  • Personal Hotspot not working between iPad Mini and iPhone 6 Plus

The personal hotspot function between my iPad Mini and iPhone 5C worked perfectly.
I am now using an iPhone 6 Plus with the same iPad Mini and cannot establish a connection at all.
Bluetooth and Wifi are enabled on both devices and the iPad says it has found my phone, displays the signal strength, 4G, battery remaining and 2 linked circles.
When I choose that hotspot it tries to connect then just keeps saying "Remote Hotspot Failure. Unable to start Personal Hotspot. Stuart's iPhone 6Plus"
    Please help!

Are both compatible devices / carriers?

  • Personal Hotspot - IPhone 4S and IPad 2

I have found issues similar to my issue.  Some are older and most do not have a solution.
Just moved from a HTC Inspire 4G (AT&T) to the IPhone 4s (AT&T).   With the Inspire, I used the personal hotspot to connect my iPad 2.  I was hoping to do the same with the 4s.
With the Inspire I never (yes, never) had an issue with the iPad and the hotspot.  With the 4s, I will be surfing along or watching a movie and I will lose the Internet connection.
    Symptoms:
The iPad will connect to the iPhone with no problem
The connection is established and an IP address assigned
Connection is solid for about 10 minutes then no Internet connection
Important to note that the WiFi connection between the two devices appears to be up.  I do not lose the IP address.  The iPhone reports a device connected.  The iPad reports it is connected to the iPhone.
Both are running the latest IOS 5.0.1
If I attach a Windows device to the hotspot, I do not lose connection.
As soon as I disconnect the Windows device, the iPad will lose Internet (but not the connection)
The only fix is to cycle the personal hotspot on the phone.
I have tried variations of the fixes for similar issues with no permanent fix.
    Any ideas?

Im not sure if I'm experiencing the exact same symptoms, but it seems to me every time the ipad goes to sleep / left unused for 8-10 minutes, the wifi link between the devices is lost, and i have to reconnect them again.

  • Personal Hotspot disappeared on my iPad 3 (wifi+cellular) after iOS 6

Personal hotspot was available and working on my iPad 3 (wifi+cellular). After upgrading to iOS 6, I cannot see anywhere personal hotspot option in the Settings application.
I also have an iPhone 3GS which is also running iOS 6; personal hotspot can be accessed from Settings app menu and working without any problems.
I'd appreciate your help to get personal hotspot working on my iPad 3. Thanks in advance.

Open Settings and tap on “General”
    Tap on “Reset Network Settings”
Now tap back to Settings and you should see the familiar Personal Hotspot option. Yes, you will lose your wireless network passwords and custom DNS settings by resetting network preferences, so be sure to note any necessary network settings before doing so.
give your iphone a hard boot by holding the power button and home button. This will insha'Allah resolve the issue.

  • Iphone 4 personal Hotspot not working after update to IOS 7.1 India BSNL cellular

Iphone 4 personal Hotspot not working after update to IOS 7.1 India BSNL cellular

BSNL is not a supported carrier. Personal Hotspot requires carrier support and provisioning of the account to enable it. iOS 7.1 disabled the ability to manually configure Personal Hotspot on unsupported carriers.

  • Personal hotspot not working after upgrading to ios7

Personal hotspot not working after upgrading to ios7

I was having this problem (iphone 5 wouldn't work as hotspot for my PC laptop) and had tried everything suggested on these message boards, so I finally went to the Apple Genius Bar and they fixed it for me.  Here's what they did:
    1) Turned the Hotspot off on my iphone
    2) Went to the Control Panel on my laptop to "Network and Internet" > "Network and Sharing Center" > "Manage Wireless Networks" (on the left navigation panel) and deleted my iphone from the list of WiFi connections I've attempted.
    3) Flipped the manual WiFi switch on my laptop to Off and then back On again (to reset it)
    4) Turned the Hotspot on my iphone back on
After that, when I tried to connect, it worked.  Hope this works for someone else.

