Personal Domain help with GoDaddy

Hi - has anyone performed this with GoDaddy? I don't see where on GoDaddy you actually insert your .mac info as a CName. Is this different than forwarding? Thanks. Also, can you do this for multiple personal domain names?
Steve

This is a helpful thread. I'm just dangerous enough to stumble my way through doing this, but I'm stumped right now with something unclear on GoDaddy's site:
When I go to edit the CNAME record for my domain at GoDaddy, the current settings are:
Host: www
Points To: @
Editing the cname record, I get the following options in the window that pops up:
Enter an Alias Name:
Points to Host Name:
I'm confused about where "web.mac.com" goes.
Do I enter it under "Enter an Alias Name" or "Points to Host Name"?

  • Problem with iWeb after associating a personal domain name with my MobileMe

I think I did this by the book. I associated my personal domain name with my MobileMe account, then changed the CName pointer at GoDaddy to MobileMe (MM), then went back to MM and hit 'Done'. iWeb now lists my MM account as 'My account name (personal domain name). It took a little while for the DNS pointer to propogate, but now I can go to a browser, type in my personal domain name, and MM delivers my iWeb website as I wanted it to, apparently from my domain, not web.me.com. The problem is, as soon as the DNS propogated, MM delivers my MM site OK, but iWeb can't find the files for it anymore. All my pages immediately went red (unpublished) when I tried to update the site, and any attempt to Publish gives me this error "iWeb couldn’t connect to MobileMe. Make sure your Internet connection works and try again." I'm cable connected to an ADSL router, and Airport connected to a cable router, and neither service has dropped out. I've rebooted, and retried, and the website is up under my own domain, so GoDaddy and MM both got it right. What did I do wrong? Thanks, someone... anyone?

This is now sort of resolved, but not very satisfactorily. One of the trainers at my local Appple Store found an old support issue in the archives going back to 2008, which blamed security settings for update problems. Coincidental with associating MobileMe with my personal domain, I had checked the privacy box and added an ID and PW to the site. That was the problem, not the personal domain, that was preventing iWeb from finding my MM account. Uncheck that box and my site happily updates. Of course, now I have a site that I cannot make private. In this case, not a show-stopper, but disappointing. I have reported it as a bug in the latest version of iWeb. Thanks for your help.

  • Domain registration with godaddy

I just finished my first site that I am gonna be hosting on business catalyst (through my creative cloud subscription).
I registered my domain name with godaddy
But I canot figure out how to point the name to my catalyst site.
Figuring out what settings to modify is confusing me. Not sure where I need to add the ns1.worldsecuresystems.com and so on.
Can someone please assist me with this?
    Thanks.

The way I did it is as follows:
    Go to:
    1. My Account
    2. Products.
    3. Domains.
    3. Press the Launch button associated with the specific domain.
    4. Nameservers (8th icon at the top, left to right)
    5. Set Nameservers
    6. Check "I have specific nameservers for my domains"
    7. Replace Nameserver field with BC's namesarver ns1.worldsecuresystems.com and so on.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is there a phone number I can call to talk to a live person about help with Lightroom issues ?

Is there a phone number I can call to talk to a live person about help with Lightroom issues ?

well the reason I wanted to talk to someone live because it would take forever to explain everything on here But anyway, here goes. I have an HP Pavilion Notebook with Intel Core i5-323om CPU @2.60 GHz and 8 gb ram 64bit. I am trying to run Lightroom 5.7 on my laptop and having major issues. I use an external hard drive for the storage of my photos. When I try to use Lightroom I run into many issues: Flickering of the screen, freezing up, slow, the loading circle just goes round and round lol. If I go to the washroom or leave the computer for even a minute it freezes up. I have to keep pressing Ctr/alt/delete to bring it back when it flickers. I have to constantly exit out of the program and restart it to be able to edit even just a couple of photos and then it starts acting up again.
I have tried un-installing and re-installing, updating everything on my pc, changing compatibility settings, updating development settings, I even took the laptop into have it looked at and they did all kinds of updates etc...and still couldn't figure out why it wasn't working for me. I have gone through the lists of troubleshooting for LR problems and there just seem to be nothing that works.....I have made new catalogues, moved them, tried using the software on my pc without the EHD, etc etc.......I have tried EVERYTHING...I think.....so I was looking for some answers as to why this is happening....

  • Personal Domain Name with Homepage

I created my website in dreamweaver. I have my files stored in the sites folder. I went through the whole homepage procedure to upload the files. Now I want to use my personal domain name for this site.
The current location of the site is this address: http://homepage.mac.com/n1konic/
My personal domain is this: www.jamesjackman.com
I tried making a new CNAME thing in my godaddy toolpanel. alias was www and the points to field had web.mac.com
I waited 48hrs and nothing happened. I have tried turning on forwarding and that doesn't even work.
    Someone help please.

What do you mean the files should be in a sub folder?
    Apple says:
if you plan on mixing both custom and iWeb-created sites, you should keep your custom site entirely within a subfolder of the Web/Sites folder.
...Which means don't upload your site folder plus the separate index.html file directly to the Web/Sites folder. Instead, put them both in an empty folder and upload that folder now containing your site folder and index.html file. That folder is then considered to be a "sub-folder" of the Web/Sites folder.
Directory Listing Denied - This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed. Is that what i'll see during the 48 hour wait period or is that suggesting i'm still doing something wrong?
Sorry, I don't know. If no-one else chips in here with some advice, you could ask your domain name registrar/hosting service what that message implies.

