Personal domain on iCloud?
Does iCloud have the ability to offer a personal domain like MobileMe did?
I could be wrong, but I thought the local passwords for your computer were separate from the Apple ID/passwords used to access iTunes, App Store, and iCloud since they can be used on devices that are not your computer. If they are separate as I think they are, then there should be no problem.

Can I move my personal domain hosted in Mobile Me to iCloud?
I have 2 personal domains hosted in two separate Mobile Me accounts - but can't see anything about how to transfer them to iCloud - does iCloud even have this functionality? What happens when Mobile Me disappears?

iCloud has no hosting feature. Not even the Galleries .
You need to find a replacement for your website at mobile me once it gets disabled ( sometime next year ). -
I can't use iCal invitation with personal domain-mail
Hi,
I use iCal on iCloud with my personal domain mail [email protected]
When I invite another user that have an email address with the same domain like [email protected], the email invitation doesn't arrive!
Why??
I try the same thing with google calendar, and the invitation arrive correctly...You have transported all your old copies of those applications onto your Mavericks system. You can't do that nor do you have to. Please do a proper reinstall:
Install or Reinstall Mavericks, Mountain Lion, or Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless. -
How do i add a personal domain to my iWeb site?
I created a website using iWeb and logged on to mobile me to activate the personal domain I bought. It's asking me to:
Add Personal Domain
Before your iWeb site can be viewed at your personal domain, you must complete the following steps:
Go to your registrar's website. Define web.me.com as the "www" CNAME (alias) for your domain.
If you need help creating a CNAME, contact your registrar.
Return to this page and click Done.
Your registrar can take up to 48 hours to update your domain.
Can someone explain where or who my registrat is? I bought my domain through GoDaddy.com. Are they my registrar?
Thanks,
DaliAre they my registrar?
Yes.
And to answer the next question : godaddy iweb cname

It's also discussed daily in the MobileMe forum : godaddy cname -
Multiple Web Sites with Personal Domain Names - Overview
I have read through the last 10 pages of these discussions and have almost worked this out, but I need some help.
Problem:
I want to publish and edit two separate web sites with their own, individual, personal web addresses
from the same user account on the same Mac using iWeb '08 (2.0.2) and my .Mac account
_So far:_
I have purchased and registered the two domain names (with Cheap-DomainRegistration.com)
I have configured the CNAME to point to web.mac.com, and "Set up a Personal Domain" in iWeb successfully, but using a separate Mac for each web site.
The two sites work great.
_What (I think) I need to know:_
(excuse me for copying these posts out, but I can't find a way to link them to this post)
1) Should I be using iWebSites as suggested by Old Toad (posted Jan 24 in response to StAnNe's "Multiple Websites--HELP!!!")?
I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
2) Should I be using Mireille's approach (also posted Jan 24 in response to StAnNe's "Multiple Websites--HELP!!!")?
Yes you are correct in the thought that with a family pack you can use different accounts and that is the easiest way to upload with one click to .mac. But it is still possible to publish differents sites to one .mac account if that is all one has. Even if the sites are in one domain file each purchased mysite.com domain name purchased can be pointed to a different page in the site
Look at it this way
Original Poster has
site1 page 1 page 2 and so on
then he/she has brothersite page 1 and so on.
They each have a domain name purchase wherever
then site1domain.com is forwarded to site 1 page1
and brotherdomain.com is forwarded to brothersite page 1.
Even though both sites are in the same file they do not have anything to do with each other.
This is one possibility there are others but for a novice user this could be the way to go for simplicity.
(Mireille, if you're there, can you clarify what you said - thank you)
3) Would I use Roddy's fix (posted Jan 23 in response to canadensis' "Publishing Multiple Websites?")?
Here's an example of how you can separate two websites that are on the same domain file.
Quit iWeb
Create a new folder on your desktop and call it "iWeb Sites".
Inside this folder create two more - Website A, Website B.
Go to Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb and copy your domain file - command C
Paste this into folders A and B - command V - and also paste a copy of it somewhere else - like in Docs - in case you make a mistake!
Double click the domain file in the folder Website A - this will launch iWeb.
In the left column, delete site B, save and quit iWeb.
Double click the domain file in the folder Website B to launch iWeb.
Delete website A, save and quit.
Drop the iWeb sites folder into your Home Folder.
If you want quick access to this folder you can highlight it and do command L to create an alias to leave on the desktop.
From now on, to launch any site in iWeb you open its folder in the iWebsites folder and double click the domain file.
This is not necessary when you are working on only one site as iWeb saves the domain file of the last site you were working on to Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb. When you open the iWeb application, the last site you worked on will be launched.
Summary:
I'm not sure if some of the answers in previous discussions allow for personal domain names, which is what I need.
I would be very grateful for any suggestions as I'm getting bogged down.
Many Thanks,
JeffWhen you said, "you don't need to do CNAME for both sites…", would this method still allow me to use personal web addresses for both sites?
Yes. With "Ordinary Forwarding" you normally just type your .Mac url (web.mac.com/username/sitename) into a form at the place where you have your name.
I thought I was using 'web.mac.com' as the 'www' CNAME (alias) for my personal domain name (web address), so that when someone typed in my personal domain name they would 'go' to the domain registration location, which would then pass it on to the .Mac server, where my web site is hosted.
That's exactly right. It's just not the only way to do that. Ordinary Forwarding is another way, but it differs in terms of what appears in the address bar of the browser. Either you will see web.mac.com/username/.... or, if you add "masking", you will see your personal name for all pages. The CNAME method results in a address bar that reads www.myname.com/sitename/pagename.html.
Am I way off?
All help gratefully received,

