Personal Media Drive won't work when inside Elite Desktop

I have a 4 month old 1 TB  Pesonal Media Drive installed inside my  Elite Series Desktop.
I was flagged by my Acronis backup saying there were bad sectors and it would not allow incremental automatic backups.
I ran  Hardware Diagnostic test..and it reported surface scan errors on the new Personal Media Drive.
I removed it from the Elite series bay, and connected it like a normal external hard drive via USB connections.
I ran the same test and it passed. It reported no problems whatsoever...so I am wondering why it only fails when inside the internal bay?

Adobe CC 2014 v8.1
iMac 27"  3.4GHz w/12GB Ram.
OS 10.9.5
OWC Mercutry ELite Pro Dual.
RAID 0
Thunderbolt.
No adapters or daisy chaining going on.
The RAID is new and only has about 700GB of data on it.
I read on Creative Cow that alexojedav522 was able to figure out that the size of the drive was his issue:
https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/954245
After reading that I tried repartitioning my RAID into two sections of 2tb each (let's call them Partition1 and Partition2).
So Partition1 is just the original partition (which was 4TB) shrunken down to 2TB.
Partition2 is the brand new partition.
Oddly enough, I can access Partition2 via Media Browser just fine.
And when I move media onto it I can relink it as well).
But Partition1 is still not accessible via Premiere at all.
I am currently moving everything off of Partition1 and onto Partition2, so that I can at least relink my project and get to work.
But obviously that isn't a permanent solution.

  • Personal media drive locks xp

the personal drive is put in the bay and is picked up by my computer, then xp locks up until PMD is removed. have not been able to use the PMD. HELPLEASE.

A operating system freezing when a device is connected and the same operating system working without issue as long as the device is not conected indicates that there is a problem with the device.
Your personal media drive appears to have a problem.
It would help if you identified your HP desktop PC with its  complete product name and product number. Look on the PC for a service tag. The service tag will have that information. post it here.

  • External dvd drive won't work on USB macBook air

External dvd drive won't work on my macBook air usb port.  It works on older versions of air and iMac.
Any ideas.  Tried the left shift, control, option and power button sumultaniously, but did not work.

I know that no one has replied yet, but figured out the issue.  I called Applecare and they couldn't figure it out, so sent me to a genuis at the Apple store.  They too couldn't figure it out and told me that it was a firmware issue with the Toshiba dvd external drive.  When I got home, I thought I would try one more thing.  I hooked it up to a powered hub and it works perfectly.  I'm not sure why no one else thought of it, but glad that I did.

  • How to install Personal Media Drive (hd5000s) in computer running Windows 8

I would like to use my old Personal Media Drive (hd5000s) with my new computer that runs Windows 8.  The computer does not recognize the drive.  I need a download or driver to use the drive.

Have the same problem, several HP personal media drives from dead HP Vista PC's & want to access on new Windows 8 PC's.  Can't believe more people not facing same problem.  Would a generic W8 driver work?

  • So, now my CD/DVD drive won't work

I made the BIG mistake of upgrading to LION last week.   Up until that moment, EVERYTHING was working fine on my MAC.   I downloaded the software just fine but when I went to install it I received a message saying my hard drive was full.   I'm sure that I had plenty of room left and would have thought that if it was full I would have received that message PRIOR to the download.   Nevertheless, I tried it again.  This time I received a message saying that there was something wrong with my hard drive and it needed repairing.   I did the verification and tried to do the repair but it wouldn't work.
Made an appointment with the Apple Store, (at least I live near a store), and they went through all the diagnostics and said, "There is nothing wrong with your hard drive yet we are unable to install the upgrade ... meaning that my computer will not function.  I had to buy a new hard drive and have them install LION on it.   Before I left the store I told the tech guy that I'd like to turn it on to make sure it would work ... guess what ... it wouldn't.   "I can't understand it", he said, "It was working just fine a few minutes ago."   I had him try it a few more times and then he advised me that they'd have to do it again and for me to come back (again).
So, now I have a new hard drive and a new operating system ... but I had to pay for it in cash, frustration, time, and lost data (my email archive mostly) ... BUT ... now my CD/DVD drive won't work.   I've had to reload software with an external drive.
    What the **** ????
Anyone with some thoughts on this?
(Plus I've had to create a new MAC ID?   Why won't it accept my old account ID?)

