Personal number field in asset master

Dear experts,
In Asset master-Time dependent tab we have option to put the personal number.
Kindly tell me where we have to configure this personal number in the system and we are not using the HR module in present implementation (this will get any table problem in for the creation personal number in asset master)

Even if you are not using the HR module, you can still create Employee Master in the HR module and specify the Personnel No in the Asset master...
You might need to do some basic settings in HR to create Emp master....

Custom Field in Asset Master Data

Dear Experts,
I want to ask about a problem I'm having when adding a new field in Asset Master Data ( AS01 & AS02 ).
I'm adding new field on the Time-dependent Tab. I already create the exit & the new custom field, and with the help of the functional registered the new field.
I'm using a new installed SAP GUI 7.3 .
The problem is that the new field doesn't appear when I access the tcode unless I click on the new field location.
The problem seem doesn't appear in SAP GUI 7.1 & 7.2.
Is there any setting that need to be done or this is the problem with the SAP GUI 7.3

You can go through the steps below to customize the field u2018Planned. retirement onu2019
1, AS02 -> Menu: Environment -> screen layout -> Master data -> select layout and double click on Logic field group -> Select Logic field group 2 u2018Posting informationu2019 and double click on field group rules -> Change field group 13 to u2018Suppressed entry fieldu2019.
Alternatively
2, Use AO21 to customize the field as above.
Note: field u2018Planned. retirement onu2019 in asset master is connected to the function u2018Simulate up to planned retirement dateu2019 in asset reports. After field u2018Planned. retirement onu2019 of asset master data is deactivated, the function u2018Simulate up to planned retirement dateu2019 in asset report will be disabled.

Best practice for "Quantity" field in Asset Master

Hi
I want to know what is the best practice for "Quantity field" in asset master. It should be made displayed only or required field in Asset Master creation.
Initially I made this field as required entry. So user entered 1 quantity. At the time of posting F-90, he again entered quantity. So my quantity in asset master got increased. Hence i decided to make that field display only in asset master creation.
Now i made that field as display only in asset master creation. At the time of posting F-90, that quantity field is not coming only. I check my field status group for posting key as well as GL account. Its optional field. Inspite of that user is able to make entry in F-90. Now quantity field is '0' only in asset master even though there is some value in asset.
Please help what is the best practice wrt quantity field. Should be open in asset master or it should be display only.

Hi:
SAP Standard does not recommend you to update quantity field in asset master data. Just leave the Qty Field Blank , just mention the Unit of Measure as EA. While you post acquisition through F-90 or MIGO this field will get updated in Asset master data automatically. Hope this will help you.

    Define 4-Character Evaluation Groups
    Define 8-Character Evaluation Groups

How to display field Functional Location Field in Asset Master Data

Dear Experts,
I really appreciate for your advices on how to display Functional Location Field in Asset Master data.
I have checked the configuration on path IMG:\Financial Accounting->Asset Accounting->Master Data->Screen Layout->Define Screen Layout for Master Data
I have chosen the screen layout and review all Logical Field Groups. And there's no field "Functional Location" is available. I also didn't find "Add New" button to add "Functional Location" field.

I am sorry this is not possible.
Note 140482:
The field was created as a precaution. However, it is not being used at
present and consequently is not supplied.
In particular, you cannot use the field as a criterion for a selection
in Asset Accounting reporting. This is still true even if this field has
been included in the selection view delivered for the dynamic selections
by modification.

Enabling of the Business Area field in Asset Master Record

Hello SAP Gurus,
Can you explain how I can enable Business Area field in Asset Master Record becz it needs be change.How I can acheive this becz it is coming in disabled mode.

Once u ticked the check box save it.Now u can change these field in main asset master record and if u have ticked Su no also then in sub asset master record also.Make sure filed status is optional.
Now u go to AS02 if u want to change the filed for main asset or sub asset

Adding Investment Order Field in Asset Master

Hi,
I went to the following path:
Spro --> Financial Accounting --> Asset Accounting -->Master data --> Define Screen layout for master data
In all the logical field groups, I cannot find field 08 - Investment Order which I want to set to optional.
Anybody knows how I can add the field?
All the fields 01 - 07 and 09 to 19 are in the list. I wonder why 08 is missing.
Do I need to activate it somehow?

Note: You are no longer NEWBIRD, since from 2006 you are here....:)
To have Investment Order field in Asset master, first you need to activate it thru below path.
IMG->FA->AA-> Integration with GL->Additional Account Assignment Objects->Activate Accoount Assignment Object...
Here you need to activate INVESTMENT ORDER field to enable the inputs in asset master. Without doing this you will not be able to find the field in the screen layout definition for asset master data.

CAT 2 Personal number field

Dear All,
I would like to make the personal number field unchangeable by users.
I have maintained the parameter ID at SU3, than at CAC2 I have made the field
CATSFIELDS-PERNR displayed. With this I am able to load the data there automatically.
The problem is that the field is still changeable therefore all employees can record times
to each others employee number. So the aim is to allow record working times to their own
personal number.
Any Ideas?

