Personal hotspot option is missing
Hellow,
It seem that there are no Personal hotspot option under settings or under general-->settings-->Network, I already tried to reset network settings with no luck.
I have iPhone 4s with iOS 5.0.1.
I Just got the devise 10 days ago I never used this option before and i am no sure it existed.
Thanks,Hi,
I have the same problem as omarfromamman.
I too have a 4s (5.0.1 Build 9A406) and I too do not have this personal hotspot tab as well as the tab to configure the cellular data network.
I have reset network settings several times already but it still does not appear. my iphone 4s is from singapore (Model # MD245ZA).
My carrier supports this because I used to use this feature on my iphone 4 (also on fw 5.0.1). What else can I do for this to appear? I have done the following already:
1) reset network settings (under build 405)
2) restored under 5.0.1 under build 405
3) restored to build 406
4) rest network settings under build 406
Hope you can help me. Thank you -
I have iPhone 4 and I update it to iOS 7 and when I try to start the personal hotspot it crashed and for sometime my cellular data was also not working then allot a sudden the personal hotspot icon disappeared from my settings.
Has anyone faced a problem like this!!!No. If you go Settings App > General > Reset > "Erase All Content and Settings", you will have the same iOS that was on the iPhone when you tapped the Erase button. If you believe your iPhone is Jailbroken, then this will not work. If you use iTunes on computer, this will put iPhone to current iOS which is iOS 7.0.2

Personal hotspot option not showing in IOS 8.1.2
I was using personal Hotspot on cellular data "Mobilink" on my 4s , i recently updated to IOS 8.12 and since then this option is gone . Please help
Hi Anas
i am having the same issue on my iphone 6 with personal hotspot option missing with mobilink carrier in Lahore.
This came after i installed a profile of mobilink ( network settings )
which doesnt go away even if i try to reset the network settings.
i cant go and delete the profiles manually.
i have contacted mobilink network support and they have no idea what i am talking about ( even discussed it with their resolution center ) but they just gave me apples where i wanted oranges
they said they have not disabled it neither they are charging for this option
once i put the sim in android phone.( i can make a personal hotspot option)..
Question is why not iphone.
Perhaps mobilink doesnt support iphone officially thats why.
This came after ( Mobilink offer of 3 dollars = 15 Gb ) of 3g traffic.
when i put in the sim of zong network ( 3g and 4g ) hotspot works fine on iphone
Apple guys ( how can i delete network profile )?
such as a software using windows or on mac .
I cant do it through iphone's network cellular settings the carrier settings just wont go away.
neither
Apple configurator seem to detect configuration profiles on ios 8 .( and officially i believe the configurator has been taken offline.)
i don't want to factory reset my phone as it has alot of data and other things so i didnt try this option -
Personal Hotspot option gone altogether after doing a carrier update
I was using my personal Hotspot for a month or so on IOS 8.1. I enabled it in Cellular data and everything was fine until I did a carrier update a few days ago. After that the personal Hostspot option itself dissapeared, and it went from the cellular data network tab as well. Now the 'cellular data network' tab only shows APN and MMs, not Personal Hotspot. I can't find it anywhere, Help?
Hey Kazimraza,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, Personal Hotspot is missing from settings. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.

i'm currently using 3gs. My 'Personal Hotspot' option suddenly dissapear from my 'Settings'. How can i get my 'Personal Hotspot' option back?
The iOS5 upgrade for the iphone allowed network operators to control the availability of the 'personal hotspot' feature. If your operator is one of those who charge extra for tethering (and most do) then by upgrading to ios5 you've facilitated them to remove the option for you.
Apple bowed to the demands of the opertators on this one.
I am with Tesco(O2) and as soon as I upgraded to ios5 I lost the 'personal hotspot' option.
I have the last laugh though; They cant control my Android phone so I put the Tesco mobile sim into that when I want to use tethering.
Get an Android phone or if you're in the UK use Three mobile who allow tethering. -
Where is the Personal Hotspot option on iPad 3rd generation
Dear all,
I have an iPad 3rd generation 64GB (Wifi+Cellular). It seems that the Personal Hotspot option is not existed!!
Note: My iPhone 4S is on the same cellular data plan (unlimited) with the same carrier provider and I am able to use & share the Personal Hotspot on it.
Thank youiamADHAM wrote:
The option is not there.
Are you saying that the carrier could support the it on iPhones but not the iPad? Anyway I will have to check with the carrier if this is the case :S. thnx Diavonex for the quick respond.
Correct. Carriers sometimes support personal hotspot on the phone but not on the iPad. I think AT&T does this. -
Personal hotspot option is not shownig on my i phone 5

You carrier needs to provide that for you. If it has then go to settings/general/cellular and then turn hotspot on

Personal hotspot option missing!
Hi,
I have 2 serious issues with my iPhone 4S now. After updating the os to iOS 6.1.3,
1. I discovered I can't enable the wifi option.
2. My personal hotspot option is missing!
What gives???
HELP!
MervinMervin,
I searched the forums for this issue, because I had the same problem. I was a little worried about no longer having access to my hotspot after the upgrade to 6.1.3. Like you, the option for the hotspot was completely missing (not just greyed out) after the update. I am also using an iPhone 4S.
The good news is that I found the way to fix it, at least for me. I hope it works for you.
Go to Settings > General > Cellular > Personal Hotspot. Just turn it on. That should make the "Hotspot" option on the main settings page reappear for you.
I hope that helps.

When I access Visual Voicemail, my Personal Hotspot option disappears from settings.
Why does my Personal Hotspot option disappear when I access Visual Voicemail? I need to reset network settings to get it back and then Visual Voicemail no longer works.
Also, does anyone know how I could disable Visual Voicemail and set the phone app's voicemail button to dial 901 instead? (as a workaround)The iOS5 upgrade for the iphone allowed network operators to control the availability of the 'personal hotspot' feature. Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
To start troubleshooting this issue where you do not see the Personal Hotspot option on your iPhone, please follow the initial troubleshooting steps below. If the issue persists, then please click on the link for further troubleshooting steps.
Basic troubleshooting
See if your iOS device, computer, and wireless plan all meet the system requirements for Personal Hotspot.
Make sure Personal Hotspot is on: Tap Settings > Cellular > Personal Hotspot.
Check the Internet connection on your iOS device: Tap Safari and load a new webpage.
If one connection type doesn't work, try another. For example, instead of connecting using Wi-Fi, use USB or Bluetooth.
Turn Personal Hotspot off and on: Tap Settings > Personal Hotspot or Settings > Cellular > Personal Hotspot.
Install the latest version of iOS.
Reset your network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
If you still see the issue, restore the iPhone.
