Personal daq 55

Bonjour,

Cordialement

  • I got "IOtech Personal Daq/55 Acquisition System" Can't find the drv in Labview.

Dear to whom it may concerns:
I want to inform you that my "IOtech personal Daq/55 Acquisition System" cannot find the driver in Labview 8.0. Can you please leading me to find out the problem....Thank you for your kind attention
    Johnny

    Hi Johnny,
You wil have to download the drivers from IOTech directly.  I would suspect that they would provide a CD, with the product, that contains the LV drivers or at least an API.
Here is a link to their website.  It appears that you have to register to access the download area.

I will look at the drivers available of this website to see if something was submitted.

  • Omega Personal DAQ 3000 driver installation w/LabVIEW 8.6

I cannot find the appropriate driver for the Omega Personal DAQ 3000 data acquisition system (model OMB-DAQ-3000) in labVIEW 8.6 .  I have installed the LabVIEW driver off of the Omega cd, and updated the labview driver at ftp://ftp.omega.com/public/DASGroup/products/OMB-DAQ-3000/.  However, I when I went to bring this driver into LabVIEW, I went tools->instrumentation->find instrument drivers->     From there I found the only NI certified driver to be omhctb3k, and I installed the driver version of this for LabView 8.0.   When I then went to put this driver and associated instruments into my vi, it shows up only as a thermoregulator, and is only allowing me to use it for temperature applications.
I need to use this data acquisition system for pressure and displacement measurements, and am running on Windows 7.  Any insight on how I can find the appropriate driver and get it to work with LabVIEW would be much appreciated.
Also, if I have not posted this in the most appropriate forum, please suggest one that will be of more help.
    Thanks!

    Hey MCS11,
I think I either talked to you earlier this week, or someone else called me about the same exact thing.
Either way, I assume you downloaded the LabVIEW driver support from that link you listed. Your next step is to add this driver to your Function Palette in LabVIEW.  In the instructions that you can find here: C:\Program Files\DaqIO LabView Support\Enhanced LabVIEW Getting Started.pdf it walks you through how to add these drivers to your function palette. I've copied the steps for you below.
    1) Open a new blank LabVIEW.vi
    2) From the Tools menu item select Advanced >> Edit palette views
    3) In the “Edit Controls and Functions Palettes” dialog box select “New Setup…” from the Palette view list box.
    4) Enter a name for the New Palete View
    5) Right mouse click in an open spaceIn the function palette and select insert >> submenu.
    6) From the “Insert Submenu” dialog select “Link to a directory”
    7) Browse to the “C:\Program Files\DaqIO LabVIEW Support” directory and go into that directory.
    8) Press the “Select Curr Dir” button. The DaqIO submenu should appear in the function palette. 9) In the “Edit Controls and Functions Palettes” dialog box Press “Save Changes”
The driver you found through "Find Instrument Driver" is a completely different driver which is why you are only seeing thermocouple VIs.
    Hope that helps!
    Kind Regards,

  • RS232 & Personal DAQ Start Time mismatch

I am attempting to collect data from two seperate serial ports and a personal DAQ (analog input) at the same time.  everything seems to be working fine until i try to display information on a list.  I get an error stating that the start times are mismatched.  I am unsure how to match the start times for these three modules.  the serial ports appear to start at the same time but the DAQ lags behind by about a half a second or so.  currently running with Dasylab 11
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The PersonalDAQ 5x driver doesn't play well with others.
Set the Adapt for Full Linear Interpolation, and configure the Serial for "one line of data" (or whatever the second choice is called in your version).
The first input of the Adapt is the FASTER channel, which should be the PersonalDAQ, unless you have it collecting at a really slow sample rate.

  • Why do I get error 2147221164?

The app was working, then they moved the lab and the app doesn't work anymore.  My job: fix it.
The local IT Pro has touched the computer, but theoretically didn't do anything that would effect this. I didn't write the code (the author retired) but the basic problem appears to be that it isn't seening the IOTech Personal Daq 3000s.  DaqView, the IOTech app works fine, but nothing in LabView can see them, including numerous example vi's from the daq vendor.  I've tried two things found on the forum
delete and replace the Automation Open.vi
unregister then reregister the *.ocx files
but neither of these fixed the problem.  The block diagram where the error occurs:
This is in one of the vi's provided by IOTech (Acquisition Initialize.vi).  Probes on the wire from the Refnum constant gave a value of zero.  My understanding is that it's only there to provide a type so this may be correct (?).  The constant has DAQCOMLib.IDaqSystem selected in the ActiveX class, which appears to be correct.  The Refnum out from Automation Open was also zero, which I assume is wrong.
No error in, but the error out wire shows the 2147221164 code and "Class not registered...".
Again, in theory, nobody has touched this code directly.  I'm pretty much out of ideas.  Suggestions?
    thx!