  • Personal Domains, MobileMe and GoDaddy

    Hi everyone,
I have purchased the domain for my personal Portfolio website through GoDaddy,
I followed the online instructions to add the domain to my Iweb through MobileMe, with it all saved whenever I try going onto my site (OllieHoff.co.uk) it just brings me to the Godaddy website. Anyone know where I have gone wrong?
    Thanks!

Well, did you do everything that is needed?  It is not only at MobileMe that you need to make changes.  These need to be done at GoDaddy too.
Also, you don't add the domain to iWeb - iWeb is just what you use to create the site.  You enter the domain name into the personal domain name settings at MobileMe where the site is published.
You then need to log into your account at GoDaddy and go to the DNS settings and you need to set the CNAME to web.me.com and it should then work.
You need to do both because you are effectively linking your domain name at GoDaddy with you website that is published to MobileMe/the Apple servers.

  • Using Personal Domain Name with iWeb08

As per instructions I have setup my domain and made the changes to the Cname records with my Domain Registry ( https://cp.domaincentral.com.au). Domain is noted at the bottom of iWeb as I would expect and also if I upload I get the notation that the page will be seen as the domain.
Page cannot be found on my domain. I can see with the generic .mac address fine.
    Cname Info:
    jimleonard.net.au. CNAME web.mac.com. 3600 Manual Active Yes
    Have I missed somthing?

Okay, I have waited a period of 48 hours for updates to be be done with my domain name:
    jimleonard.com.au. NS dns1.domaincentral.net.au. 3600 Auto Active Yes
    jimleonard.com.au. NS dns2.domaincentral.net.au. 3600 Auto Active Yes
    jimleonard.com.au. CNAME web.mac.com. 3600 Manual Active Yes
    jimleonard.com.au. A 17.250.248.34 3600 Manual Active Yes
    www.jimleonard.com.au. CNAME web.mac.com. 3600 Manual Active Yes
    Config is fine @ .mac:
    Personal Domain
.Mac is configured to host your domain:
    www.jimleonard.com.au
If you entered the correct settings at your registrar more than 48 hours ago and your iWeb site still doesn't appear at your domain, try these troubleshooting tips.
I have also made changes and uploaded to"all.mac" I am still unable to see the site with the Domain, all is fine as the .Mac address:
    http://web.mac.com/jimleonard/Travel/Jim_and_SuzieTravels.html
    Have I missed the point?

  • How do I reach a support online person to help with my problem?

How do I reach on online support person to help solve my elements 10 organizing problems?

oard and analog input channel with MAX using a sine signal from a function generator and both worked fine. However, I have not been successful with any of the VI's in the DAQ examples that came with labview (i.e no signal is displayed in the chart window).Problem has been resolved. Installing NI-DAQ (shipped standalone on a CD with the board) separately from Labview caused some kind of conflict. To resolve the problem, only labview and the NIDAQ shipped with it on the same CD was installed.

  • Set up personal domain - help needed

I followed the procedure and added my domain, configuring dot mac to use my personal domain. The domain is also correctly listen on the bottom of the iweb page.
I went to my provider and inserted the requested forward (cname) to web.mac.com
Now what happens is that if i enter in the browser my domain (www.mydomain.com) the common dot mac page appears: http://www.apple.com/dotmac/
But not the page i published using iweb.
When I click "show web site" after publishing in iweb Safari also opens the general doc mac page mantioned above.
If I click "visit" in iweb i got a wrong address in Safari "http://web.mac.comtestsite/" where "testsite" is the name of my site created in iweb.
    What am i doing wrong?
    Using Tiger 10.4.11
    Thanks

Setting up CNAME does not happen instantly. It can take up to 24 hours or longer, depending on your hosting service.

  • Personal Domain Help

When I went to the help page to find out how to finish the new domain name this came up.... I had no idea what it meant. Had I already done this when I'd entered the new domain from my .mac settings? If you know please help.
In the web hosting area of the registrar's site, you've linked your domain name to your .Mac iDisk by pointing the "cname record" to "web.mac.com." For more information about adding or changing a cname record, contact your domain name registrar.

Had I already done this when I'd entered the new domain from my .mac settings?
No. As it says, this must be done in the web hosting area of the registrar's site. The registrar is not .Mac, it is the place where you bought your name.

Nobody will ring you, sorry. But perhaps we can help (this is not Adobe staff).
Let's start with what you purchased. Check your receipt. Adobe Reader is free, nobody should have charged you for that..
Then, let us know what you mean by "will not load". If you get any messages, please let us know the exact words.

  • Personal Domain - Problem with CNAME

Video nerd here who knows zero about web...
My website han't been touched in about 5 years since I had it built. I decided to buy iWeb 08 specifically so I could do my own thing and still use the web address I've been using for years.
I followed all the directions from iWeb, and got my host on the phone to change my cname settings. They released all the permissions for me to do that, and when we tried, we got this error:
CNAME web.mac.com.' is invalid (CNAME aliases to zone name are not allowed per RFC 2219))
They guy on the phone with me at Intermedia said he didn't know what was up. He tried to find answers on Apple's site, but no luck.
Anybody here able to give me a hand with this?
    Much appreciated!
    Thanks.

yep. With and without end periods. with and without www... I'm totally lost.
    www.blpvideo.com
    web.mac.com/blpvideo
