Personal Finance Software with Desktop App

I am looking for software that will let me enter my financial transactions and keep track of bills I need to pay on my iPod touch, but one that I will also be able to sync to and do the same on my Mac. I have heard that iBank 3 gives you iPhone/iPod Touch support, but it says that it is done through Safari which doesn't sound like it would be very good for me since I assume you need an internet connection to use the app on the iPod Touch, and there is not much public wifi where I live. I would like to just store the transactions on the iPod and sync it when I connect to my mac and/or get a wifi connection. So if iBank will do this, please let me know.
I heard that SplashMoney would do this and I tried the demo on my Mac and saw that it seemed to be able to do what I wanted, but I didn't like that in order to change the amount entered on a recurring bill you had to record the bill and then go to the account and change it. I don't know about everyone else, but my bill amounts vary every month... I also didn't like that when you download transactions from your bank, it doesn't automatically match them to previously entered transactions.
So please let me know if iBank on the iPod requires an internet connection when you want to use it, or if I'm missing something in SplashMoney, or i there is any other s/w that will work on both my iPod and my Mac.

I've been using MoneyDance for about a year and like it. I've also seen the post about them working on an app for the iPhone, but there hasn't been a peep since. Out of curiosity, I've been trying out iBank for the past week. I can confirm that the current method iBank uses through the web and Me.com com synching is nice, but does not allow updates when you are not connected to the internet. However, on their blog, they say they are also working on an app that would presumably allow this.
Between the two, iBank is visually more appealing, but so far seems a little more difficult to use (but still good). I'm not yet sure if the difficulty is real or just me adjusting. I'm mainly poking around because the one thing MoneyDance does not do well for me is forecasting to my next paycheck considering future amounts in my register + amounts in my reminders. So, I have to pre-enter all of my upcoming bills to get to the balance of cash I have left to spend. iBank seems to do the forecasting better. But there are always trade offs.

  • What personal finance software works best with MacBook Air

My Quicken has crashed out and lost data one time too many.  What is the best Apple friendly personal finance software to use with a MacBook?

One that I like and which has very similar capabilities to Quicken is iBank. It took me a couple of months to adopt to how they do things (after many years of using Quicken on a PC) but now I would never go back. They have a 30 day free trial also. http://www.iggsoftware.com/ibank/

Quicken for Mac 2007 works just fine (and is said to be compatible with Mavericks).  It is often denounced for not being "modern", but when something works, and does everything I want, I need a good reason to switch.
A few years ago (2011), I got that reason when I upgraded OSX and Quicken stopped working due to the absence of Rosetta.  I switched to iBank.  I used it for more than a year.  It was cumbersome, they have no sense of a helpful user interface, but it "works".  I found ONE feature that I liked:  you can attach an image (or any file) to a register entry, so I can save receipts right with the register.
But when Intuit came out with the revised Quicken 2007 for Mountain Lion, I gladly went back.  I found that being able to update stock prices right in the portfolio view (for those not automatically found online) was handy - in iBank you have to generate a report to see the holdings, and then you have to switch to a view of "Securities" then scroll down through that list to find your stock, then "edit" then change the price, then "Save" then go back to reports and re-generate the portfolio view.  Also, if you enter a stock purchase in a Quicken register, the price you paid gets added to the price history for the stock (as of the date of the transaction).  No such help in iBank.  Most of the helpful UI features (like increasing the date with the + key) are glaringly missing in iBank.  I find I am getting no more than about 3-4 keystrokes before having to move the mouse and click.
If you are considering sharing the app on an iPad, Quicken won't work, but I found that iBank for iPad doesn't work either.  The interface is completely different from the Mac version, you can't do much with it, and if you have a stock whose price is $11.25 / share and sell 200 shares, you might find that $22.50 gets added to your cash in the account.  (I actually made a few million dollars when it decided that 200 shares at $11.25  yielded $2,250,000.)  Luckly, I received a refund for that app.
Depending on how the Mavericks switch goes, I hope to be able to stick with Quicken, but I am keeping my records up-to-date in both now, because I can live with iBank.  I will just have to keep an eye on its arithmetic.

  • I am using Quicken Personal Finance Software 2007 for Mac

I am using Quicken Personal Finance Software on my Mac.  I am running updated Mountain Lion.  I entered all my information and brought my accounts all up to date.  I quit Quicken and opened it again a couple days later and all information I entered was missing.  This has happened 3 times now over the past 3 months, and each time I go back to November 2011 and re-enter ll the deposit, debits and reconcile. Each time when I reopen Quicken all information is back to 2011. Can anyone help me?