  • Iphone4 ios 7.1 personal hotspot not working

How to do my iphone4 ios 7.1 personal hotspot not active

I have a similar problem with the hotspot on my iPhone 4 after updating to iOS7.1 and the trouble shooting doesnt help.
Initially after updating my iphone 4 to iOS7.1 I could turn on the "personal hotspot" and it appeared to work but if a computer joined the network it could not connect to the internet.
yesterday however I removed and reinserted the sim card (to check the balance on another sim card) and now the personal hotspot does not work at all.
When I try to enter the APN details for my cellular provider it disappears when I exit the "Cellular Data Network" page and the "Personal Hotspot" tab shows busy for a while then becomes "Set Up Personal Hotspot" which if pressed tells me to contact the carrier.
Is something wrong with the new iOS or is this a carrier problem - I never had a problem before installing iOS7 and the carrier information works perfectly on my friends iphone 4s on iOS7 - or is this something I need to take up with the carrier.  There doesnt seem to be anything wrong with the APN address on other devices (or before the update) and there is no problem with the internet connection on the phone.
    thanks for your help
    Phil

  • How can i turn personal hotspot in my apple ipad 4

how can i turn personal hotspot in my apple ipad 4 with retina display plz help me hoe turn it on.???

Does your carrier support the personal hotspot function on iPads (some only support it on iPhones) ? If they do, and you are on the correct tariff with them, then you should have a Settings > General > Cellular > Personal Hotspot option : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4517

  • HT204023 I am not able to use the personal hotspot in the new ipad 4g version. Please help me out in this case

I am not able to use the personal hot spot in the ipad 3 the new one .

It should be in Settings > General > Network > Personal Hotspot - if it's not there then have you checked with your carrier to see if they support it on the iPad (and even if they support it on the iPhone they don't necessarily also support it on the iPad) ? It may also be an extra fee/subscription from them, and you could check if there is a carrier update.

  • Disappointed that personal hotspot not enabled in new iPads

    Dear Apple,
I currently own a iPad, the original one, and was eagerly awaiting the release of the new iPad in Singapore.
I was going to buy it soon, but I read in Digital Life today, the IT pull out in the Singapore newspapers that the personal hotspot feature is not enabled for iPads sold here.
    Why is this so?
Singapore telecommunications regulations does not allow telcos to lock devices, even if customers bought devices with subsidies. At the same, Singapore consumers can purchase iPads from non telco retailers.
Why are the interest of telcos put ahead of consumers? As consumers, we can purchase devices and services separately, and combine them in any way we see fit.
Please enable this feature, otherwise I will sit on the sidelines, and continue using my original iPad.
For potential new iPad customers, please like this post so Apple know how important this issue is for their customers.
    Thank you.
    Alex C.

I don't understand the logic of applying the norm in US to Singapore.
There are 3 mobile providers in Singapore, all running on GSM. Telecommunications regulations bar telcos from locking handsets, and the penetration rate of mobile phones is higher than 100%, which means there are quite a few people who carry more than 1 phone around.
There is no limitation of tethering in Singapore by the telcos, the competition is such that the first telco who tries to force the rule onto their customers, would start seeing customer defections very quickly.
For my case, I subscribed to a mobile broadband plan that equipped me with a mobile wifi router, and then I cut the SIM card to size and placed it in my iPad. Why should I need permission from my telco to enable tethering? It was meant to be tethered to in the first place.

  • Personal Hotspot not working with my MacBook Air

    Hi Community
So I have an iPhone 6 and a MacBook Air (Mid2013), who both meet the requirements for the new personal Hotspot in iOS8.
I connected the 2 devices and it worked for some time. I could activate the personal hotspot without even touching the phone. I was very happy, but suddenly it stopped working, although I didn't install a new update on any of the two devices (both are still up to date). At some point, I had to turn the hotspot on manually to get it working, but now, the only way to connect to my hotspot, is to start diagnostics and connect trough that window.
The bluetooth connection works without a problem& my iPhone hotspot works perfectly with my iPad 3.
I tried everything, someone wrote on a website that the iCloud might me the problem, so I disconnected both devices from iCloud and reconnected afterwards. It worked exactly once after that. Then, my MacBook kept saying that the personal hotspot could not be activated (even if I activated the hotspot manually).
Thanks for every kind of help, I'm super frustrated

  • IPhone 4S Personal HotSpot not appearing in MacBook Pro or iPad2

I've been struggling for a long time detecting my iPhone 4S Personal Hotspot on my MacBook Pro and my iPad2.  Apple support has not been able to resolve the issue.  Sometimes the iPhone would show up; most of the time, not.
Recently, after learning that Siri cannot read Messages to me when I have a passcode in effect, it occurred to me that maybe the Personal Hotspot doesn't show when the phone is locked and/or passcode protected.  I've been doing some testing and I think I've demonstrated to myself that this is true.
Each time I want to connect my MacBook or my iPad to the hotspot, I find I have to slide the lock to open the phone before either piece of equipment will detect it and connect.  I also notice that it takes a long time before the hotspot appears.
With previous smartphones, the hotspot appeared quickly and was always easy to detect as long as it was enabled.
Has anyone else had the same experiences?

