuning .
After shooting the print, if you observe the printer properties, it sends data at a very low rate which results a 10 MB documents prints take around 10 minutes. At the same time, file copying from the server to and fro is working normally. All these servers
are directly connected to the cisco 6509 core switch. All the above tests were performed on the same physical switch. The server and clients are on the same network (subnet).
Have anybody come across to a similar issue. Any useful suggestions would deeply appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Prince Mathew

    Hi Prince Mathew,
Based on your description, this issue seems that it’s related to this specific model printer (Xerox
colorqube 9303). Please install the latest version of the driver and the firmware from Xerox website, and then check if this issue still exists.
If it still persists, please clear Printer Spooler Files and enable the Spooler Service again.
    For details, please refer to.
    1. Click Start, run "Services.msc" (without the quotation marks).
    2. In Services list, please double click "Printer Spooler". Then click
    Stop, and then click OK.
    3. Please locate to: "%WINDIR%\system32\spool\printers", delete all files in this folder.
    4. Click Start, run "Services.msc" (without the quotation marks). In Services list, double click
"Printer Spooler". Click on Start. In the Startup Type list, make sure that "Automatic" is selected and click OK.
Then check if this issue can be solved.
    Hope this helps.

  • Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Windows update not applicable

HELP!!! We have 3 Windows 2008 R2 servers that were updated with SP1 back in March. Last month we noticed on our Retina audit that the three servers were missing several Windows critical patches that were released after SP1 was applied. WSUS did not report
any missing patches for those three servers. When we tried to manually apply those missing patches we get the error message "This update is not applicable to your computer". After some troubleshooting we found that KB976932 (Service Pact 1) is not listed in
installed updates. However, system property shows Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Enterprise Edition. We are certain that SP1 did NOT come pre-installed. Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer detected no missing patches. Microsoft System Readiness Tool CBA logs show no
errors. Ran SFC /SCANNOW and found no error also. Force install of the patches with command switch /wuforce, did not work we still get the same message patch not applicable. We compared our servers that are fully patched running Windows 2008 R2 SP1 against
the three unpatched servers and found several dll and sys file's version to be different. Those dll and sys files are also the files that would have been updated by the critical patches. The only thing different between the fully patched Windows 2008 R2 SP1
servers and the unpatch are the unpatch have no public internet access. We confirmed patches that were required prior to SP1 push are installed: KB2454826 KB2534366 KB2533552 KB976902 Confirmed: Partition with Windows 2008 R2 SP1 installed is set to "ACTIVE"
Windows Event Collector service is started Windows Modules Installer is started Uninstalling SP1 is not possible because the KB976932 is not listed and verified "not hidden" in installed updates list. Rebuilding the three servers are the very last option,
since they are critical. Other than the missing patches.... the servers are running great, we have no reported issues with the three servers. Attempt to reinstall SP1 failed after reboot, error 0X800F0826. If anyone has experience this problem and know of
    a solution please help.

    Hi,
I would like to confirm that what updates are not applicable for your three Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 servers?
Based on the current situation, please run the System Update Readiness Tool as Meinolf Weber mentioned and check the CheckSUR.persist.log for the corrupted
files. After that, please refer to the following Microsoft TechNet article for how to repair them.

  • Windows 2008 R2 does not work on Sunfire X4170

Hi, I recently bought a used X4170 server and have a weird problem. Windows 2008 R2 does not work, but 2012 does. I tried RTM version and a version with SP1. The problem is this:
After installing, I set the password and windows just displays a blank desktop, sometimes it boots but freezes soon after - the mouse cursor moved but nothing else works.
Booting in Safe Mode works and Windows do not freeze. The Event Log contains lots and lots (about 20 per second) of these entries:

    Hello
    Thank you for the update.
Please refer the below Knowledge document related to this issue:

  • Weblogic Start-up from CIFS share(WINDOWS 2008) is too slow.