I can't really get a screen shot, but can tell you exactly what the probe and the Error Out indicator say.
The probe on the Error out terminal of Automation Open.vi (which appears on the Block Diagram of Acquisition Initialize.vi):
    Status: True
    Code: 2147221164
Source: Class not registered in Acquistion Initialize.vi -> JM_Test.vi
This error code is undefined.  No one has provided a description for this code, or you might have wired a number that is not an error code input.
The Error Out indicator on the Front Panel of Acquisition Initialize.vi says the same thing, except that the last line (This error code is ......) does not appear.
It seems odd that Automation Open would provide a Code and Source, and then say it's undefined.
    thx,
    John
Undefined errors in LV are fairly common.  Most are just general errors and give no information.  This error may have to do with your Active X class.  Is it still pointing to MS Word (Or perhaps your using Excel. I don't recall)?

  • Is it possible to buy "cheap" DAQ equipment for personal use?

    Hi guys!
I'm a huge fan of LabVIEW and I use it every day at work These days I've bought a house for me and my girlfriend. As we're currently renovation the house I got this crazy idea; why not make my own "smarthouse"??. I have LabVIEW at work so I could easily develop a small program for controling dimming of light, music on/off, and maybe some other cool stuff. (I'm already trying to build  a LEGO robot to get beer from my fridge )
But I can't do much without a DAQ device. I have looked into K12Labs and I found it quite facinating! After some research I found that myDAQ is only for students and educators in USA/Canada. Well, I live in Norway and I'm not longer a student either
    So I wonder:
    - Is it possible to buy Used/Demo versions of DAQ devices?
    - Are there any DAQ devices which are similar to the myDAQ?
    - What would you recommend for personal/hobby use?
The DAQ will only be used for controlling Relays and other small electrric cicuits, and maybe som small measurements. No need for high samplings rate and real-time measurement! My budget is quite low. Maybe around 2000 NOK, which is around 300 Dollar.
Thanks for any input in advance!

I have some ideas. First I have 4 daq516 card (PCMCIA) I do not use any more. I could send you one. free if you want. They require nidaq 6.90. But I have run them on up to Labview 8.6 using XP. I think you have to use XP on this daq driver. I do not have the cabling or the connector block any more. So you must purchase these items if you still can in order to use the cards.
The second solution is to purchase a cheap micro-controller development system. Then use C to program the micro-controller and serial communication. This may work well for non high speeds apps. I use that approach my self. A modern micro-controller have a lot of 10 bits AD inputs. This will set you back about 500 Kr, plus a USB to serial converter if you do not have such device
Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted

  • WILL "digital persona" finger print password manager work with Firefox?

My computer has a fingerprint reader that I use to store my passwords to log onto websites. It works with internet explore but have not been able to use it with Firefox. When trying to use the message states "The address wasn't understood". "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (daq) isn't associated with any program."
My software was loaded on computer and is named "digital Persona"

I can see from your "More System Details" list (thank you!) that the DigitalPersona extension is disabled. Usually this indicates that the extension contains a list of compatible Firefox versions and your version is not included. This is not a new issue with this software, unfortunately.
In March 2011, another volunteer found this:
"Thank you for contacting DigitalPersona. There will be no update releases for DigitalPersona Personal in the future. There will be no updates for Firefox 4 nor Internet Explorer 9. IF they work they work, if they do not work with DPPersonal, then you will have to decide to either keep DPPersonal and forgo Firefox 4 or IE 9, or vice versa. DigitalPersona is leaving the consumer market and is focusing on business applications. In fact, DigitalPersona Personal will not longer be supported after Mid-April of this year. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause. Sincerely, Tech Team "
Some volunteers have suggested testing a different extension: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fingerfox-se/ Fingerfox (SE)]. It claims to support DigitalPersona 2.0. An updated version is available from the developer's website: [http://amews.net/products/fingerfox/download/]. If you try it, could you report back on whether it works?