How do you post multiple personal domains to .Mac sub accounts?
I was assured by .Mac tech support that .Mac will host a different personal domain on each of five accounts of a family pak. Now I discover that iWeb is a one-trick pony. I'm stunned that I can't create separate sites and upload them individually. I've never heard of an application that can only create one document!
And I can't even find the data for that ONE document; ~/Library/Application/Domain.sites2 is only 20kb no matter how many photos you've added to the site.
So I guess I have two questions: How do you post multiple domains to sub accounts?
And, where's my data? The tilde (~/Library/etc.) indicates home folder; that is where I was looking. I did a Spotlite search and discovered that in attempting to backup my data, I'd moved it; Spotlite found it and it was all intact.
Then I discovered I could duplicate Domain.sites2, change the names to Domain de.sites2, and Domain daru.sites2, open daru's site and delete de's, then open de's and delete daru's, and I had two separate sites that I presume I'll be able to upload separately. Once I get .Mac sub groups created...
Seems like a stupid bit of programming; must have hired some windows guys to code it...
Problem I'm having now is, .Mac won't let me set up a sub account in my wife's name because she already has a .Mac ID and a trial account because she joined a .Mac group. Awaiting a reply rom .Mac tech support.
So my question isn't quite answered yet, but it does look like I can post several sites without having to set up separate user accounts. Seems like this could be explained in the help file in plain English... -
Can you have an email account from a personal domain on mobile me?
I want to be able to answer emails that come in from my personal domain website (www.writenow-communications.ca) with an email address [email protected] (I want mobile me email to reply from that name.)
Is this possible, and if it is, how do I do it?
I'm using iWeb '08.
Thanks!iWeb is an application to create and publish webpages.
It does not deal with e-mail either with MobileMe or 3rd party accounts.

Personal Domain - Can I get rid of my iWeb site's name in the URL?
Hey everyone,
I just set up my iWeb site (called "This is Out of Context") to point to a personal domain name (www.thisisoutofcontext.com). Problem is, now my homepage URL reads: http://www.thisisoutofcontext.com/THISIS_OUT_OFCONTEXT/HOME.html
Is there any way to "get rid" of the second "THISIS_OUT_OFCONTEXT" so that my URL simply reads: http://www.thisisoutofcontext.com/HOME.html ? You know...short 'n sweet...like a "normal" website?
Any thoughts or tips would be much appreciated (please go easy on me, I'm a total newbie here...)
Cheers!does this work with iweb 08?
my site was running fine until i upgraded to iweb 08 and redsigned my site. i have a godaddy account for my domain name and i have it masked and forwarded but my apple url still appears at the top of the browser bar while in safari and firefox. my site is www.louislemoine.com
if you go there you will see what i mean. maybe what you are talking about will solve this problem. i am at work so i can not check to see if what you talk about will work. i am hoping that you are onto something. -