    Hi All,
We are migrating to a new platform in weblogic 10.3.5. It is running on a WINDOWS 2008 Server and we are planning to use the "Whole Server" migration.
As per our new architecture, we have planned to use NAS over CIFS as a storage medium.
We have placed all the binaries, jars ,JDK files and weblogic core server files,WL_HOME in the "Local Disk" and admin,Managed servers, Filestore and all files related to domain in the CIFS share.
Now, when we start-up the servers without any deployment, it takes almost 5 mins for the server to come-up in "running" mode.
We are bit in a jeopardy now as to whether the architecture and the set-up is appropriate for weblogic over CIFS (or) not?
Any advice (or) suggestions on this setup would be helpful.
(PS: We have found out why the server is taking too long to start-up. When we observe the TCP-IP dump during the server start-up, there were thousands of requests(includes JVM DLL files, exe, weblogic class files, core server class files) sent to the File-server using SMB protocol. Unfortunatley, all those files are present in the "Local DIsk". Hence, we could see that the firts request is sent to the File server, got failed and then the file is being read from the local-disk.)
    Thanks,
    SV.

Put only files which needs to be 'shared' ( e.g persistent store files for jms, jta transaction store etc) on the network drive .. put all other files including logs on the local disk.. see if that makes a difference..
NAS is slower than other storage setups like SAN and DAS...

  • Windows 2008 R2 SP1 BSOD Bug Check 0x0000003b

    Hi,
I have a Win 2k8 R2 SP1 VM that keeps crashing every night for the past 2 days. Every time is the same bug check code 0x0000003b. I looked around and found 2 KBs for this specific code:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/980932/en-gb - does not apply to my system
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2836373/en-gb - installed the hotfix yesterday but got another crash today
The server has 30 printers installed on it and during the night only one is used so I tend to think that it is causing the crash. The printer has the latest driver installed (Konica Minolta Universal Printing Driver v2.4).
I looked through the dump files generated by every BSOD but I cannot find anything that would point me in the right direction... or I might have missed it.
Here is a bit more info on the server:
    Windows 2008 R2 Standard SP1
    System is a VM
    IIS role installed
30 printers installed - all drivers are up to date
I have stored the dump files here: http://1drv.ms/1kpL9vh
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi gogu2008,
First , please keep the VM and Host up-to-date then check if the issue persists .
What is the Host OS ?
How much RAM does the VM have ?
If the VM is using dynamic memory , for troubleshooting you may try to configure  fixed RAM for the VM.
As for the DUMP , you can change the "mini dump  " to  "kernel memory dump " then analysis the file after BSOD .
    Hope it helps

  • Windows 2008 R2 RRAS VPN Issue

    Hello,
I have a Windows 2008 R2 server configured with RRAS.  I have several persistent connections set up to do remote data backups.  After a while, the connections get disconnected and if I try to reconnect, I get an error message
    that states:
An error occurred during connection of the interface.  A connection to the remote computer could not be established.  You might need to change the network settings for this connection.
If I restart the RRAS service, then I can reconnect them all.  And they work fine until they get disconnected again.  The server is a standalone server, not part of a domain or anything.
I previously had these connections set up on a 2003 server, and they worked pretty flawlessly.  It's only since I changed to this new server that these issues started.  Anyone know what the issue could be?
    Thanks.

    Is that Event ID 20167?
Is there a DHCP Relay Agent configured?
I assume the DHCP server has enough free IPs to hand out to RRAS when needed. RRAS grabs a block of 10 IPs from DHCP at a time to use for connections.
    How long is the lease?