  • IOTECH DAQ PCI5501 1000 Series - ADC

I'm a student and new to Labview and DAQ cards, so this should be easy for most of you reading this...
I have an IOTECH 1000 series DAQ card.  I am able to input a sine wave into one channel and get results of the A/D conversion; however, I cannot get more than one channel to work...
I have configured the channels I want and am getting data, but it isn't valid data.  I have also configured for single-ended and am getting errors (invalid configuration error #5601).
Specifically, when I am configured for one input    0(1)    and differential, I get what seems to be valid data (sine wave from signal generator on CH0 and SGND).  When I configure for two channels   0(1),1(1)   I get crap...moreoever, the second column of the array is nothing but ones and zeros, which led me to believe the DAQ is set for differential by default.  So, I configured it for single-ended and I get the same data, but I also get an error for the single-ended configuration (invalid configuration error# 5601).  Also, when I tie the same input to CH0 and CH1, I get ones and zeros in both columns of the array.
The documentation for IOTECH seems to be ok for initial setup, but they don't give any examples.  They say that it's compatible with Labview and provide a pdf file for using the DAQ with Labview, but it's nothing more than basic setup/config info for the VI's.  I've searched and searched and can't find a clear answer or any information that seems to help.  I also ran across a comment about a HI and LO side for the analog inputs...but they say it has 16 single-ended inputs...and I have 16 analog inputs on my card...nothing about a HI and LO.  Anyway...
I hope this was clear.  If not, feel free to ask for clarification and additional information.  I'm sure anyone who has used this DAQ card and Labview can answer this question.  Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.
    D.Norwood

    Howdy norwood,
Unfortunately, I'm unfamiliar with IOTech DAQ devices, so I can't offer any personal experience to guide you in that regard. However, you might want to contact IOtech through their technical support page here for additional help with their LabVIEW driver package and hardware configuration. They would be best suited to answer your questions.
Sorry again that I could not be of more help!
    Warm regards,

  • Configure DAQ cards in RT PXI system

    Greetings all,
I'm just trying to learn how to use Real Time and I'm having trouble setting up the DAQ cards in the PXI chassis.
I am able to successfully connect to the PXI RT system and run simple VI's that have no DAQ or VISA access.
What I can't any info on is how to setup and access the DAQ and serial ports on the RT system. A quote from teh help file says,
"To configure remote DAQ devices, select your DAQ device from the Devices and Interfaces category under My System. Select Tools»NI-DAQ Configuration»Remote DAQ Configuration from the MAX menu to launch the Remote DAQ Configuration dialog."
I've tried this and it wants to see the RDA server running on the PXI, which of course isn't there sin
    ce it's running RT.
What am I doing wrong here?
    I'm running a PXI-8156B with a PXI-6071E and PXI-6713. This also has NT4 installed. Both PXI and host machine have LVRT 6.0.3, NI-DAQ 6.9.1
    The host is running Win200.
    Thanks

Using the Abort button to stop your VI is like using a tree to stop your car. It works, but there may be consequences.

    I'm using:
    LabVIEW 6.1
    NI-DAQ 6.9.2f4
    MAX 2.2.0.3010
This may be obvious to others, but it certainly was not to me...
I wanted to configure devices on my remote PXI RT system, and I experienced the exact situation described above.
All the instructions and help I could find seemed to suggest that I should select the following menu item:
Tools >> NI-DAQ Configuration >> Remote DAQ Configuration...
But when I went there and entered the name or IP address of the Remote System, MAX couldn't find it. The PXI system was listed in the "Remote Systems" folder, and I could set up its networking parameters and software downloads from the "Remote Systems" folder.
    It turns out the
    key is to:
right-click on "Devices and Interfaces" in the "My System" folder
select "Create New..." to bring up a dialog<\li>
selec "RDA/Ethernet Device" then click "Finish" to bring up yet another dialog
specify the remote systems address, then click "Next"
The List of Remote Devices Appears!!! (Hallelujah!)
select a device, "Next", specify a local device number, "Finish"
Now the Remote Device is listed in the "Devices and Interfaces" folder of "My System" (strange that it's not listed under the Remote System - but who cares at this point).
    repeat for each device
Now you can go back and select that original menu item (Tools >> NI-DAQ Configuration >> Remote DAQ Configuration...), specify the address, and (Behold!) there are those pesky remote devices.
(NOTE to NI... If this process is described anywhere in documents or help files relating to configuring devices on a remo
te RT PXI system I couldn't find it. Perhaps my trouble is that I've never used a PXI system or remote devices prior to trying to us LabVIEW Real-Time, but I'm probably not the only person in this situation.)