You can make the CATSFIELDS-PERNR as display only .
In Include LCATSF20 , click on Enhance icon , then goto EDIT -> Enhancement Operations -> Show Implicit Enhancements options . You can find the Yellow line at the end of the Include (Before the ENDFORM) . You can create Enhancement Implementation here with below code in place :
Loop at screen .
if screen-name = 'CATSFIELDS-PERNR' .
screen-output = ON .
Modify screen .
endif .
endloop .
You can also try using SHD0 (creating Transaction variant) .

Scrap Percentage Field in Asset Master

Hii Experts,
scrap value in main asset and sub number different.
i want to have scrap value different between main asset and sub number
example
asset number 123-0 scrap value = 1
asset number 123-1 scrap value = 0
asset number 123-2 scrap value = 0
I want when i change the main asset i.e 123-0 with scrap value-1, it should update all the relavant sub numbers like 123-1 and so on..
is there any configuration to solve this problem. (now i have to manual change by as02)

In standard system, as soon as asset master is saved, then it's not possible to change sub-number's master data via changing main number mastre data because either main number and sub number are individual asset.
the possible way to realize your expectation is to use mass change combining a substitution of field 'scrap value' via T-cd:AR01.

Original asset Field in Asset Master

Field Original asset in origin Tab is available for some asset classes. Few is asset classess that field is not available.
Can any one tell me where to activate that field. I have checked in the screen layout of the asset master data. It is not available there.

Proceed as follows.
1. IMG --> Financial Accounting --> Asset Accounting --> Master Data --> Screen Layout
2. Click on Execute "Define Screen Layout For Asset Master Data
3. Double -Click on Create Screen Layout for Asset Master Data
4. Select the layout you to make original asset number available for
5. Double click on Logical Field Group
6. Select Origin
7. Double Click on Field Group Rules
8. Make 41 ( Asset Under Constr) as optional and then check off both Mn No. and Sbno.
9. Save.
The above solution should resolve your issue. Refer back for any further clarification.

WBS Field in Asset Master Record

Hi All,
Currently we are working in 4.6 C version.
The requirement of the client is they want the Field WBS to be populated in asset Master Record under the origin Tab or Time Dependent.
The standard functionality is available in ECC6
Could some body help us in knowing how to achieve this in 4.6c, do we the SAP standard Solution or do we need to go for some enhancements.

@ Nitin: Go to Screen layouts (IMG > AA > Master data > Screen layout)
Here, you need to allow WBS Element in your screen layout... Also, if you cant see WBS there, Allow to use WBS element in the IMG Step AA > Integration with GL > Define Additional account assignment objects...
I never worked on 4.6, but I guess WBS must be allowed for usage

Hi Pedro,
SAP allows entering upto 8 fields on the asset master. These fields are called 'Evaluation group'. Out of 8, 4 are four character long and others are 8 character long.
You can configure them @ the following 3 nodes in IMG:
Financial Accounting>Asset Accounting>Master Data-->User Fields: Define 4-Character Evaluation Groups & Define 8-Character Evaluation Groups & Change Key Words in the Evaluation Groups.

How to validate a field in Asset master?

Hi,
I have requirement like need to validate field ANLA-TYPBZ,
Data uniquely passing to this field, i need to check whether data already exist or not while creating asset master using AS01 transaction.
eg: suppose ANLA-TYPBZ = 12345' entry is there in the table, if i tried to post the data using AS01 as '12345', it should give error message.

Follow the below steps:
1. create a validation in GGB0 at node Assets - > Master Data
2. create a routine in program where these validations were written. It is a copy from RGGBR000
3. activate validation: append a record in transaction OACV

Po number field in Equipment Master

Hi All,
Can you tell me how i can include two fields in Equipment Master.
1. For PO Number
2. Po Line Item Number.
If there is no standard field, can you please tell me if there is any Additional Fields that i can use for PO number and Line Item number pls.
Also the Equipment Valid Date field needs to be changeable. Can you please advise a way to make this Field ITOB-DATBI changeable.

Hi,
If you want PO and PO Line item to be included in the Equipment, you can create Characterics called Purchase Order and PO Line Item and then assign these characteristics to an equipment class (create one if you do not have an existing equipment class).
Assign this Class to all the equipment you want, then you can input the PO and PO line items values into the characteristics.

How to make Location as mandatory field in Asset Master

Hi All,
My client wants Location field to be mandatory in the Asset master. I ddefined it in
Enterprise Structure>Definition>Logistic-general > Define Location.
Also i made this field mandatory in 'Define Screen Layout for Asset Master Data'>Time-dependent data...in configuration.
But when i go to create New Asset and when i select Location which i defined earlier , i am getting this error " Entry -
does not exist in T499S (check entry)
Though i have defined this location in Ent. Struct.

I think note 109602 could be relevant to this problem.
Perhaps you attempt to enter a location without first entering a a
plant. (A location will not be accepted unless you have first
specified the plant.)
