Personal Hotspot disappeared on my iPad 3 (wifi+cellular) after iOS 6

Personal hotspot was available and working on my iPad 3 (wifi+cellular). After upgrading to iOS 6, I cannot see anywhere personal hotspot option in the Settings application.
I also have an iPhone 3GS which is also running iOS 6; personal hotspot can be accessed from Settings app menu and working without any problems.
I'd appreciate your help to get personal hotspot working on my iPad 3. Thanks in advance.

Open Settings and tap on “General”
Tap on “Reset Network Settings”
Now tap back to Settings and you should see the familiar Personal Hotspot option. Yes, you will lose your wireless network passwords and custom DNS settings by resetting network preferences, so be sure to note any necessary network settings before doing so.
give your iphone a hard boot by holding the power button and home button. This will insha'Allah resolve the issue.

  • Personal Hotspot not working between iPad Mini and iPhone 6 Plus

The personal hotspot function between my iPad Mini and iPhone 5C worked perfectly.
I am now using an iPhone 6 Plus with the same iPad Mini and cannot establish a connection at all.
Bluetooth and Wifi are enabled on both devices and the iPad says it has found my phone, displays the signal strength, 4G, battery remaining and 2 linked circles.
When I choose that hotspot it tries to connect then just keeps saying "Remote Hotspot Failure. Unable to start Personal Hotspot. Stuart's iPhone 6Plus"
    Please help!

  • Personal Hotspot - IPhone 4S and IPad 2

I have found issues similar to my issue.  Some are older and most do not have a solution.
Just moved from a HTC Inspire 4G (AT&T) to the IPhone 4s (AT&T).   With the Inspire, I used the personal hotspot to connect my iPad 2.  I was hoping to do the same with the 4s.
With the Inspire I never (yes, never) had an issue with the iPad and the hotspot.  With the 4s, I will be surfing along or watching a movie and I will lose the Internet connection.
    Symptoms:
The iPad will connect to the iPhone with no problem
The connection is established and an IP address assigned
Connection is solid for about 10 minutes then no Internet connection
Important to note that the WiFi connection between the two devices appears to be up.  I do not lose the IP address.  The iPhone reports a device connected.  The iPad reports it is connected to the iPhone.
Both are running the latest IOS 5.0.1
If I attach a Windows device to the hotspot, I do not lose connection.
As soon as I disconnect the Windows device, the iPad will lose Internet (but not the connection)
The only fix is to cycle the personal hotspot on the phone.
I have tried variations of the fixes for similar issues with no permanent fix.
    Any ideas?

Im not sure if I'm experiencing the exact same symptoms, but it seems to me every time the ipad goes to sleep / left unused for 8-10 minutes, the wifi link between the devices is lost, and i have to reconnect them again.

Does your carrier support the personal hotspot function on iPads (some only support it on iPhones) ? If they do, and you are on the correct tariff with them, then you should have a Settings > General > Cellular > Personal Hotspot option : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4517

  • Can't connect to wifi network after iOS update

Can't connect to wifi network after iOS update.

This does not work in my case.
Situation: we have wifi at home using WPA encryption.
The iPod Touch 8GB connected seamless to this network and anything was ok. After some days i could no longer connect, the iPod told me "connection to network 'networkname here' failed". Deleting the network and reenter the (correct) passphrase was no help, but changing the SSID on the router was helpful: the iPod could connect again ... for several days.
Now things stopped working again. Resetting network settings did not help either.
The iPod can see the network, is asking me for the passphrase and after several seconds telling me: can't connect. On the router log i don't even see a dhcp request, but other laptops work fine with the same wifi network.
That's a mess, i cannot and will not change the SSID every some days just to get the iPod working again.

  • Personal hotspot disappeared in iphone4s!?

Hi, I have an Iphone 4s and the new Ipad mini. I could always set a personal hotspot on my iphone to connect with my ipad, but after the updates to IOS8 this option has disappeared. Apparently, this personal hotspot option is not available any more for iphone4S? Has anybody had the same problem? Is the hotspot hidden somewhere else?
Thank you very much for your help!!

    Hello salviathymol,
You should still have Personal Hotspot as an option on your iPhone. If you are not seeing it, take a look in Settings > Cellular > Personal Hotspot and see if it turned on. If you are not seeing it at all, then take a look at the article below to troubleshoot the issue further.

  • Personal Hotspot Disappearing

    Hello -
I have an iPhone 4s, software version 5.0.1 (9A406).  Recently, after no apparent changes, my personal hotspot feature disappeared.  I spent many hours on the phone with AT&T, Apple, and even went to the Apple store.  Everyone was stumped.  The folks at the Apple store had me completely reset my phone, which did not solve the problem.  Finally, my wife came to the rescue and Googled this issue for me.
Here was the fix:  go to Settings, General, About and change your iPhone's name.  Reset your iPhone by holding in both power and home button until you see the Apple, and when it's done, voila - personal hotspot returns.
Hopefully, this will save someone else some time.
Moral of the story, Google it first!

OK, I see - If tethering is not provisioned by the carrier for particular APN, it is right manner in iOS 5.0.1, that "personal hotspot" option disappears from Seting Menu.
Thank you for your response, but let me please express my personal opinion - this is not typical manner of iOS - disappearing of options in Setting, in case they are not available (e.g. "Mobile data" slider on iPAD when SIM is removed - Mobile data slider is grayed, which is much better manner). Typical user of "iThings" must be confused, is somethings (commonly used) just disappers... Please send my opinion to Apple responsible person.

  • MacBook Pro connection timeout message for personal hotspot but works on iPad. Any suggestions?, MacBook Pro connection timeout message for personal hotspot but works on iPad. Any suggestions?

I am having issues with my personal hotspot. I can connect an iPAD to it but the MacBook Pro gives a connection timeout error. Sometimes it asks for a password but when I type in the correct one it doesn't recognise it. Any suggestions? My software is up to date and I have deleted the password in key chain but this doesn't seem to help. I am a bit technically challenged so simple language please. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    Fixed!
Two things together have restored connectivity.
    1.  I changed the name under Settings > General > About > Name from My Name's iPad to iPad of My Name.  I read somewhere that iOS 7.0.1 or 7.0.2 (I forget which) sometimes had issues with apostrophes here.  Easy enough to test.
    2.  I then reset (again) the APN settings under Settings > Cellular Data > APN Settings > Personal Hotspot and reentered our provider's info (APN, Username, Password) there.
I don't know WHY it worked, but the personal hotspot is now happily sharing (again) internet connectivity with my MacBook Pro.