I've since resolved this problem - at least so I can cope with it without too much hassle.
You said your phone is unlocked.  Do you have a passcode enabled?
In my experience and testing (Apple support has been useless on this problem), I've narrowed it down to making sure the phone is unlocked and passcode disabled.  Either feature alone will block the WiFi hotspot.  [By the way, I've also learned that Siri is blocked from reading text messages, etc. when the passcode is in effect - even if you are using a Bluetooth device that is already paired with the phone.  Obviously, you must be the owner of the phone if you've pair your device to it.]
I went to my local Apple store on a Genius support visit.  I demonstrated how enabling either feature blocks my iPad's ability to detect the hotspot, and disabling both allows my iPad to see the hotspot.  The guy just said he had never seen that before, and that they are always learning new things.  He didn't do anything to elevate the case to higher level support, like Apple engineering.  I just left the store and that was it.
I've explained this to Apple support more than once and they never seem to be aware of it.  I'm supposed to call to speak with a management level guy, but I haven't remembered to make the call.
So, I walk around with an unsecured phone all the time so I can conveniently access my WiFi hotspot.  And I have to make sure the phone it unlocked until the connection is established so my computer or iPad will find it.  Otherwise, all I can see is everyone else's equipment.
Maybe people don't use the hotspot much.  Apple doesn't seem to care.

  • Hotspot not appear on iPad Air

    Hi
Have a iPad AIr 64gb with Cellular. The cellular connection is with mobile provider 3 in Ireland.
I can use the cellular connecrion for normal iPad data usage no problem.
There is no Personal Hotspot option on the machine. I have searched everywhere on it.
I have reset all network setting, reinstalled the software and initialised anything that I could on the iPad all to no avail - followed the instructions from different web threads.
The cellular carrier has no restrictions around Hotspot's
    Any guidance would be great
    Thanks
    John

This is Apple's official Hotspot help page and their troubleshooting steps. Make sure you have walked through all of these steps. If it is still not working, let us know.
By the way, yes the menu options can be affected by the operator you use. As I said earlier, so operators make this an optional service for which they change more. The SIM card in the device can determine if this option is available.
What your operator could be telling you is that they don't limit it by charging an extra fee.

  • Personal hotspot not getting router and DNS configured

My provider for cellular is "bob" (A1) in Austria.
I want to make my iPad to provide network access via cellular as a personal hotspot.
The network is broadcasted and I can see it at any other device when activating Wi-Fi.
When I connect it times out, the iPad does not provide DNS and router address to the client.
I have also an iPhone5 with the provider "drei" - it works without problem to activate and use the "personal hotspot" provided by the iPhone.
I contacted "bob" - they say there is nothing the provider can do about personal hotspot, it should work, I shall contact Apple support.
    Any other experience/advise?

Update:  I have found that if I connect my iPhone via USB and share the personal hotspot via USB that it works fine.  But if I try and share it over wifi, it maybe lasts 5 mins then the blue status bar at the top of the iPhone, flashes on and off and the internet isn't shared.
I have restored my iphone and updated it to 5.1.1, but still get the same!
Can anyone suggest anything? Please help
    Thanks
    Paul

  • Personal hotspot not showing up

I am trying to tether my iPhone 4 to my iPad, been following instructions, all updates in place (4.3.3) the tethering plan paid for and ready, but when I go to the settings-general-network there is no words saying personal hotspot. I have seen other people's iPhones, and this does show up on theirs, but not on mine! Any ideas?

iOS 5 has great new features. But concerning the personal hotspot I was quite disappointed, when I had done the update. Still the menu item could not be found.
So I decided to configure my iPhone as "new iPhone" instead of restoring it from my old backups. Like DarthOSX I spent hours to bring my data back, using advice from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137 (which is quite a joke from my perspective).
Finally, the personal hotspot is working properly. But I have not been able to bring back all the data into my iPhone.
Not a real good performance from Apple ...