  • Ni-daq 6.7 and lab-pc+

I cannot get my lab-pc+ board to be recognized by ni-daq 6.7 and/or MAX. I
have installed the board using the add new hardware control panel. Windows
98 seems to recognize the board and give it the requested resources, which
match the jumper settings. I can see it under the device manager. One bit of
oddness is that the "NI-DAQ Information" tab in Lab-PC+ Properties contains
"Bus type ISA" and no other information. When I run MAX (2.0.2.79) and try
to add a new device, DAQ is not listed as an option. I have VISA 2.5b3
installed. After installing the latest VISA beta, I was surprised to find
that MAX does not run inside windows explorer, but always is launched in its
own window. If anyone can suggest how to get my daq board function
    ing, I
    would be grateful.

I had this problem also. Make sure you have administrative privileges. My
problem was that one of the system directories that LV needed to write too
did not have an owner and did not have any permissions associated with it.

  • How do I reach a support online person to help with my problem?

How do I reach on online support person to help solve my elements 10 organizing problems?

oard and analog input channel with MAX using a sine signal from a function generator and both worked fine. However, I have not been successful with any of the VI's in the DAQ examples that came with labview (i.e no signal is displayed in the chart window).Problem has been resolved. Installing NI-DAQ (shipped standalone on a CD with the board) separately from Labview caused some kind of conflict. To resolve the problem, only labview and the NIDAQ shipped with it on the same CD was installed.

  • Need LabVIEW Help With PC Attached To Many Daq Products!

    Hi,
I'm trying to help out a person in our Kansas office who Windows XP PC and LabVIEW (version 7.1 & 8.6 are both installed) which is also connected to a bunch of hardware devices.  They underwent an upgrade to the 8.6 some time ago and they have experienced nothing but problems since.  While I tried to launch the 7.1 version, they are still getting errors. Since I'm seeing this PC and hardware for the first time, if anyone has a baseline or starting configuration that I should try with the devices listed below, it would be much appreciated!
Here's a summary of what we have:
    LabVIEW 7.1 & 8.6
    DaqBook/2000A - Data Acquisition System
    DBK43A - Strain Gage Module
    DBK11A - Screw Terminal Card
    DaqView
    DaqView XL
This is used with a Beam Tester with which this is used to measure the applied load of the Beam Tester.
Since the person had no backup at all of their previously working system, I'm seeking any basic advice regarding configuration to try to get to a starting point that is at least going to minimally work for the person and then we can further try to enhance the configuration from there.
    Thanks in advance,
    SteveFerrero

Please be as specific as possible about the kinds of errors which are occurring.  Are they data acquisition errors? Are they data analysis errors? Are they errors when loading the programs?  We cannot help if we have to guess everything!
the first thing I would check is the DAQ drivers.  You did not list them in your summary.  Make sure they are appropriate for the LV versions and hardware installed.

  • DAQ signal recording

    Dear all,
I am a new Labview user.
I would like to know whether it is possible to build a simple VI to record a signal at a certain sample rate, without specifying a priori the number of samples to be acquired. In other words, I would like to build a program that records a signal for an undetermined period of time, between the moment I start it and the moment I manually stop the acquisition. To stop the acquisition I would like to use a stop button (perhaps putting everything in a whil loop? )
Could you please tell me if there is an easy way to do it with the DAQ assistant? or do I need to convert it and program the subVI to achieve this?
Thank you, I tried to look whether anyone else already posted this questions, but I didn' t find it.
    Bye

    Solved!

I would personally recommend the TDMS format.  Why?  Because DAQmx does it all for you.  There's a DAQmx Advanced Task Options pallet.  Inside that pallet is the DAQmx Configure Logging (TDMS).vi.  You tell this guy where to create the log, start your task, and let it do all of the work.  Here's a quick example of how I would set it all up.