  • Windows 2008 R2 Screen Lock Issue (GPO)

Scenario: We will be deploying POS machines at our stores that will have Windows 2008 R2 as the preferred OS. The function of this POS machine is for POS administration and not for ringing up sales. The machines have been configured to autologin a specific
user via GPO for POS functions. Also, a specific POS desktop environment shell has been configured to launch instead of Explorer (explorer.exe) shell environment at autologon.
Everything seems to be working as expected except for the session of the user locking. Since the POS environment needs to be up at all times with the specific user profile, we do not want the OS to lock the user session. I've timed it and it seems to lock
the screen (not log off) at approximately 15 minutes of inactivity, we do not want this.
So far, these are the GPOs I have configured that have not fixed the issue:
Computer Configuration>Policies>Windows Settings>Security Settings>Local Policies>Security Options>Microsoft Network Server: Amount of idle time required before suspending session = 99999 minutes
Computer Configuration>Policies>Administrative Templates>System>Power Management>Sleep Settings>Allow applications to prevent automatic sleep (plugged in) = Enabled
    Computer Configuration>Policies>Administrative Templates>System>Power Management>Sleep Settings>Require a password when a computer wakes (plugged in) = Disabled
    Computer Configuration>Policies>Administrative Templates>System>Power Management>Sleep Settings>Turn off hybrid sleep (plugged in) = Enabled
Computer Configuration>Policies>Administrative Templates>System>Power Management>Sleep Settings>Turn on the ability for applications to prevent sleep transitions (plugged in) = Enabled
    Computer Configuration>Policies>Administrative Templates>System>Power Management>Video and Display Settings>Turn off the display (plugged in) = Enabled = 99999 seconds
    User Configuration>Policies>Administrative Templates>Control Panel>Personalization>Enable screen saver = Disabled
User Configuration>Policies>Administrative Templates>Control Panel>Personalization>Password protect the screen saver = Disabled
    User Configuration>Policies>Administrative Templates>System>Ctrl+Alt+Del Options>Remove Lock Computer = Enabled
    User Configuration>Preferences>Windows Settings>Registry>HKCU>Control Panel>Desktop>ScreenSaveActive = 0
What are we doing wrong? How do I configure the OS to not lock the user session but keep it active at all times?
As a side note: We have Windows 7 POS machines also that will be ringing up sales that we do not have the screen lock issue.

    Hi,
    >>Please see my setting indicated in my original post. We have Turn Off the Display set to 99999 seconds.
I understand that we have set the Turn Off the Display for this amount of time. However, just for double check, we can go to the power plan we are using to check if the setting has been applied successfully. If the setting has been applied successfully,
it should be grayed out. Or, we can run command gpresult/h gpreport.html
with admin privileges to collect group policy result report to check this.
Besides, do we use other third party software to protect our computer? We can try to clean boot the server to see if the situation persists.
Regarding how to perform a clean boot, the following article can be referred to for more information.

Sorry for confusing, I have udpated the script for this testing
    =====================================================
Script for Schedule Task 1 - to map a network drive and issue a ping command to "sleep"
Echo %date% %time% list drive on schedule task 1
    NET USE
Echo %date% %time% map drive on schedule task 1
    NET USE Z: \\127.0.0.1\Share /PERSISTENT:NO
    ping 127.0.0.1 -n 100 > NUL
Echo %date% %time% remove drive on schedule task 1
    NET USE Z: /DELETE
Script for Schedule Task 2 - to list out any network drive are mapped.
Echo %date% %time% list drive on schedule task 2
    NET USE
    ========================================================================
The schedule task 2 are triggered while the schedule task 1 are running, In the windows 2003, the schedule task 2 could not list out any mapped drive. In the windows 2008, however, the schedule task 2
can list the network drive mapped by schedule task 1. The question is if there are any changes between windows 2003 and 2008, hope it can clarify.