Blog and personal domain/store, SEO & other issues
I'm using the blog format to provide helpful tips, dynamic content and general marketing for our online store. The .Mac points to a subdomain, not directly to the site and the content can be viewed through the store pages in a frame (GoLive). I've submitted sitemaps to google for both the store site and blog subdomain and many questions, lots of uncertainity and variable scenarios on this and .Mac versus maybe better SEO friendly options like Wordpress and .Mac's general sluggishness. I like the ease of updating with .Mac and the main reason I have taken the .Mac to personal domain approach was the Search capability.
1) Is there a way using GoLive or 3rd party option to search for blog content if I simply Published to folder and upload content & pages in the site versus the personal domain approach?
2) If I update blog content directly to the site, what other steps aside from, resubmitting the sitemap to Google are good SEO practices?
3) How does the blog via subdomain sitemap/Google content get crawled? So far the visible links appear to correlate to 'Number of Excerpts to Show'. plus the main blog page and archive page. Will submitting the sitemap in a particular level of the blog folders affect the crawling to maximize content discovery?
4) Does having content in a frame from the subdomain from a .Mac account affect SEO & possibly get into Duplication of Content issues?
5) Probably more questions to follow depending on logical direction and tweaks...
Any insights, input or tweak suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks!Another question:
6) Is there a method to create a sitemap of Blog entry links that you can post on a site? This and other navigation issues are a bit difficult, AFAIK. -
Hi, my question is, can i use the idisk to host my own personal website that is currently being hosted at another site, and use my own domain name? I am not using iweb but i do have idisk. I simply want to move my current website thats being hosted elsewhere to my idisk and use my personal domain.
RobWelcome to the Apple Discussions.
can i use the idisk to host my own personal website that is currently being hosted at another site, and use my own domain name?
Yes. Just copy the folder and files that you put on the other server onto your iDisk in the Web/Sites folder. You should have an index.html file and a folder with the site files. Have your domain name provider point the name to "http://web.mac.com/your account name/". As long as there is only one site in that folder and one index.html file (outside of the site folder) that will do it. -
Hi, i am new to the apple community so bare with me whilst i struggle to explain...
I recently purchased a hosting site through netregistry.net. www.toyboxtherapies.com.au I spoke to them to allow the changes to the CNAME through their site. They did this for me. Once they did this my original 3 page site that I had published to mobileme came up.
When i added changes to the site, none of them were published even though iweb said they had been. I gave the site 48 hours (well, i gave them a week) to update the changes.
I went to double check today and now iweb wont let me publish to my domain name at all, it just lists File>Set up personal domain on mobile me.
When I log into mobile me my domain name is there. I have tried removing t and setting it up again, but nothing is happening with iweeb. Still the same problem.
Please help! I am trying to get this business off the ground and its all very frustrating! This is what I see in a Lookup :
; <<>> DiG 9.6-ESV-R4-P3 <<>> www.toyboxtherapies.com.au cname +multiline +nocomments +nocmd +noquestion +nostats +search
;; global options: +cmd
www.toyboxtherapies.com.au. 3600 IN CNAME web.me.com.
It means that the CNAME record points to MobileMe.
So go where you manage your domain and delete the CNAME record and change the A-record(s) to point to your new webhost.
It takes some time for the changes to propagate thru the internet. A minimum of 20 minutes.
Note that when you publish to MobileMe, iWeb recieves the domainname information from the MobileMe server. Only when you publish elsewhere you have to enter the domainname. But if you do not change the settings where you host your domainname, it still directs to MMe. But that's beyond iWeb. -
Problem with iWeb after associating a personal domain name with my MobileMe
I think I did this by the book. I associated my personal domain name with my MobileMe account, then changed the CName pointer at GoDaddy to MobileMe (MM), then went back to MM and hit 'Done'. iWeb now lists my MM account as 'My account name (personal domain name). It took a little while for the DNS pointer to propogate, but now I can go to a browser, type in my personal domain name, and MM delivers my iWeb website as I wanted it to, apparently from my domain, not web.me.com. The problem is, as soon as the DNS propogated, MM delivers my MM site OK, but iWeb can't find the files for it anymore. All my pages immediately went red (unpublished) when I tried to update the site, and any attempt to Publish gives me this error "iWeb couldn’t connect to MobileMe. Make sure your Internet connection works and try again." I'm cable connected to an ADSL router, and Airport connected to a cable router, and neither service has dropped out. I've rebooted, and retried, and the website is up under my own domain, so GoDaddy and MM both got it right. What did I do wrong? Thanks, someone... anyone?
This is now sort of resolved, but not very satisfactorily. One of the trainers at my local Appple Store found an old support issue in the archives going back to 2008, which blamed security settings for update problems. Coincidental with associating MobileMe with my personal domain, I had checked the privacy box and added an ID and PW to the site. That was the problem, not the personal domain, that was preventing iWeb from finding my MM account. Uncheck that box and my site happily updates. Of course, now I have a site that I cannot make private. In this case, not a show-stopper, but disappointing. I have reported it as a bug in the latest version of iWeb. Thanks for your help.