I can't see on their website that they have made a Mountain Lion compatible version, only Lion:
    http://quicken.intuit.com/support/help/lion-compatible-quicken-mac-2007/GEN83769 .html
But this does say they expect it to be compatible:

  • Is there a good apple based alternative to the personal. finance software program "quicken for mac"?  It is a poorly supported program.

Is there a good apple based alternative to the persona finance software program "quicken for mac"?  It is a poorly supported program.

I switched from Quicken on a Windows computer to iBank on a Mac. It is a very good program, has very good free download connections to financial institutions (optional), and very good reports. The only negative is that it is just different enough from Quicken that there is a learning curve and the first month or two were frustrating -- but that is likely true of anything that you might change to. http://www.iggsoftware.com/ibank/

  • What is the Best personal finance software for mac?

I was a quicken user years ago but they don't seem to have an updated version. Any suggestions?

Updated for what?  Home accounting principles are pretty much the same now as they were in 2007: Quicken 2007 for Intel (Snow Leopard, Lion, Mt. Lion and Mavericks) for $15 here:
    http://quicken.intuit.com/personal-finance-software/quicken-2007-osx-lion.jsp
I would still be using my Quicken Deluxe 2002 if it did not require Rosetta, which is no longer included in OS X since Lion.

  • What's the best personal finance software for mac?

Any recommendations for personal finance tracking/reporting software?
I've used Quicken and Bento but wonder if there isn't some easier way to keep track of credit cards, cash, income, checks, etc.
    Thanks.

Some often recommended include iBank (which I use and am quite satisfied with), MoneyDance and, if your needs are very modest, Quicken Essentials. Intuit has promised a version of Quicken 2007 that will run under Lion sometime this spring, but I've not seen any more specific date.
    Regards.

  • After update: can't go online with desktop app

when I try to work online with y desktop app this window opens up "going online, please wait" - then nothing happens. I already reinstalled Story and Air but the problem still exists. This started after an update a few days ago. Before everything was fine.
Please help, I have to be able to work offline and then go online to sync my work with others.

With the latest update of Story, now it will not be possible for you to work in online mode inside AIR application and use the functionality of online-offline syncing of your data, if you are a free Story user. Though you can work in AIR-offline if you are an existing user on that machine. You should receive a message regarding this at the time of login in AIR app.
So now you can only login to AIR-offline to access your work that is there on your machine while you can use browser app to access your data that is on the cloud.
    Thanks

  • [Desktop][Connect] Control Spotify Connect Devices With Desktop App

Recently, Spotify Connect enabled controlling the desktop app with a mobile device, but this is not complete!
Allow the controlling of Spotify Connect devices with the Destop App. For example I can control a mobile device from my PC, or I can control the PlayStation app from my PC.
Right now I run a virtual machine with a virtual tablet to run the Spotify Mobile app to use Spotify Connect to control devices from my PC, when I should be able to use the desktop app in the first place.

    Updated: 2015-06-30Hello!
This should already work - as a matter of fact I'm just controling my smartphone via my Desktop atm.
Could you please tell us what devices you're using and which Spotify versions you've got installed on there? Also are you on the same network on both devices?

Use the developers site for any software demo/download/purchase that is of a substancial cost amount to you.

If we're using the web app on the same computer where we have the problem, we're able to view the content in the conference.
It's working fine internally, it's also working fine when users are outside of our office.
All other functions in Lync are working fine.
We have 1 standard Lync server and 1 Edge, we don't have a reverse proxy but multiple IPs with port forward to corresponding ports on each server.
How does the Lync client connect the shared content?

To Fix your issue, you can follow below steps
A common root cause for this error occurs when required ports are not available. Begin troubleshooting by verifying required ports.

    TCP/443
    UDP/3478
    TCP/50,000-59,999 (Outbound only)

  • Personal Finance Software

I am researching financial software for my Mac. Having used Quicken and MS Money for my Windows PC, I bought Quicken for mac and have not been very impressed with the lack of features. I have found information on a program called iBank and also Moneydance. Does anyone have any experience with either of these programs? I understand they both work with Macs. Any advise would be appreciated.

There are literally dozens of such applications. You will find all of them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate. Both sites allow users to rate downloaded software so you can see which packages users have rated highly to assist you in making choices. However, you may want to examine a number of the demos in order to find one that best suits your needs.