Thank you again ... I wasn't aware of that bit of information.
I've never used Toast before but have heard of it.  I just went to their website and watched a quick video.  I'm a tad confused though ... is Toast able to rip movie DVD's before burning a copy?   I used to have some software that could do this but, of course, it's now gone with my new hard drive.

  • PB 1400 CD & Floppy Drive won't work

We gave our granddaughter my wife's Powerbook 1400CS which she used for about 6 months. She brought it back because the CD and floppy drives will no longer work. Even if I open the drive with a paperclip and insert a CD it will not be recognized – same for a floppy. I got a serial cable and in target mode did a clean install of 8.6 but still the drives won't work. Does anyone know why?

    Larry
The HDD in the PB 1400 is ATA Bus 0, and the CD-ROM is ATA Bus 4. (See ASP/Devices.) The FDD is well, the floppy drive. It is at least worth while for you to check that it is not drive faults that you are dealing with, but some other, since mass but selective failure of the buses seems unlikely.
If the PB's AC adapter is functional, it may still happen that the 'backup' battery (or batteries if it is an 'extended' 1400) has not recovered from depletion at some recent time. PRAM and Power Manager may be feeling poorly enough not to remember what they should and what is where. If you boot the PB, and then remove first the AC adapter and then the main battery, you should get up to 2min of remaining life from a good backup battery. If you get instant shutdown, you can fairly guess that the backup didn't. The backup(s) begin to charge only when the main is fully charged. What is the state of charge of the main in the Control Strip? If it shows full, leave the PB on the adapter for 24-48hr to make sure of the charge on the backup. Otherwise, set the main to charge (with the PB off), and add 24-48hr more after the main shows full charge.
Then start up with a traditional PRAM-zap. The PB will shut down in response, and can be restarted with the reset switch between the serial and ADB ports. Then you can validly sleep-swap the CD-ROM and FDD to check their function. Is it possible that they have been swapped while the PB was not off or asleep?
System installation in target disk mode via the HDI-30 port does not work because PB-specific software does not get installed. It is conceivable that a serial port installation will also not work, again because the PB is not identified to the host machine as a PB.

  • HP Personal Media Drive hd0000 Not Loading

    Hi can anyone please help
I have a HP Personal Media Center M7000 PC on windows XP.
It comes with a Personal Media Drive HD0000.
I have always kept the media drive in its internal docking station within the PC as it can be removed by sliding the cassette in and out of the body of the PC.
I recently had start up issues with my PC where it was failing to boot. After removing the the media drive the pc is back in working order without any problems but ever since the media drive is failing to load.
I have tried to load it in its docking station and via USB with this PC and i have also tried to load it via USB with a laptop i have on windows  7.
The media drive has some very personal items on it so can anyone please help me thank you in advance
UPDATE i have tried to connect the drive to my laptop on windows 7 and it does not load but it is now showing up instead of showing up under the computer section it shows up under control panel/ hardware and sound/ printer and devices. But it still will not load ARRRRGHHH any advice please thank you

One should be able to see the files on the HP Personal Media drive, if it still works.  With the drive out of the bay, it requires a USB cable and a power connection.  Examine the back of the drive.  You will see a power connection right next to the USB connector.  HERE is some info on the adapter but it does not have to be that one exactly.  Any 12vDC 1 to 2 Amp supply that fits the jack should be able to power it.
BTW: if the drive was causing problems in the drive pocket on the WinXP PC, it could have a problem.

whats the format on the external HD?
verify same on another Mac, its likely a dead SATA card inside the external enclosure.
One assumes you arent referring to a 2012 Air with a Toshiba SSD, since the Air contains no hard drives, only a SSD.
2013 Air use Sandisk or Samsung SSD.