IWeb hanging at logging into MobileMe (Personal Domain Problem)
I've searched and searched for an answer to my problem all over the internet and these forums and keep coming up blank.
Apologies if the answer is somewhere and I've missed it.
It could be a wider problem with my MobileMe, but iWeb is where it first occurred.
I recently had my personal website forwarding to my MobileMe site, and was using the MobileMe webspace to host my site. I had set my personal domain (in MobileMe) to the personal website. Why I did this I'm not sure, as I wasn't actually using the external webspace, merely forwarding it to my MobileMe site.
However I then decided I wanted to create a new site and this is where the problems began to occur. When I tried to publish the new site, it seemingly tried to publish to personaldomain/new_website name/ which obviously didn't exist as there was no external webspace there.
I then decided to reset everything, get rid of the personal domain setting within MobileMe and just merely forward my external web addresses to my Me sites. Upon deleting my Personal Domain from the mobileme settings page and logging into iWeb, the website name next to my username was still my external website address, and iWeb seemed to think it was all still published (which it was, as when I went to my web.me.com/etc, my website was there) However I wanted to start from scratch and republish everything, so I deleted all the web/sites section from my idisk, and hoped I could republish everything (this could have been a mistake!)
Now when I try to publish, iWeb just hangs at logging into MobileMe and won't publish anything. iPhoto also won't upload new photo albums and neither will aperture. They just hang at syncing galleries.
I'm completely at a loss as to how to proceed. I've deleted preferences from iweb and also logged out of mobileme, put a fake name in and logged back in again (to clear the cache I think) and still iweb hangs. I've even tried creating a new user account and logging in there and still it hangs.
Apologies for the essay of a post, if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Just some suggestions as to where to go would be helpful. I'm wondering if it's something to do with Keychains? I had a brief look in there but it all went over my head. This is the first problem I've ever had with my new mac, and being from a PC background, don't really know where to look to fix things.
Thanks in advance to people who even get through reading the entire post!If stephen's suggestion doesn't help you might consider the following:

After waiting a day for the rolling restore to happen, I called AppleCare because Apple had sent an email saying my service was back, and it wasn't. I still could send and not receive using Mail.
Here is what fixed it. Go to MobileMe (terrible name) in System Preferences, log out. Then enter a garbage name and password and try to log in. This apparently clears the MobileMe preferences. Then enter your real UserName and PassWord. For me this was lights on.
I am left wondering how long ago I could have had email had I known this preference reset scheme.
Although for a different MMe issue it will clear out the MMe login info so you can enter everything anew and give it a fresh start.