  • Triggered DAQ from a LabVIEW-compiled DLL

Bit of an obsure one here:
I have a DAQmx task on a NI PXI-6052E device that is started by an external hardware trigger (a rising edge on PFI0).  The task commands the acquisition of 200 or so samples at around 3 kS/s, after which it waits for the next rising edge trigger.
This works fine when run from the LabVIEW IDE (2010) itself, and also when run from a compiled Windows executable.  But when run from a compiled DLL, it doesn't - it waits until the timeout expires and returns no data.  The trigger pulse is definitely still arriving at the card, so I can only assume that I am doing something wrong, or that it's a bug with LabVIEW.  (Googling and forum searching gets me nowhere, so I'm beginning to think I might be the first person in the world to try this )
Switching out the real DAQ device for a simulated one in MAX makes it work, presumably because simulated devices don't do triggering anyway.  Removing the trigger and making it run freely also gets it to work, but the triggering is essential to my application.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Ian,
I will help you find a solution for this issue you are encountering. Firstly, can I ask you for a few more details regarding your application.
Can I check that you are compiling the VI through a build specification in your project explorer. Does this project contain any subVIs or does it just use the one standalone front end VI.
Are you then trying to call this DLL function back into a LabVIEW development environment? or are you calling it into a different program, TestStand? Visual basics? If you are using a program other than LabVIEW can your try calling it from the LabVIEW Development Environment where you created it.
Also, how are you calling the DLL. DLLs can be called statically and dynamically, the differences have be outlined in this KnowledgeBase article.
Could you also refer to this KnowledgeBase which outlines the method for building a DLL in LabVIEW. Check to ensure you followed all the required steps. At the bottom of the article there are useful links which provide details on how to call DLLs.
Sorry for asking so many questions but the answers to these will really help me understand your issue.

  • DAQ Hardware Recommendation (air velocity measurements)

    Hello
My application is relatively simple (I think). Basicaly I need to measure
and record the air velocity at a number of different locations.
I am quite new to the whole DAQ "thing", and I don’t really know how to
go about selecting a proper hardware (partially due to a huge selection available from NI).
The transducer I need to use is TSI Model 8465
(For the detailed specs go to http://www.geneq.com/catalog/en/velocicalc_8455.html)
    I have a few requirements:
Relatively low cost (which should not be a big problem due to transducers low response time)
Hardware needs to be accessible through PC (I guess USB or PCI)
Hardware needs to be accessible by Microsoft .Net Languages (VS2005/VS2008)
I would also appreciate if you could point me toward more info on DAQ.
(Sort of like "Basics of DAQ" or "Introduction to DAQ" type tutorial/information)
    Thank You
    V

    Hi Vuli,
Welcome to the NI forums! Although posting to the correct
forums is encouraged, don’t fret about this one.
There are a number of things I will address here:
Accuracy, timing , links for getting started & finding the right device for
    your application.
Beginning note: Most DAQ cards (USB, PCI, and PXI) use
the DAQmx driver, which can be downloaded for free here  .
When installing this driver, it will detect and install example with support
for VS. You can find out if a specific device uses the DAQmx driver by viewing
the ‘Data Sheet’ from the device webpage, which should say which driver
    software is provided / used.
    Accuracy:
Although your transducer may have the accuracy you are looking for, you also
need to consider the accuracy and resolution of our cards (12 bit, 14 bit, 16
bit, etc) as this will determine the accuracy which the computer reads back.
    Timing: Timing
determines when the value of the ADC is latched. There are two types of timing –
software and hardware. Software timing will rely on your computer to call the
DAQmx Read function, which then calls the driver and sends a signal to the
card, which will then latch the ADC value, and return this to you. This amount
of time it takes, and the period of occurrence is purely system and program
dependant. Hardware timed, uses the clock on-board the DAQ card,
therefore acquiring samples (latching the ADC) at a specific and deterministic
rate. (Not all boards are hardware timed, but the ‘sample timing’ will tell you
the case, and how fast. Like you mention in your post, ‘ 10KS/s’ means that the
card will acquire at a rate of 10,000 samples per second). Again, your samples are returned when you call the DAQmx
read function. The key difference is that although the DAQmx read will still be
called non-deterministically, there is a FIFO which holds the samples until
this happens, therefore the samples still have values taken from the
    deterministic on-board clock.