There is a hardware problem.  Whether it's worth it to you to have no working phone for 2 months until you can update vs paying for replacement/repair now is a question only you can answer.

  • Why No Support For HP hd7500s Personal Media Drive?

I have a Personal Media Drive hd7500s (750 gb), installed in the equipment bay,  that my HP Pavillion has stopped recognizing.  There is power to the drive as indicated by the lights on the front.  General Troubleshooting info at this site suggests I attempt to hook it up as an external drive, using the USB connection.  Before I can, however, the USB port on the back of the personal media drive appears to have a plastic protective cap on the USB contacts; but I am wary of using any more plier force than I've already applied to remove this unsuccessfully.  So I went to this site looking for tech data on my drive.
No matter how many different ways I enter the SKU, the model number, even the serial number of this HP Personal Media Drive, the search returns nothing.  What gives??

Apparently HP does not offer support for this device. Seems pretty bad as I purchased mine about a year ago and if I had known HP was not going to support it I would not have purchased it....SUPRISE, I guess that is why they did not tell me!!!

  • Installed itunes 6 and now CD/DVD drive won't work at all

I just bought a new ipod and installed the software and now my CD/DVD drive won't work at all. Here is my info: Could someone please help!!!
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
    Dell Computer Corporation Inspiron 5160
    iTunes 6.0.4.2
    CD Driver 2.0.4.3
    CD Driver DLL 2.0.3.2
    LowerFilters: ASAPIW2K (6.0.2.0),
    UpperFilters: GEARAspiWDM (2.0.4.3),
Video Driver: NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 \GeForce FX Go5200
IDE\DiskFUJITSUMHT2080AH_______________________006C___, Bus Type ATA, Bus Address [0,0]
IDE\CdRomSONYDVD+-RW_DW-D56A____________________PDS7___, Bus Type ATA, Bus Address [0,0]
SCSI\CdRomROXIO__DVD-ROM_EMULATOR___, Bus Type SCSI, Bus Address [0,0]
If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.
    Current user is administrator.
    D: SONY DVD+-RW DW-D56A, Rev PDS7
    Drive is empty.
    E: ROXIO DVD-ROM EMULATOR, Rev
    Drive is empty.
If anyone has a solution for this stupid problem that would be great.
    Thanks

Yes, I suspect that it's the virtual drive emulator software you have there. I know nothing about that software and it doesn't look like the Roxio support page even mentions it, so it's probably software old enough that they're not supporting it anymore.
To uninstall any software, I would start with the "Add and Remove Programs" Control Panel. Uninstall it there, and then use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility —
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=290301
Download and install that. Run it and find the drive emulator software on the list and remove it there. And reboot and see if that has successfully removed it.
There is a work around that if we just remove the iTunes CD driver, you'll probably get your drive back, but you'll only be able to rip CDs, you won't be able to burn them without the iTunes CD driver installed. You do have some Pinnacle CD burning software installed. Are you currently using that or is that leftover cruft as well?

  • My 8 key won't work when I press it to put in my password, what can I do?

my 8 key won't work when I press it to put in my password, what can I do?

Presumably you are connecting it from the *Dock Connector.* In this case, the controls on the car stereo should be controlling the iPod and the iPod's controls are disabled.
If you are using the car's connection interface, consult the car manual to find out how to control the iPod. If you are using an adaptor between the iPod and car, ask the adaptors installer or manufacturer.

  • I have a G5 with Tiger to sell and want to erase all my data from it, but the cd drive won't work so I can't use the OS10 start up disk. Answers?

I have a G5 to sell and want to erase all my data from it, but the cd drive won't work so I can't use the OS10 start up disk. Any way to do it?

Do you have another Mac? If so, you can startup this one in "Target Disk Mode" (instructions here) and connect it to another Mac to delete the home folders (or the entire drive, if that's what you want).
One piece of advise, though: after deleting the data, and of course emptying the Trash, it wouldn't hurt to also securely erase the "free space" of the drive (instructions here) before disconnecting the old Mac from the new one. This can be helpful, since "deleted" data is often retrievable with ease unles it's written over after the deletion.