  • Two Asa Two Isp and Windows 2008 R2 Server

    Hello Everybody ,
If you can support my issue , I do appreciate a lot.
First of all thanks a lot for your interest ..
    Here is my  issue :
I have two Isp Connection ( 1 metro Eth Connection  and 1 Ghdsl Connection )
    1) Asa 5505 (Version 8.0(5)) is for the 1.st Isp Connection
Windows 2008 R2 server is up and running as Web Server on this ASA 5505 config.
    As:
    (static (inside,outside) mywebsrv.mycompany.com 192.168.5.5 netmask 255.255.255.255
    And Ipconfig of W2008Srv is 192.168.5.5 255.255.255.0 192.168.5.1 (Gateway ASA 5505)
    2) Asa 5510 (Version 8.0(5)) is for the 2.nd Isp Connection
Windows 2003 R2 server is up and running as Ftp Server on this ASA 5510 config.
    As:
    (static (inside,outside) myftpsrv.mycompany.com 192.168.50.10 netmask 255.255.255.255
    And Ipconfig of W2003Srv is 192.168.50.10  255.255.255.0 192.168.50.1 (Gateway ASA 5510)
    Here is my question :
I need to move my Ftp server (due to old hardware + old server issues )
into the Windows 2008 R2 Server ( HP DL Server with 4 Nic).
If I conect my Asa 5510 to the second nic of Windows 2008 R2 Server.
and give an ip address as 192.168.50.10 255.255.255.0
what should be the gateway Ip address : ?
Before I go ahead and implement :
    a) What do I need to do  on  the Windows 2008 R2 Server
as persistent route adds with different metrics
    b) Any config adds or changes on Asa 5505 and ASA 5510 regarding static routes with
different metric and so on ...
Many thanks in advance for your support .

If you do that, the second interface will work as a failsafe for the first NIC.
As far as i know, you won't be able to route traffic based on the type of traffic nor do load-balancing between the interfaces.
I guess the best approach will be to get a newer server and use it as a replacement for the one running 2003 R2.

  • Mac os x 10.7 joining to windows 2008 domain

I recently started a project to understand MAC functionality in a tradtional WIndows domain. I seeking instruction to add my MacBook Pro to our Windows 2008 domain. Thanks in advance!
    -r1cw3b

I have verified every required settings closely and had it cross checked over and over again with the network administrator himself, every settings was in place but when i tried to bind with the domain it returns server not found.
I also ping the server and it works....i verified the RJ45 cable...all is fine.
i tried updating from 10.7.3 to 10.7.4 but the problem persists.
Infact originally i had to bind the Mac OS X 10.7.3 and 10.7.4  to a Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2, it didn't worked then afterwards i tried to bind them to a Windows Server 2008 R2....it worked on 2 but on the third it didn't.
So does anybody have an idea or can anyone confirm me if Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2 is compatible with Mac OS X 10.7.4???

  • Getting a Sharing Violation using CS3 when saving/refreshing our Windows 2008 box

To be clear, this is NOT an IE issue as I don't use IE at all in development. This is a ColdFusion 10 environment. I'm fairly sure this a Windows/IIS configuration issue.
    Basic Info:
This error happens while on XP or Windows 7
This error does not happen when interacting with any other environment.
    Scope of issue:
I work on both a Windows 7 and XP environment (2 laptops). I run both CS3 and CS5.5 on both machines. I have no problem whatsoever working with any linux or windows servers running a mix of ColdFusion 7 and 8. Recently our IT group brought up a Windows 2008 server running ColdFusion 10. This is the ONLY server I have this issue with and switch servers often depending on project. It MUST be either the ColdFusion 10 configuration or something with Windows/IIS. Our IT group is unable to resolve this issue on their own.
    Here is what happens.
I save the file, then, if I view it with ANY browser (firefox, chrome, IE... etc) the file will generate a sharing violation if you attempt to save it again within 15-20 seconds. Past that point, it will save fine. No other server displays this behavior.
So what has been done so far?
    ColdFusion:
    - On settings, class files are NOT being saved and all saved templates are set to 0. Bascially any caching of any type is disabled. (Error still persists)
I don't know what to do in windows or IIS at this time. I've never encountered this issue before so look toward the community for solutions. Thank you.

    Moved to the ColdFusion forum.
